* ZettaiRyouiki: Kirino sports this in episode 4 of the anime, and seems to like this style in general--she is a model, after all. It can also be seen in several of the games she plays throughout the series, as well as the first chapter of the manga.

** Episode 7 featured a department store called "SHIBUYA[[OneHundredAndEight 108]]" (its real-life counterpart is "[[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/109_(department_store) SHIBUYA109]]") and a Web search engine called "[[Website/{{Google}} Beegle]]".

* NoEnding: [[spoiler:The series basically ends with Kyousuke not really ending up with any of the girls.]]

* MaleGaze:
** [[http://safebooru.org/index.php?page=post&s=view&id=587010 Admit it, you were staring.]]
** This happens in the manga ''a lot''. There are at least eight glaring examples in the first two chapters alone.

** The anime's episodes titles all follow the formula "there's no way my (noun) can be this (adjective)", so much it's became a meme. Guess what is the episode's main point.
** Of course, that way you can know what the episode in question will feature just by turning the sentence in the affirmative form, so it's more like a subversion.

* PantyShot / ThanksForTheMammary:

** Kirino (and Kyousuke, for that matter) takes after their father Daisuke Kousaka, who after discovering his children liked anime looked into stories of what watching anime might do to them, after which he spouted verbatim the Tsundere creed.

*** The afterstory than pulls a [[DoubleSubversion]] and [[spoiler: confirms that they only ended the public side of their romance and are normal siblings to the public. But are successfully still romantic in private.]]

&& Every EyeCatch is a CG Anime DVD box that reveals a different Eroge DVD inside in reference to the incident that kicked off the show, Siscalypse game clips are shown in 3D, and the PSP game's Two Shot scenes are done with real time cel-shaded animation instead of the normal sprites.

* ThreeDEffectsTwoDCartoon:

* ConspicuousCG: For some reason, Kyousuke's drinking of tea in some episodes of the anime are [[MundaneMadeAwesome rendered with what's clearly cel-shaded 3D instead of regular animation.]] Every EyeCatch is a CG Anime DVD box that reveals a different Eroge DVD inside in reference to the incident that kicked off the show, Siscalypse game clips are shown in 3D, and the PSP game's Two Shot scenes are done with real time cel-shaded animation instead of the normal sprites.
** Season two[[note]][[SpecialEffectsEvolution which swaps out]] the [[Creator/SanzigenAnimationStudio company]] of the first series with [[Creator/TakahashiProduction T2 Studio]], who did photography duties on both seasons[[/note]] ups this with the ''Love Touch'' sequences in episode 2 being done ''entirely'' in cel-shaded CG. A similarly CG AstronomicZoom also pops up at the end.
*** Episode 1 also has a scene with Kirino picking up (obviously computerized) boxes.
*** Episode 1's ending also features CG bubbles.

** Averted to one degree though, in the first episode when Kirino shows off her collection of eroge, if one looks closely at the titles, one can spot ''[[SchoolDays School Days]]'' and its' sequels ''Summer Days'' and ''Cross Days'' among other actual visual novels and eroge.

* CaramelldansenVid:
** Referenced in the manga on page 5 of chapter 7.
** Kuroneko does do the Caramelldansen pose for a brief moment during the ending where she's posing in front of the mirror.

* GameBreakingBug: In-universe example. In episode 14, Kuroneko is working on a game for an internet contest, and Kyousuke is beta-testing it. After a while, he runs into some pretty big bugs that either causes the game to freeze up, crash, or cause other unintended consequences. The other members of the game club mention that it would take at least a week to fix all the problems, which means they'd miss the deadline. In a rather [[CrowningMomentOfHeartWarming heartwarming scene]], she swallows her pride and asks Sena, who's a skilled programmer,(and whose own idea for a game got shot down earlier in the episode) for her help to finish the game and get rid of the bugs before the contest deadline. With Sena's help, they manage to make it in time.

** Kyousuke gives one to Kirino during his harem party in episode 11, right before her [[CrowningMomentOfHeartWarming apology]].

** Subverted at the beginning of the series. There's no way my sister is this cut- [[AllJustADream *Wakes up by alarm clock*]]. Eventually played straight at the end of episode 3, [[spoiler: after Kirino blushes and [[CrowningMomentOfHeartwarming calls Kyousuke "aniki" for the first time]]]].

* BittersweetEnding: [[spoiler:Kirino and Kyousuke do get together. But in the process, he ends up hurting several girls who fell in love with him and ruining his relationship with Manami(albeit justifiable to as she has been manipulating Kyousuke, mentally scarred Kirino, and was the reason their relationship went sour). The kicker is that after they graduate, they split up due to a prior agreement for this to be temporary. But they are still closer than they ever were and it's implied(more heavily in the Novels) that they may secretly still be together as their feelings for each other haven't changed.]]

** If not actually happening between the siblings[[spoiler:which it eventually does, implied continued after ending]], at least [[HGame one of Kirino's obsessions]] keeps feeding it.

* ShipSinking: Several are destroyed and sunk in season 2 of the anime:

*** Later on, [[IncestSubtext Kirino instead enjoys the misinterpretation and flaunts it]], while Kyousuke remains virtually oblivious, spiteful, or scarred aobut possible misunderstandings should their parents find out.

A second season that follows the True End aired as a part of Spring2013Anime season. Both of the two seasons and three part episode series finale can be viewed legally at Creator/{{Crunchyroll}} under the name ''Oreimo'' [[http://www.crunchyroll.com/oreimo here.]]

* ShipTease: Lots. It's most {{egregious}} in episode 6 of the anime, which is almost literally nothing ''but''. This includes the end song.

* {{Cosplay}}: This overlaps with CosplayOtakuGirl. In the PSP VisualNovel, there's a rather risque-looking minigame version of {{Arkanoid}} where you basically knock off the girls' clothes as you progress. They start off cosplaying as appropriate ''LightNovel/ACertainMagicalIndex'' characters (for instance, Kirino as Mikoto and Kuroneko as Index) and Index herself guest stars. They end up in bikinis [[FanService for some reason]].

* XMeetsY: It's ''LightNovel/NogizakaHarukaNoHimitsu'' meets ''Manga/{{Genshiken}}''.

** Then in episode 10 she gets [[Anime/MagicalGirlLyricalNanoha stuffed into a loli magical girl cosplay]].

* GettingCrapPastTheRadar: Now just what exactly is that stuff on Manami's face (read: Kuroneko's depiction of Manami in a doujin she made) in the middle of episode 11? This also happens in a few [[ImagineSpot imagine spots]] of the manga, showing the ShowWithinAShow lolis being covered with some sort of liquid while certain unclothed body parts are just barely off the frame.

* TheGlomp: Ria gives a couple of these to Kyousuke. Kirino also always walks in on it shortly afterwards, causing her to accuse him of being a {{Lolicon}}, despite his attempts to explain it's simply a NotWhatItLooksLike moment.

* {{Lolicon}}:
** Kirino is one to some extent.
** In episode 4 of Season 2, Kirino constantly calls Kyousuke this when Ria, her's roommate and athletic rival from the time she spent in the US, comes to visit her for a few days.
** It is revealed that [[spoiler:Mikagami is a hardcore lolicon. There was an incident when he took a cosplayer home after Comiket and photos were taken of it, then spread over the internet. When he realized his popularity and career were failing because of it, he decided to go "all or nothing" and publicly revealed that he cannot possibly be into ''real'' lolis because 2D lolis are better.]] It fails miserably, but he is quite content afterwords.

* ADayInTheLimeLight:
** Episode 6 of the anime has Kyosuke spend a lot of time with his female friend Manami, to the point where he ends up sleeping over at her house, with a lot of [[ShipTease encouragement]] from Manami's grandparents.
** Episode 3 of season 2 focuses entirely on Saori, giving her much needed back story, and how she became interested in anime and manga.
** Kuroneko gets all of Volume Five of the novel and the ONA webisodes devoted to her, which is when Kirino is PutOnABus. She gets some more attention in episodes 7 & 8 in season 2, [[spoiler: after her RelationshipUpgrade with Kyousuke.]]
** Volume Nine of the LightNovel is a collection of short stories that each focuses on different characters, including Saori, Kouhei, and Sena.

** Kirino owns [[NintendoDS Mintendouu CS]] games, among other examples.

* AlliterativeName: The Kousaka siblings, Kyosuke and Kirino. Also, Ayase Aragaki and Kanako Kurusu.

** Sure, Saori's chosen surname of "Bajeena" may be a well known Franchise/{{Gundam}} character, but to those uninitiated to anime it sounds [[FreudWasRight awkwardly like a prominent part of the female reproductive anatomy]], so much so that Kyousuke did a ''massive'' SpitTake from shock when he first heard it.

''Oreimo'' (Short for '''''Ore''' No '''Imo'''uto Ga Konna Ni Kawaii Wake Ga Nai'', or ''"There's No Way My Little Sister Can Be This Cute"'') is a comedy LightNovel series with several adaptations. A [[TwelveEpisodeAnime 12-episode]] [[AnimatedAdaptation anime adaptation]] aired in fall 2010. It had an anime-original ending which was called the "good end" by {{AIC}}, followed by a 4-episode "true" ending that followed the novel more closely and aired as Webisodes before being released to Blu-ray/DVD. Aniplex licensed the anime for a North American release. A {{manga}} adaptation of the same name ran from 2009 to 2011, while a SpinOff manga starring the popular [[ElegantGothicLolita Kuroneko]] titled ''Ore no Kouhai Ga Konna Ni Kawaii Wake Ga Nai!'' (''"There's No Way My Junior Can Be This Cute!"'') by the same {{mangaka}} has begun in 2011. A PSP (non-canon) VisualNovel featuring a route for each girl has been released, with a [[http://tlwiki.tsukuru.info/index.php?title=Ore_no_Imouto_ga_Konna_ni_Kawaii_Wake_ga_Nai_Portable full translation project under way.]] An expanded version of the PSP game has been released.
