* ACupAngst: Megumi and Masako often feel intimidated by Komori's BoobsOfSteel. It's far more common in the anime than the manga.

* MsFanservice: BoobsOfSteel? Check. Breasts bouncing in the anime? Check. Characters reflecting on her figure, to the point that her character design stands out next to her two more ordinary friends? * BirdsOfAFeather: Part of the reason Ootani understands Shuri in a way Megumi and Masako can't. He wants to be relied on, but because of his short height he's looked down on (literally) and so understands Shuri's desire to help people and frustration when she can't.
** This starts as far back as Chapter 16, when Shuri and Ootani first meet. Ootani admits that he wants to be relied on because he wants to be a reliable man, and compares his own selfishness with how Shuri genuinely seems to just enjoy helping people. Shuri in turn tells him that part of the reason she enjoys it so much is being able to spend time with other people... [[ShipTease the way she and Ootani are right now.]]

* CrashIntoHello: How Shuri first meets Ootani in Chapter 16. She was carrying a box and ran right into him, since thanks to his height he was completely hidden from view.
** It happens again at the end of the chapter. As soon as it happens, Shuri instinctively knows she walked into him again.

* FlowerMotifs: Comes up in Chapter 17 when Shuri plans to buy a carnation for Mother's Day. It's also the chapter when she learns where Ootani lives (as she happened to come upon his family's florist shop during her search). He tries to trick her into buying a yellow carnation, but is foiled because earlier in the chapter Megumi told her a yellow carnation symbolises contempt. Ootani notes that the shop still has a lot of yellow carnations.

* GagBoobs: Chapter 65 revolves around Shuri having to get new clothes because her breasts have grown again, to the point that attempting to zip up a jacket results in the zipper shooting off.

* ProductionForeshadowing: The main cast of ''[[Manga/OoyasanWaShishunki Ooyasan wa Shishunki!]]'' appear in the crowd when the fireworks are going off in episode 8. Their anime started [[Winter2016Anime the following season]], which [[ProductionThrowback returns the favor]] in its seventh episode, when Shuri and co. appear in the crowd of students having soup.

''Komori-san Can't Decline!'' (小森さんは断れない!, ''Komori-san wa Kotowarenai!'') is a {{yonkoma}} manga created by Creator/CoolKyouShinsha, which began serialization in ''Manga Time Original'' in 2012. It received an anime adaptation as part of the Fall2015Anime lineup.

* {{Fanservice}}: They made Shuri bustier and more [[{{Gainaxing}} jiggly]], with more scenes focusing on her boobs for the anime.

* {{Gainaxing}}: Much more notable in the anime.

Realizing she has affection for Ootani and also the rare circumstances where she ''can't'' help someone also bring an almost puppy-eyed, meek young girl to the forefront.
** Ootani is like this at times as well, especially in regards to Shuri.

But aside from that, she's just a normal Japanese middle school girl, who hangs with her two friends, Megumi Nishitori and Masako Negeshi. She gets her homework copied, helps them in studying, and [[SliceOfLife all other normal middle school girl stuff.]]

** Ootani realises that he has feelings for Shuri too, but he also gets way more embarrassed and self-conscious about it.

* HereWeGoAgain: Shuri, Megumi and Masako's reaction when, on the first day of high school, Shuri winds up helping people.

* RescueRomance: Played with. While their class is cleaning the pool, Shuri slips and Ootani catches her. She realises how close his face is and gains a LuminiscentBlush.

* EyesAlwaysShut: Shuri's mother. Combined with her messy hair, it gives her a constantly exhausted look.

** This is actually what triggers Ootani and Shuri becoming a couple, as numerous people mistake them as dating but Ootani constantly denies it and unknowingly annoying Shuri. They finally get into a huge argument that ends with them getting all their issues out and Ootani properly asking Shuri to be his girlfriend.

** By the end of Volume 5, they're actually dating.

* IHaveYouKnowMyPretty: Understated and played for laughs in one of the gags at the end of one of the volumes. Ootani shows off his bicep, and Shuri shows off hers. Ootani is so impressed he exclaims that she'd be able to do whatever she wanted and no one could stop her. Cue Shuri pointedly staring at Ootani and smiling creepily, while Ootani immediately has an OhCrap reaction.

* AdaptedOut: Komori's younger sister, Masako's older sister, and Yamanaka never appear in the anime. [[Manga/ICantUnderstandWhatMyHusbandIsSaying Miki's]] cameo was also replaced with Komori wearing his outfit. Justified in Yamanaka's case since the series only adapted scenes from before he was introduced.

* PottyEmergency: Komori lets a few girls with this go in front of her to the one remaining stall... and Komori is afflicted with this afterward.

* RelatedInTheAdaptation: Inverted. Negeshi-sensei isn't Masako's older brother in the anime (he had Komori deliver handouts to her when she was out sick in the anime, while he gave them to her himself in the manga).

* BoobsOfSteel: Shuri is much bustier than the other students, and she's also the strongest. Like, ''[[SuperStrength really]]'' strong.
* TheCallKnowsWhereYouLive: Shuri can't seem to take more than five steps out her own door without someone asking for her help. This is sometimes literal.

* DeadpanSnarker: Shuri at times, though only around her closest friends.
* DesperatelyLookingForAPurposeInLife: When exams come up and Shuri isn't being asked to help people with them, no one knows what to think about her strange behavior until Ootani clears up that she's bored and feeling empty. He's right on the mark, being that he wants to be relied on but no one does so and thus knows exactly what's going through her head.

* GoodFeelsGood: When asked about why she helps people so much, Shuri sometimes admits that she likes being relied on and just enjoys helping.

* HugeSchoolgirl: Shuri is notably taller than the other students. Officially she's 1.8m (6') tall, impossibly tall by East Asian standards--and remember, she's ''14''.

* NiceGirl: Shuri is a kind girl to the most ridiculous extreme.
* ObliviousToLove: Played with in regards to Ootani. He's aware of Shuri's feelings for him and he realises that he likes her too; in fact it's all but stated the reason he offered her a part time job at his family's florist's shop is so they could keep meeting each other (since they go to different high schools now). On the other hand, he often doesn't notice things like Shuri modifying her school uniform to attract him or catch on that the reason she takes up so many shifts at the shop is to spend as much time as she can with him.
** In Chapter 62, Shuri, her little sister and Ootani's own mother seem pretty annoyed that he doesn't seem to grasp that the reason Shuri takes so many shifts at the shop (to the point Shuri's mother wants her to scale back and focus on her schoolwork) is because she wants to spend as much time as she can with him.
* PeekABangs: Megumi used to have BlindingBangs, but she started pulling her hair back at Komori's suggestion. She keeps one side covered [[RuleOfCool because it looks cool]].

* SheIsNotMyGirlfriend: Ootani being described as Shuri's boyfriend results in her replying he isn't her boyfriend.

* SingleTargetSexuality: Masako towards Shuri, albeit downplayed in that she keeps it on the down-low. By chapter 44, the subtlety gets thrown out the window when her love preference is asked, though [[ObliviousToLove Komori imagines a large, muscular man rather than herself from the description.]] Also notable in that she still [[IWantMyBelovedToBeHappy supports Shuri and Ootani.]]
* StepfordSmiler: There are occasionally hints Shuri is like this in regards to always being asked to help, as she monologues that one of the reasons she loves to run is that no one can ask for her help while she's running. Make no mistake, she genuinely likes helping people, but that also means that she sometimes has little time for herself.

* TeamMom: When Megumi and Masako (''especially'' [[{{Otaku}} Megumi]]) happen to step a little too out of bounds, Shuri's typically there to set them back on the straight path. Others consider this about her as well, though it can be stressful at times for the poor girl.

* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes: Shuri is afraid of bugs.

* AllMenArePerverts: Once he comes to terms with his feelings, Ootani is prone to thinking of the most erotic interpretation of what Shuri says. In his defense, Shuri is prone to saying things which can really be taken the wrong way, such as her first day at her part time job at his place. She tells him that she won't refuse "anything he asks of her" and to be "as rough as he wants." He genuinely isn't sure whether Shuri is being deliberate about it.

Taken UpToEleven in one scene where Shuri can't remember the solution to a particular problem.
