     Arthur Duncan 

Arthur Duncan

The fiscal of Inverness, and Geillis's husband. He dies in Outlander, after consuming cyanide that Geillis had placed in his food during the welcome banquet for the Duke of Sandringham at Castle Leoch for that very purpose.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: He is this, as the fiscal of Inverness. Though he doesn't have as much page-time as some of the other characters, it's clear that he's only trying to do his job and is very good at it.

Morag McKenzie

Wife of William Buccleigh McKenzie.
  • Nice Girl: Very sweet and kind. One has to wonder how a nice girl like that married a man like Buck.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Her defending of Roger after Buck caught him kissing her only further enraged Buck and led to him turning Roger in to be hanged as a rebel leader.

     Jeremiah McKenzie

     Lord Dunsany 

Lord Dunsany

The Lord of Helwater, husband of Lady Dunsay and father of Isobel and Geneva. He agrees to take on Jamie as an indentured parolee, despite having bitterness towards Jacobites due to his son having been killed at Culloden. He is a kind and fair man.

Lord Dunsay's wife, and mother of Geneva and Isobel.

     Geneva Dunsany 

Geneva Dunsany

A spoilt, spirited girl who develops an infatuation with Jamie during his time on parole in Helwater. After receiving news that she is to be married to an elderly man called Ellesmere, she blackmails Jamie into sleeping with her.
  • Death In Childbirth: She dies giving birth to Willie, because of internal complications which cause her to hemorrhage.

     Isobel Dunsany 

Isobel Dunsany

Geneva's sister, and later Lord John's wife and adoptive mother of William.

     Alexander Randall 

Alexander Randall

Jack Randall's younger brother, and Frank Randall's real ancestor. He is a clergyman who is in love with Mary Hawkins, but unable to wed her due to his low-born status.
  • Star-Crossed Lovers: Him and Mary. First their union is unaccepted by both the English and French nobility, with the Duke of Sandringham firing Alex from his job and sending him back to England, thus preventing them from getting married together. They are both devastated about this. Then when Mary finally has the chance to escape her life and be with Alex, she discovers that he is dying from tuberculosis and doesn't have much longer to live.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: He looks very like his brother Jack and his descendant Frank.

     Lizzie Wemyss 

Lizzie Wemyss

A bond-servant whom Brianna buys out of pity for her circumstances. She travels to the New World with her, and eventually settles on Fraser's Ridge.
  • The Atoner: After the Roger mess, Lizzie feels extremely guilty for her part in what happened to him, and drives Roger mad trying to make it up to him.
  • Delicate and Sickly: She contracts malaria while on her way to America with Bree and never fully recovers from it. Claire has to treat her for various relapses over the course of the series.
  • Polyamory: Eventually begins a relationship with both of the Beardsley twins, going as far as marrying them both and having their children with the exact paternity unknown (of course, since they're identical twins, even a modern blood test wouldn't be able to say which one was the father).

     Mr Wemyss

Lizzie's father. He is also a bond-servant and is bought and eventually freed by Jamie.

     The Christies

A lowlander who was imprisoned in Ardsmuir alongside Jamie.

Malva Christie

Daughter of Tom Christie, and sister/lover to Allan Christie.

     Murdina Bug 

Murdina Bug

Wife of Arch Bug. She is accidentally killed by Ian at the beginning of Echo.

20th Century

     Jeremiah McKenzie 

Jeremiah McKenzie (Jerry)

Roger's father. He was a World War II pilot who was shot down supposedly over the English Channel. In actuality he was shot down over Northumberland and was accidentally transported back in time time through the standing stones that were there. He was a generally decent man who was well loved by his family.
  • Action Dad: He was a fighter pilot during the Second World War; he had a son, Roger, who was still a small child when he disappeared.

     Reverend Reginald Wakefield 

Reverend Wakefield

An old minister who resides in Inverness, called 'Reggie' by his friends. He is the adopted father of Roger Wakefield McKenzie.

     Mrs Graham 

Mrs Graham

Reverend Wakefield's housekeeper.
