Fletchling being the "alarm clock" references how the PlayerCharacter in VideoGame/PokemonXAndY and Serena in the anime are awakened.
** In Chapter 2 after Adrien temporarily leaves to give Marinette a moment with her parents, Tom jokingly kneels on one knee as if to propose, saying how much Adrien is a keeper and telling his daughter to speak up now, much like Bonnie's RunningGag from the X and Y anime. ** Like in the game, Adrien is constantly challenged by various trainers to Pokémon battles during his journey due to his father's issuing a challenge to those competing in the Kalos League. Unlike the games, this has shown to be stressful and tiring for Adrien and his Pokémon as they cannot stay in one area without being ambushed by trainers non-stop, to the point they had to hide from trainers looking for them due to being worn out from the constant battles.
** When Chloé threatens Kim and Max to forfeit the tag team match on account of revoking their Trainer license, Adrien comes to their aid by pointing out that she can't do it on whim. Doing so without good reason would cause trouble for the Pokémon community and her father, the current head of that community.
** Unlike the Pokémon games where a lone child protagonist takes down the resident criminal organization without additional consequences, the main protagonists in this story have to take on hero disguises to fight Team Akuma. The author points out that in real life, dangerous organizations would have plenty of powerful resources on hand and [[WouldHurtAChild would not be afraid to resort to abduction to get their way]]. Marinette and Adrien disguise themselves to avoid having Team Akuma trace them back to their loved ones and endanger them as a result.
** During her Gym battle for the Rumble badge, despite the type advantage Marinette's Togepi has over Jalil's Mienfoo and the additional training, Togepi is still a baby and not an offensive type Pokémon, making her attacks not as effective as it should against the more experienced Mienfoo. Even Jalil points this out.
** In her first Showcase Performance, [[ShrinkingViolet Juleka]] dresses her Mime Jr. in a ''very'' eye-catching outfit in hopes it would draw more attention to them. [[GoneHorriblyRight It works a little too well]] and she also catches the bemused and astounded expression of the audience. Being self-conscious and unused to people paying attention to her caused her to lose concentration, affecting her movement on the runway since she [[DidntThinkThisThrough didn't know what happen when she does grab attention]] and losing in the early round.
** Alya arranged an event for Marinette and Adrien so that Marinette would forgive her [[spoiler: when she tells her that she has to part ways with Marinette because of her internship acceptance]]. Instead, Marinette gets understandably upset at Alya for not telling her this news sooner, choosing to hold it off until the last minute and her poor timing to tell her doesn't help. This leads to an argument between Marinette and Alya and she ends up hurting Marinette more. [[spoiler: Thankfully both were able to reconcile before Alya left for her internship]].
** During her battle with Alya in Chapter 30, Marinette's [[spoiler: Feebas]] [[InstantExpert instantly learns]] Ice Beam from just [[AwesomenessByAnalysis observing]] Alya's Amaura using Aurora Beam. Instantly learning a new move doesn't guarantee complete mastery over the new skill and [[spoiler: Feebas still loses to Amaura]].
*** In fact, [[spoiler: Marinette's Feebas had great difficulty in mastering Ice Beam and it took her 15 chapters to finally be able to perform Ice Beam properly, though she had help from Marinette's great-grand uncle]].
** Sabrina is at lost on what to do [[spoiler: since she lost contact with Chloé after the latter's loss to Marinette]]. Since she has always depended on Chloé to an unhealthy degree and attended to her every need, she has no idea on what she wants without any guidance.
** Since Lady Ledian and Liepard Noir's costumes aren't magically enhanced like in the original show, they are not immune to the risks of injuries during their fights, as shown when Liepard Noir received a head injury.
** Marinette and Adrien's Kirlia were ChildhoodFriends since they were both Ralts and are Psychic-Type Pokémon. Naturally when the two were summoned by their trainers in their Super hero identities, it's revealed that they knew about the whole SecretIdentity business all along. The only reason why they don't tell their trainers this is because [[LeaningOnTheFourthWall it would ruin the whole plot]] [[WheresTheFunInThat and everyone's fun]].
** In Chapter 40, during the battle against the Team Akuma Admins, Liepard Noir deliberately has his Kirlia [[TakingTheBullet take the hits]] meant for Lady Ledian's Kirlia, particularly against Drapion's Night Slash. He does so to invoke a HeroicSecondWind by [[spoiler: giving his Kirlia a Dawn Stone to evolve him into Gallade]], but he fails to consider [[AngerBornOfWorry Lady Ledian's emotional response]] over his plan, [[SkewedPriorities having been more concerned in impressing her]] [[WhatTheHellHero than taking his job seriously]].
** Even though the Team Akuma grunts are [[UndyingLoyalty fanatically loyal]] to Poison Moth, ordering an attack on a large city without your boss' permission in a NebulousEvilOrganization has dire consequences. Not only does Poison Moth finds out about the attack he didn't issued quite easily, but swiftly dealt with the Team Akuma Admins who orchestrated the attack as punishment for their disobedience.
** Bottling up emotions would only work for so long before they eventually leak out at a bad time. From [[spoiler: dealing with his father's TheReasonYouSuckSpeech in public]] and [[spoiler: his best friend becoming BrainwashedAndCrazy]], Adrien, as Liepard Noir, [[spoiler: [[OOCIsSeriousBusiness becomes very serious and edgy]] to the point that both Lady Ledian and Bubbler X call him out on it]]. His anger disrupts his teamwork with Lady Ledian, only until [[spoiler: [[GetAHoldOfYourselfMan she slaps him out of it]] and becomes normal again]]. Doubles as FridgeBrilliance upon remembering that his alter ego represents his true unrestrained self.
** Alix is still understandably upset at Marinette for ditching her during Team Akuma's rampage back in Chapter 39 and doesn't easily accept Marinette's apology due being [[AngerBornOfWorry worried sick if something had happened to Marinette]] and breaking her promise after both girls swore that they'll look out for each other to [[PapaWolf Tom]]. [[spoiler: Alix does accept Marinette's apology after she kept her promise that she and Max return to Alix and Alya unharmed]].
*** In the same chapter, Alya's Amaura isn't used that often because she's only adaptable to cold climates and so far are no where near any cold environments at any point of the journey so far. In addition, the slightest change in weather would be uncomfortably warm for her and a danger to her health.
** Lila's accomplishments [[spoiler: which are either exaggerations of the truth or lies]] are easily exposed with just a simple internet search, especially when they concern major celebrities since there would be news articles about them. [[spoiler: As Alya can attest, there were none involving Lila]].
** The aftermath of the unauthorized Lumiose City attack result in many of Team Akuma Grunts captured and arrested, leaving Poison Moth with even less minions to carry out his dirty work. Minions are not dispensable and this is extremely detrimental to even a NebulousEvilOrganization. In addition, this handicap causes Poison Moth to use more extreme measures in dealing with the heroes as desperation to see his plan fulfilled.
** Having you or your Pokémon focus more on protecting your friends than yourselves will leave you defenseless to surprise attacks from the enemy. [[spoiler: This exactly what the Team Akuma Grunts were [[BatmanGambit counting on after seeing Liepard Noir coming to Lady Ledian's defense countless times]]]].
** Unlike in the main series, Marinette is understandably upset with Fu [[WhatTheHellHero for entrusting important artifacts to two young trainers and painting them as big red targets for Team Akuma. endangering them and the civilians]]. She only calms down and listens to Fu's story after he explains his reason for his actions to her.
** As it turns out, not everyone would think of continuing their journey is a viable choice after competing in a League Conference regardless if they win or not as Adrien initially thought. Some would experience the [[DesperatelyLookingForAPurposeInLife hardships of having their dreams unfulfilled]] while [[AndThenWhat others don't know what to do next after the League Conference]], losing the passion they once had. [[spoiler: Luka has experienced this disillusionment with his own career after he competed in a League Conference prior to the story]].

** Alya mentions that [[Recap/MiraculousLadybugS01E13TheMime Mylene's father works in theatre]] in Chapter 55.

** Marinette wished that she and Adrien would become a BattleCouple like Ivan and Mylene. She sorta got her wish since both her and Adrien are Lady Ledian and Liepard Noir respectively except both don't know who the other is and the other is in love with either their civilian identity or alter-ego.

** Marinette's crush on Adrien was noted by Mylene and Ivan in Chapter 18. [[LampshadeHanging Lampshaded]] by Alya in the same chapter. Even Lila noticed it during Marinette's battle against Chloé.

** Marinette suffers a brief and minor one in the Parfum Palace tag battle during the first round, wherein she is eliminated first and Adrien had to fight off [[OfficialCouple Ivan and Mylene]] on his own. Despite being able to move on to the next round, Marinette felt humiliated for holding Adrien back and ran off before Adrien found her and snapped her out of it.

** In Chapter 11 during Marinette and Adrien's tag team battle against Ivan and Mylene, Ivan with Mylene's Flabebe using [[WhipItGood Vine Whip]] on Adrien's Litleo along with being affected by Attract seems to [[CasualKink enjoy]] getting whipped, especially on his rear end much to the audience's embarrassment.

** It seems whenever Adrien's Litleo/Pyroar is sent to battle, he ends up becoming infatuated with the opponent. Such opponents were Mylene's Flabebe [[spoiler: and Wayhem's Delcatty]].

It is treated more as a FusionFic in which the entire cast from Miraculous Ladybug is placed in the world of Pokemon. More specifically, the setting is centered upon the Kalos region, given that [[FantasyCounterpartCulture it is inspired by France]]. The story mainly focuses on Marinette Dupain-Cheng, as well as her friends and classmates recognizable from the main series, as they graduate out of an advanced school for Pokemon Trainers and engage in their respective journeys throughout Kalos to learn more about Pokemon and the world around them.

Of course, given that everything from Miraculous Ladybug is imported into the Pokemon world, that includes a familiar BigBad now in charge of his own [[NebulousEvilOrganization criminal organization]] and seeking the powers of creation and destruction through [[OlympusMons Xerneas and Yveltal]].

There's more at stake than preparing to [[ToBeAMaster take on the Pokemon League and challenge the Elite Four]] for our heroes.

* AcademyOfAdventure: Lumiose Trainer Academy, where the story first begins, though the characters are already graduating come first chapter without the excessive ceremonial pomp. This Trainer School is sponsored by the Pokemon League for aspiring Trainers in Kalos wanting additional knowledge, hands-on application, and education on training Pokemon after turning ten and graduating from the basic Pokemon Trainer School for further preparation for their [[ComingOfAgeStory future journeys]]. It comes at a cost of four years, meaning the graduates are around fourteen to fifteen years of age upon officially starting their journeys.

** Marinette briefly experiences this when she thought she lost track of Togepi's Pokemon Egg at the Battle Chateau.

** Lila is set up to be a more formidable rival for Marinette than Chloe, having traveled around longer and competed in a couple of League Conferences up to the present day. Though how well she actually did in the Conferences remains unanswered. [[spoiler: In Chapter 50 it's revealed that at the Johto Silver Conference, she only made the Top 128. After that, she managed to reach the Top 64 of the Hoenn Ever Grande Conference.]]

* BadGuyBar: [[spoiler: [[MeaningfulName Dustox Cafe]], as the counterpart to the Lysandre Cafe, first revealed at the end of Chapter 37. It is implied that this was how Team Akuma Grunts were able to sneak into Lumiose City from the inside for their citywide attack in Chapter 39]].
* TheBadGuyWins: At the end of Chapter 52, [[spoiler: Poison Moth has isolated Yveltal's energy signature from the Key Stone wavelength his agents obtained from Liepard Noir. It'll make finding Yveltal easier with Team Akuma's technology. The hunt for the Destruction Pokemon is now on]].
* BadassAdorable: Some of the character's Pokemon are cute as well as strong:

** Subverted in Chapter 54. [[spoiler: The ending of Chapter 53 made it look like the challenger that caught up to Adrien was Kagami as she made a brief appearance holding the door of the Anistar Cafe for Marinette and Alya. The challenger turns out to be Wayhem in the following chapter, but Kagami eventually joins in upon crossing paths with Adrien]].

** After Marinette's Togepi inflicted Jalil's Mega Lucario with Sweet Kiss, rendering his ace Pokemon confused, he allowed Tikki to attack his Mega Lucario [[spoiler: so that it would snap him out of his confused state without harming himself further and Tikki unwittingly left an opening for Mega Lucario to retaliate]].

* BearHug: Marinette gives one to Adrien while [[ItMakesSenseInContext riding a Rhyhorn with him]] when he brings up guilt over their bad first meeting over Chloe’s prank back in Lumiose Academy.

** [[spoiler: Mylene and her Shuppet]] manages to distract [[spoiler: the brainwashed Ivan and Rhyhorn]], allowing an opening for both Lady Ledian and Liepard Noir to [[spoiler: separate the brainwashed trainer from his Pokemon]]. By that point, this is the [[RuleOfThree third time]] someone has initiated a surprise rescue.

*** Alya is aided by [[spoiler: the Fennekin from Professor Damocles's lab]], who then takes out five of Team Akuma's Pokemon [[spoiler: and promptly evolves into Braixen from her subsequent victories]].
** In Chapter 49, [[spoiler: while it probably did it out of its own [[ItAmusedMe amusement]], the [[WildCard wild Rotom]] that Alya eventually captures saves the group from several punkish Trainers by electrocuting them before they could send out their Pokemon]].
* BirdsOfAFeather: The author notes that several Pokemon share similarities with their respective trainers.

** Chloe and her Snivy/Servine. She is as [[{{Jerkass}} snooty and haughty]] as her trainer and they get along well. [[DeconstructedTrope Deconstructed]] later when she evolved in Servine and has [[TookALevelInJerkass become so arrogant]] that she stops listening to her trainer's orders.
* BothSidesHaveAPoint: In Chapter 55, [[spoiler: During Marinette's rematch against Chloe with Tikki and Pollen, Chloe reveals Pollen's natural ability as a Vespiquen to command and control male Combees to aid their queen. Marinette points out it's no different from brainwashing, while Chloe argues that's just the natural order within the Vespiquen and Combee's society, different from humans']].

** As TheProtagonist, Marinette receives a ton of focus. Her issues in confidence and self-esteem stem from her overburdening herself by trying to [[ThePerfectionist live up to high expectations, even though no one else is putting heavy expectations on her]]. Whether it’s to not be seen as TheKlutz or to impress Adrien is unknown, but with the many friends she gained from her classmates and her own Pokemon, Marinette is becoming more self-confident the more she [[ArcWords believes in herself]]. Of course, there is still the matter of living up to Lady Ledian as herself, but she’s getting there slowly but surely.

The tranformations are bound by Key Stones. The human and Pokemon don't fuse physically [[spoiler: though constant physical contact seems to give the Pokemon extra power]], but somewhere on the mental and emotional level. [[spoiler: The maxed bond is forced and unnatural though, but Poison Moth plans on using them as additional firepower for Team Akuma in either luring out Lady Ledian and Liepard Noir for their special Key Stones or possibly luring out [[OlympusMons Xerneas and Yveltal]] due to the fact that what he's doing goes against the laws of nature]].
* FusionFic: The author attempted this to see what it would be like if the Miraculous characters lived in the Pokemon universe, such as what kind of Pokemon would they capture and what paths they would take in their journeys.

* GilliganCut: During the Tag-Team Semifinals, Chloe declares she would win the "useless battle" against Kim and Max. Cut to [[EpicFail Chloe's Meowth and Sabrina's Bulbasaur defeated in a short amount of time]].

** In Chapter 36, Nino prevents other Trainers from pestering Adrien for Pokemon battles by battling them himself while having his Pokemon block the exits unless they agree to leave Adrien alone until he leaves Lumiose City.

* GoshDangItToHeck: Despite having a T rating, cursing has mostly been averted by using Pokemon names as substitutes, such as using Arceus for God and Muk for... well, the PrecisionFStrike. Prominent with Alya, who is said to have unfiltered vocabulary by Marinette.
* GratuitousFrench: Alec Cataldi, the host of the Pokemon Showcases tends to dabble in these.

* HauntedHouse: The scary house. Similar to VideoGame/PokemonXAndY and the anime counterpart, there is an older gentleman that shares the tale of the faceless men horde. [[spoiler: But the author incorporates a bit of the more hardcore haunted effects from the Pokemon Generations episode, ''The Old Chateau'', by having Marinette and Alya being subjected to a variety of strong illusions. One reviewer offered that the scary house is home to Gengar with a serious sense in showmanship, using Hypnosis and Nightmare to scare visitors without seriously harming them. However, the whole situation regarding the scary house's powers is ultimately left up to interpretation]].

** In Chapter 32, Xavier's Pidgeot was so shaken up by the one-sided Sky Battle despite the benefits of Mega Evolution that [[spoiler: it left both trainer and Pokemon vulnerable to Team Akuma's ambush and brainwashing]].

** The only Pokemon that are considered to have nicknames are the ones based off of the Kwamis.

** The [[{{Jerkass}} Trainer]] that [[CurbstompBattle curbstomped]] [[spoiler: Xavier Ramier, who winds up as Team Akuma's next Bond Hybrid]] is seen rushing through the Lumiose Badlands to the Pokemon Center at the end of Chapter 33 due to his Eelektross needing immediate help. [[spoiler: As it turns out, Mr. Pidgeot ran into him along the way to the Kalos Power Plant and returned the favor with Mega Pidgeot's enhanced power]].

** In the same chapter after the introduction to Adrien's newly caught Cubone, Marinette's Togepi hatching from her egg and Alya's newly resurrected Amaura, Nino comments that back in the day they battled Pokemon until weakened to capture them with Adrien replying good-heartedly that this isn't a typical game.

* LemonyNarrator: The narration occasionally slips into [[DeadpanSnarker deadpan-snarking]], [[LampshadeHanging lampshade hanging]] and sometimes will [[NoFourthWall break the fourth wall]] and even shamelessly spouting [[PungeonMaster Pokemon puns]] in the story's proceeding.

** [[DeconstructedTrope Deconstructed]] and [[AvertedTrope averted]] by Marinette herself near the end of Chapter 46 in dealing with her [[spoiler: brief attraction to Luka by comparing it to her feelings for Adrien. While Luka has proven to be a NiceGuy and is handsome, Marinette realizes that the immediate attraction to him didn't last long. In Adrien's case, it wasn't immediate, just like the main series. It took Adrien [[BecauseYouWereNiceToMe showing that he was not like Chloe]] that [[SingleWomanSeeksGoodMan Marinette]] did fall in love with him]]. Compared to [[spoiler: Luka]], Marinette justified her feelings for Adrien that she took time to know him better. Alya was impressed over [[CharacterDevelopment her mature outlook]] on this.

** The title of the story itself is a combination of elements between Miraculous Ladybug and Pokemon.
** It should be obvious that Marinette and Adrien's hero names are combinations between their superhero names from the main series and the evolved forms of their main Pokemon, Ledian and Liepard. On a similar note, Poison Moth comes from Venomoth's (and Dustox's coincidentally) classification: the ''Poison Moth Pokemon''.

** Chloe's father, aside from being in a high leadership position, also apparently owns Lumiose City's Hotel Richissime.

** After the pathway between Shalour coastline and the Tower of Mastery opened up, Alya asked Alix whether a Flying Pokemon or hot air balloons shaped like a Meowth's head would suffice in travelling to the tower without a boat.
** In Chapter 26, Alya mentioned the guardian Pokemon in Alola Tapu Lele.

* NeverSayGoodbye: Invoked nonfatally by Marinette [[spoiler: in Chapter 30, telling Alya not to call their upcoming battle their "final battle," but rather "the last battle they'll have until they reunite." They do get back together once Alya catches Marinette in the Lumiose City Pokemon Center in Chapter 34 and they begin traveling together again by the end of Chapter 43. However, Alya will leave Marinette time to time to meet with her superiors in Lumiose Press]].

** When Adrien meets up with Alya, Marinette and Nino and had his head bandaged up [[spoiler: due to receiving it as Liepard Noir during the battle against Mr. Pidgeot]], he starts panicking internally when Alya soon noticed the similarities of his head injury with Liepard Noir's along with having the same type of Pokemon as the hero.... [[spoiler: [[BaitAndSwitchComment concluding that he and Liepard Noir share similar tastes in Pokemon]]. Naturally, Adrien is relief of this conclusion]].

* OneSteveLimit: The author has confirmed that no two characters would have the same Pokemon as to showcase a variety of them, unless they have branching evolutions.

** Unlike the main series where their costumes were produced by magic, Marinette and Adrien had to acquire their superhero costumes on their own and find opportunities to change without others finding out. But given that this is the [[JustifiedTrope Pokemon universe]], no one can really tell it’s them under the masks. They make Team Rocket proud.

* PoorCommunicationKills: Downplayed, but was said to be the obstacle between Marinette and [[spoiler: Feebas]] in Chapter 45, with Marinette not listening to her Pokemon outside of training. [[spoiler: With Ice Beam mastered thanks to Wang's help, Marinette and Feebas both agree to get stronger together and decide a time when Feebas feels truly ready to evolve into Milotic]].
* PowerOfFriendship: An essential factor between a trainer and their Pokemon, especially when a strong bond is important in Mega Evolution. In addition, certain Pokemon evolved through maxed friendship with their trainers [[spoiler: like when Marinette's Togepi evolved into Togetic in Chapter 34 and her Swadloon evolving into Leavanny in Chapter 46]].
* PowerOfTrust: It plays an important role between a trainer and their Pokemon as a trainer has to rely on their Pokemon's abilities and a Pokemon must have faith in their trainer's orders in order to pull off risky tactics.

** Like in the game, Adrien is constantly challenged by various trainers to Pokemon battles during his journey due to his father's issuing a challenge to those competing in the Kalos League. Unlike the games, this has shown to be stressful and tiring for Adrien and his Pokemon as they cannot stay in one area without being ambushed by trainers non-stop, to the point they had to hide from trainers looking for them due to being worn out from the constant battles.
** When Chloe threatens Kim and Max to forfeit the tag team match on account of revoking their Trainer license, Adrien comes to their aid by pointing out that she can't do it on whim. Doing so without good reason would cause trouble for the Pokemon community and her father, the current head of that community.
** Unlike the Pokemon games where a lone child protagonist takes down the resident criminal organization without additional consequences, the main protagonists in this story have to take on hero disguises to fight Team Akuma. The author points out that in real life, dangerous organizations would have plenty of powerful resources on hand and [[WouldHurtAChild would not be afraid to resort to abduction to get their way]]. Marinette and Adrien disguise themselves to avoid having Team Akuma trace them back to their loved ones and endanger them as a result.
** During her Gym battle for the Rumble badge, despite the type advantage Marinette's Togepi has over Jalil's Mienfoo and the additional training, Togepi is still a baby and not an offensive type Pokemon, making her attacks not as effective as it should against the more experienced Mienfoo. Even Jalil points this out.

** Sabrina is at lost on what to do [[spoiler: since she lost contact with Chloe after the latter's loss to Marinette]]. Since she has always depended on Chloe to an unhealthy degree and attended to her every need, she has no idea on what she wants without any guidance.

** Marinette and Adrien's Kirlia were ChildhoodFriends since they were both Ralts and are Psychic-Type Pokemon. Naturally when the two were summoned by their trainers in their Super hero identities, it's revealed that they knew about the whole SecretIdentity business all along. The only reason why they don't tell their trainers this is because [[LeaningOnTheFourthWall it would ruin the whole plot]] [[WheresTheFunInThat and everyone's fun]].

** Having you or your Pokemon focus more on protecting your friends than yourselves will leave you defenseless to surprise attacks from the enemy. [[spoiler: This exactly what the Team Akuma Grunts were [[BatmanGambit counting on after seeing Liepard Noir coming to Lady Ledian's defense countless times]]]].

** Chloe typically serves as one towards Marinette, but Lila is said to be a more competent one.

* ShoutOut: This fic has given plenty of them towards most of the Pokemon anime episodes in addition to reusing elements from Miraculous Ladybug. However, there are a few other pop culture references scattered about. [[ShoutOut/ToBeAMiraculousMaster Now with its own Shout-Out page]].
* ShownTheirWork: If one takes the time to analyze the mechanics, story, and logic implemented from the Pokemon X and Y games into the story, mostly averting GameplayAndStorySegregation. This includes estimating when Pokemon that evolve by leveling up relative to the strength of opponents a PlayerCharacter encounters while moving through the story, locations where certain wild Pokemon can be found, and minor references mentioned at certain locations (i.e.: mention of Mawile in Shabboneau Castle where the player can get a Mawilite).

* SomethingWeForgot: Chapter 36 is about Marinette, Alya, and Adrien babysitting Manon. Nino was supposed to join them, but Adrien mentioned that he [[GoThroughMe was holding back other Trainers that wanted to challenge him [Adrien] to Pokemon battles]]. By the end of the chapter, [[spoiler: after finding Manon due to her wandering off,]] Alya claims that she felt that they forgot about something. Cut to Nino, who's still stuck in the Pokemon Center and trying to keep other Trainers from pestering Adrien.

* SurpriseCreepy: As with both series, it starts off as a crossover story about Marinette and Adrien going off on their Pokemon journey along with their classmates after they've graduated Lumiose City Academy, exploring the Kalos region and it's rich history and meeting new people along the way. Things slowly change with the appearance of Team Akuma and bits of Kalos' dark history soon unravel. [[spoiler: Marinette and Adrien learn the truth about the three-thousand year old war from Master Fu. Specifically, how Fu was alive during the war and witnessed his king built a machine that's the equivalent to a nuke and set it off, destroying virtually everything in order to end the war]].

* ToBeAMaster: Played with by the title itself. Averted by both Marinette and Adrien. Marinette doesn't really care about being the best Pokemon Trainer with her main passion being a [[TheFashionista Pokemon fashion designer]]. Adrien is training to be the best [[WellDoneSonGuy out of his father's wishes]].
** Marinette and Chloe's primary reason for taking the Pokemon League Challenge is because it allows them to keep interacting with Adrien. They actually have no plans on trying to become champion.
* TragicKeepsake: [[spoiler: Nooroo the Elegant Pattern Vivillon, who's currently under Poison Moth's ownership, is hinted to have been a Pokemon that once belonged to Adrien's mom]].

** Adrien's motive to training hard to win the Kalos League and challenge the Elite Four, given that his father is the Champion. In Chapter 41, [[spoiler: this bites him back during the exhibition match against his father. Adrien took pleasing Gabriel as top priority during the battle that he was out of sync with his Mega Gallade, resulting him unable fully use the new abilities and potential of his Pokemon's Mega Evolved Form]].

** Chapter 55, [[spoiler: [[TheBusCameBack Chloe makes her big return]] by challenging Marinette and winning her rematch fight. The loss results in Marinette letting her Togetic decide if [[WithGreatPowerComesGreatResponsibility she wants to evolve into Togekiss]]. Meanwhile, Adrien meets Master Fu, being the first of the two to meet him in person]].

** Both Marinette and Adrien are reminded of this during their low points or a critical moment in battle, as they have they have their friends and Pokemonch with them to accompany them on their journey.

As a result, Fu and Wayazz were cursed with eternal life instead while the king grew till old age, dying as a broken man]].

It is treated more as a FusionFic in which the entire cast from Miraculous Ladybug is placed in the world of Pokémon. More specifically, the setting is centered upon the Kalos region, given that [[FantasyCounterpartCulture it is inspired by France]]. The story mainly focuses on Marinette Dupain-Cheng, as well as her friends and classmates recognizable from the main series, as they graduate out of an advanced school for Pokémon Trainers and engage in their respective journeys throughout Kalos to learn more about Pokémon and the world around them.

Of course, given that everything from Miraculous Ladybug is imported into the Pokémon world, that includes a familiar BigBad now in charge of his own [[NebulousEvilOrganization criminal organization]] and seeking the powers of creation and destruction through [[OlympusMons Xerneas and Yveltal]].

There's more at stake than preparing to [[ToBeAMaster take on the Pokémon League and challenge the Elite Four]] for our heroes.

* AcademyOfAdventure: Lumiose Trainer Academy, where the story first begins, though the characters are already graduating come first chapter without the excessive ceremonial pomp. This Trainer School is sponsored by the Pokémon League for aspiring Trainers in Kalos wanting additional knowledge, hands-on application, and education on training Pokémon after turning ten and graduating from the basic Pokémon Trainer School for further preparation for their [[ComingOfAgeStory future journeys]]. It comes at a cost of four years, meaning the graduates are around fourteen to fifteen years of age upon officially starting their journeys.

** Marinette briefly experiences this when she thought she lost track of Togepi's Pokémon Egg at the Battle Chateau.

** Lila is set up to be a more formidable rival for Marinette than Chloé, having traveled around longer and competed in a couple of League Conferences up to the present day. Though how well she actually did in the Conferences remains unanswered. [[spoiler: In Chapter 50 it's revealed that at the Johto Silver Conference, she only made the Top 128. After that, she managed to reach the Top 64 of the Hoenn Ever Grande Conference.]]

* BadGuyBar: [[spoiler: [[MeaningfulName Dustox Café]], as the counterpart to the Lysandre Café, first revealed at the end of Chapter 37. It is implied that this was how Team Akuma Grunts were able to sneak into Lumiose City from the inside for their citywide attack in Chapter 39]].

* BearHug: Marinette gives one to Adrien while [[ItMakesSenseInContext riding a Rhyhorn with him]] when he brings up guilt over their bad first meeting over Chloé’s prank back in Lumiose Academy.

** As TheProtagonist, Marinette receives a ton of focus. ** The title of the story itself is a combination of elements between Miraculous Ladybug and Pokémon.

They do get back together once Alya catches Marinette in the Lumiose City Pokémon Center in Chapter 34 and they begin traveling together again by the end of Chapter 43. However, Alya will leave Marinette time to time to meet with her superiors in Lumiose Press]].

** When Adrien meets up with Alya, Marinette and Nino and had his head bandaged up [[spoiler: due to receiving it as Liepard Noir during the battle against Mr. Pidgeot]], he starts panicking internally when Alya soon noticed the similarities of his head injury with Liepard Noir's along with having the same type of Pokémon as the hero.... * OneSteveLimit: The author has confirmed that no two characters would have the same Pokémon as to showcase a variety of them, unless they have branching evolutions.

* PoorCommunicationKills: Downplayed, but was said to be the obstacle between Marinette and [[spoiler: Feebas]] in Chapter 45, with Marinette not listening to her Pokémon outside of training. [[spoiler: With Ice Beam mastered thanks to Wang's help, Marinette and Feebas both agree to get stronger together and decide a time when Feebas feels truly ready to evolve into Milotic]].
* PowerOfFriendship: An essential factor between a trainer and their Pokémon, especially when a strong bond is important in Mega Evolution. In addition, certain Pokémon evolved through maxed friendship with their trainers [[spoiler: like when Marinette's Togepi evolved into Togetic in Chapter 34 and her Swadloon evolving into Leavanny in Chapter 46]].
* PowerOfTrust: It plays an important role between a trainer and their Pokémons as a trainer has to rely on their Pokémon's abilities and a Pokémon must have faith in their trainer's orders in order to pull off risky tactics.

* PyrrhicVictory: [[spoiler: In Chapter 52, Lady Ledian and Liepard Noir, with the help of Delphox Rouge, managed to calm and heal the Abomasnow that Team Akuma brainwashed, and arrested the Grunts who were involved in the operation. However, Poison Moth got what he sought through the data collected from Liepard Noir's Key Stone; Yveltal's energy pattern and is now able to find the embodiment of death easily]].

** Like in the game, Adrien is constantly challenged by various trainers to Pokémon battles during his journey due to his father's issuing a challenge to those competing in the Kalos League. Unlike the games, this has shown to be stressful and tiring for Adrien and his Pokémon as they cannot stay in one area without being ambushed by trainers non-stop, to the point they had to hide from trainers looking for them due to being worn out from the constant battles.
** When Chloé threatens Kim and Max to forfeit the tag team match on account of revoking their Trainer license, Adrien comes to their aid by pointing out that she can't do it on whim. Doing so without good reason would cause trouble for the Pokémon community and her father, the current head of that community.
** Unlike the Pokémon games where a lone child protagonist takes down the resident criminal organization without additional consequences, the main protagonists in this story have to take on hero disguises to fight Team Akuma. The author points out that in real life, dangerous organizations would have plenty of powerful resources on hand and [[WouldHurtAChild would not be afraid to resort to abduction to get their way]]. Marinette and Adrien disguise themselves to avoid having Team Akuma trace them back to their loved ones and endanger them as a result.
** During her Gym battle for the Rumble badge, despite the type advantage Marinette's Togepi has over Jalil's Mienfoo and the additional training, Togepi is still a baby and not an offensive type Pokémon, making her attacks not as effective as it should against the more experienced Mienfoo. Even Jalil points this out.

** Sabrina is at lost on what to do [[spoiler: since she lost contact with Chloé after the latter's loss to Marinette]]. Since she has always depended on Chloé to an unhealthy degree and attended to her every need, she has no idea on what she wants without any guidance.

** Marinette and Adrien's Kirlia were ChildhoodFriends since they were both Ralts and are Psychic-Type Pokémon. Naturally when the two were summoned by their trainers in their Super hero identities, it's revealed that they knew about the whole SecretIdentity business all along. The only reason why they don't tell their trainers this is because [[LeaningOnTheFourthWall it would ruin the whole plot]] [[WheresTheFunInThat and everyone's fun]].

** Having you or your Pokémon focus more on protecting your friends than yourselves will leave you defenseless to surprise attacks from the enemy. [[spoiler: This exactly what the Team Akuma Grunts were [[BatmanGambit counting on after seeing Liepard Noir coming to Lady Ledian's defense countless times]]]].
** Unlike in the main series, Marinette is understandably upset with Fu [[WhatTheHellHero for entrusting important artifacts to two young trainers and painting them as big red targets for Team Akuma; endangering them and the civilians]]. She only calms down and listens to Fu's story after he explains his reason for his actions to her

** Chloé typically serves as one towards Marinette, but Lila is said to be a more competent one.

** It seems whenever Adrien's Litleo/Pyroar is sent to battle, he ends up becoming infatuated with the opponent. Such opponents were Mylène's Flabébé [[spoiler: and Wayhem's Delcatty]].

* ShoutOut: This fic has given plenty of them towards most of the Pokémon anime episodes in addition to reusing elements from Miraculous Ladybug. However, there are a few other pop culture references scattered about. [[ShoutOut/ToBeAMiraculousMaster Now with its own Shout-Out page]].
* ShownTheirWork: If one takes the time to analyze the mechanics, story, and logic implemented from the Pokémon X & Y games into the story, mostly averting GameplayAndStorySegregation. This includes estimating when Pokémon that evolve by leveling up relative to the strength of opponents a PlayerCharacter encounters while moving through the story, locations where certain wild Pokémon can be found, and minor references mentioned at certain locations (i.e.: mention of Mawile in Shabboneau Castle where the player can get a Mawilite).

* SomethingWeForgot: Chapter 36 is about Marinette, Alya, and Adrien babysitting Manon. Nino was supposed to join them, but Adrien mentioned that he [[GoThroughMe was holding back other Trainers that wanted to challenge him [Adrien] to Pokémon battles]]. By the end of the chapter, [[spoiler: after finding Manon due to her wandering off,]] Alya claims that she felt that they forgot about something. Cut to Nino, who's still stuck in the Pokémon Center and trying to keep other Trainers from pestering Adrien.

* SurpriseCreepy: As with both series, it starts off as a crossover story about Marinette and Adrien going off on their Pokémon journey along with their classmates after they've graduated Lumiose City Academy, exploring the Kalos region and it's rich history and meeting new people along the way. Things slowly change with the appearance of Team Akuma and bits of Kalos' dark history soon unravel. [[spoiler: Marinette and Adrien learn the truth about the three-thousand year old war from Master Fu. Specifically, how Fu was alive during the war and witnessed his king built a machine that's the equivalent to a nuke and set it off, destroying virtually everything in order to end the war]].

* ToBeAMaster: Played with by the title itself. Averted by both Marinette and Adrien. Marinette doesn't really care about being the best Pokémon Trainer with her main passion being a [[TheFashionista Pokémon fashion designer]]. Adrien is training to be the best [[WellDoneSonGuy out of his father's wishes]].
** Marinette and Chloé's primary reason for taking the Pokémon League Challenge is because it allows them to keep interacting with Adrien. They actually have no plans on trying to become champion.

If it works, [[spoiler: which it did,]] then Liepard Noir would have more options in attacking back [[spoiler: especially since the [[BattleBoomerang Bonemerang]] separated Mr. Pidgeot from his Pokémon by knocking him off of Mega Pidgeot's back. It is unknown if it would've affected Mega Pidgeot because of his No Guard Ability, but [[BoomerangComeback it did strike Mr. Pidgeot in the face on the rebound]]. At least Liepard Noir wouldn't have to hold back with the human separated from his Pokémon]]. If it didn't, at least Liepard Noir bought time for Lady Ledian to enact her plan.

** Juleka receives one from a fellow competing Pokémon Performer when she loses at the Theme Performance in the Coumarine City Showcase in Chapter 28 as she was surprised on how many people voted for her. The results were a very close race.

** Both Marinette and Adrien are reminded of this during their low points or a critical moment in battle, as they have they have their friends and Pokémon with them to accompany them on their journey.

** Marinette briefly experiences this when she lost thought she lost track of Togepi's Pokémon Egg at the Battle Chateau.

** The reason why Alix still hasn't forgiven Marinette in Chapter 49 for ditching her during Team Akuma's rampage on Lumiose City back in Chapter 39. Although Marinette had a [[SecretIdentity good reason for it]], to Alix, she didn't know where her classmate ran off to in a middle of a terrorist attack and it was after both promised Marinette's father to look after each other. Marinette points out it's no different from brainwashing, while Chloé argues that's just the natural order within the Vespiquen and Combee's society; different from human's]].

*** Her dialogue during her battle with Marinette implies that she has gone through a litte off-screen. She points out that she has gone without her lavish lifestyle and walks everywhere. It garners no sympathy from Marinette, who points out that's what trainers are supposed to do anyway, but for someone like [[SpoiledBrat Chloé]] it's a big step.

** Adrien reveals to Marinette that his [[ClingyJealousGirl Cubone]] wacked Chloé in the shin when the two childhood friends reunited in Coumarine City and Chloé was getting a little to clingy for Adrien's taste.
