* ''Manga/SoulEater'': There is a complicated example. Maka's Resonance Link team consists of herself (TheLeader), Black Star (TheBigGuy), and Death the Kid (TheSmartGuy). However, there are also their weapons, that all have their own roles. Soul is Maka's scythe, and is TheLancer. Tsubaki is Black Star's sword, and is TheHeart. Liz and Patty are Kid's guns, and are TheChick and the CuteAndPsycho one, respectively.

** Laura Kinney/Weapon Hex: TheChick.

** TheChick: Natasha Romanoff, a.k.a. Black Widow, is a top-notch spy, martial artist, and former assassin. Outside of combat, her role is primarily to ferret information from the enemy DecoyDamsel style. Because of her dark and bloody past she can come off as something of an IceQueen, but is show to care deeply for her teammates and considers them a [[FoundFamily found family]]. She helps to manage the often volatile Hulk with friendship and compassion.

*** TheChick: Filled by Gamora and Mantis, who are largely {{Foil}}s of each other. Gamora is plenty capable in combat, but she was also the first to advocate working together to stop the BigBad of the first film, Ronan. She provides emotional support to Peter and acts like a CoolBigSis for Baby Groot. Mantis is a literal {{Empath}} and more of a stereotypical {{Girly Girl}}, whose main role is to function as emotional balance for the team. While not as combat-happy as the others, she gets very creative when using her powers in a fight[[spoiler:; while the attempt fails, she is arguably the lynchpin when the good guys try to remove the Infinity Gauntlet from Thanos' hand.]]

** TheChick: Marion Locksley. The widow of the dying soldier Robin met in the beginning. A no-nonsense woman who has largely taken over the running of the estate in her husband's absence and her father-in-law's blindness. Never shy about speaking her mind and can wield weapons as well as any of the men.

** TheChick: Lt. Nyota Uhura, the CunningLinguist with the most emotional intelligence of the crew. Also a LoveInterest for Spock.

** TheChick: Etta Candy. Steve Trevor's perky yet iron-willed secretary. A Suffragette who's not afraid to get verbally snarky or physically confrontational, she takes an instant liking to Diana and helps the Amazon navigate her new surroundings. Serves as the home base helmswoman for their mission.

** TheChick: Agent Moira [=MacTaggert=] is the TokenHuman (a.k.a. non-mutant) and liaison between the mutants and the American Federal Government. Also Xavier's love interest.

** TheChick: Ginny Weasley. Although her future romance with Harry had not quite budded at this stage, Ginny supported his mission to rescue Sirius from the start. She cleverly figured out a way for him to get some details first (which he actually heeded), and her powerful spellcasting was nothing to sneeze at.

** TheChick: Erlina is a princess who has shown more than enough [[RoyalsWhoActuallyDoSomething battle skill]] in the form of magic. She also provides [[TheHeart emotional support]] to Lucinda and attempts to teach her magic.

** {{Intrepid Reporter}}s Ippei and Jun aren't members of the team, but serve as TheSmartGuy and TheChick respectively with how they usually help the Akumaizer 3.

*** TheChick: Mio Tendo, a [[TheOjou polite, refined young woman]] who holds the Justi Crystal and wants to aid the Justirisers in any way she can.

*** TheChick: Remy Freede, Takuto's co-pilot and the most mindful Sazer-X member.

** TheChick: Jennifer Jereau, a.k.a. “JJ”. TeamMom and literal mom, balancing family life and a chaotic work schedule better than any other character. Functions as media liaison for the team.

*** TheChick: Koyomi, a MacguffinGirl and Haruto's closest friend who aids him with her premonitions.

*** TheChick: Poppy Pipopapo / Kamen Rider Poppy, who flips between being a compassionate, down-to-Earth nurse and a video game GenkiGirl depending on what persona she's in.

*** TheChick: Misora Isurugi, a net idol who, while aloof at times, is for the most part the one who provides the rest of the team with emotional counsel.

*** TheChick: Mei Sudo, who's not a Rider but a close friend of Touma's and the cheerful moral center of the team.

** TheChick: Sophie Devereaux is the [[ConMan Con Artist]]. She's usually at the front, working the mark.

** TheChick:
*** Caitlin Todd. Former Secret Service agent with a particularly sharp tongue. She often rolls her eyes at the unconventional and/or potentially illegal actions of her mostly male colleagues.
*** Kasie Hines. Abby's successor as forensic scientist. Generally perky and upbeat with a distinct creative side, she has a number of emotional vulnerabilities stemming from her past.

*** TheChick: Sasha, a classy, strict but still caring Blue Moon CO.

*** TheChick: Isabella, a kind-hearted MysteriousWaif whom the 12th Battalion takes under their protection.

* ''VideoGame/WildArms3'': There's four of them and they travel together across the wasteland. TheChick is also TheLeader, TheLancer is the ''actual'' [[TheHeart emotional center]], that TheBigGuy is the best mage in the party with the worst melee attacks, and TheSmartGuy is a MightyGlacier with a sniper rifle. It gets to where one suspects the party's design is an intentional instance of [[PlayingWithATrope playing with the usual personality-to-party-role stereotypes]] in your average RPG.

** The Blood Elves, ironically, could play TheChick. They could also play TheSmartGuy considering their aptitude for advanced magic.

** TheLancer: [[GenkiGirl Lynne]]. She is the first one who is aware of Sissel's present and is always rushing out to find out the answer to her own problems. [[spoiler: Mainly trying to save her hero Detective Jowd from an upcoming execution.]] Lynne also serves as TheChick of the group and is often seen with Sissel.

** In the group's dynamics, Zelda is TheSmartGuy who is more focused on researching the Magitech, as well as cooking and chemistry, despite being the "commander" of the Champions. Link is her bodyguard and TheBigGuy / TheSixthRanger, having the most powerful weapon and being the last member to join. Revali is the rude {{Lancer}} and LongRangeFighter with his bow. Daruk is the headstrong but friendly unofficial {{Leader}} of the Champions, with elements of TheBigGuy. Urbosa is the CoolBigSis and LadyOfBlackMagic. Mipha is TheChick and resident healer of the team.

*** Sarah is Elliot's former girlfriend, TheTeamNormal who acts as TheChick for the group.

** TheChick: Karla/Pink Starlight squarely fits this role. She is a GirlyGirl, and a ValleyGirl. The first thing she does when getting cosmic powers is to design proper [[MiniDressOfPower superheroine costumes]].

** TheLancer: Joey Wheeler. Yugi’s best friend and {{foil}}, both in appearance and personality: Significantly taller and stronger, plus more outgoing with an irreverent sense of humor. Also tends to rely more strength and direct attacks while dueling than Yugi’s strategy-based approach, at least at first.
** TheSmartGuy: Bakura Ryou. A classmate and the most quiet/unassuming. Like Yugi, he possesses a Millenium item, but the ancient spirit inside his treasure is far from benevolent. As such, he tends to approach situations more logically and delicately than anyone else, for fear that the spirit could take over.
** TheBigGuy: Tristan Taylor. The only non-duelist in the initial group (though he does have a small collection of cards). An old friend of Joey’s, he takes the latter’s aggressive, impulsive tendencies and cranks them up. As the biggest and strongest member, he can handle physical challenges no one else can.
** TheHeart: Tea Gardner. A beginning duelist with a cheerful, sometimes naive personality, but whose tongue can be sharper than a razor when she’s angry. Functions as the moral and emotional center of the group, forever encouraging her friends and keeping them grounded when things get stressful and/or crazy.
** TheSixthRanger: Mai Valentine. Introduced as a materialistic FemmeFatale type, but who experiences significant character growth over the course of the season. A highly skilled duelist in her own right, she becomes an unofficial member of the group and maintains a friendly rivalry with them as the series progresses.

** TheBigGuy[=/=]TheSmartGuy: Crow, the Second Wheeler of the the team. TheTrickster who relies on several combos to balance his lack of having a Signer Dragon with a SuperMode like Yusei and Jack.
** SupportPartyMember: Aki, the Benchwarmer. If one of the guys above cannot duel for whatever reason, she would duel in their place.

** TheLancer: Mr. Spock and Dr. Leonard [=McCoy=] are both are Kirk's close friends; Spock is logical and calculating and [=McCoy=] serious and cynical, while Kirk is more laid-back and risk-taking.

*** Pavel Chekhov is the crew's [[TheNavigator navigator]] and a TeenGenius, who creates the plan to disguise the ''Enterprise'' to ambush the ''Narada''.

*** TheChick: Mikuru is still TheChick. Itsuki theorizes she was chosen for her mission specifically to appeal to Kyon's protectiveness, which would also make the standard TheLeader[=/=]TheChick romance an InvokedTrope.

** TheChick and TeamMom: Nasté/Mia, who lacks any powers of her own but is a few years older than the boys and provides support, housing, and transportation.

** TheChick: Minako Aino / Sailor Venus, ditzy but kind-hearted and very capable. Technically she's the NumberTwo to Usagi, but in terms of team dynamics she acts as the team's heart.

** TheChick / TheHeart: Tea Gardner. A beginning duelist with a cheerful, sometimes naive personality, but whose tongue can be sharper than a razor when she’s angry. Functions as the moral and emotional center of the group, forever encouraging her friends and keeping them grounded when things get stressful and/or crazy.

** TheChick: Disgust is the most stereotypically feminine member.

** TheChick: Ariadne is the Architect, and was recruited to construct the dreamworld that The Team would use. A newcomer to the extraction business, and an emotional sounding board for Dom's personal problems.

** TheChick: Princess Leia, who serves as the group's heart and social influence. [[ActionGirl She can also help with a blaster]].

** TheChick: Constance. The royal insider/love interest. Not one to be taken in by pretty words, she gives as good as she gets and convinces the men to see the bigger picture.

** TheChick / TheHeart: Angela Montenegro. Snarky artist and computer genius who specializes in facial reconstruction and virtual scenario recreation. Has the highest EQ and often walks the scientists of the team (especially her best friend Brennan) through "normal" social situations.

** TheChick: Ji-yeong, a strange but compassionate girl who helps Sae-byeok to open up.

** TheChick: Penelo helps hold the team together as TheHeart. The only reason she comes along at all is to support Vaan.

*** TheHeart / TheChick role is shared by Sparadrap and Couette, who are also both (sort of) TheMedic. [[spoiler:This is the only position that remains unchanged in Season 5.]]

** TheHeart / TheChick: Katara is Aang's [[TheMentor waterbending teacher]], whose methods and general personality emphasize friendship, group solidarity, and kindness. That being said, she definitely has a temper and rarely has qualms about holding her tongue.

* ''WesternAnimation/ReadyJetGo'': The main characters together form Team Propulsion, who go on adventures on Earth and in space and stick together through thick and thin. It consists of Jet, who is naturally TheLeader. Sean is TheLancer whose nervous personality complements Jet's outgoing personality. Sydney is TheChick, whose moral compass helps keep the team together. Mindy [[TheBabyOfTheBunch may be]] [[TagalongKid younger]], but is treated as an equal. Sunspot is the TeamPet who serves as the gang's loyal pet and mascot. Celery and Carrot are Jet's ever-supportive parents who serve as the kids' {{mentors}}, with the assistance of TokenRobot Face 9000.

** TheChick:
*** Starfire's primary roles outside of combat are as Robin's love interest, a cheerful GirlyGirl {{Foil}} to Raven's seriousness, and a caring [[TheHeart Heart]] that helps maintain emotional stability. Everyone on the team largely gets along with Starfire and help her to understand human culture. She also adopts the TeamPet Silkie, a mutant silkworm.

** TheSmartGuy: Pidge, just like in the original, has a lot of intelligence. [[spoiler: Pidge is also a chick, but not TheChick.]]

*** Gaetan Molière. Geology and excavation specialist, ComicRelief, and very awkward to have as a roommate. Definitely a PunnyName, as his short stocky frame, high-tech glasses, and obsession with dirt makes him strongly resemble a mole. Thinks he's a [[TheCasanova ladies's man]], which does not end well.

** CoolOldLady: Wilhelmina Packard, the crew's radio operator. A chain smoker, DeadpanSnarker, and unconventional in all kinds of ways: Sleeps in the nude (and sleepwalks); is usually laid back to a degree that she can't be bothered with anything (even actual battles and disasters); and has no qualms about saying what's on her mind.

* ''WesternAnimation/ChickenRun'': The primary chickens of Tweedy's Farm, who’s overarching goal is to get themselves and all their fellow fowl out of their oppressive environment and to freedom.

** TheHeart: Sadness is the least active of the emotions, but is the most empathetic

*** Anthony Dinozzo. Veteran law enforcement officer and Class Clown. Frequent victim of Gibbs’ patented head-slaps but just as often called upon to step up and carry the team.

*** Kasie Hines. Abby’s successor as forensic scientist. Generally perky and upbeat with a distinct creative side, she has a number of emotional vulnerabilities stemming from her past.

*** Donald “Ducky” Mallard. Medical Examiner with an endless well of stories from his youth as a traveler. His standard M.O. is to talk to his autopsy patients, which tends to reveal key insights.

*** Jimmy Palmer. Dr. Mallard’s eager young protege and later successor. Highly capable in his own right, he always brings a smile to grim days and becomes ever wiser as time passes.

*** Asami Sato is the daughter of an extremely wealthy industrialist and a stunningly pretty GirlyGirl compared to Korra's more {{Tomboy}} aesthetic. Despite her background, Asami is no snob and is openly generous to everyone. The only non-bender in the initial group, she also becomes Korra's most significant relationship, and the two form an official couple by series’ end.

** TheLeader: Lyle Tiberius Rourke. Commander of the expedition and superficially friendly and reasonable- for a military type, anyway. Although fully devoted to the expedition, his motives are ultimately revealed to be quite different than he first let on, and he descends into territory that wouldn’t be out of place in [[Franchise/IndianaJones Indiana Jones]].
** TheLancer: Helga Sinclair. Lieutenant and second-in-command. Normally a no-nonsense type, she plays up the personality of the FemmeFatale or the Blonde Bombshell when it suits her purposes. Although not truly romantic in any sense, she eventually becomes the embodiment of the phrase “Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.”

*** Vincenzo “Vinny” Santorini. Explosives expert, convicted felon, and big in the metaphorical sense (i.e. his speciality is literally blowing things up). Not exactly a DeadpanSnarker but tends to observe the world with a dry, detached wit. Apparently loves his work but has a secret passion to open a flower shop.

Arguably plays up the eccentric more than the millionaire and is generally loveable.

* ''WesternAnimation/ChickenRun'': The primary chickens of Tweedy’s Farm, who’s overarching goal is to get themselves and all their fellow fowl out of their oppressive environment and to freedom.

** [[TheSmartGuy The Smart Girl]]: Mac. Skilled in mathematics and engineering, with some medical knowledge. Brings Ginger’s plans to life.

** TheBigGuy: The ironically-named Little John. Easily the tallest and strongest of Robin's band, he wields a battle ax more often than a bow or a sword. Has some of Will’s “party animal” and womanizing tendencies, not as eloquent/intellectual as Alan, and occasionally displays Robin-like moments of stoicism.

** TheChick: Etta Candy. Steve Trevor’s perky yet iron-willed secretary. A Suffragette who's not afraid to get verbally snarky or physically confrontational, she takes an instant liking to Diana and helps the Amazon navigate her new surroundings. Serves as the home base helmswoman for their mission.

*** Mako is an orphan who largely grew up on the streets and struggled to survive. While he’s become a successful pro-athlete - and later a solid police officer/detective - his personality is more world-weary and cynical when compared to Korra’s zest for life. Despite their differences, he trusts Korra explicitly and will go out of his way to support her goals.
*** Asami Sato is the daughter of an extremely wealthy industrialist and a stunningly pretty GirlyGirl compared to Korra’s more {{Tomboy}} aesthetic. Despite her background, Asami is no snob and is openly generous to everyone. The only non-bender in the initial group, she also becomes Korra’s most significant relationship, and the two form an official couple by series’ end.
** TheSmartGuy: Asami is an amazingly clever engineer, having been raised amidst all the technological know-how of her father’s company. She not only pilots a multitude of vehicles, she can repair them with ease, as well as design and build completely original ones. While she initially struggles to gain real-world business savvy, she ultimately continues to maintain the company’s status as a lead innovator.

*** Bolin is Mako’s younger brother and physical foil: An earthbender to Mako’s firebender, he is shorter and broader with bigger muscles (earthbending is, by nature, much more physical). Bolin is also bigger emotionally; his displays of feeling tend to be more outsized and dramatic, sometimes bordering on straight-up hammy, which makes him a successful actor.
*** Asami’s beauty and femininity belies her prowess as a fighter. Trained in self-defense since childhood, she’s more than capable of holding her own in combat, and moves very gracefully while doing it. Her technological know-how also enables her to develop hidden weapons that can help to level the field if the opponent is larger and/or a bender.
*** Naga is Korra’s domesticated Polar Bear Dog. While she occasionally serves as the SignatureTeamTransport, technology has advanced to an extent that beasts of burden have largely been phased out. Although highly affectionate, Naga can go straight-up feral when Korra or the team is threatened, and her size makes her a formidable opponent.
** TheHeart: Bolin, as the younger sibling, is more emotionally open than Mako, and tends to have a more positive outlook on life. He’s good at reading emotional situations and knows when the team is out of sync. While his own relationship history is somewhat disastrous, he is a genuinely good person and arguably fits the so-called “himbo” archetype (i.e. attractive, friendly bordering on dim, and muscley).

*** Opal Beifong is a young airbender that Korra takes under her wing and instructs in the basics of the art. Although she doesn’t fully integrate into the team, as a member of the prominent Beifong family, her side plots often intersect with the team’s, and her contributions are usually significant. She and Bolin also end up as a couple by the end, bringing her more into the fold.

** TeamPet: Pabu is a fire ferret rescued by Bolin and whose role is analogous to Momo in the original series. Communicating primarily through clicks and growls, he still has a fair amount of personality. A valued member of the team, Bolin completely adores Pabu and will go to great lengths to keep him safe. While Naga’s first instinct upon meeting Pabu is to eat him, they eventually form a bond.

*** TheLancer: Rocket is the [[{{Foil}} most cynical and reluctant to follow Star-Lord]]. Drax's literal mindedness is a [[{{Foil}} counterpoint to Star-Lord's wit and metaphors]]. Gamora's [[{{Foil}} pragmatism contrasts Star-Lord's jokey and well-meaning antics,]] but they both have good hearts.
*** TheSmartGuy: Rocket is a GadgeteerGenius who makes many devices, from planet-destroying bombs and weapons to A/V systems so they can play some nice battle music. He also started as TheLeader in the first film's [[GreatEscape prison break scene]].
*** TheBigGuy: Groot is a DoAnythingRobot and GentleGiant. A ''beast'' in combat but also has many useful flora abilities, from extended reach and bioluminescent pods to wooden shielding. Also fills the role of TheHeart as the most compassionate of the team and generally only gets aggressive when necessary. Drax the Destroyer is a BoisterousBruiser and far more fight-happy in contrast to Groot. As his name and personality implies, he has elements of ProudWarriorRaceGuy, and his main reason for fighting is to avenge the slaughter of his family and people.
