* TheRival: Averted with her successor Anette. Both women have spoken positive (albeit infrequent) things about each other at interviews and upon Anette's departure from the band saw her link to Website/YouTube videos of Tarja's solo efforts favourably. She's also friends with Anette's successor Floor Jansen (Nightwish and Floor's previous band Music/AfterForever toured together sometimes); the two have even appeared together in concert.

** There's an interesting story about him - Tarja was apparently attacked onstage by a crazed fan in Guadalajara, Mexico during a concert in 2000, and was sexually assaulted. Allegedly, Marcelo had to save her, despite Tuomas' being right beside her, and then nobody in the band cared to check on her after the incident, so she was left crying alone backstage until Marcelo comforted her. This was apparently the start of Tarja's dissatisfaction with the band.

--> "Okay, I was there (at the Roxy) in Guadalajara, Mexico. They had begun to play "Fantasmic", when a crazed fan jumped onto the stage and grabbed Tarja, embracing her passionately. The security guards and Marcelo intervened, with Marcelo pushing Tarja out of the way. Tarja either fell or was injured, and she threw her microphone to the floor and ran offstage for ten minutes. Tuomas then explained that they would be continuing onwards, even though it was obvious that Tarja was afraid (but she finished the concert anyways). For this reason, Nightwish cancelled their other concerts in Mexico, and Tarja was unwilling to appear before her Mexican fans."

[...] I went back on stage — there was something like three more songs to do — and I sang and cried, cried and sang. I couldn’t look anyone in the eye. After the gig I went straight to my hotel room, and Marcelo left me there. I couldn’t even take a shower, I just cried on the floor. How could something like this happen to me? Only after that incident did the people around me — the band, Ewo, and everyone else — start thinking that hey, we actually have a woman on board. After that they’ve kept their eyes open.’”

It was very strange to me that the band members left her alone and asked me to comfort her instead of them. Me, who had known Tarja for not longer than 9 days!”"
