Kitty is the precocious youngest of three sisters, looking to make her own connection to the late mother she barely got to know. She faces the world head on and isn't afraid to speak her mind or take risks.- Character Narrator: Kitty narrates her feelings and thoughts on occasion.
- The Matchmaker: Kitty defines herself this way, saying she has a knack for spotting true connections. Of course, she finds it more difficult when it comes to her own love life.
- Rich Suitor, Poor Suitor: Kitty dates Dae, who is working class (although he hid that from her until she came to Seoul) and later gets feelings for Yuri, who is rich, as well as pursued by Min Ho, who is also rich.
Dae Kim

Dae is a kind, polite and smart student from a working class family. He works hard to retain his spot at the prestigious KISS and looks out for his younger sister. Dae lost his mother in 2020. His father works as the driver for Yuri Han's father.- Boy Next Door: Dae is sweet, kind, down to earth and a friend to all. He's local and at KISS on a scholarship because he works hard.
- Interclass Friendship: Dae with the rich Min Ho and later Yuri; more downplayed with middle class Kitty.
- Missing Mom: Dae's mother died three years prior.
- Penny Among Diamonds: Dae is working class and the only one of his friends whose family can't just pay for KISS without breaking a sweat.
Yuri Han

The resident popular and famous rich girl at KISS, who is hiding her relationship with Juliana as it is difficult to be out in Korea. While Yuri keeps up a mean facade and can also be cold and conniving, she changes for the better through her friendships with Dae and Kitty.- Bitch Alert: How Yuri is introduced, buying whatever she wants with her dad's money and threatening to get his assistant fired if she protests.
- Closet Key: She becomes this for none other than Kitty herself.
- Lipstick Lesbian: She's a traditionally girly girl and she's a lesbian.
- Spoiled Brat: How Yuri acts and treats her surroundings. While true, it also seems to stem from her unhappiness with being in the closet.
Min Ho
Min Ho

One of Dae's two best friends, Min Ho is the vain son of a famous actor, but secretly feels lonely and disconnected from her. He realises he wants to make real connections, but finds himself in a dilemma as he falls for his best friend's girlfriend.- Establishing Character Moment: Min Ho walks through the airport in slow-motion, visibly enjoying girls fawning over his looks. He bumps into Kitty without stopping until she calls him out. She spots his K.I.S.S. uniform and pivots to asking about the school. Min Ho just glares at her, declares in an accent, 'no English', and walks off.Kitty: [to herself] OK rude.
- Tall, Dark, and Snarky: Min Ho is tall wit jet black hair, pretty (and knows it), caters a lot to his looks and often makes sarcastic comments among his friends, especially to or about Kitty.
Q Shabazian
Quincy "Q" Shabazian

Q is another American student at KISS and one of Dae's two best friends. Q quickly forms a close friendship with Kitty when she arrives in Seoul, and Kitty sets up his romance with fellow KISS student, Florian.- Twofer Token Minority: He's a gay guy who's also established to be Filipino and Iranian.
Juliana Porter

Juliana is an American student at KISS until her parents send her away to England at the behest of Jina Lim, after they discover her romance with Yuri.- Advertised Extra: Juliana is listed as starring in the credits but is only in a few scenes in Season 1 and her story mostly revolves around her girlfriend, Yuri, and their romance.
- Lipstick Lesbian: She's a girly girl and she's a lesbian.
- Token Minority: She's the only significant Black character in the series so far.
Alex Finnerty

Alex is a sweet, kind and helpful new teacher at KISS, originally from Australia. He helps Kitty a lot and she eventually discovers that he came to Seoul to meet his birth father - Mr. Lee.Recurring Characters

Jina Lim

Jina is Yuri's mother and the principal of KISS. She knew Kitty's mother, Eve Song, when they attended the school together in the early '90s. Jina appears cold and is unhappy in her marriage to Yuri's father. Madison Miller
Madison Miller

Madison is an American student, the daughter of wealthy benefactors to the school which is how she got in. Despite at first appearing ditzy and lacking in cross-cultural decorum, she turns out to be a fairly good friend and more aware than she seems. She chases after an uninterested Min Ho. Florian Simon

Florian is a French/Greek student at KISS, who starts a romance with Q.
