* TheHero: Apple Bloom evolves into one over the course of the story [[spoiler: and is ultimately revealed to be [[TheChosenOne the one destined to defeat Queen!Twilight]]]].

* ArmorPiercingSlap: Apple Bloom gives one to [[spoiler: Sweetie Belle]] during her HeelRealization in order to help it stick this time.

* HeelRealization: [[spoiler: Sweetie Belle]] ''almost'' has one shortly after her FaceHeelTurn, but a poor choice of words on Rarity's part sends her running back to Queen!Twilight. She has one for real after the Battle of Fillydelphia, when [[spoiler: Rarity is almost killed in front of her, and Queen!Twilight abandons her]]. Though Apple Bloom had to [[ArmorPiercingSlap help it]] stick this time, and she stays in a state of shock for a few chapters before she eventually completes her HeelFaceTurn.

* InformedAttribute: We're told Vale shares a lot in common personality-wise with Rarity, yet we never see any of this, even [[spoiler:during Inner Demons II, when Vale is awake. Although given the All-Mother has been messing with her mind, this might be intentional.]]

* ATragedyOfImpulsiveness: Pretty much any of the actions that fall under NiceJobBreakingItHero is this.
* TrueLovesKiss: [[spoiler: How Spike ends up waking Rarity from her coma.]]

* {{Bishonen}}: Tracy, as the narration explicitly points out.
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: All the Sons of Midnight have the Power of the Queen, meaning they can do this to ponies.

* BadDreams: Twilight is plagued by them after reading the prophecy, right up until she's consumed by her inner darkness and turns on the others.

* WorldOfCardboardSpeech: [[spoiler: Princess Twilight]] gives a brief one at the end of the story to the assembled ponies of Ponyville, accepting what she's done and hoping to move on from it, and admitting that Ponyville is her home.
** Technically, ''The Last Letter'' is one long one from her.

** [[spoiler: Scootaloo also performs one after her failed Starscream attempt, a VillainousBSOD, and a NotSoDifferent speech from Rainbow Dash.]]

* NotSoDifferent: Inverted. [[spoiler: Rainbow Dash tries to talk Scootaloo into a HeelFaceTurn by explaining just how similar they are, and why because of that she'll never give up on her.]]

* VillainousBSOD: [[spoiler: After Scootaloo's attempt to betray Queen!Twilight just results in her being beaten, tortured, and dumped on the street like trash, she falls into a depression and seems to give up on everything. When Rainbow Dash tries to talk her out of it and into a HeelFaceTurn, she lashes out violently, until Rainbow Dash gives her a NotSoDifferent speech and leaves her. She eventually recovers and pulls a HeelFaceTurn.]]

* FightingFromTheInside: [[spoiler: Twilight is given the strentgh to do this when the Elements of Harmony on used on her, allowing her to reject the Darkness from her body.]]

* [[AGodAmI An Alicorn Am I]]: Not quite yet, but Queen!Twilight eventually realizes that in order to achieve full dominance over Equestria, she must shed her mortal form and become an alicorn. When [[spoiler: Scootaloo]] overhears this, she realizes she has to [[TheStarscream make her move]] before it happens, and then figure out how to do it herself.

* [[WhatMeasureIsANonHuman What Measure is A Non-Pony]]: As far as the Angels are concerned, [[spoiler:Rarity isn't really alive.]]

* BiggerBad: Katastroph, the King of Tartarus, Midnight's father. He briefly appears in a flashback, but in the modern day he's sealed away within Tartarus.

* CompellingVoice: One of the abilities that Queen!Twilight learns following her FaceHeelTurn is a very [[CodeGeass Geass-like]] spell that allows her to brainwash whoever she uses it on [[spoiler: including Princess Luna]].

* ShoutOut: As mentioned above, Queen!Twilight's [[CompellingVoice mind control spell]] is very similar to a [[CodeGeass Geass]]. In fact, her statement when shutting down Cadence's magic -- "Never use magic again!" -- is very similar to Lelouch's "Never speak again!" moment with Mao. Lezard even refers to this ability as "the Power of the Queen", and his explanation of how it works sounds very similar to the mechanics of Lelouch's Geass.

*** When Apple Bloom meets with [[spoiler: Trixie in the afterlife]], it plays out similar to a scene between Harry and [[spoiler: Dumbledore]] in ''[[Literature/HarryPotterAndTheDeathlyHallows The Deathly Hallows]]''.

* DangerouslyGenreSavvy: Despite believing herself to have already killed the other Element bearers, the first thing Queen!Twilight does after taking the throne and establishing her power base is to dispatch one of her lieutenants and a large number of {{Mooks}} to Ponyville to check to see if they survived.

** When Lezard brings up reincarnation and its implied EternalRecurrence, the phrase "[[Series/BattlestarGalacticaReimagined All this has has happened before, and all this may happen again]]" comes up.
