* An anagram is the solution to one of the puzzles in ''VideoGame/MysteryCase Files: The 13th Skull'', and also a significant clue to the backstory of the game. [[spoiler:Two different characters have names which are anagrams of one another - they're really the same person.]]

* In ''[[AuntDimity Aunt Dimity: Vampire Hunter]]'', the surname of the owners of Aldercot Hall is [=DuCaral=]. Elderly recluse Lizzie Black [[LampshadeHanging spells the name and the anagram Dracula]] on the hearthstone with her fireplace poker during Lori's visit to her farmhouse.

** Amy Pond actress Karen Gillan revealed in an interview that her auditions were conducted for a project named "Panic Moon" which is an anagram of companion. Producer Stephen Moffat, who was also present, then joked that he would have to find a new anagram for future companion auditions.

* Matt Albie from ''Studio60OnTheSunsetStrip'' has drug-induced false memories of an imaginary writer named Tim Batale. Yes, his subconscious comes with an anagram under the influence of narcotics.

* Accidental but really cool example: ''[[{{Theatre/Hamlet}} To be or not to be: that is the question, whether tis nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune.]]'' becomes... "In one of the Bard's best-thought-of tragedies, our insistent hero, Hamlet, queries on two fronts about how life turns rotten."

* The InteractiveFiction game ''Delightful Wallpaper'', intended as an homage to Edward Gorey, was submitted by author AndrewPlotkin under the anagram "Edgar O. Weyrd".

** There is always a large debate in the fandom over what their names mean, de-anagrammed. The only canon ones are [[spoiler: Ansem]] (1), Braig (2), Dilan (3), Even (4), Aeleus (5), Ienzo (6), Isa (7), Lea (8) and [[spoiler: Sora]] (13).
*** Marluxia's (11) is almost certainly Lumaria, which is a genus of a certain group of flowers. And, well, given that his element is [[PetalPower flowers...]]
** Unfortunately for Xemnas, if you leave in the X, his name is an anagram for "mansex" (or "sexman"), something that is made fun of a lot in {{Fanon}}. Oddly enough, nobody ever seems to make fun of Bigrax (2) and Rent-a-Ho (Xehanort).
*** And let's not forget E-Sexual (5).

** And although probably unintentional, [[spoiler:Ansem]] can be rearranged into [[spoiler:Names]].

*** Although considering [[JigsawPuzzlePlot this]] [[EpilepticTrees is]] [[MindScrew Kingdom Hearts]] [[FlipFlopOfGod we're talking about]], it's probably intentional.

*** The Portuguese version left his name unaltered and used the untranslated sentence "I am Lord Voldemort" with a translator note describing its meaning.
**** [[FridgeBrilliance Which is perfect]] because despite being translated, the novel's still taking place in an English-speaking country and thus Voldemort has no logical reason to have chosen his name using a different language. [[FridgeLogic Even though "Voldemort" is a]] MeaningfulName ''[[GratuitousFrench only in French]]''...

* In MassEffect's [[Fanfic/WeightlessMassEffect Weightless]], when he first came to Omega, Garrus used many aliases; one of those was ‘Han Jaedsper’, which is an anagram of ‘Jane Shepard’. Mierin was able to trace back to him using this clue.

* Dr. Chakwas of ''VideoGame/MassEffect,'' whose name is an anagram of "hacksaw." According to WordOfGod, it's meant to play off "sawbones" as a nickname for a trauma surgeon.

* In the ''{{Discworld}}'', Sam Vimes recognises (in ''{{Thud}}'') that the mole in the Watch is Sally von Humpeding when he intecepts a message to her spy master. It is signed "Ailicilas", which he realises is the name "Salicilia" written backwards in true "Alucard" vampire style.
* In @@UnseenAcademicals'', the romantic novelist "Iriadne C. Buttworthy" was discovered, by observant readers, to be an almost-correct anagram of "Cut-My-Own-Throat Dibbler", leading to the suggestion that, ever looking for the big paycheque, dibbler spends his spare time writing trashy romantic fiction.

* ''TheToweringInferno'' = "not worth fire engine".

* The second Just Cause: Sloth Demon? [[spoiler: Tom Sheldon]]

* On the TooGoodToLast martial arts show ''Series/WMACMasters'' all the Masters go by their real names and nicknames except one. Tracer, a mysterious man with a military gimmick, is really a kickboxer named Michael Foley who goes by the name Tracy Swedom on the show. It's soon revealed that he's a mole working for the evil cult Jukido. The reason for the fake name is revealed when the Wizard (who's an ex-member of Jukido and aware that his brother Warlock has recently made a secret HeelFaceTurn to join them) brings in an anagram generator and enters other masters' names in it, revealing that "Tracy Swedom" is a perfect anagram for "Destroy WMAC".

* In LloydAlexander's ''Westmark'' series, the conman Count Las Bombas's alter egos are near-but-not-quite anagrams of Las Bombas and of each other, including "Dr Absalom" and "Mynheer Bloomsa".

** One of the new characters in ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWars Z'' is an antagonist named Asakim Dowen, which immediately got him to be referred as 'Evil Masaki'. Not only is his name is an anagram to Masaki, but he's also clad in black bondage gear, looks {{emo}}, and has the same voice with Masaki (Probably HikaruMidorikawa is going to use his standard voice for Asakim), and his mecha is considered to be like a 'Black Cybuster'.

* The {{roguelike}} ADOM uses these for a number of names; [[TheSheriff Tywat Pare]] from Wyatt Earp, [[WretchedHive Lawenilothel]] from hole-in-the-wall, Gaab'Baay from Baba Yaga, and the fourteen statues in the Bug-Infested Temple which are named after Thomas Biskup and the thirteen prerelease testers.

Similarly, characters hunting for a clever alias, or attempting to rename themselves, have a strange tendency to choose anagrams; compare SdrawkcabName.

* In the BigFinishDoctorWho Unbound audio ''[[Recap/BigFinishDoctorWhoUnboundE2SympathyForTheDevil Sympathy For The Devil]]'', Colonel Ke Le is played by Sam Kisgart; the anagram hiding that he's [[spoiler: Mark Gattis. His "doing an Ainley" here is just a bit of fun, since knowing Ke Le is Mark Gatiss gives the listener no reason to think he's the Master]].

** Yuki Jojima, the GenkiGirl, has her anagram be [[spoiler:I am Gemini, relating to her stint as the [[SixthRanger Gemini Zodiarts]]]].

** Emoto's anagram is [[spoiler: Omoto, which is Japanese for virgin. As in ''[[TheDragon Virgo]]'']].

* Dennis Lehane's ''ShutterIsland'' resolves into a number of anagram names.

* ''TheDarkTower'':
** The last book has a [[spoiler: psychic vampire named Dandelo who lived at Odd Lane. He at least has the sense to add an S to the sign pointing to his house, making it spell ''Odd's Lane'', though technically, the S and apostrophe on the sign would make it an even better anagram: ''Dandelo's''.]]
