* WhatCouldHaveBeen:
** Creator/SeanConnery was cast as Cassim but had to drop out due to other commitments.
** The initiation fight between Aladdin and Sa'Luk, and the "Welcome To The Forty Thieves" sequence afterwards, was originally animated with visible blood on Aladdin's left arm where Sa'Luk slashes him. The bloodstain was mostly edited out of the finished film, though some [[https://i1.wp.com/caps.pictures/199/6-aladdin-king-thieves/full/aladdin-king-disneyscreencaps.com-3602.jpg?strip=all darkly-lit shots]] [[FreezeFrameBonus still included it]].
** The TriumphantReprise of Arabian Nights at the end of this movie was originally meant for the end of the original film when the Peddler was slated to be the narrator, who would appear at certain points to give the audience the scoop on the story so far through various reprises of Arabian Nights. This reprise, in particular, would've been sung as the Peddler packed up all his stuff, hopped onto his camel and went [[RidingIntoTheSunset riding into the night]], saying goodbye to the audience to mark the end of the legend.

This same page says he was never considered to be the main villain

** Mozenrath was originally planned as the villain in the third film. However, whether he would actually be Aladdin's brother is another story - this is fan speculation, not WordOfGod. Mozenrath was ultimately not used, due to them wanting to diverge from the TV series and Jonathan Brandis being difficult to contact.

* GodNeverSaidThat: There was a long-standing rumor that Mozenrath was originally going to be the main antagonist of the film and possibly even revealed to be Aladdin’s brother. However in 2017 [[WordOfGod the director of the film Tad Stones confirmed on Twitter]] [[https://twitter.com/TadStones/status/936008915187261440 that neither of these plotlines were ever considered for the film]], [[https://twitter.com/TadStones/status/936115496314855430 and that the rumors were simply fan speculation.]]

* TheOriginalDarrin: After being replaced by Creator/DanCastellaneta for the TV series and the first sequel, Robin Williams returns to voice the Genie here. This film was Williams' only true reprisal of the Genie character (aside from the "Great Minds Think For Themselves" segments Disney made for ''Creator/{{One Saturday Morning|AndABCKids}}'' a couple years later).

* NonSingingVoice: Once again Brad Kane and Liz Callaway respectively fill in for Creator/ScottWeinger and Creator/LindaLarkin as Aladdin and Jasmine's singing voices. In addition, Merwyn Foard fills in for John Rhys-Davies as Cassim's singing voice.

** While Linda Larkin still voices Jasmine, Liz Callaway takes over from Lea Salonga as her singing voice.

Less than five years after the initial installment. Trivia is already covered in The Original Darrin and The Other Marty entries.

* RoleReprise: While the voice cast from ''Aladdin'' the TV series would return, the biggest surprise was that Creator/RobinWilliams would voice the Genie once more, replacing TheOtherDarrin Creator/DanCastellaneta.

** Iago says the line of "Doesn't get any bigger than that!" Nowhere in the film does he say this. It is possible that he could have said this line when Cassim mentions the Hand of Midas for the first time, calling it "The Big One".

* MoneyDearBoy: One of the two reasons that Robin Williams agreed to reprise the roll of the Genie, the other being that Disney formally apologized to him for violating their agreement with him to not heavily feature him in the marketing for the first film. In contrast to the first film, where he accepted union rate pay, he received $1 million for this one.

* ActorAllusion:
** In an attempt to cheer up Jasmine, Genie takes on the role of an [[Film/MrsDoubtfire elderly British nanny]].
** Initially, Cassim was supposed to be voiced by Creator/SeanConnery, in a film with similar themes to Connery's own ''Franchise/IndianaJones'' appearance, but was instead voiced by his co-star Creator/JohnRhysDavies.
** Sa'luk is [[spoiler: turned into a gold statue and frozen with both his hands raised in the air]]. This is similar to the typical pose that [[Disney/BeautyAndTheBeast Lumiere]] is shown in, and both characters were voiced by Jerry Orbach.

** A coloring book released around the time of the film shows Genie as a rocker, something that does not happen while he is trying to cheer Jasmine up.
