Lionhead Studios was a Video Game developing company founded by Peter Molyneux, Mark Webley, Tim Rance and Steve Jackson in 1997 in Guildford, England.

After Black & White 2 and The Movies failed to make a big financial impact, Lionhead was eventually acquired by Microsoft in April 2006.

The company would drastically change in early 2012, when several several Lionhead veterans, dissatisfied with the way the company was heading, resigned on the same day, in an event that was internally nicknamed "Black Monday". Molyneux himself departed the company shortly after in March the same year.

Lionhead's last project would be Fable Legends, which suffered a prolonged Troubled Production. Legends and was eventually cancelled by Microsoft on 7th March 2016, and the same day it was announced that they would be closing down the developer. On 29th April 2016, Lionhead closed down.
