  • In the first book, a pair of Upper-Class Twit jerks are exposing how uneducated their maid and Old Red are over a bet by asking them questions neither of them can answer. Big Red casually rattles off a slew of impressive knowledge about the subject, humiliating the two jerks. Old Red may be the crime-solving genius, but his brother isn't to be underestimated.
  • The climactic shootout in the first book, particularly when Sheltered Aristocrat and Butt-Monkey Brackwell manages to kill one of the Co-Dragons.
  • The Crack in the Lens
    • Clueless Deputy Tommy knocks Dirty Cop Ike Rucker unconscious (using a trick Big Red offhandedly taught him) when he tries to remove the brothers from jail so that they'll be easy prey for a lynch mob.
    • Later, when the mob does nearly kill the Amlingmeyer brothers, several of their friends risk their lives to defend them. They are then joined by the fire and brimstone preacher and his congregation. When Ike Rucker is the last one still assaulting them, Marshal Milford Bales shows up to deck Rucker and demand order.
  • All of Old Red's Sherlock Scans and Summation Gatherings are pretty cool, but the one in World's Greatest Sleuth is the most impressive. It takes place before an entire crowd at the World Fair, during which he manages to expose a particularly formidable duo of criminals. When one of the goons tries to shoot Diana, Big Red shoots the man's gun out of his hand, and one of the more impressive guest characters tackles the guy. The man's partner tries to overpower Diana, only for her to break his nose. Everyone in the crowd insists on shaking hands with the Amlingmeyer brothers while chanting "World's Greatest Sleuth."
  • The shootout at the end of The Double-A Western Detective Agency, where (with the aid of a hidden sniper), the brothers and their clients gun down a trio of Hate Sink racist killers.
