Many of the longtime cast members joined their current stars, and Muppets that hadn't appeared for years were featured as the show celebrated its worldwide impact. The special marked the last appearance of Caroll Spinney, the longtime voice and Muppeteer behind Big Bird and Oscar, as he died less than a month after the special aired on HBO and PBS.

*** ''Series/KamenRiderRevice'' first debuted with a preview episode accompanying the aforementioned ''Super Hero Senki'' movie, and later teamed up with Saber in ''Kamen Rider Beyond Generations'' where they interacted with both a Rider from 50 years in the past (the original) and 50 in the future. The series itself is based around the DealWithTheDevil, as a way of taking the franchise's PhlebotinumRebel themes to a logical conclusion. Visually, ''Revice'' incorporates the number 50 as a design element in things like the heroes' armor and gear and the series logo, and their alternate forms are also designed as homages to previous Riders, justified by their techie who made the gear being a fan of the Riders himself (though unlike ''Decade'' and ''Zi-O'', this only involves visual references and not flat-out PowerCopying).

** The 2018-19 season, ''Series/KamenRiderZiO'', is not only the 20th Heisei season, but the ''last'' Heisei season due to Emperor Akihito abdicating the throne and ending Japan's Heisei era. As a result, ''Zi-O'' is a CrisisCrossover similar to ''Decade'' involving all 20 Heisei shows as the era's GrandFinale. The series also followed in ''Gokaiger''[='s=] footsteps by getting actors from all the other Heisei seasons for {{Cameo}}s, managing to get 11 of the 19 main Riders to appear in person,[[note]]''Fourze'''s Souta Fukushi couldn't appear in the flesh because he was tied up filming ''Film/{{Bleach}}'', but he was able to record voiceovers that were used along with a FakeShemp dressed in Gentaro's costumes[[/note]] some of them for the first time in years.

* As a LongRunner, ''Series/DoctorWho'' and its [[Franchise/DoctorWhoExpandedUniverse Expanded Universe]] have a plethora of anniversary stories. Uniquely, since the show was largely off the air during the anniversary periods of 1993 to 2003, it was up to the expanded universe to pick up the slack during those years.
** 10th anniversary (1973): "[[Recap/DoctorWhoS10E1TheThreeDoctors The Three Doctors]]", a ReunionShow that concludes the Doctor's exile on Earth since 1970. Interestingly, it didn't mark the actual date of the anniversary, being aired almost a year beforehand; instead, it marked the beginning of the show's tenth season.
** Averted with "[[Recap/DoctorWhoS16E3TheStonesOfBlood The Stones of Blood]]", which was the 100th story and aired on the show's 15th anniversary (1978). It was going to start with a scene where the Doctor and Romana celebrated his birthday with a cake, but producer Graham Williams wisely vetoed it as too self-congratulatory. (The cake had already been ordered, and was eaten by the cast and crew during production.)
** 20th anniversary (1983): "[[Recap/DoctorWho20thASTheFiveDoctors The Five Doctors]]", another ReunionShow. Unlike the other two canon TV anniversary reunion episodes, this one didn't mark a major status quo change for the Doctor (unless you count him getting a spiffy new TARDIS console).
** 1985 saw the 100th [[Literature/DoctorWhoNovelisations Target novelisation]], Creator/RobertHolmes' adaptation of his TV story "[[Recap/DoctorWhoS22E4TheTwoDoctors The Two Doctors]]", with an introduction by Creator/JohnNathanTurner, the TV series' producer at the time.

*** Multiplatform: ''Doom's Day'', a transmedia series following Doom, the Universe's greatest assassin, as she travels through space and time chasing the Doctor, who she needs to rescue her from Death, with only 24 hours and a vortex manipulator to do so, featuring the appearance of several fan-favourite characters and the occasional PunnyTitle riffing on the series's existing ''Doomsday'' titles ("Four to Doomsday" and "Doomsday").

** ''Series/StarTrekVoyager'''s 100th episode, "[[Recap/StarTrekVoyagerS5E6Timeless Timeless]]", featured the destruction of Voyager with only two survivors from a botched attempt to return home. Harry and Chakotay used TimeTravel to SetRightWhatOnceWentWrong, which made them fugitives of Starfleet. Adding to the occasion was guest star Creator/LeVarBurton, who also directed the episode.

** ''Series/PowerRangersCosmicFury'' is set to the the franchise's 30th anniversary series with the cast of ''Series/PowerRangersDinoFury'' continuing where they left off. ** The 20th anniversary show in 2023 had Creator/GeorgeClooney, Music/SnoopDogg, and Music/{{Coldplay}}, who were all Jimmy's first guests, appearing again.

* For ''Series/JimmyKimmelLive'''s 10th anniversary show in 2013, Creator/MattDamon, Creator/JimmyKimmel's SitcomArchNemesis, staged a HostileShowTakeover, renaming the show ''Jimmy Kimmel Sucks!''. Jimmy was tied up, gagged, and relegated to the background, while Matt interviewed various people who all proclaimed their hatred for Jimmy.

** The 20th anniversary was celebrated only two years later, due to ''Goranger'' and ''J.A.K.Q.'' being incorporated into the franchise. ''Series/ChourikiSentaiOhranger'' (1995-96) had a team with the same colors as ''Goranger'', were part of a military organization, and brought back Hiroshi Miyauchi, star of both ''Goranger'' and ''J.A.K.Q.'' as a new character whom functioned as TheMentor. ** For ''Series/{{Ultraman}}'''s 30th anniversary in 1996, Tsuburaya made ''Series/UltramanTiga'', marking the first full-fledged series after 15 years of short-lived foreign productions, movies, and the like. More specifically, the 49th episode "The Ultra Star" was the series' celebratory episode, featuring the protagonist travelling go to 1965 and meeting franchise creator Creator/EijiTsuburaya, as well as Tiga teaming up with the original Ultraman!

** In 2006, ''Series/UltramanMebius'' and its tie-in movie ''Ultraman Mebius & The Ultra Brothers'' were made "Comemmorating 40 Years of ''Ultraman''", revisiting the original Showa era universe (''Ultraman'' to ''Ultraman 80'') after 25 years of {{alternate universe}}s and featuring returning actors, characters and monsters from there.

** ''Series/UltramanGinga'' was created in 2013 to celebrate Tsuburaya's 50th anniversary. Despite the franchise struggling at the time (it had been six years since ''Mebius'' ended, and since then there had only been spinoffs, movies and videos, and repackaged reruns) and being made on a tight budget, ''Ginga'' was successful enough to launch a full {{Revival}} and start a multi-year run of new ''Ultraman'' series.

** 2016 marked the 50th anniversary of ''Series/{{Ultraman}}'' as well as the 20th anniversary of ''Series/UltramanTiga''. So, Tsuburaya celebrated with an ''Series/UltramanX'' movie featuring guest appearances from Ultraman and Tiga (as well as their respective iconic foes Antlar and Fire Golza) and the series ''Series/UltramanOrb'', where the title hero is able to call upon the powers of previous Ultramen, most prominently Ultraman and Tiga. ''Ultraman Orb'' would go on to celebrate ''Series/{{Ultraseven}}'' and ''Series/UltramanDyna'''s respective 50th and 20th anniversaries in 2017 by having the respective heroes prominently (and respectively) guest star in a movie and a spinoff series.

** 2021 marks the 55th anniversary of the franchise and 25th anniversary of ''Series/UltramanTiga''. While Tsuburaya celebrated both, they noticably put more emphasis on the latter with ''Series/UltramanTriggerNewGenerationTiga'', a SoftReboot and modernized remake of ''Tiga''.

** The franchise celebrated 30 years with ''Series/StarTrekDeepSpaceNine'' and ''Series/StarTrekVoyager'' doing special episodes that referred back to the original crew. ''Deep Space Nine'' did a revised look at the events of the ''Series/StarTrekTheOriginalSeries'' episode "[[Recap/StarTrekS2E15TheTroubleWithTribbles The Trouble With Tribbles]]" via TimeTravel, and ''Voyager'' also did a TheGreatestStoryNeverTold with what Captain Sulu did during the majority of the events of ''Film/StarTrekVITheUndiscoveredCountry''. The reason why ''Voyager'' had one featuring Sulu was that "The Trouble With Tribbles" was one of several Season 2 episodes [[AbsenteeActor to not feature Sulu]] (thanks to Creator/GeorgeTakei filming ''Film/TheGreenBerets'') and it just seemed strange to not include the character somehow in the 30th anniversary...
