Main Cast

    The Taskmaster

Tom "Greater Tom" Gleeson (The Taskmaster)

Appears in: Every AU episode

  • Bald Head of Toughness: When Luke tried to make fun of his baldness by bringing in a clump of hair for the "thing someone will miss the most" prize task, he gave Luke only one point because he didn't actually miss his hair.
  • Benevolent Boss: While definitely seeing and claiming himself as superior to Lesser Tom, he nevertheless verbally makes it known he appreciates him and usually saves his ire for the contestants rather than his assistant.
  • Deadpan Snarker: As custom for the Taskmaster.
  • In-Series Nickname: To differentiate between him and Tom Cashman, the Taskmaster is usually referred to as "Main Tom" or "Greater Tom", to the Taskmaster's Assistant's "Lesser Tom".
  • Troll: Messes with Danielle after her password task attempt even after she cried both during the task and in the studio, claiming that she dropped a rose, just to see how she'd react further.

    The Taskmaster's Assistant

Tom "Lesser Tom" Cashman (The Taskmaster's Assistant)

Appears in: Every AU episode

  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Eager and enthusiastic when helping the contestants out, and also just as eager to prod or sabotage them.
  • Covert Pervert: Portrayed as this by Danielle and Julia in the "make a dream come true" team task in "The Energy of a Sickly Child", where he was shown to fantasize about using a dragonfly-controlled remote camera to secretly spy on the women.
"I mean, lots of people will often, when they're asked what their favorite superpower would be, they talk about being invisible and sneaking around and looking at people nude and I just wanted a fly when I was twelve to look at what the goss was at my friends' houses and stuff and... (mumbles) Leave me alone."
  • Deadpan Snarker: Downplayed; while the snarkiness is there, Lesser Tom's much less deadpan and more emotive as an assistant. His manner with the contestants is usually more casual, outgoing, and friendly, which he uses to later mess with them and their attempts, as seen below.
  • The Gadfly: Makes things more difficult or humiliating for contestants on multiple occasions, like baiting Nina into bragging about how great her map of Australia was when he knew she'd drawn it on the wrong canvas or Julia into breaking character by answering his questions with complete sentences when she was supposed to be acting like a toddler who could barely speak.
  • In-Series Nickname: Since both the Taskmaster and his Assistant share Tom as a first name, Tom Gleeson the Taskmaster addresses Tom Cashman the Assistant as "Lesser Tom" to differentiate between the two.
  • Keet: Possesses a "just happy to be here" energy in his dynamic with Greater Tom. He's also very eager to assist contestants in their tasks when asked.
  • Rude Hero, Nice Sidekick: Will happily offer hints to struggling contestants and even go further in assisting them, in comparison to the Taskmaster usually tearing their attempts down.
