Tried to polish up the distinction as Sub Trope to a Super Trope

Contrasting with TheMatchmaker, the Shipper On Deck is usually a secondary character and the characters shipped are the protagonists of the story, and likely to be the OfficialCouple. Also contrast with RelationshipSabotage, where someone is trying to undermine a relationship that already exists (although the two can be part of the same plot quite easily, if the idea is to get someone out of one relationship and into another). Also contrasts with ShippingTorpedo, in which a character is against a pairing but may or may not go so far as to act on it, or MatchmakerCrush, when a character starts out trying to help one character hook up with another, but ends up falling in love with the person they were helping.

* PlayedForLaughs in the ''VideoGame/PuyoPuyo'' light novel ''Amitie and the Girl of Love''. Because of her own exotic and broad definition of love (as well as the cast's general unawareness of it), Ally ends up misunderstanding relationships left and right and flustering everybody involved. It happens with:
** Schezo/Arle, falling for Schezo's signature [[ThatCameOutWrong unfortunate declarations]] in regards to Arle. To be fair to her, she's not the first to make this mistake.
** Dark Prince/Rulue, unaware that it's just a one-sided fantasy on the latter's part.
** Schezo/Rulue, as she apparently has no idea that the concept of VitriolicBestBuds (what Arle essentially describes their relationship as) is a thing.
** Klug/Amitie, because they were having a "passionate" discussion.

* In ''WebAnimation/HomestarRunner,'' an... unusual example happens in the Sbemail "fan fiction." It's revealed that Strong Sad has written fanfic about his brother Strong Bad and Homestar Runner, with Strong Bad "putting on a bonnet and giving Homestar a deep tissue massage." It's clearly a parody of shipping fanfics, though it's left ambiguous if Strong Sad ships them purely in fanfic, or if he ships them in real life, too. Homestar ''has'' occasionally seemed to [[AmbiguouslyBi harbor a crush on Strong Bad]] (and upon hearing about Strong Sad's fic, was excited about the prospect of a massage from SB).

This character could be [[MatchmakerCrush someone in love with one of the characters in the pairing]] [[IWantMyBelovedToBeHappy who wants their beloved to be happy]], or could be a very good friend, or just someone who likes playing matchmaker. If ''everyone'' in the cast is shipping the same pairing it becomes a case of EveryoneCanSeeIt. May overlap with LoveInformant.

Beware a CreatorsPet if this is the writer trying to reinforce a disliked pairing.
