Her hair, as well as Chibiusa's, is intended to look like a rabbit's ears, and Chibiusa is even referred to as "Rabbit" at various points in the series, usually by members of the Black Moon Clan. Other little nods abound, such as Usagi wearing pajamas with rabbits on them.
