** The reason why Alix still hasn't forgiven Marinette in Chapter 49 for ditching her during Team Akuma's rampage on Lumiose City back in Chapter 39. Although Marinette had a [[SecretIdentity good reason for it]], to Alix, she didn't know where her classmate ran off to in a middle of a terrorist attack and it was after both promised Marinette's father to look after each other. [[spoiler: It is only after the fiasco with the wild Rotom in Chapter 49 and after Marinette kept her promise to rejoin her and Alya with Max unharmed does Alix forgive Marinette]].

* AttackAttackAttack: Team Akuma's plan against Lumiose City in Chapter 39 to lure out Lady Ledian and Liepard Noir. It's unique that unlike previous appearances, they're not relying on Bond Hybrids. [[spoiler: It is hinted that even Poison Moth might not be aware of this plan as it was organized by his underlings instead. Confirmed in Chapter 42, in which according to Poison Moth, the Admins that sanctioned the attack without his permission are facing punishment, [[NothingIsScarier though there is no indication on the type of fate that befell them]]]].

** When Marinette faces against Vincent's Vivillon in her first Gym battle with Tikki, [[spoiler: she hoped that his Vivillon would use Infestation, a bug attack move on Tikki so that it would activate Tikki's Special Ability Rattled which would enhance her speed when attacked by a bug or ghost move. The gambit paid off and ensured Marinette's victory]]. Even Vincent was impressed by this gambit.

** Marinette returned the favor after Mega Lucario covered the field in dust clouds and use his [[AuraVision aura senses]] to detect Tikki [[spoiler: now an evolved Ledian]]. Marinette [[spoiler: counted on this and had Tikki use Silver Wind to clear the dust when Mega Lucario was in a vulnerable position, finishing him off]].

* BearerOfBadNews: When the King's beloved Floette snuck off to finally join the war after being inspired by the Stripling's determination, the King and the Stripling made haste and tried to reach them in time. Before they can move however, a ninja with a Ninjask arrived with news. The ninja doesn't take pride in what he has to deliver to the king as he gives him an item: [[spoiler: a tiny box containing the remains of Floette's flower]].

* BigBrotherInstinct: In this portrayal, Luka cares very much for his younger sister, [[ShrinkingViolet Juleka]], and requested Marinette and Alya to watch over her [[spoiler: after the Gym battle in Chapter 46]] in his stead due to his new duties as [[spoiler: Laverre Gym Leader]].

** In Chapter 20, when the female Grunt of Team Akuma ordered her Croagunk to use Earthquake, which would risk caving in Adrien and Alya, [[spoiler: the Cubone who guided the two in Glittering Cave]] knocks the Croagunk out before it could land.

** Marinette and her Ralts/Kirlia, who is described to represent Marinette's growth as a character. When Ralts evolved into Kirlia, she soon develop feelings for Adrien's Kirlia and acts the way Marinette does around Adrien. She even acts similar to Lady Ledian around him, [[spoiler: reflected strongly when she evolved into Gardevoir]].
** Adrien and his own Ralts/Kirlia. Like with Marinette's, he represents Adrien's own growth. He has similar taste in humor as his trainer. Unlike Adrien however, he seems to be more aware to Marinette's Kirlia's feelings to him to an extent. He even acts similar to Liepard Noir when around his childhood friend, [[spoiler: which became more prominent when he evolved into Gallade]].

** In Chapter 16, Alya mused in the possibility of waking up [[HeavySleeper Marinette]] by telling her [[MrFanservice Adrien]] was [[WalkingShirtlessScene training without a shirt on]]. In the beginning of the next chapter, she does exactly that and it ''works''.

** Chapter 19 has Marinette and her friends (Adrien, Alya and Nino) being chased down by a horde of frenzy Woobats in Glittering Cave [[spoiler: whom were rudely awoken by a pair of Team Akuma grunts]]. Marinette experiences deja vu in Chapter 57 when fleeing from a horde of frenzy Noibats that she accidentally awoken with Tiki while venturing Terminus Cave [[spoiler: so she can meet Master Fu]].
* TheCameo: [[spoiler:The performer who wins the Couriway Town Showcase]] is a black haired girl with a Scraggy and a Croagunk named Mary. The author stated that it's a reference to Marnie (one of the rivals in ''Pokemon Sword and Shield'') whose Japanese name is Mary and has a Scraggy/Scrafty and a Croagunk/Toxicroak as part of her team.
* CelebrityLie: Averted with Lila, who is a minor celebrity herself [[BitchInSheepsClothing but still not as nice as she lets on]]. Sort of plays it straight in Chapter 47 by claiming she's close to Lady Ledian despite the fact there's no onscreen interaction between them beforehand, nor was it really mentioned that they knew each other. They do technically know each other, but as Marinette and Lila.
* CerebusSyndrome: As with both series, it starts off as a crossover story about Marinette and Adrien going off on their Pokémon journey along with their classmates after they've graduated Lumiose City Academy, exploring the Kalos region and its rich history and meeting new people along the way. Things slowly change with the appearance of Team Akuma and bits of Kalos' dark history soon unravel. [[spoiler: Marinette and Adrien learn the truth about the three-thousand year old war from Master Fu. Specifically, how Fu was alive during the war and witnessed his king built a machine that's the equivalent to a nuke and set it off, destroying virtually everything in order to end the war]].

** As the {{Deuteragonist}} and {{Friendly Rival|ry}}, Adrien is not under the spotlight as much, but with his given background as the son of the current Kalos Champion and living in his shadow as a result, it is expected that he should grow to become his own person instead of following what his father wants. It will be difficult with getting [[WellDoneSonGuy any sort of approval]] from [[ParentalNeglect Gabriel]].
** After being eliminated early on in the Coumarine Showcase, Juleka is left to wonder what more she needs to do once she is noticed. Her problem as TheQuietOne is that because she never has a lot of attention placed on her, she is confused on [[AndThenWhat what to do next]]. Her main goal now is to find out what kind of Kalos Queen she wants to be while competing alongside Rose, [[spoiler: who won the same Showcase]].
** Chloé is [[BreakTheHaughty due for one]] given that she's lost all her onscreen battles and is dealing with a disobedient starter Pokémon. It is especially important [[spoiler: considering that she is to become a Miraculous hero in season two of the main series]].
*** Her dialogue during her battle with Marinette implies that she has gone through a little off-screen. She points out that she has gone without her lavish lifestyle and walks everywhere. It garners no sympathy from Marinette, who points out that's what trainers are supposed to do anyway, but for someone like [[SpoiledBrat Chloé]] it's a big step.

** Chapter 33 ends with [[spoiler: Lady Ledian and Liepard Noir facing against Team Akuma in the Power Plant along with their new Bond Hybrid, Mr. Pidgeot]].

* ComingOfAgeStory: The Pokémon journey essentially functions as this for Marinette, Adrien and their classmates, as they follow their dreams and aspirations while learning more about themselves.

** Tikki is this to Marinette since she's her starter. Marinette confides to Tikki her secrets, doubts and emotional baggage, especially when they are about Adrien and her superhero activities.

** Similar to Tikki, Plagg acts like this to Adrien since he discusses his secrets and thoughts to him. Though, [[SilentSnarker Plagg]] is rarely helpful.
*** Nino and later Marinette are people who Adrien confides to whenever Plagg's not helpful, especially when revealing the stress from his father's expectation and the emotional turmoil that comes from his MissingMom and ParentalNeglect by his father.

** Xavier Ramier and his Mega Pidgeot were strongly outmatched in a Sky-Battle against the opponent's Eelektross in the beginning of Chapter 32. [[spoiler: Poison Moth used this opportunity to create his new Bond Hybrid and Mr. Pidgeot returns the favor to that same trainer]].

This is certainly not PlayedForLaughs as [[spoiler: Marinette]] watched the whole thing and is most likely hurt or worse as a result. And then there's still the victim, who already has eyes for someone else and would no doubt was saving himself for her alone.

** Marinette wished that she and Adrien would become a BattleCouple like Ivan and Mylène. She sorta got her wish since both her and Adrien are Lady Ledian and Liepard Noir respectively except both don't know who the other is and the other is in love with either their civilian identity or alter-ego.

** [[spoiler: Chapter 50 finally reveals Gabriel to be Poison Moth. He explicitly admits to Nathalie that he's been tough on Adrien in moving to new destinations so that he wouldn't be tangled in Team Akuma's business, not knowing that Adrien is part of the Kalos duo fighting his forces off]].
** Adrien remarks that he owns it to his father for teaching him not to abuse his authority, calling him "a strong abider of order". [[spoiler: Gabriel is Poison Moth, the leader of Team Akuma who intends to throw Kalos into chaos and disrupt the balance in order to draw out Xerneas and Yveltal for his plan]].

** Chloé attempts to show off to Adrien during the informal Parfum Palace Tag Tournament that she was going to win, except that she didn't and her match wounds up being described as the shortest one to date.

** In Chapter 36, Marinette goes CutenessProximity when she sees the Dedenne [[spoiler: that Manon befriended]], instantly holding him close to her face and declares she always wanted to nuzzle one. Cue Dedenne thinking she meant the attack [[ShockAndAwe Nuzzle]] and [[HarmlessElectrocution uses it on her]].
** A variant. Playing up to her true deceptive nature, Lila states how beautiful and deadly her Ninetales is to Marinette before they begin their battle in Chapter 38. [[spoiler: The Ninetales she sent out is actually [[MasterOfIllusion Zoroark using Illusion]], but of course, no one figures it out until next chapter.]] During the battle, Marinette rightfully questions the validity of Lila's claim on Ninetales not being what she appears, but Lila counters that she didn't lie about the aforementioned qualities of her Ninetales. [[LoopholeAbuse She simply didn't explicitly say that she was using Ninetales for their battle]].

* {{Expy}}: Aside from Kalos [[FantasyCounterpartCulture being based from France]], the author himself took the time to note strong similarities between the Miraculous Ladybug characters to Pokémon characters from both the games and the anime. * {{Fauxshadowing}}: With the mirror girl heavily implied to foreshadow [[spoiler: Kagami's arrival]], Marinette fears from seeing her in person that she would steal Adrien away [[spoiler: due to her personal horror show of watching fake Adrien embracing the mirror girl in the scary house]]. It appears that [[spoiler: Kagami]] has no obvious romantic interest in Adrien and [[ChallengeSeeker only wants to challenge him to test her mettle]]. However...

* ForWantOfANail: [[spoiler: In the game, AZ became immortal after being exposed by the ultimate machine as a side-effect from reviving his Floette. Here, the Stripling and his Turtwig, who's really a young Master Fu and Wayazz, pushed the king out the way in order to stop. As a result, Fu and Wayazz were cursed with eternal life instead while the king grew till old age, dying as a broken man]].
* ForcefulKiss: [[spoiler: Lila]] plants one on [[spoiler: Adrien]], who was caught off guard and was no doubt unwilling at the end of Chapter 47.

* FromBadToWorse: It was bad in Chapter 47 that Marinette loses to [[spoiler: Lila]] in a Pokémon battle with Adrien on the line. It got worse near the end [[spoiler: when Lila [[ForcefulKiss steals a kiss]] from Adrien with Marinette watching from behind a tree, who then [[DramaticDrop drops her phone]] out of shock]].
* FusionDance: [[InvokedTrope Invoked]]. Team Akuma's Bond Hybrids, wherein the brainwashed Trainer and Pokémon [[TransformationHorror share appearances and colors]], seem to be formed by invoking the Bond Phenomenon, which in the Pokémon anime demonstrates it through Ash and Greninja, through the use of Mega Evolution energy. The tranformations are bound by Key Stones. The human and Pokémon don't fuse physically [[spoiler: though constant physical contact seems to give the Pokémon extra power]], but somewhere on the mental and emotional level. [[spoiler: The maxed bond is forced and unnatural though, but Poison Moth plans on using them as additional firepower for Team Akuma in either luring out Lady Ledian and Liepard Noir for their special Key Stones or possibly luring out [[OlympusMons Xerneas and Yveltal]] due to the fact that what he's doing goes against the laws of nature]].

* HauntedHouse: The scary house. Similar to VideoGame/PokemonXAndY and the anime counterpart, there is an older gentleman that shares the tale of the faceless men horde. [[spoiler: But the author incorporates a bit of the more hardcore haunted effects from the Pokémon Generations episode, ''The Old Chateau'', by having Marinette and Alya being subjected to a variety of strong illusions. One reviewer offered that the scary house is home to Gengar with a serious sense in showmanship, using Hypnosis and Nightmare to scare visitors without seriously harming them. However, the whole situation regarding the scary house's powers is ultimately left up to interpretation]].

Liepard Noir's timely rescue and [[ShutUpHannibal shutting down their taunts]] helped her find the courage she needed to face them.

* {{Hypocrite}}: The [[{{Jerkass}} trainer]] who defeated Xavier and his Mega Pidgeot with his Eelektross proceeded to scoff and mock the older trainer for losing and disregarded his [[GracefulLoser acceptance of his loss]] as him just being mad at this humiliating defeat. Cut to the end at of Chapter 33, the trainer and his Eelektross were beaten by [[spoiler: Mr. Pidgeot and his Mega Pidgeot after they were turned into a Bond Hybrid]] and the trainer is shown to be a BIG SoreLoser.

** The only Pokémon that are considered to have nicknames are the ones based off of the Kwamis.

** Alya aims to be a top journalist for the Lumiose Press and uncover the mysteries and history of Kalos and Mega Evolution. She uploads these findings in her personal online Pokeblog, 'Catch'em All, Alya Cesaire! Findings of a Fabulous Trainer!' which updates on close friends and families on what she has found. It eventually becomes a communication hub for Lady Ledian and Liepard Noir to communicate with each other regarding to Team Akuma, Mega Evolution and the Key Stones. [[spoiler: She had to part ways with Marinette when her internship to Lumiose Press has been accepted, but after proving her dedication and great work to the head editor, she is allowed to travel with Marinette again to continue providing more findings]].

** Adrien reveals to Marinette that his [[ClingyJealousGirl Cubone]] whacked Chloé in the shin when the two childhood friends reunited in Coumarine City and Chloé was getting a little to clingy for Adrien's taste.

While Luka has proven to be a NiceGuy and is handsome, Marinette realizes that the immediate attraction to him didn't last long. In Adrien's case, it wasn't immediate, just like the main series. It took Adrien [[BecauseYouWereNiceToMe showing that he was not like Chloé]] that [[SingleWomanSeeksGoodMan Marinette]] did fall in love with him]]. Compared to [[spoiler: Luka]], Marinette justified her feelings for Adrien that she took time to know him better. Alya was impressed over [[CharacterDevelopment her mature outlook]] on this.

** Played straight between Marinette and Lila, becoming a love rival on top of regular rival, for Adrien.

** It should be obvious that Marinette and Adrien's hero names are combinations between their superhero names from the main series and the evolved forms of their main Pokémon, Ledian and Liepard. On a similar note, Poison Moth comes from Venomoth's (and Dustox's coincidentally) classification: the ''Poison Moth Pokémon''.

* NeverSayDie: Averted as unlike the two kid-friendly series this story is made up of, the word "death" and straightforward death threats are used. And considering that Yveltal, the embodiment of death and destruction, is involved, it's a given. This is prominent In Chapter 57 where the three-thousand year old Kalos war don't shy away from the harsh reality of the heavy death tolls in the war.

* NoodleIncident: In the beginning of Chapter 46, Alya mentions Marinette doing something particularly embarrassing in front of Adrien during his thirteenth birthday. Whatever it was, it involved [[PassionateSportsGirl Alix]] and [[CompetitionFreak Kim]] doing another contest right behind her.

* ObliviousToLove: Said to be an InformedAttribute of Adrien, but given his [[ParentalNeglect background]], it might be justified. However, it's still averted as he is still a ChickMagnet in-universe and is aware of his fans. Not to mention his own budding crush towards [[LovesMyAlterEgo Lady Ledian]].

** When Adrien meets up with Alya, Marinette and Nino and had his head bandaged up [[spoiler: due to receiving it as Liepard Noir during the battle against Mr. Pidgeot]], he starts panicking internally when Alya soon noticed the similarities of his head injury with Liepard Noir's along with having the same type of Pokémon as the hero.... [[spoiler: [[BaitAndSwitchComment concluding that he and Liepard Noir share similar tastes in Pokémon]]. Naturally, Adrien is relief of this conclusion]].
** In Chapter 35, Marinette basically had this reaction realizes that her upcoming Gym battle with Nadja for the Voltage Badge will be twice as difficult due to her [[ThisIsGonnaSuck disadvantage against Electric-types]].
** While watching Marinette's practice battle Alya for her upcoming Gym Battle against Nadja, Adrien had this when he [[spoiler: discovered Manon was no where to be seen, as she wandered off to follow a wild Dedenne]].

* OneSteveLimit: The author has confirmed that no two characters would have the same Pokémon as to showcase a variety of them, unless they have branching evolutions.

* OriginalCharacter: [[CuteAndPsycho Marge]] and [[BloodKnight Matthieu]], two powerful and loyal Team Akuma Admins that debuted in Chapter 62. They are based off [[VideoGame/PokemonRubyAndSapphire Courtney and Matt]] respectively, specifically their ''Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire'' incarnations, to show how obsessed Poison Moth is to reach his goals.

** Despite only protecting Sabrina due to her being the daughter of the Coumarine Gym Leader and head of the Kalos police force, [[AttentionWhore Lila]] still goes out of her way to protect her when the bespectacled girl went to her Kecleon's aid when it might expose her [[spoiler: Zoroark]] to the enemies' attacks.

** In Chapter 41, [[spoiler: Gabriel gives a scathing evaluation one to Adrien after winning the exhibition battle against him. The saddest part was that some points he made were [[JerkAssHasAPoint valid]] that Adrien couldn't argue against him]].
** In the same chapter, [[spoiler: Marinette gives one to a {{JerkAss}} trainer after he disses Adrien and thinks he can perform better than him]].
** In Chapter 42, [[spoiler: Gabriel also gave one to Nino when the latter attempted to reason with the older man regarding about Adrien's performance. It affected Nino so much that he began training recklessly, leaving him vulnerable to Team Akuma's ambush and Poison Moth's brainwashing]].

** Both Alix and Kim are fierce rivals to each other and their starters, Torchic and Mudkip respectively strongly enforces it.
** Anyone who isn't Adrien's classmates or friend are this to him since [[spoiler: his father made an announcement to all trainers to not hold back when facing him]]. He finally gets a significant rival in the form of [[spoiler: Kagami]] starting Chapter 46, but he [[UnknownRival is unaware of her existence]] for the moment.

* SinisterSurveillance: Poison Moth's Venomoth has a surveillance device attached to him that allows his master to observe what he's seeing far from his hidden location. [[spoiler: Chapter 50 reveals that Venomoth sometimes observes Adrien]]. Poison Moth uses this to search for potential victims to use as his Bond Hybrid. Moreover, Team Akuma Grunts serves as Poison Moth's eyes, ears and hands to carry out his plans.

** Chapter 61 features both Kim's return after a long absence offscreen, and Ondine's introduction to the story. Alya even complains that their interactions are almost like watching Marinette and Adrien again.

** Alya, being Marinette's best friend and self-proclaimed wingwoman, often encouraged Marinette to talk to Adrien more and tries to help her friend get closer to him.

* SomethingWeForgot: Chapter 36 is about Marinette, Alya, and Adrien babysitting Manon. Nino was supposed to join them, but Adrien mentioned that he [[GoThroughMe was holding back other Trainers that wanted to challenge him [Adrien] to Pokémon battles]]. By the end of the chapter, [[spoiler: after finding Manon due to her wandering off,]] Alya claims that she felt that they forgot about something. Cut to Nino, who's still stuck in the Pokémon Center and trying to keep other Trainers from pestering Adrien.

* TalkativeLoon: [[spoiler: In contrast when [[TheQuietOne Ivan and his Rhyhorn were brainwashed]],when Mr. Ramier and his Mega Pidgeot were brainwashed, he's quite the MotorMouth]]. [[LampshadeHanging Lampshaded]] by Liepard Noir.

* TitleDrop: The Miraculous Master in the story's title is dropped in Chapter 57 [[spoiler: as the name of Fu's group of Bond Phenomenon emissaries given to them by the three-thousand year old king]].

** Marinette and Chloé's primary reason for taking the Pokémon League Challenge is because it allows them to keep interacting with Adrien. They actually have no plans on trying to become champion.

** Adrien's motive to training hard to win the Kalos League and challenge the Elite Four, given that his father is the Champion. In Chapter 41, [[spoiler: this bites him back during the exhibition match against his father. Adrien took pleasing Gabriel as top priority during the battle that he was out of sync with his Mega Gallade, resulting him unable fully use the new abilities and potential of his Pokémon's Mega Evolved Form]].

** Chapter 52, [[spoiler: The heroes managed to defeat Team Akuma once again with the help of newcomer Delphox Rouge. Unbeknownst to them, the device used on Liepard Noir's Key Stone doesn't siphon energy, but sends the data back to Poison Moth for analysis. Poison Moth now has a lead on the whereabouts of Yveltal]].

** Juleka receives one from a fellow competing Pokémon Performer when she loses at the Theme Performance in the Coumarine City Showcase in Chapter 28 as she was surprised on how many people voted for her. The results were a very close race.
** Lady Ledian says this to about Adrien and indirectly to Liepard Noir after the latter made nonchalant comments about "that Agreste kid".

** Both Marinette and Adrien are reminded of this during their low points or a critical moment in battle, as they have they have their friends and Pokémon with them to accompany them on their journey.

** In Chapter 34, a Mother's Day themed chapter, [[spoiler: Adrien confides in Marinette about his MissingMom issue and the resulting ParentalNeglect issue from his father when she, Alya, and Nino talk about having fun with their families for the rest of the day. For Marinette, as a FashionDesigner, she knows the trick to slip out from one outfit within one half of a minute and into a new outfit the remaining half. For Adrien, he worked as his father's model before embarking on his journey, meaning he also knows the quick clothes-changing trick.

* NoodleIncident: In the beginning of Chapter 46, Alya mentions Marinette doing something particularly embarrassing in front of Adrien during his [[ThirteenIsUnlucky thirteenth birthday]]. ** The Lumiose Badlands is assigned as the thirteenth Kalos route and Adrien finds himself hiding from persisting Trainers in Chapter 31 who are after him [[spoiler: due to his father's message to all trainers to challenge him]]. Although a strong trainer, Adrien [[KnowWhenToFoldEm knows]] he and his team won't survive the relentless onslaught of Trainers.
** Invoked in Chapter 46 when Marinette mentioned [[NoodleIncident doing something embarrassing during Adrien's thirteenth birthday, somehow involving Kim and Alix in another one of their competitions]].
** [[spoiler: It is also where Team Akuma struck next since the Kalos Power Plant was in that direction]].

** In Chapter 11 during Marinette and Adrien's tag team battle against Ivan and Mylène, Ivan with Mylène's Flabebe using [[WhipItGood Vine Whip]] on Adrien's Litleo along with being affected by Attract seems to [[CasualKink enjoy]] getting whipped, especially on his rear end much to the audience's embarrassment.

Things slowly change with the appearance of Team Akuma and bits of Kalos' dark history soon unravel. [[spoiler: Marinette and Adrien learn the truth about the three-thousand year old war from Master Fu. Specifically, how Fu was alive during the war and witnessed his king built a machine that's the equivalent to a nuke and set it off, destroying virtually everything in order to end the war]].

* ArmorPiercingSlap: Lady Ledian delivers one to [[spoiler: Liepard Noir]] in Chapter 42 [[spoiler: [[GetAHoldOfYourselfMan to break him out of his aggression]] so that they could work together as a team again]].

* AdultFear:
** Marinette briefly experiences this when she thought she lost track of Togepi's Pokémon Egg at the Battle Chateau.
** [[NebulousEvilOrganization Team Akuma]] is willing to [[WouldHurtAChild ambush and attack new trainers]] and sees no problem in causing [[AnimalStampede a horde of Woobat to go on a frenzy rampage]] that would potentially cause serious harm to them. [[spoiler: Not to mention they kidnapped and brainwashed Ivan]].
** [[spoiler: When Manon goes missing due to chasing down a wild Dedenne]], one of the possibilities that Alya considered was that [[spoiler: Manon]] could be found by Team Akuma.
** The Lumiose Siege that occurred in Chapter 38-40 is essentially a terrorist attack on an unsuspecting populace where the trainers are separated from their families in the middle of the chaos. And with Chapter 50, this also applies to [[spoiler: Poison Moth himself, or his true identity, Gabriel Agreste. Not only did his minions organized an unauthorized attack on Lumiose City while he was away, but his [[EvenEvilHasLovedOnes son]] was in the city when said attack occurred]].
** Alya mentions in Chapter 55 that her sister, Nora, who stayed back in Alola, keeps on telling her to return to Alola for her own safety ever since she heard of Team Akuma's recent activities.
