** Big Mom would've become the Pirate King already had her daughter Lola not run away from home the day she was supposed to marry the prince of Elbaf, Loki. Big Mom herself knows it, and because of this, she nurses one hell of a grudge towards her and wants Lola killed.
** Sanji becoming the person he is today started with Sora and her motherly compassion. Had Sora not intervened when Judge decided to weaponize her quadruplet sons in utero, he would have come out as bad as his brothers. It's also what ultimately saves the whole family's asses from being riddled with "candy-sized holes" when they're bound and without any means of retaliation.
** Pudding and her family were expecting Sanji to [[FreakinessShame react horribly]] to Pudding's ThirdEye, something that their whole plan to kill the Vinsmokes hinged on. Instead, Sanji decides to [[FreakyIsCool compliment it]], something that [[BrokenBird Pudding]] did ''not'' expect.
** Jarl's decision to forgive Big Mom for killing Jorl had a lot of repercussions in the ''One Piece'' world, as several things would not have happened if Jarl killed her instead.

* FakinMacGuffin: When Brook is held custody by a sleeping Big Mom, the Straw Hats plan to put a normal skeleton with seaweed hair as a replacement. It seemed to work too, given that when she wakes up, she only thought her "skeleton toy" is dead [[AttentionDeficitOohShiny]] and then is distracted with the whole tea party.

*** Sanji has PeekABangs covering one eye, while Pudding doesn't... except ''her'' bangs cover her ThirdEye.

** The Vinsmoke males, barring Sanji who is the [[BadassBaritone inverse]], all have deep, arrogant-sounding voices. Niji's voice is perhaps the deepest of his family.

* FaceDeathWithDignity: When Big Mom's plot to kill the Vinsmokes finally comes to light, her intended victims are already at gunpoint, and only Judge starts to break down and beg for his life. Played straight with Reiju as she calmly accepts her family's impending KarmicDeath, while Ichiji, Niji and Yonji deconstructs it: they all just laugh it off as Reiju silently notes that they're literally unable to fear death because of what Judge had done to them, and it's shown as a bad thing.

* DifficultySpike: Doflamingo, being a Warlord, was just the warm-up. Luffy's taking on a Pirate Emperor this time, so naturally things start getting much tougher than they have been. Once they actually arrive near the island, Brulee traps them in the Seducing Woods, easily captures Carrot and Chopper while forcing Nami to retreat. When Brulee's brother Cracker joins the fight, Luffy finds that his Armament Haki is the toughest he's seen so far and Gears Two and Three have virtually no effect (which was bad enough when it didn't work on Doflamingo. But that was understandable since he was the BigBad of his arc. This arc? Cracker is just one of Big Mom's ''commanders''). Brulee also states that most of the Eleven Supernovas that came to the island wound up fleeing with their tails between their legs without having even ''seen'' Big Mom because of how tough her forces are. Only Urouge made some progress by taking out one of her commanders before having to retreat and Capone decided to join up with Big Mom instead of fighting her. Later on, Katakuri turns out to be ''the'' strongest opponent Luffy has faced, and he's only the leader of the Sweet Commanders; while Luffy eventually wins, he comes out with severe injuries and thus too exhausted to move when the escape plan's in motion. But the rest of the Charlotte family (the ones who can fight, at least) are also super-strong, making Doflamingo's pirate crew look like babies in comparison -- when Bege's assassination plan went completely belly-up, everyone was surrounded and shortly defeated by Big Mom and several of her children, and were only saved by the Tamatebako suddenly exploding and toppling Whole Cake Chateau. The only reason why the Straw Hats ''narrowly'' escaped Totto Land at all was because they received help from the Sun Pirates and Germa 66.

** Vinsmoke Niji has a downward pompadour that cranks Franky's old pre-TimeSkip Cola-depleted hairstyle UpToEleven. While he isn't a delinquent, he is an evil and spiteful RoyalBrat who cares for no one but himself.

* GeneticEngineeringIsTheNewNuke: Judge stated that his children are a result of extensive genetic modifications with seemingly limitless potential, never bound to normal human limitations. It explains how Niji, Ichiji, and Reiju have special abilities despite not being Devil Fruit users, and how Niji, Ichiji, and Yonji can fight without being hampered by certain emotions like fear. [[RealityEnsues This is later shown to be a bad idea]], as genetically robbing people of empathy and giving them superpowers to win wars would turn them into irredeemable monsters who only know how to kill and cause suffering wherever they go. Reiju, as the only Vinsmoke child alongside Sanji to still have empathy, ends up so distraught over her family's atrocities that she wants to die to atone for her involvement in them.
