He's eventually bought by [[{{Seme}} Kanou]], a towering, ruthless loanshark who is doing so to repay Ayase for a past kindness...which Ayase unfortunately has no memory of. Although Kanou is clearly in love, he [[CannotSpitItOut has issues expressing his feelings]]; worse, neither is [[HaveIMentionedIAmHeterosexualToday willing to admit an attraction to men]], and Kanou further insists that Ayase is the [[SingleTargetSexuality only]] [[IfItsYouItsOkay man]] he's attracted to. In an attempt to keep Ayase around, Kanou claims that the amount he paid for Ayase amounts to a debt he's willing to null if Ayase remembers how they met. Until then, [[WorkOffTheDebt Ayase can repay Kanou by having sex with him]]: he gets 500,000 yen every time they do the deed to pay off the 120 million yen debt.[[hottip:*: The amount of times needed for 120 million is 240 at the very least as the debt goes up by 10% every ten days, if you're wondering.]]

The traditional {{Seme}} and {{Uke}} dynamic featured is subverted by the fact that Kanou is head over heels for Ayase, while Ayase is unsure of how he feels for Kanou and averse to being forced into a homosexual relationship, occasionally giving him the upper hand. The relationshp drama is also helped along by a colourful cast of secondary characters, including Toranosuke Gion, an [[PluckyComicRelief upbeat and clever]] MrFixit who often helps Kanou in his schemes, Kaoruko Someya, a [[WholesomeCrossdresser well-meaning but abrasive transvestite]] who acts as the couple's councillor, and the Kuba twins, Kanou's [[{{Sidekick}} sidekicks]] and [[BattleButler battle butlers]].

It should be noted that this series is very graphic in its depictions of sex and violence. Both are played for laughs as well as angst, particularly [[RapeAsComedy the]] [[RapeAsDrama sex]].

It gets to the point where you're not quite sure if the manga is going to swap genres and become a fantasy where we find out that Ayase is in fact some inhuman entity who secretes pheromones that make everyone want him. The cover art with him [[WhatDoYouMeanItsNotSymbolic exhibiting white angel wings seems to be screaming something along those lines]].
** This was [[LampshadeHanging lampshaded]] in an omake at the end of Chapter 39, where the auto mechanic thinks about how both President Kanou and [[spoiler: his employee Kuba]] seem to be in love with Ayase but claim they're not gay. He then looks at his employees who are all drooling over Ayase, and concludes that Ayase-fever must be contagious.

The "Cooking with the guys" omake hints that he's definitely not above outright murdering people. He has an endless thirst for money and is extremely possessive and jealous of Ayase. Both his attitude and huge physique (6'5'') are intimidating.

* RomanticFalseLead: [[spoiler: As of some later volume, Homare has become this to Ayase. Especially because of how he intends to treat him if he ever gets Ayase to love him back, since he highly disagrees of Kanou's possessiveness and his way of bullying his lover]].

His Ayase obsession knows no limits: Not only does he have a room filled with pictures of him taken without his permission, he actually collects items that Ayase has discarded, such as water bottles. He's been doing this since high school, having deliberately flunked a year so that he could enter University at the same time as Ayase. Then he comes up with an elaborate scheme to force Ayase into a relationship that includes bugging his room and eventually tying him up and threatening him with a knife in what is basically AttemptedRape.
** That said, most of Ayase's university friends would apply to this in some degree. Ayase is just [[HorribleJudgeOfCharacter ridiculously]] [[TooDumbToLive oblivious]].

* WhatTheHellHero: There is a bit of this about Kanou's treatment of Ayase. Gion calls him out on it, but despite Homare and others not bothering to hide their disapproval, no one else has the guts to actually say it. Mostly because [[HairTriggerTemper Kanou]] is [[BerserkButton a little touchy on the subject of Ayase]].
