Stockholm Syndrome is a disambiguation

Of course a lot of bad stuff has happened to him over the years, but Doug confirmed he was having StockholmSyndrome over the course of ''Princess Diaries II'' review, he literally drops to the ground in fear after seeing her again in ''Christmas Story II'', looks like he might cry in the Midwest Media Expo vlog when she asks him to build a snowman with her, the ''Transformers'' crossover with Erod has him apparently not even going home at night (while the 2015 nostalgiaween opening is just him working, not being in his bedroom), and not long after the first review, there's more talk of nightmares, especially ones where he's exposed. Also he even says in ''The Sixth Day'' review (again not long after the first one) that he wakes up every morning scared and screaming.

...of Douglas Walker. The status of their clone progenitor is unknown. But in the TGWTG 'verse, perfect human cloning exists (see Linkara's ComicBook/XMen #424 review). This explains why NC, CAB and TGWTG can all be seen in the same conversation and why NC keeps coming back even after being killed several times. Or maybe [[{{Transformers}} Optimus Prime]] just likes dying for him :)

...a.k.a. Teddy Ruxpin. Well, think about it. At the end of the Halloween '08 special, that demon bear ostensibly killed the Critic; how else would you come out of a conflict with {{Satan}} except by selling your soul? Further proof: [[RunningGag the number of times]] he's [[DeathIsCheap come back to life]]. Sure, [[{{Transformers}} Optimus Prime]] brought him back once, but the sheer number of times he's died and come back is [[RuleofFunny absurd]]. It's even [[LampshadeHanging lampshaded]] by Chester A. Bum in his review of the fight. We really see the fruits of this little deal later on, in the Final Battle with WebVideo/TheAngryVideoGameNerd, when the Critic, well, shoots lightning and resembles the devil, with no real explanation. He then resembles a different devil and bellows [[SkywardScream DIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE]] at the end of his ''Film/GoodBurger'' review, with, again, no real explanation.

And it's not like Critic's talking to nobody, but they exist just for him and when he needs them (for instance, they forced him to do ''WesternAnimation/TheLorax'' and they don't show up for the next two episodes, instead we get the ego-stroking he wants and that they just can't provide with a fangirl and Willy Wonka), Doug confirmed in the Disney Afternoon commentary that Critic treats them like toys which feeds into his need for power, Rachel left and hasn't been thought of since, he's had to put them in glasses to make them smarter, Tamara is literally there to be a more violent SatelliteLoveInterest, Kyle and Paw were confused when he talked to Rachel and Malcolm in the ''Film/{{Les Miserables|2012}}'' review, and as the reboot is teaming with "The Review Must Go On" references, it'd be more weird if something ''wasn't'' happening.

Evident through the following: short hair, goatee and glasses for one. Also, [[spoiler: he destroyed a DVD copy of Film/TheNeverendingStory III with a crowbar]], and sometimes he tends to lose his voice. Perhaps at a future review, he'd be at a rage so bad that he would lose his voice for good. After that, instead of watching shitty movies, he will move on to Theoretical Physics, go to MIT, and wind up working at Black Mesa after graduating.

Stretching the WMG a little further, at the end of the Nostalgia Critic's [[UpToEleven Top 11]] [[Franchise/DisneyAnimatedCanon Disney]] Villains, he puts [[spoiler:Chernobog]] at Number 1, likely at the request of Teddy Ruxpin. It seems Teddy objected to the review anyway, most likely disliking the Nostalgia Critic's apparent pleasure at [[spoiler:the heavenly light the devil]] is no match for; either that, or Teddy was objecting to the Critic [[spoiler:saying that if the devil had a form, that's what he would look like, because that cute little creepy plush teddy bear really is the Devil's true form]], which is of course why [[spoiler:his computer was possessed]] at the end of the video.

Let's look at what he's said and how he's acted in the past. He says defensively that he was an early bloomer, he's desperate for any kind of attention and has had a generally unsafe sex life for a very long time, he's complained about being ugly as a child (so would want someone to like him), his parents did the sensible thing for a change and taught him about stranger danger, he was curious enough in the commercials to call suspected pedophiles and didn't hang up despite being disgusted, and in ''Film/{{Hook}}'' he assumes everyone has repressed childhood memories. Plus, it would fit the AdultFear-laden[=/=]HilariouslyAbusiveChildhood angle he's always taken.

Why did he do it? Maybe he still felt bitter over the events of ''Film/TheTenCommandments'' vs. ''WesternAnimation/ThePrinceOfEgypt''. Maybe he was punishing the Critic for letting Santa Claus die in his nostalgic commercial special. Maybe he's just a [[JerkassGods dick.]] The point is, God felt like making the Critic feel rotten, so he redirected his guardian angel's pathway to a random reality, possibly realities, where everything worked out for the TGWTG crew, and the guardian angel.

That or just do the talking. Because, lets face it, it's going to happen again and Doug seems to be running out of ideas. He's done one video mute, he's done a silent film, and he's called in Spoony and Linkara ([[AndZoidberg and Microsoft Sam!]])

[[WMG: Doug has Asperger's.]]
That may explain some of the issues former Channel Awesome contributors has with Doug Walker. Typical characteristics of Asperger's include narrow interests or one-track minds, the inability to gauge other people's feelings, odd speech patterns like long rambling tangents, literal thinking or {{Cloudcuckoolander}} tendencies. This may explain his breakdown on the set of ''To Boldly Flee'' and inability to grasp the subtexts of ''The Wall''.
