Part 1: Return of an Old Friend

AUTHOR'S NOTE: By now, you all know the drill when it comes to celebrities that show up here. Likewise, prepare yourself for the strangest story ever, not just what I'm—er, Story!Rika—is liveblogging. Therefore, viewer discretion is advised.

(we fade to Rika, still stuck as an Eldritch. It's been...a week since the fated battle, but she's back to her peppy self, mentally)

Rika: I'm starting to get a lot better with the tendrils thing...(moves her mouse) I'd love to liveblog Power Rangers Megaforce...maybe when I'm bored.

(she keeps in mind to do that next)

So what's next?

(looks at "Naruto Veangance Revelaitons")

Hell no.

(looks at "A Light in the Forest")

Meh.

(looks at "Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue")

Oh, I wish.

(Rika then takes note of a fanfiction...and yep, you guessed it, it's another one of the Power Rangers ones)

Huh. Wonder what this is about...

(takes a read, and then...)

Hoo boy, we got another one of those!

(she then notices that she has an audience)

Oh hi! From the batshit insane mind that brought you so many liveblogs comes...yet another Power Rangers fanfiction liveblog.

It's no secret that I like the Power Rangers franchise. I mean, hell, just how many things did I liveblog that featured them? Three (counting Pooh's Adventures of Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie), maybe more? And while I'd love to go on and on about seasons I love and don't care for, this is not the place.

First of all, I'd like to introduce you guys to the writer of the featured liveblog: Dakari-King Mykan. Who is he? Like a couple certain other fanfic writers, he prefers quantity over quality, having written over 150 stories as of this writing. Also, he ships Davis/Kari. I would mention about how he's the king of that type of ship, as well as his behavior.

But that's not what I'm going to focus on today, either.

Instead, I'm going to focus on one of his many fanfics, specifically Power Rangers: Revolution. As anyone might guess, it's characters from Liberty's Kids (yeah, remember that show?) and a Self-Insert becoming Rangers. How successful is this going to be? Well...

...it's basically Liberty's Kids meets Power Rangers Time Force, only instead of a mutant who may or may not be sympathetic, we instead have a 10-year-old college kid who also creates viruses. Seriously.

(meanwhile...)

(Three of the figures are discussing amongst themselves about a situation—a gold-clad being, a dark-clad being, and...ah, you expect for me to say "red-clad being", no?)

(Wrong.)

(The third being is a human, brunette-haired, and wearing a crimson cape, having replaced Aka Red. They are the Sentinel Knight, the Phantom Ranger...and Sean Cw Johnson, the Ultimate Red Legendary Ranger)

Sentinel Knight: So...we've received reports of odd happenings.

Sean: What are they, exactly?

Phantom Ranger: Reality messing up, people acting strangely, the usual. And no, it's not from the Eldritch. Nor Rika, this time.

Sean: That's a relief...I still remember the last time the girl was caught in a bigger danger. A-and it's not like I'm mad at her, no, far from it!

Phantom Ranger: ...right.

Sentinel Knight: What we would need to do is to assemble a team of Rangers and Sentai Warriors once more to combat the weirdness, and figure out what's causing it.

Sean: Works for me! I know some of the people who can join...

Phantom Ranger: ...?

Sean: Not only can we gather the other Legendary Rangers, but I think Jason will also do well once more. I mean, the man knows his Sentai stuff!

Phantom Ranger: And what of Alex and Ryota?

Sean: I think...it's time for Alex and Ryota to rest. If they need us, they'll just need to call us.

<And I know all too well about what happened to them last time...>

Phantom Ranger: And I know of one other person who can join. Remember how we mentioned about Catherine Grayson?

Sean: The girl? Yeah.

Phantom Ranger: You would be able to meet her. We're arranging a meeting in her world, and the Sentinel Knight will come with you.

Sentinel Knight: We want to make sure that you would be able to descend correctly. Don't want for you to become something else.

Sean: That would be a good idea.

Phantom Ranger: Good luck, Sean. And to the rest of the Rangers.

(Sean nods, and he and the Sentinel Knight descend)

(...meanwhile, in Japan...)

(The remaining five Legendary Rangers—Mao Ichimichi, Tori Hanson, Dan Ewing, Xander Bly, and Mako Shiraishi—wait for a few people. Then they arrive: Jason Smith, Matoi Tatsumi, and a bored-looking Christopher Khayman Lee)

Christopher: Another day, another time where the world fucks us over, huh?

Mao: That's...one way to put it. Sean told us to meet here, and yes, I do have the message.

Matoi: So what's happening?

Mao: What Chris said, pretty much. This time, though, we don't have a crazed liveblogger to save.

...I don't know about you guys, but I've been noticing something quite weird recently. Like...I was trying to visit Yui, but...

Tori: ...but?

Mao: She remembered me, but she couldn't quite remember our times in Gokaiger.

Xander: Isn't that normal, though?

Mao: I don't know. But anyway...we need to gather a few other actors, or characters, to help us.

Jason: I know exactly the right people to help! (he turns around and calls out) Okay, guys, come on out!

(then three people show up. Ladies and gentlemen, making their debuts are Ayumi Kinoshita, Naoki Domon, and Agri. They look at the gathered heroes)

Ayumi: ...who are you guys?

Mao: Oh, my God, Ayumi?!

Ayumi: Hey, Mao...what's up with the gathering?

Mao: Ranger business. I'll explain what happened later. But right now...

(finally, Sean and the Sentinel Knight arrive, along with a silver-haired young woman who still looks 16 years old, but is actually more than 6,530 years old. Said silver-haired woman is Catherine Grayson, the Ultimate Red Legendary Ranger of her world)

Catherine: Hey, guys, sorry we're—

Mako: CATHERINE! (hugs her) How've you been?

Catherine: Uhhhh...(is really taken aback by the sudden hug)

Matoi: It's nice to see you again, Miss Grayson.

Sean: Guys, I really know how much some of you have missed each other...(looks at a shocked Ayumi and a still-smiling Mako)...really missed each other...but we have to go right down to business. Lest if the world gets destroyed.

(he nods to the Sentinel Knight, and he unrolls a scroll)

Let's get started.

(and so, the meeting begins...)

(with Rika...)

Rika: So. Will this fanfic prove to be decent, or would it leave a lot more to be desired? Let's get started with...

(click!)

Chapter 1: Opening Theme

We begin the chapter with the obvious. Before we get started with the theme, we have our revealed Rangers. Or, at least, five of the six. Mykan will be the Red Ranger (surprising, no?), James will be the Yellow Ranger, Sarah will be the Pink Ranger, Henri will be the Blue Ranger, and Moses will be the Green Ranger. I'll tell you a bit more on those characters as we go forward.

And so, we get our theme song. It's actually kind of...ehhhhh. (does a "meh" pose) Of course, it doesn't help that, in the Author's Note, he actually borrowed some of the lyrics from the actual Liberty's Kids song.

You know, this? Back when Aaron Carter actually had a (little bit of a) career?

So after the theme song, and the numerous title drops, said Author's Note also adds that, yes, the Liberty's Kids will be the newest generation of Rangers. And speaking of said theme song, he admits that it's clever.

...once again, ehhh...

So far, aside from the fact that there has been some rip-offs, I don't see anything that infuriatingly stupid. Which is a nice change from...everything else I've liveblogged recently!

Will Rika be proven wrong with her statement? What will she encounter next? And what strangeness will the All-Stars V2.0 face off against?

Find out next time on the next Rika Liveblogs vs. Power Rangers: Revolution!

Hm... The story has a tad of an interesting premise, though all Mykan did was change the villain from Ransik to an expy of Malcolm Frink and change the Rangers' origins from "Time Police" to "Smart kid invents morphers and mechas."

The "tell, don't show" nature is pretty prevalent in Mykan's fanfic. He's blabbing on and on about himself and Ebenezer, then talks about Ebenezer's little time travel incident, even though he's doing a first-person perspective, meaning that he wouldn't be able to see that happen.

Well, that's one hurdle down. Twenty more to go.

Wow, the super short paragraphs just tell how much this is gonna suck. Not to mention, one chapter and we don't even see any ranger stuffs or explanations. Mentor figures, enemy organization? Where?

And uh... Liberty Kids? What is that? It's considered a crossover between that in the site, but not even TV Tropes has a page about it. A little exposition here?

@ Psyga: Admittedly, it does have an interesting premise, but the entire ideas are just...I dunno. And I've noticed quite a lot of "tell, don't show", either. And that bit about the first-person perspective is...I dunno. You'd think you'd use it in a third-person perspective, but...

@ ChrisX: I don't think there's really a mentor figure in this fic, but the villain organization, well...considering that we're told that Ebenezer here wants to change history so he wouldn't get picked on, I think he is the villain organization.

As for "Liberty's Kids", it's a show that teaches kids about the origins of the United States of America, focusing on the Revolutionary War. The Other Wiki has more information about the show, if you want to check that out, by googling the name of the show and clicking on the Other Wiki's link (because, for whatever reason, it wouldn't allow me to get the full name).

...sorry for the accidental added comment.

I think he is the villain organization.

Well, when you invented a machine that reanimates and grows anything, that's a clear sign you're gonna fall to the dark side... or have your gear stolen by another villain... or be manipulated into working with them.
