Britney is duplicated, and no need to indent this Scorpions entry (along with using italics instead of quotes)

** "Mona Lisa (Demo Version)" also has an extra meaning after the well-publicized erratic behavior and meltdowns:
-->''About Mona Lisa, and how she suddenly fell (huh)\\
See everyone knew her, they knew her oh so well\\
Now I am taking over, to release her from her spell\\
\\
Don't have a break down you will hit the freaking wall\\

** Though released in 1988, Edie Brickell and New Bohemians' "Little Miss S." [[http://www.metrolyrics.com/little-miss-s-lyrics-edie-brickell-the-new-bohemians.html reads today]] as eerily prescient of Britney at her worst, even getting one of the initials right.

** ''Wind of Change'', a famous ballad celebrating perestroika, often seems like an example of this trope to many Russians, since the fall of the Union resulted in many tragic events in Russia (and most other post-Soviet countries too). The line about an "August summer night, soldiers passing by" is perhaps the most jarring, since the most dramatic events of the [=GKChP=] coup unfolded exactly at August summer nights just one year later after the song was recorded, and yes, it did involve soldiers.
*** The fact that Germans consider this song a symbol of one of the most joyous events in their history may seem like pure schadenfreude if you think about it.

Music.Genesis has been moved to Music.Genesis Band. I also added a wick to Calling All Stations.

* "One Man's Fool" by Music/{{Genesis}}, the closing track on their 1997 album ''Calling All Stations'', opens with the absolutely haunting line "As the buildings crumble, tumble to the ground, and the dust-filled smoke rises in the air, you know that somebody somewhere looks with pride, they're satisfied." Then gets even more on the nose with lines like "And on the morning after do you realize, See the ruined faces and the ruined lives". At the time, it was referring to a destructive truck bombing that happened in Manchester, England a year prior. But in a modern context, you'd swear this song was written as a heartbroken reaction to 9/11.

** To a lesser extent, the opening line of "Miami 2017", [[RefrainFromAssuming "I've seen the lights go out on Broadway."]] It was written in the 1970s. The lights going out on Broadway, then, was the first sign of the destruction of New York City. After New York got through its bankruptcy issues that decade, the song came to seem silly. Then, in the winter of 2007, the writers' strike did shut down Broadway.

* Music/CourtneyLove (controversial wife of Kurt Cobain) was in a band called Hole, which released an album called ''Music/LiveThroughThis'' on April 12, 1994 - only four days after Kurt Cobain was found dead in his home. To make matters worse, one of the songs (entitled "Rock Star", a thing Kurt was never comfortable with being) has a line "Barrel of laughs to be Music/{{Nirvana}}, hope you'd rather die". Even if you're aware that the album was completed before Kurt died, it's still pretty creepy (especially with the conspiracy theory that [[NeverSuicide Courtney murdered Kurt]]). It's possibly worth noting that Hole's bassist, Kristen Pfaff, died of a heroin overdose two months later. Similar to Music/{{Slayer}}'s ''God Hates Us All'' [[UsefulNotes/TheWarOnTerror seven years later]], the unfortunate release date was just bad timing.

* "Rehab" from ''Music/BackToBlack'' by Music/AmyWinehouse (and all is a wry song about Amy rejecting rehab as a useful path for her. Her public image also found itself centered on the "drugs" element of "sex, drugs and rock 'n roll" in the public eye, garnering many jokes about Winehouse being a drugged-up mess) has officially become more disturbing since she passed away after a short lifetime of drugs it. Both the song and the general jokes about her drug use became painful rather than funny due to the heavily apparent negative effects substance abuse had on Amy, leading soon to her untimely death of alcohol abuse.poisoning at 27.

** A couple lines from "Creeque Alley": ''And no one's gettin' fat except Mama Cass/And everybody's gettin' fat except Mama Cass''. The first one was actually referring to Cass Elliot being wealthy, but takes on a whole new meaning on July 29, 1974 after her weight contributed to dying in her sleep from a heart attack; the second one talks about the success of The Journeymen, Music/TheByrds, and Music/TheLovinSpoonful before The Mamas And The Papas were founded, but ''before'' Mama Cass joined the group; after her death, some people ''are'' getting fat except her.

* Harlem rapper Big L's line in "Street Struck": "Stay off them corners, that might be your best plan/before you catch a bullet that was meant for the next man." Guess what happens to him four years later?

* There are two filk albums, ''Music/AVeryScarySolstice'' and ''An Even Scarier Solstice'', with solstice carols inspired by Creator/HPLovecraft's horror writings, intended for the listener who's sick of the usual [[TastesLikeDiabetes Christmas soundtrack]] and relying heavily on LyricalDissonance for its comedic effect. This combination backfires badly when you listen to it on Christmas 2015, while catching up on the outcomes of the just concluded 21st international climate conference, and realize that Cthulu and R'yleh work quite well as a metaphor for the [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clathrate_gun_hypothesis "methane clathrate gun"]]. And there are many people (climate scientists) who really do have nightmares about it, and at least a few particularly pessimist dark-green activists have developed mental illness (depression) and even committed suicide.[[/note]] Suddenly, songs like [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ptP0OR-e7rI "Death to the World"]] are a lot less funny.

* The Argentine rock band Music/SodaStereo has a song called ''Cuando pase el temblor'' (After the trembling) that has the verses "Wake me up after the trembling". In 2010, Gustavo Cerati, former vocals and guitar of the band, suffered a cerebral stroke after a show in Venezuela, remaining in a coma under respiratory aide until his death in September 2014.
** Additionally, "temblor" can also means "earthquake", which took a different meaning after the song was released in the immediate aftermath of the 1985 Mexico City earthquake that killed thousands. Due to this coincidence, the song was banned in several radio stations across Mexico after its release.
