* FoeYay: Stalyan definitely takes quite a bit of delight in messing with Rapunzel, and she's not hesitant to reciprocate. [[spoiler:With the "Eye Of Pincosta", where she makes a HeelFaceTurn, it's now LesYay.]]

* WhatDoYouMeanItsForKids: While the series is still lighthearted most of the time, especially after "Queen for a Day", the series has a lot of dark elements you would not expect in a kids show. With stuff like complex GreyAndGrayMorality with its villains, a MythArc that deals with the potential end of the world and the idea that Rapunzel could end up dying as a result. Season 3 ups this by dealing with the fallout of the betrayal of one of the main characters and, in the end, revealing the true BigBad as a villain who wants to explicitly kill everyone in Corona slowly and painfully.

Karmic Death doesn't count if the character isn't human (or at least if they aren't the universe's closest equivalent to one). Ditto if they get killed by one of the heroes. Also, Chained Sinkholes, though I've made at least a couple lol.

* WhatAnIdiot:
** Uncle Monty goading Rapunzel after she comes to ask him politely what she did wrong, and later tossing tomatoes at her statue. He gives her a lollipop that he dropped on the floor, and asks if she would toss him in the dungeon for booing at her. Rapunzel doesn't want to, but as he points out, she could have done so if she wanted. Not to mention that she's nearly engaged to a former thief who's engaged in petty behavior before reforming, and her father is an OverprotectiveDad who established DisproportionateRetribution for petty crimes. Those tomatoes tossed at her statue would count as vandalism as well as lese-majeste. Can anyone think of a better way to say "Arrest me now"?
** Quirin planning to [[spoiler:lie to the royal family about the spikes]] so as to get more land and save his family's/village's livelihood. As Cassandra had explained to Rapunzel, the spikes showed up after Rapunzel disappeared and thus would hold interest. It's hard to [[spoiler:blame Varian for trying to get rid of the spikes. What's worse is that it's heavily implied, in both the scene and in Frederic's confession in the season finale, that Quirin ''isn't'' actually lying but speaking in code to Frederic so that neither of them have to publicly mention the spikes. In that case, there's absolutely no reason he couldn't have just ''told'' Varian this, instead letting his son think he lied and doesn't actually care about dealing with the spikes.]]
** King Frederic sending elite mercenaries when [[spoiler:Rapunzel finds an important {{MacGuffin}}]] rather than talking to her about the spikes. The end result is that [[spoiler:Rapunzel nearly gets killed, and her childhood home gets destroyed when she, Cassandra and Eugene try to hide.]] She also is quite furious that he would do such a thing rather than tell the truth.
** In "Queen For A Day", Rapunzel was so traumatized by [[spoiler:turning away Varian's request to help his father]], and yet she didn't send a guard or ''someone'' to check up on him after the storm blew over. Even if the efforts didn't work, at least the trauma she would've gone through would've felt more natural, and [[spoiler: Varian could've been swayed from his StartOfDarkness]].
** Where would you rather spend the night: A leaky carriage during heavy rain, or the mysterious house in the middle of nowhere where mirror duplicates just tried to replace you and all your friends? If you chose safety over comfort, congrations! You're smarter than the main characters.
** Cassandra meets a mysterious entity in a house rigged with various magical traps. You'd expect her to be at least suspicious of this entity and her motives but [[HorribleJudgeOfCharacter Cassandra trusts the Enchanted Girl without question]], not even asking for her ''name''. The Enchanted Girl [[spoiler:turns out to be BigBad Zhan Tiri]]. In an impressive act of idiocy, Cassanda keeps trusting her even ''after'' discovering that.
** As "Rapunzel's Return" reveals, [[spoiler:Cassandra finds out her mother was Gothel and she abandoned her in a really heartbreaking moment. You'd expect Cass to be upset and angry, but you'd expect her to resent ''Gothel'', the one who abandoned her. Instead, Cassandra betrays her friends and throws away the life she had for her deceased mother who never loved her.]]
** In "Plus Est en Vous", Cassandra is a [[spoiler:BigBadWannabe due to Zhan Tiri's intervention, but also because of her own mistakes [[IneffectualSympatheticVillain (again)]]. She leaves the Mind Trap talisman at her black rock tower, which results in Edmund destroying it. While she ''did'' have Adira and Hector there beforehand, it would've been ''much'' safer to keep it with her. When she brings Rapunzel to her room, you'd expect her to check if Zhan Tiri is still in the cage she imprisoned her in, [[FailedASpotCheck but the thought never crosses her mind]]. ''Then'', when Zhan Tiri ''jumps on her'' to get the Sundrop and Moonstone, she doesn't even ''[[ForgotAboutHerPowers try]]'' using black rocks to pull the demon off her, and more or less ''allows'' Zhan Tiri to pull the Moonstone from her chest.]]

Figured Cassandra’s entry under Draco In Leather Pants could use a revision, primarily because 1) it’s outdated (“if she ever reforms”), 2) bits of it seem unprofessional (such as putting “Rapunzel’s fault” in both bold and italics), 3) its formatting could use some work (there are multiple sentences that simply list Cassandra’s misdeeds and the entry is generally longer than it needs to be) and 4) the bullet point below about Rapunzel viewing Cassandra the same way In-Universe is superfluous and detracts from the main point of the trope (a villain is treated more sympathetically by the fanbase than they are In-Universe).

** In Season 3, [[spoiler: Cassandra gets this treatment. Her fall to the dark side is written to be a sympathetic one, since she spent the first two seasons feeling like she was living in Rapunzel's shadow as a servant girl standing next to royalty, and she has a depressing backstory where she was abandoned by Gothel as a toddler. As such, you'll find plenty of people excusing her actions and arguing that she isn't really a villain, her choices are everyone else's fault for not being better friends to her, and she should have zero repercussions for her actions if she ever reforms. These claims usually ignore that Cassandra chose to turn her back on everyone she's ever known and throw away her entire life to put her trust in someone she knows literally nothing about, simply because they promised her the power and status she craves. She tries to murder Rapunzel and the rest of her former friends many times over to get them out of her way. She has zero problems magically enslaving people to use them as her pawns, despite having a complex about feeling used herself, making her a major hypocrite. And she constantly insists it's '''''Rapunzel's fault''''' for stealing her mother's 'love' when she was kidnapped by Gothel as a baby, repeatedly victim-blaming Rapunzel for the eighteen years of abuse she suffered at Gothel's hands out of jealousy. Cassandra herself acknowledges in "Nothing Left To Lose" that she'll do '''anything''' to get what she wants, up to the point of murdering people, and that her choices to be this way were her own to make.]]
** Interestingly, [[spoiler:Rapunzel has this view of Cassandra InUniverse as well, repeatedly insisting she is still her friend and a good person deep down, as well as defending her motives, despite Cassandra's numerous attempts to kill her, and her plan to take over Corona, to the point of being reluctant to approve of Varian and Eugene's weapon that is meant to encase her in amber (only for the safety of Corona).]]

* SomeAnvilsNeedToBeDropped: As shown with Rapunzel and Cassandra, even strong friends will want different things in life. If life takes your friend in a different direction, be prepared to support that friend, even if it means being apart. Of course, being apart does not mean your friend will be gone from your life.

* TransAudienceInterpretation: Prior to Season 3 Zhan Tiri was treated as male, even in-universe. Then when that season came, her backstory revealed her true gender is female, and that a male demon/warlock was one of her forms she shapeshifted into. This led to a good number of fans to headcanon her as gender fluid at the very least.

*** Were Cassandra and Rapunzel ever really friends, or did Rapunzel just so lonely for a best friend she latched onto the first woman her own age to ever be part of her life?[[note]]She quickly decides she's in love with the first ''man'' she's ever met, though that works out well.[[/note]] Season 1 shows her forcing herself into Cassandra's life on more than one occasion. It's mentioned that when they first met, Rapunzel spent weeks trying to treat Cassandra as a friend despite Cassandra's repeated objections. Given how Rapunzel's family employs both her and her father, and King Frederic's overprotective nature, it's likely Cassandra felt pressured to go along with it despite Rapunzel not intending this. By Season 3, Rapunzel is still insisting Cassandra is her friend [[spoiler:despite Cassandra's multiple murder attempts, to the point she objects to Eugene and Varian building a ''nonlethal'' weapon to defend against Cassandra]]. The person Rapunzel believes Cassandra to be is not the same person anyone else sees.
