TEG Chapter 2: Genocide, Hypocrisy and Bashing Negative Reviewers

Written By: Thomas
POV: Jerry
Deaths: Clarisse (1), Annabeth (1)

In the pre-chapter author's note, apparently, people are already starting to flame the author, including Theia47, SonnyGoten, ImagingThings and TheBratMan(whom I believe later came to be known as Benry). The author has Jesus damn them all to hell as well as Alistairlevi13 for supposedly serving Satan. Already, any hope of convincing him to change his ways has gone out the window.

The chapter begins with a brief note talking about prayer.

The Prayer Warriors meet to plan their attack on the nonbelievers, with the description of their goals from last chapter repeated except for expanding to include Jews (This is a bit of a departure from how Fundamentalist Christians are often protective of Jews and Israel, at least until they go to hell for not believing in Jesus), and applying their ambitions to the entire world. Said unbelievers will go to hell, where their body will be eaten by "foul breast(s)", and the Prayer Warriors are quite eager to send them there.

Of course, they start small, with a rational study group, which somehow goes against Jesus' teachings. The members, in full Card-Carrying Villain mode, yell "Hail Stan!" and declare their intention to send everyone to hell, where they will suffer the same fate Jerry described. They then declare "WE MUST KILL GOD! GOD IS DEAD!"

Jerry is somewhat "disheartened" to hear this, but not enough to extinguish his murderous rage. So when Clarisse LaRue, leader of the group (From what I know of canon, she's not the intellectual type, to say the least), charges him declaring her intent to kill him in the name of Zeus, God of Whores (while Zeus is probably Olympus's most notorious philanderer- which is saying a lot- this isn't his domain), he charges her, lops off his head, and has his group chase down and kill her fleeing followers. The bodies of the slain are left out for the scavengers, and the Prayer Warriors go so far as to post guards to ensure that they're never buried. Not only does this seem cruel and petty to dishonor the dead, but it also seems like a waste of manpower.

Proverbs 10:7 follows the massacre.

Next up on the list is a temple of Artemis, which offends Jerry because they sacrifice lambs "to the god of whores." He gives them an ultimatum that, in standard fare, is an overly long and dramatic speech that boils down to "convert or die." Unimpressed, the enemy claims responsibility for most of the major military conflicts America has been involved in over the course of the last century, and dismisses Christianity as "old and tired" (ignoring how Greek gods predate Christianity). But Jerry is unfazed, and declares that his way works.

He then charges her, drags her off, and slices her head open, leaving her body to rot. Apparently very proud of himself, he declares, in all capitals that "THE WHORE WAS FINALLY DEAD! AMEN AND AMEN AND AMEN!"

The Prayer Warriors celebrate with a party that, as they point out, does not have drinking and sex so that they will prove themselves better than the atheists. The chapter ends with a non-sequitur about how priests don't have sex. I've heard this depends from denomination to denomination, although later events imply that the author is a Catholic.

Next Installment: Jerry faces two problems: an enemy he can't effortlessly kill and an ally he can't trust.
