Awesome Music / Dragon Ball Z: Dokkan Battle

Go To

If there is one thing that Dokkan Battle is unambiguously good at, it's that they make some of the best boss music in the game, that only gets even BETTER as time flies by.

For reference, the songs are organized by the year they released in the Japanese version of the game.

    2nd Year Era (2017)
  • The theme that plays when you fight against STR Gogeta and INT Janemba. A surprisingly enthusiastic theme back in Dokkan's old days that could easily sum up one's excitement of seeing a fusion in action.
  • The theme that plays when you fight PHY SSB Vegito, AGL Rose, and INT SSB Vegeta in the final phase gives off a godly and heroic vibe that suits the opponents that you're fighting, yes that includes Goku Black himself.
  • The theme that plays when you fight the Super Saiyan 4 bosses, from the heroic Vegeta theme, to the Japanese themed music for Goku, to the wild feverish theme of Gogeta.

    3rd Year Era (2018)
  • The theme that plays when you fight against both LR Gogeta and Vegito along with MUI Goku where its organic themed music certainly give vibes that you are now fighting them at their strongest.
  • The theme that plays when you fight Ultra Instinct Goku where its resemblance to Ultimate Battle and heroic music gives off UI Goku's might. When you fight his Mastered UI form, his song changes to the just as awesome LR Gogeta and Vegito theme.
  • The theme that plays when you fight against Jiren's final phase. Its dark and intimidating music gives you the impression that you're fighting someone whose strength surpasses even the power of the Gods and Ultra Instinct.
  • Turles' Transformation theme is such a joy to hear whenever you trigger his power-up, giving you that grand feeling that you'll soon lay waste to your opponent.
  • The theme when you're on the final portion of the Goku Black fight, a theme worthy of the man himself.
  • Metal Coora's theme is perfect for a galactic ruler reborn as an immortal machine.
  • The Battlefield/Virtual Clash Main Theme when you first start it up. Who knew dubstep and rock combined would be so awesome?
  • According to polls in the game's subreddit, the most popular theme is that of AGL Super Saiyan Gogeta. It may just be the most awesome, highest-intensity metal track in the game!

    4th Year Era (2019)
  • Black Smoke Shenron's theme, not just for bringing in hype for the (potential) Dragon Ball GT themed 4th Anniversary, but for being scary accurate to his Japanese anime theme.
  • The theme for TEQ Hit is very fitting for Universe 6's trump card, and really drives the point home that the master of the Time-Skip is now fighting for real.
  • The transforming Future Trunks's theme is a bombastic orchestrated track that fits the future's last hope to a T. It really gives the impression of someone giving one last stand for humanity, putting all of their hope in one last strike. Especially if it plays when you yourself activate his Active Skill.
  • The theme for the transforming AGL Zamasu. After the dark metal theme of PHY Goku black, and the heroic metal of AGL Super Saiyan Rosé Goku Black, and the chaotic metal of STR Super Saiyan Rosé Goku Black, this theme is NOT a metal track. Instead, it's a terrifying orchestral track with heavy distorted bass perfectly reflecting Fused Zamasu's corrupted, yet ungodly powerful state!
  • Transforming Namek Goku's theme, one of the most popular tracks in the game, fitting the most well-known moment in the anime, and intense enough to give AGL Gogeta's a run for its money!
  • Piccolo's theme does justice to the fusion between the former Demon King and the Guardian of Earth, perfect for Piccolo's most remembered fight.
  • LR AGL Gohan's theme. Just like UI Goku's music where it's essentially Dokkan's version of Ultimate Battle, this one's essentially Dokkan's version of "Unmei no hi - Tamashii vs tamashii". Made even better when you transform Gohan, and this theme plays in the same way "Tamashii vs Tamashii" played in the anime.
  • LR INT Cell's fast-paced energetic theme pumps you up for your second wind against the enemy that brought you to your knees.

    5th Year Era (2020)
  • LR STR Gogeta's theme is a beautiful song made for the 5th anniversary, captivating the pure awesomeness of seeing Gogeta FINALLY in action (Canonically at least) in Dragon Ball Super: Broly after so many years since his last on-screen appearance. It effectively sounds like Gogeta's side alone of the infamous "Broly Vs Gogeta" track from the film!
  • LR TEQ Vegito's theme is fitting of the almighty Potara fusion who clashed against a mad god, giving off Vegito's powerful and exciting vibes he always brings around, along with a divine feeling mixed in from his power attained from his new Super Saiyan Blue form.
  • STR Kefla's theme is just like the hotheaded fusion herself: fast-paced, brash, intense and powerful. A perfect fit for Universe 6's roughneck trump card.
  • LR TEQ Jiren's theme is unlike any other Dokkan theme before - powerful, yet melancholic, and reflective of Jiren's tragic backstory.
  • The theme music when you start up Explosive Chain Battle. The first 30 seconds would feel right at home in an epic boss battle, then it gets into something you'd hear in a rave before ending up with a fusion of both parts.
  • STR Boujack's theme, a song that's a surprising mix of Irish tunes and full on rock. It gives off an exciting, intense, and vicious vibe of an intergalactic pirate who's ready to snap someone's neck.

     6th Year Era (2021)
  • LR AGL Ultra Instinct Goku's theme. Being made in the 6th Anniversary, this song pulls out all the stops to be one of the best, and the best attempt thus far to demonstrate Goku's increible power upon attaining Ultra Instinct in a grandiose yet mystical way, capturing the nature of this godly technique/form in one song.
  • On the other side of the 6th Anniversary, we have LR INT Super Saiyan Blue Evolution Vegeta's theme. A rock song that screams the determined willpower and heroism Vegeta had during his last stands against Toppo and Jiren in the Tournament of Power, truly showing how much of a hero he has become since the old days of him working under Frieza.
  • LR Android 17 (Universe 7)'s theme, a guitar-focused rock song that captures the pure, culminated determination Universe 7's last five fighters had together to save their universe.
  • Meanwhile, alongside LR Android 17 (Universe 7), we have LR Golden Frieza & Android 17's theme, a much more intense song that captures the desperation of the final stage of the Tournament of Power for Universe 7's last fighters to hold off the unstoppable Jiren as much as they could together when Goku was (temporarily) taken out of the picture.
  • Out of all the themes in the game, LR Tapion & Minotia's theme is a top candidate for the most grandiose. Ditching the classic Dragon Ball rock music in favor of a full orchestra, along with a flute section that not only sounds very similar to Tapion's theme from his movie but also matches perfectly with their Active Skill, this theme truly captures these legends of the Dragon Ball world.
  • PHY Super Saiyan Goku (GT)'s theme is something that's pretty much able to sum up GT's mix of both Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z's tones in an enthusiastic yet heroic theme that hinges on one's nostalgia of Dragon Ball GT. You can even hear the iconic piano notes of "Dan Dan Kokero Hikareteku" at points in the song!
  • LR TEQ Super Gogeta's theme starts out unlike any other Dokkan theme before it, sounding more like a typical anime intro or a Sonic track. But about 15 seconds in, they burst out the classic DBZ guitars to create a fantastic theme for the fusion warrior that just screams "the battle will be won, for the savior is here".
  • LR INT Super Saiyan Goku's theme, released for the 350M Download Celebration, defines the sheer epicness of the Super Saiyan's first debut and battle. The theme has a sense of heroism and determination from the rock theme, but also tension as well in the more quiet sections as if reflecting the stakes of the battle between Goku and Frieza.
  • LR AGL Full Power Frieza's theme gives the opposite of Super Saiyan Goku's theme. Brutal and intense, this song sums up the raw and terrifying fury and strength of one of Dragon Ball's most iconic villains.
  • Transforming AGL Future Trunks' theme is one of Dokkan's most energetic and heroic tracks yet. Bright and intense, it perfectly fits the moment when the second Super Saiyan first arrived on the scene.

    7th Year Era (2022)
  • In a surprising twist, the new themes for both of the new anniversary units, Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan Goku & Vegeta, and Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta are packed in threes this time around, plus something extra special for their Dokkan Events.
    • From PHY Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta:
      • The intro theme for Super Saiyan 4 Goku and Vegeta is perhaps one of the harder hitting songs of Dokkan Battle, emphasizing the sheer power of the primal forms these two rivals have claimed and are teaming up to demonstrate.
      • The first Active Skill theme that plays once Goku and Vegeta fuse into Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta. A fast paced song that takes a more heroic yet serious theme to demonstrate how powerful of a fusion Gogeta is at this point in Dragon Ball GT.
      • The second Active Skill theme, or rather the theme of Gogeta using the Ultra Big Bang Kamehameha. Behind one of the most iconic variants of Dragon Ball's most iconic attack is an incredibly heroic sounding theme, as if set to say the battle has already ended for the heroes' favor the moment this attack starts up.
      • For the final stage of Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta's Dokkan Event, and temporarily for The Ultimate Red Zone for the battle with Omega Shenron, we get a surprise showing of "Dan Dan Kokero Hikareteku", capping off this beautiful tribute to Dragon Ball GT with the series' iconic theme song.
    • From TEQ SSB Goku & Vegeta:
      • The Dragon Ball Super: Broly duo's intro theme is a low-key yet exciting theme, getting one pumped up for the upcoming battle. Fits quite well to the intro of Goku warming up for battle, and him and Vegeta launching straight up to Super Saiyan God.
      • SSG Goku & Vegeta's first Active Skill theme takes off as both Goku and Vegeta ascend to Super Saiyan Blue, a much more enthusiastic theme to emphasize the sheer thrill of a limit-shattering battle. Special mention goes to the pause to the sound of the ground shattering.
      • The second Active Skill theme of the Blue Duo in which they briefly fuse into Super Saiyan Blue Gogeta to outright decimate the opponent with the Stardust Breaker, taking off with a variation of the rhythm from Dragon Ball Super: Broly's "Gogeta Vs Broly" soundtrack before breaking off into an exciting tune to emphasize just how much they've won the battle.
      • For the final stage of Super Saiyan God SS Goku & Vegeta's Dokkan Event, and temporarily for The Ultimate Red Zone for the battle with Broly, we get a guest showing of "Blizzard", bringing back viewers to the hype back from when Dragon Ball Super: Broly first came out in theaters.
  • LR AGL Golden Frieza's Active Skill theme is perhaps one of the most brutal songs fitting of Frieza's grand return... or rather the highlight of his grand return, with the intense orchestral and guitar track perfectly capturing the emperor's mad desperation as he destroyed the Earth before Vegeta could finish him off.
  • The Active Skill theme for LR Fused Zamasu is perhaps one befitting a mad god, with an unholy orchestral opening to it before transitioning into an intense yet low-key rock tune as Zamasu proceeds to unleash divine wrath and hopeless despair onto the mortals that dare oppose him.
  • Pan's Active Skill theme gives a heartfelt yet determined rock song, quite the fitting track for Dragon Ball GT's resident Action Girl, especially with her teamwork alongside Goku and Trunks.
  • In a similar vein to LR Vegeta/Goku, LR Prime Battle Tien's Active Skill theme is a more somber one, depicting just how desperate the Z-Fighters' battle against the Saiyans was, especially with both Chiaotzu and Tien's determined, last-ditch efforts to try to stop Nappa.
  • In a bizarre move for Dokkan Battle, in commemoration of the upcoming 2022 Worldwide Celebration, we get something that no one was expecting: a rap song based around Cooler. And it is quite the sick rap, quickly getting across the point that this is Frieza's brother, he's going on a conquest, and Goku better pay attention to this foe or he's getting a Supernova to the Earth. The celebration was also able to squeeze in two classic movie themes performed by Hironobu Kageyama, "Tobikkiri no Saikyou tai Saikyou" and "Kimi ga HERO", for both the Cooler's Revenge and Return of Cooler segments respectively.
    • The theme for LR TEQ Super Saiyan Goku's Revival Skill is something special. Starting very subdued and somber with a slow violin and piano strings as Goku is laying down on the ground in base form, it quickly turns into a triumphant, hopeful and calm yet aggressive theme as he transforms into a Super Saiyan. It's the most viewed track from the 2022 Worldwide Celebration on Youtube, and with good reason. The theme for the same Goku's Active Skill starts off with a very pronounced synth section before transitioning into the classic Dragon Ball rock. It captures the moment when Goku is done with Cooler and the battle turns in his - or rather, your - favour.
    • The other featured LR of the first part of the celebration, STR Final Form Cooler, has his very own intro theme. It's very villainous and hard hitting - just like the unit himself - featuring heavy guitars and drums to let you know that Frieza's brother is here for your head. Cooler's Active Skill features a similar tone and instruments as his intro theme, but cranked up a few notches and throwing in a synth section at the start, this track suits the desperation one would feel when you see a Supernova heading in your planet's direction.
    • During the interim between part 1 and part 2 of said celebration, we got yet another rap, this time with Metal Cooler. This time, the track goes for a techno vibe, with a robotic filter being placed over the rapper.
