* A sibling version in ''WesternAnimation/TheIncredibles''. Violet is much taller than her brother Dash, though it is justified since Violet is four years older than Dash.

* Donkey and Dragon from ''WesternAnimation/{{Shrek}}''. Also Farquaad and Fiona, for the brief time that they're together.

* The ghost of Frumah-Sarah in ''Theater/FiddlerOnTheRoof'' is commonly depicted as towering over Tevye (usually by means of a TotemPoleTrench). Since the musical number in which she appears is a story made up by Tevye, it's unclear if this was ever actually the case when she was alive.

* [[VideoGame/RatchetAndClank Ratchet]] is shorter than each of his [[GirlOfTheWeek Girls of the Week]] by variable amounts: maybe an inch or two shorter than Sasha, [[OneHeadTaller One Head Shorter]] than Talwyn, and ''at least'' a foot shorter than Angela. This has less to do with InterspeciesRomance than it does with Ratchet being just plain short. (Angela is the same species as Ratchet, though it's unknown whether this means that Ratchet is short for his kind or that female Lombaxes are naturally bigger than males, given that Angela is the only one that's actually been seen in the series.) Additionally, Dr. Nefarious [[UnholyMatrimony gets into a fling with the utterly massive Cassiopeia.]]

* ''WesternAnimation/{{Rugrats}}'': Howard and Betty Deville (Parents of Phil and Lil) fit this trope in both physicality and [[MasculineGirlFeminineBoy personality]], with Betty easily being the louder and larger in assertiveness than her tiny, timid husband.

* ''Webcomic/LevelOneHousewife:'' Angrboda is a hulking amazon swordswoman who has married a fruit merchant half her size and retired to domestic life. Her husband is only a little shorter than average, but she's a giant, and has trouble not injuring him when she shows him affection. (Fortunately, her great strength is a turn-on for him.)

* ''Manga/TheDangersInMyHeart'': Kyōtarō Ichikawa is only a little short compared to kids his age, while Anna Yamada is [[StatuesStunner incredibly tall]] [[OneHeadTaller compared to everyone else in their age group]] to the point where she stands shoulders with a few adults.

* Fujiyama Maki, the middle school-aged main character in ''Fujiyama-san wa Shishunki,'' is way taller than her boyfriend Kanba-kun. She's also well-built, chunky enough that a couple of times he's successfully hidden behind her to keep their relationship a secret from classmates.

* ''Webcomic/TowerOfGod'': Yuri Jahad, who is two heads taller than her dwarfish guide Evan Edroch.
* In ''Anime/MobileSuitGundam0083StardustMemory'', the AmazonianBeauty WrenchWench Moira Bascht and the ButtMonkey pilot Chuck Keith end up becoming the BetaCouple (or at least are implied to do so). Moira stands head and shoulders over Keith and is obviously more muscular then he is.
* ''Anime/DragonBallZ'': Krillin is noticeably shorter than his wife #18 and practically every other character of the series (Gohan was the same height as him when he was ''four years old''). Although this just might be inconsistent height, considering he's 152 cm and was as tall as Gohan when he was 9 or 10 years old.
* ''Anime/GunXSword'': A mild antagonist version; Fasalina is clearly a head and few inches taller than Michael.

* Chieri from ''Chieri's Love is 8 Meters'' is [[GiantWoman 8 meters taller]] than her {{Childhood Friend|s}} and ImpliedLoveInterest Yumeji.

* Inoue Kazurou's short story ''Aoi Destruction'', where the titular character is a [[OlderThanTheyLook 38-year-old]] pint-[[FunSize sized]] [[DudeLooksLikeALady Hot "Loli" Dad]] and his late wife was a [[TheBigGuy overwhelmingly hulking]] [[MightyGlacier pile of muscle]].
* ''Manga/MagicKnightRayearth'': Tiny SpiritAdvisor Clef (who's ReallySevenHundredYearsOld) and either Umi Ryuzaki or Presea [[spoiler: (add Presea's BackupTwin Sierra, if you follow the anime)]], whether their affections for him are romantic or not (at least [[AllLoveIsUnrequited onesided]] from Presea [[spoiler: and Sierra]], Umi's case is a bit more debatable).
* ''Take On Me'' centers on Tsushida Tomonori (scrawny and about 5'1" (156 cm)) and Hikaru Oono ([[HugeSchoolgirl just shy of 6'0" (182 cm) and capable of walking off with Tsuda tucked under her arm]]). Since it is ''that'' [[{{Hentai}} sort]] [[PornWithPlot of]] {{Manga}} there are a few amusingly awkward scenes that cannot be described here.
* The [[OfficialCouple main couple]] of HugeSchoolgirl, Ayako, and Mamoru, in ''Literature/VenusToMamoru'' is this trope. He comes a bit short of her shoulders.
* From ''Literature/{{Katanagatari}}'', we have Chouchou, who is roughly the size of a child, and Oshidori, who is the tallest female character.
* In ''Manga/SoulEater'', Tsubaki is noticeably taller than her meister Black Star, and Liz is taller than Death the Kid. The girls are also quite a bit older. Between the beginning and end of the manga, Kid seems to grow by a ridiculous degree, going from two heads shorter than Liz to her equal in height. How much is supposed to be an actual change in height (there appears to be an unspecified Time Skip after the Baba Yaga arc) rather than ArtEvolution is hard to say.
* Pietro's parents in ''Popolocrois''. Doubles as InterspeciesRomance, since his mom is a dragon.
* [[NobleDemon Hiei]] from ''Manga/YuYuHakusho'' is significantly smaller than his prospective {{Love Interest|s}} [[DarkActionGirl Mukuro]], with whom the BelligerentSexualTension is very present.
* Makken and Leyte in ''Anime/TengenToppaGurrenLagann''.
* Koichi and Yukako from ''Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventure''. Technically and officially Yukako is only four inches taller than Koichi, but because the art-style consistently draws Koichi short it often looks like she towers over him.

* The protagonists of ''Manga/HoukagoPlay'''s first volume.
* In ''Manga/{{Ratman}}'', [[ObliviousToLove Shuto Katsuragi]] and both of his... well, kind-of-{{Love Interest|s}}, Mirea Mizushima and Rio Kizaki.
* In the ''Anime/MazingerZ'' SpinOff ''Manga/NewMazinger'', Major Kabuto (human-sized) and Princess Krishna (Mazinger-sized... around eighteen-meters tall). He understandably complains she is the most beautiful woman he has found, but they are the wrong size.
* While at this point more of a platonic couple, Yuriko and Dai'chi in ''Manga/KotouraSan'' are also an example.
* ''Manga/MonsterMusume'': Kimihito is of fairly average height, but he's a short guy next to Centora, Rachnera and Tionishia.
* In ''Manga/MonthlyGirlsNozakiKun'', there's [[{{Bifauxnen}} Kashima]] (176cm) and Hori (164cm). The former will tease the latter about being too short to play lead roles in the drama club but she's still his {{Fangirl}}.

* Makoto's ThirdOptionLoveInterest Maekawa from ''Literature/GroundControlToPsychoelectricGirl'' is a HugeSchoolgirl who towers several centimeters over him.

* ''Manga/VermeilInGold'' has Alto, the protagonist, who while not particularly short, gets paired up with Vermeil, a StatuesqueStunner HotAsHell demoness with huge boobs. One chapter hints that Alto has a bit of HeightAngst, and when Vermeil teases him with the suggestion they check the size difference, he reacts badly.

* Cibo and Killy of the manga series ''Manga/{{Blame}}'', with Cibo being a good deal taller than Killy. [[spoiler:At least, at first.]]

* The parrot in ''Anime/TimeBokan'' has a large domineering wife.
* ''Anime/SailorMoon'':
** Not that Rei is that huge (she is 5'3 (160 cm), around average height for a 14-year-old Japanese girl), but she's about '''one foot''' taller than her [[MiniatureSeniorCitizens small grandfather]].

There's also Kotou Akemi and [[GenderBlenderName Isaac Montana]], who both tried to win him over Mana.

* In ''Manga/ShamanKing'', Oyamada Manta's father is about his height (in the neighborhood of 80 centimeters tall); his mother, on the other hand, is of normal height (and [[UglyGuyHotWife noticeably better-looking]]).
* ''Anime/GunXSword'': A mild antagonist version; Fasalina is clearly a head and few inches taller than Michael.
* ''Manga/{{Bleach}}'': Division 10's Vice Captain Rangiku Matsumoto (172 cm, or 5'7 3/4") and Captain Toushirou Hitsugaya (133 cm, or 4'4"), the woman being massive in at least one area... [[BuxomBeautyStandard More like two areas, though]].
* ''Manga/{{Claymore}}'': Riful and Dauf (Awakened form), and Clare and Raki (pre-timeskip). Ironically both cases are [[HugeGuyTinyGirl reversed]] when they're not Awakened (Riful's human form is a tiny little girl next to Dauf's hulking figure) and post-timeskip (Raki becomes outright ''huge'' when he grows up, while Clare doesn't visibly change) respectively.

* ''VideoGame/ZoneOfTheEnders: Dolores, i'', in a non-romantic ([[PrecociousCrush sorta]]), platonic way: The old veteran pilot stuck together with a [[RidiculouslyHumanRobots sentient]] [[HumongousMecha mecha]] with a [[GenkiGirl little girl's personality]].

* ''Manga/{{Trigun}}'':
** Millie and either Vash or Meryl are a platonic example.
*** Vash and Wolfwood are both rather average-sized. But Wolfwood with Millie becomes this trope, while Vash becomes the [[HugeGuyTinyGirl Huge Guy with Meryl]].
** Pa Nebraska is a tiny, ugly, ancient-looking man. His wife, Ma Nebraska, basically looks like Gofsef (the giant deformed cyborg who is so huge that Pa rides around in his pocket) with breasts and hair. Except she may be even bigger than her giant son, at least a head taller.
* ''Anime/{{Macross}}'':
** ''Anime/MacrossFrontier'': Michel Blanc and Klan Klang (often a full-sized Zentraedi). That is, if Klan isn't Micloned. If she does, the trope is HugeGuyTinyGirl instead, as she looks [[OlderThanTheyLook much smaller and younger]] than her real age.
** Max Jenius and Millia Fallyna from [[Anime/SuperDimensionFortressMacross the first series]], although they only encountered each other in Millia's original size [[DefectingForLove once]]... [[RuleThirtyFour that we know of]].

* Kaoru of ''Manga/NanaAndKaoru'' is really short and skinny, while Nana is a statuesque brunette who's two/three inches taller. One chapter shows he has to stand on tiptoe to whisper into her ear.

* In ''Manga/YuGiOh'', we have Anzu, who has a somewhat average height for a girl but contrast it with Yugi, who is pretty much a midget. In the BeachEpisode, Jonouchi realizes how odd a ship of them would be. She's also taller than Dark Yugi/Atem. Mai is even taller than both of them.
* She's only seen briefly in a flashback, but Napoleon's ex-wife from ''Anime/YuGiOhGX'' clearly towered over him.

* Mizuki and Akira from ''Manga/AiOreLoveMe''.
* Haruyuki Arita and Kuroyukihime from ''Literature/AccelWorld''. He barely reaches to her waist (at least in the anime).
* Yui and Kei from ''Manga/TheBeautifulSkiesOfHououHigh''.

* ''Franchise/FullmetalAlchemist'':
** More-or-less every straight Edward Elric pairing (and originally the OfficialCouple of him and [[spoiler:Winry]]) is this. For most of the [[Manga/FullmetalAlchemist manga]] he's 149 cm - 157 cm, though he outgrows it.
** Noah in ''Anime/FullmetalAlchemistTheConquerorOfShamballa'' is at maximum an ImpliedLoveInterest, at minimum his only female friend at the moment, and is noticeably taller than Edward. Unlike in the manga, he's at full-grown height so he won't get any taller. Winry (who is taller than her manga version) is also shown to be taller than Ed in the movie.
** Major Alex Louis Armstrong's parents also count. Mrs. Armstrong is as tall as Alex, but with a very graceful figure. Mr. Armstrong is only half as tall as his wife and son, but has a muscular build that HAS BEEN PASSED DOWN THE ARMSTRONG LINE FOR GENERATIONS!
* Luchino from ''Literature/{{Baccano}}'' is a smallish teenage boy. [[CoolBigSis Aging]], on the other hand, stands well over two meters and is described as having a build like Michelangelo's David, but with breasts and 50% more muscle. Luchino barely reaches up to her chest.
* ''Manga/SteelAngelKurumi'' and the 12-year-old protagonist Nakahito.

* Downplayed in ''Manga/AhMyGoddess'', where it's only an issue because Keichii is insecure about his height, whereas Belldandy doesn't care and is only slightly taller than he is anyway.

* Natsuru from ''Manga/TheGodsLie'' is at a normal height for an eleven-year-old boy, but the girl he falls for, Suzumura, is [[HugeSchoolgirl tall for her age]]. At one point she expresses the hope that he'll ''eventually'' outgrow her, but we never see if this ever happens.
* A given for ''Manga/TheWorldIsStillBeautiful'''s 12-year-old Livius and the older Nike. She is about a head taller when they first meet.

* The two main characters in ''Manga/HitomiChanIsShyWithStrangers'' are the [[HugeSchoolgirl tall]] Hitomi, and Yuu, who is a year above Hitomi but [[TinySchoolboy short for his age]]. One chapter sees them get wet and muddy in the rain and Hitomi locked out of her house; she has to get her clothes washed at his place, but none of the clothes he lets her borrow fit. At several later points, Yuu is mistaken for Hitomi's ''son''.
* ''Manga/MonsterMusume'': Kimihito is of fairly average height, but he's a short guy next to Centora, Rachnera and Tionishia.
* The manga RomCom series ''Kabocha Wine'' (and its AnimatedAdaptation ''The Kabocha Wine'') has this as its central gimmick. Protagonist Shunsuke is a PintSizedPowerhouse and self-styled HeManWomanHater who has a soft spot for sweet-natured HugeSchoolgirl Natsumi, who due to standing head and shoulders over many of her normal-sized male classmates, let alone Shunsuke, is more commonly referred to by the nickname "L"[[note]]For '''L'''arge size[[/note]].

* ''Manga/QueenMillennia'': While Hajime and his uncle are notably short, Yayoi tower over any shown man.

* Chieri from ''Chieri's Love is 8 Meters'' is [[GiantWoman 8 meters taller]] than her ChildhoodFriend and ImpliedLoveInterest Yumeji.

** [[ComicBook/NewGods Scott Free]] and Big Barda. [[http://katiecandraw.deviantart.com/art/big-barda-and-mr-miracle-95109646 Awww, so cute.]] (DependingOnTheWriter, Scott is sometimes just as tall, but even then Barda [[AmazonianBeauty is a very muscular]] [[BigBeautifulWoman and fairly full-figured woman]] while Scott is a very slender and flexible contortionist and escapologist.)

** Characters/{{Wonder Woman|TheCharacter}} is usually considerably taller than ComicBook/SteveTrevor, however just how much of a difference they have in height is fairly inconsistent in continuities outside of ''ComicBook/TheLegendOfWonderWoman2016''.

* In ''Film/GrumpyOldMen'' and ''Film/GrumpierOldMen'' 5'5" Kevin Pollack is paired with 5'10" Darryl Hannah.

* Chummy (played by Miranda Hart, see below) and Peter on ''Series/CallTheMidwife''. Chummy is just over 6'1" tall and Peter, her police sergeant husband, is approximately 5'8" tall. This would make him at the tall end of average from the time period (1950s), but compared to his wife he looks tiny; especially on the rare occasions she wears heels.

* ''WesternAnimation/CloneHigh'': The short, wiry Gandhi eventually ends up with [[spoiler:Marie Curie, who's the largest girl in school due to radiation damage to her clone mother's DNA.]]

* Leo and Panthera in ''WesternAnimation/Thundercats2011''. Even by the standards of their species Panthera is a StatuesqueStunner, and towers over her love interest Leo, who (being almost identical to his descendant and main character Lion-O) is relatively short for an adult Cat.

* A non-couple example happened when Webvideo/TheCinemaSnob and Webvideo/DiamandaHagan did a crossover review of ''Film/MyraBreckinridge'', with the intro having her calling him 'shorty', and the response "I'm not short, you're just Creator/RichardKiel!" Once the review itself started, Brad is [[ScullyBox sitting on a pile of pillows]], which Diamanda is gleefully laughing about.

* ''Film/{{Avatar}}'': It's only actually seen once, but Jake is considerably shorter than his 2 meter eventual spouse Neytiri, though in all but one scene, he interacts with her through his equally tall Avatar which he eventually permanently uploads into.

* In ''Film/HoneyIShrunkTheKids'' and ''Film/HoneyIBlewUpTheKid'' 5'4" Creator/RickMoranis and 5'8" Marcia Strassman are playing husband and wife. [[spoiler: It gets even more obvious in the climax of "Blew Up the Kid", when Diane gets turned into a 250-foot tall giant.]]
