** When Duffy is submitted to ColdBloodedTorture, his chest where is heart is supposed to be gets cut open first, resulting in a lot of blood spurting and Duffy screaming in horror and pain. This is more unsettling when in 2014 Duffy's actor Stephen Lee passed away from a heart attack.

* AlternateCharacterInterpretation: Hob. While lots of people will simply dismiss his death as deserved and be confused or offended that his death is played as a tragedy keep in mind that Hob is 12, seems to have no family other than his gang, has [[AxCrazy Cain]] as a father figure, and is routinely exposed to humanity at its worst, is it really any wonder that he behaves the way he does? It's also implied in several scenes that he's not nearly as bad as he seems and a lot has to do with him merely trying to survive his situation. When he abandons Cain to his death it could be because he doesn't care or it could be because he hates Cain for years of abuse and is happy to see him gone. He is also visibly horrified and ForcedToWatch another human being being vivisected in front of him. He has to constantly prove that he has value to his gang or be abandoned or worse and that activity always involves crime or doing terrible things. As much as people might dislike Hob, it's almost certain he never had a say in the circumstances he was brought up in and never had the choice to be anything else.

What an Idiot is now Flame Bait

** The 3D model on [=RoboCain's=] screen holds up quite well, and evokes UncannyValley very effectively. It was done by laser-scanning actor Tom Noonan's face in real time as he made the expressions.
** The animatronic face of Peter Weller on the disassembled [=RoboCop=] wincing in pain is very convincing.
* WhatAnIdiot:
** Faxx, you honestly thought it was a good idea to put the mind of the city's greatest drug dealer and a serial killer into the body of a nearly unstoppable robot, all under the pretense that that you think he's under your control as long as he doesn't reach his controls? And her arrogance got countless lives lost in the process.
*** You'd think a psychiatrist would stop and think beyond "step 1: what sort of personality could survive being transplanted into a cyborg?" to reach and logically answer "step 2: is this the sort of personality we would ''want'' running around in a combat-grade cyborg?"
*** She even seems to go out of her way to make Cain's transformation as traumatic as possible: basically kills him via asphyxiation by turning off his life support (cue rapid brain damage due to oxygen loss), and doesn't bother having Cain's jar moved as she confers with a surgeon ''holding the remains of Cain's head in front of Cain's eyes''. Faxx chose a drug-addicted murderer for Robocop 2's candidate and did it in the most horrifying manner, and somehow didn't think Cain wouldn't go berserk at first opportunity.
*** Given that she's completely unheard of by the 3rd movie clearly states that she committed career suicide and no doubt serving time for her actions.
** Whose bright idea was it to hand the Old Man a canister of ''real'' Nuke to show off in front of the press? In his defense, he probably didn't ''know'' that the brain in [=RoboCop=] 2 was that of the former Nuke-worshipping drug-lord, Cain, though since he did approve of her putting brains of deranged criminals into Cyborgs he still should have been aware of the danger that would result from it. For that matter, how could the Old Man be the only one in the company to let Dr. Faxx's sex appeal make him forget that sticking psychopath's brains in cyborg bodies is an ''obviously bad idea''? Everyone else she brought it up with, from her primary surgeon/programmer to Mr. Johnson, the Old Man's 2nd in command, immediately saw this was a stupid idea.
** On that point, giving [=RoboCain=] a loaded [[GatlingGood gatling gun]] isn't exactly a smart move either. Then again, given that the same thing happened with the ED-209 in the first film, [[IncompetenceInc it's in character for OCP to do so]].
** Handing Robocop back to the city. Yeah, it's probably to make a statement, but he's clearly functional enough to be rebuilt.
** Murphy wouldn't have nearly as much trouble with Hob if he just carried a nonlethal weapon like most real-life cops do anyway.

* SoBleakItsBoring: The main issue most people who didn't like the film had with it. It was one of the reasons Creator/PeterWeller did not return for the third movie (along with how uncomfortable the suit was). A few scenes showing Robocop's humanity were also cut from the final film. In particular, many critics (including Creator/RogerEbert) were offended by the character of Hob, thinking that putting a murderous SirSwearsALot 12 year old in an R-rated movie was taking things too far; not to mention, an even greater level of violence compared to the first film and the frequent, explicit hard drug use (albeit of a fictional drug).

Basically the problem is, if he wasn't a kid, the audience probably would have been ''cheering''.]] It has also been said, according to some fans, that [[spoiler: Hob brought his death on himself. Hob was the one who made the decision to leave Cain for dead, which likely factored into Robo-Cain killing Hob, and there was the glee he took in damaging Robocop and trying to garrote Officer Lewis (even taunting her about it: "You're looking a little out of breath, bitch)]].\\\
Though it could be argued that [[spoiler: Hob being a child makes him more sympathetic in spite of his sociopathic tendencies because, unlike an adult, it's implied that [[DrivenToVillainy Hob had little choice in being a gangster.]] Hob was by all indications most likely an orphan and when your father figure is someone like [[AxCrazy Cain]] it's hard to see how Hob could have turned out any other way (Hob was in fact deeply troubled and disgusted by Officer Duffy being vivisected and Cain [[ForcedToWatch held his face toward the screaming man being cut up).]] Keep in mind to that Hob is still a child and hasn't experienced anything beyond his violent upbringing which means it's all he know so even when they have to leave Cain and he still acts like a criminal, it's because it's all he has to fall back on.]]

** When Duffy is submitted to ColdBloodedTorture, his chest where is heart is supposed to be gets cut open first, resulting in a lot of blood spurting and Duffy screaming in horror and pain. This is more unsettling when in 2014 Duffy's actor Stephen Lee passed away form a heart attack.

* CrossesTheLineTwice: The proud debuts of the failed [=RoboCop=] 2 candidates. A multiple murder-suicide is tragic and horrifying. The fact that the failed candidate keeps mumbling "STOP OR I'LL SHOOT" in increasingly inarticulate fashion, and then after blowing its own brains out, deploys sirens? Hilarious.
