*** The Marufuji brothers, Sho and his older brother Ryo a.k.a. Kaiser. Sho is short, looks nerdy, and at the beginning of the series, he has severe confidence issues, resulting him enrolling the Osiris Red Dorm (the worst dorm) during his first year. Kaiser, on the hand, is not only very confident, but also TheAce of the entire school. The two eventually go very different paths from season 2 onwards. Sho becomes much more confident in himself, resulting him being promoted into the Ra Yellow Dorm (and eventually the Obelisk Blue Dorm during his third year), whereas as Kaiser has stepped into a darker, violent path that harms both, his opponent and himself during Dueling; now being nicknamed Hell Kaiser. Their decks are also different from each other. They both use Machine decks, but Sho uses Roids, which look like cartoonish toy vehicles and machines, whereas Kaiser uses the much more menacing looking Cyber Dragons, other animalistic looking Cyber monsters, and the even more draconic Cyberdark monsters. Their respective character developments ultimately lead to Kaiser retiring from Dueling as a consequence of his health issues caused by the misuse of his Cyberdark monsters, and Sho inheriting Kaiser's deck, but without the issues that his brother had to endure.

*** Kurosaki and his younger sister Ruri use both bird-themed decks, with Kurosaki using the very mechanical Raid Raptors/Raidraptors, which are based on predatory birds, whereas Ruri uses the very humanoid and harpy-like Lyrical Luscinia/Lyrilusc monsters. Both of their decks heavily side on WeakButSkilled and compensate for it with their ZergRush strategy to summon their also WeakButSkilled Xyz Monsters, but Kurosaki's Xyz Monsters evolve into bigger, stronger monsters and most of his Xyz Monsters are designed to destroy opposing Special Summoned monsters, whereas Yuri's Xyz Monsters mainly stay weak, revolve around having as many Over Ray Units as possible and attack the opponent directly instead. Kurosaki is a brooding stoic with a nonsense attitude who has difficult time befriending people outside his home dimension, whereas Ruri is friendly, more sociable, but has some deep confidence issues.

* ''Series/DowntonAbbey'': Cora is kind, well-mannered, cultured, dresses in SimpleYetOpulent style and has slotted right into life in the English aristocracy. Her brother Harold is a crass, boorish borderline caricature of a NoveauRiche [[{{Eagleland}} American]] who loves flashy clothes, yachts, and short-term relationships with women half his age. It is, perhaps, telling that their mutual greeting after not having seen each other in years is a wave and a "hello".

Trish pursues superheroics with such desperation she ultimately flounders, bringing danger on herself and her loved ones yet refusing to assume responsibility by refusing to see she's not suited for this path.

* Shigeo and Ritsu of ''Manga/MobPsycho100'' are almost polar opposites. Shigeo is a frail, socially awkward LoserProtagonist with no talents other than the [[BlessedWithSuck godlike psychic powers that have very little applicability to the life he wants to live]]. Ritsu, meanwhile, is the effortlessly brilliant SchoolIdol who seems to have been gifted with everything except the psychic powers [[IJustWantToBeSpecial he desperately craves]]. Despite their MutualEnvy, they seem to have a very healthy and supportive relationship [[spoiler:right up until Ritsu's own psychic powers awaken and he feels self-assured enough to unleash all the fear and resentment towards his brother that he'd been suppressing all this time]].

** Luther and Diego. Both are headstrong and butt heads when it comes to the leading the siblings, but Luther where is straightforward and naive Diego is stealthy and cynical. Luther also [[EmotionalBruiser wears his heart on his sleeve]], while Diego keeps his [[HurtingHero grief]] bottled up. Luther also works better up close with GoodOldFisticuffs while Diego with his ImprobableAimingSkills works best from a distance with his [[KnifeNut throwing knives]].

* ''Manga/{{Touch}}'' has Kazuya and Tatsuya, the former being a serious, hard-working student and sportsman in contrast with her laid-back, lazy brother. This is deliberate on Tatsuya's part, since he refuses to overshadow his brother in any way, shape or form.

* ''WesternAnimation/SouthPark'': Stan is very mild-mannered and easygoing, whereas his sister Shelly is extremely hot-headed and borderline unstable.

** InvokedTrope with Fran and Veronica, who were outright [[ArtificialHuman made to be this]]. Fran was made to preserve life (which can lead to [[FateWorseThanDeath unpleasant results]]); Veronica was made to end it (which she prefers to do swiftly and painlessly, though often gratuitously). Fran tries to put Veronica more on her side of the scale, but so far, no dice.

* ''WesternAnimation/StormHawks'': Among the two Cyclonian siblings, Ravess is a cultured perfectionist and Snipe is a gluttonous slob. Repton and Lugey could count too: Repton is a cunning, brutal and vicious ringleader whilst Lugey is a dim-witted, oafish and Affably Evil subordinate.

** ''GT'' gives this dynamic to [[spoiler: Lapis and Lazuli]] aka Android 17 and 18. While 18 has mellowed out and become compassionate having settled down with Krillin and has a daughter with him, 17 much like his psychotic BadFuture counterpart still thinks everything is a game and is disgusted by his sister bonding with humans. In DBZ and Super 17 and 18 are much closer in personality with the only noticeable differences is that 17 is more cocky and battle loving than 18 but also less cautious (which gets him absorbed by Cell quicker). 18 also loves clothes and shopping, which bores 17 to tears.

*** [[spoiler: Reiju will immensely more moral than her brothers still differs from her favorite bro Sanji, while she’s merely flirtatious he’s complete HandsomeLech. Reiju also can’t fathom why Sanji sacrifices himself to protect someone (Zeff) as she’s lived a life luxury while he almost died sailing the East Blue]].

* ''WesternAnimation/ThePowerpuffGirls'' have Buttercup, a tough angry {{tomboy}}, and Bubbles, a gentle GirlyGirl, who almost never gets mad. Blossom is somewhere between them personality-wise, but she also is the most intelligent one.

** Initially James Howlett aka ComicBook/{{Wolverine}} and his brother Dog Logan as ironically Wolverine as a kid was a sweet little pampered IllBoy while Dog was a malicious and brutish bully. When James [[TookALevelInBadass grew up]] he became more vicious like his brother, though still more compassionate than Dog at heart.

** Alex and Olivier Armstrong. Alex Armstrong, a.k.a. [[FanNickname Colonel Clean]], is the almost grotesquely overmuscled poster boy for PecFlex and prone to fits of staggering [[LargeHam overacting]] at every possible opportunity, often with ManlyTears, and he's actually a total softy. His older sister Olivier is a BadassNormal of epic proportions, a slim, MagnificentBitch SocialDarwinist LadyOfWar who can call Ed short without him even trying to argue and has no compunction about killing representatives from Central because they tried to get her involved in a soul-stealing murder conspiracy that amounts to betraying the whole country, and tried to [[AFatherToHisMen take her men away]], and pushing their bodies into wet concrete.

* ''VideoGame/{{Undertale}}'' has [[FanNickname the Skelebros]]: Papyrus is boisterous and enthusiastic but [[TheComicallySerious takes himself a bit too seriously at times]]; his brother Sans is TheSlacker and [[SadClown hides an almost-nihilistic depression behind a constant string of pranks and bad puns]]. If there's one thing they have in common, it's that [[BewareTheSillyOnes neither of them are to be taken lightly]].

* ''Franchise/YuGiOH'': A common theme within the franchise, especially if they are of the opposite sex.

*** Jounouchi and his younger sister Shizuka, which is also made poignant due to them living under different households after their parents divorced. Jounouchi spent a good chunk of his life being "raised" by his abusive, constantly drunk father, thus Jounouchi becoming a thug and brawler, but gave up his delinquent days after becoming friends with Yugi, and eventually becoming a respectable Duelist. Shizuka is kind and sweet-hearted girl, but also rather naive, and she is neither a Duelist nor violent. The one character trait thing they do have in common is that they are both not hesistant to jump into the water for someone else's sake.
*** Ishizu and Marik. Ishizu firmly believes in destiny, stays loyal to her family tradition and the Nameless Pharaoh and fights for the good. Marik has always desired to leave his underground home, has developed a SuperpoweredEvilSide to cope for his trauma, then he eventually becomes a criminal bent on revenge on the Nameless Pharaoh because he thought the Pharaoh was responsible for the death of his (abusive) father. The 4Kids localization has turned Marik more into a power-hungry criminal than a revenge-driven one.

Fubuki's deck is more masculine, using Beast Warriors and Dragons, particularly the Red-Eyes archetype.
** ''Anime/YuGiOh5Ds'': This is played very straight with Luca and her older twin brother Lua. Luca is quiet, responsible, has a little confident issues, but is very skilled. And she also has a connection to the Duel Spirit World, and fittingly has a mystical nature-themed deck. Lua is loud, overconfident and brash, but he's not nearly as skilled as his sister is, he has no connection to the Spirit World, but has a spiritual connection to his sister instead, and his deck is a Deformer/Morphtronic deck, Machine monsters that take the form between robots and household machines like ''Transformers''.

*** Yuma is loud and a bit obnoxious Foolish Sibling to his mature adult sister's Responsible Sibling. Yuma is a Duelist, whereas Akari is never seen dueling.
*** The Kamishiro twins, Ryoga (a.k.a. Shark) and Rio, both use WATER decks, but Shark's deck is Shark-themed and masculine, whereas as Rio's deck is themed after ice birds and has more feminine monsters. Personality-wise, there isn't a stark contrast between the two, other than the fact that Shark is more aggressive and quite emotional, whereas Rio is a more sociable person.

* ComicBook/ShangChi’s father Zheng Zu and uncle Zheng Yi, the two heads of the Five Weapons Society - and both powerful sorcerers. Zheng Yi, the younger, was portrayed as calmer, wiser and less vengeful. After his brother’s death, Zheng Zu took a darker path.
