* MoralDissonance: Oh, so ''very much.'' All of the questionable (or downright heinous) acts committed by the "heroes" as presented in his fics are meant to be seen as reasonable and not at all a bad thing. He claims it's okay because "they're fictional characters", but even presenting such things is considered a bad mark on one's resume. He did this way more than once, for the record.

* RPGMechanicsVerse: Part of the main plot of ''Hatred'' reveals that the Digital World effectively has a functional form of experience points system and leveling. To some uninformed, it could be Mykan's typical tropes in action to some, except the idea of ''Digimon'' media having a near perpetual RPGMechanicsVerse in some given capacity or another has actually been part of the series since surprisingly early on than most tend to think, and the whole Survival of the Fittest mentality of the Digimon is actually part of what heavily reinforces this trope in canon works.

* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: Another Davis centric ''Digimon Adventure 02'' fic he wrote, known simply as "''Hatred''", subverts quite a few of the tropes usually associated with Mykan's works, including but not limited to ending the fic on a cliffhanger to avoid having to kill Davis as per his usual standard course of action, Kari and T.K. breaking up but the cliffhanger leaving things uncertain for her and everyone else, the fact Paildramon and Imperialdramon actually get to appear as opposed to Mykan either not bothering to or using an OC Ultimate or Mega Level in place of those two, and the BigBad of the fic being [[spoiler:a reborn [=MetalEtemon=], with the whole plot revolving around the idea of the Digital World being an RPGMechanicsVerse, which actually holds quite a bit of weight in official lore than one might think, and [=MetalEtemon=] still having his usual personality, and actually remembering the fact he can use Concert Crush to drain other Digimon of their power to fight, which is why instead of simply being given TheWorfEffect in the fic, everyone else sans Veemon simply had a case of WorfHadTheFlu, as [=MetalEtemon=] was simply using his new and improved Dark Network to drain everyone of their power. Also, despite going up against Imperialdramon Fighter Mode by the end of it, [=MetalEtemon=] is so heavily beefed up by the RPGMechanicsVerse he exploited for himself that [=MetalEtemon=]'s natural abilities such as his Chrome Digizoid body made him into a genuine SNKBoss compared to Mykan's other BigBad villains who couldn't remotely compare in this capacity.]]

* GenericDoomsdayVillain: Mykan's tendency to write [[FlatCharacter characters that rarely go above a single trait]] extends to many of his villains, whose one trait is "they're evil" and mainly exist to give the heroes something to fight. Any personality, backstory, and motivation they get is usually limited to "[[ForTheEvulz doing evil things because they can]] (e.g. Titan from ''Starfleet Magic'')" or "because [[AlwaysChaoticEvil that's what their species is like]] (e.g. the Insectos from ''Starfleet Magic'')".

* ItIsPronouncedTroPAY: On the subject of "[[Anime/DigimonAdventure02 Dakari]]", the {{Portmanteau Couple Name}}s go by the Japanese names for the characters (for example, Sorato, the canon pairing between Sora and Matt, uses the latter's Japanese name, Yamato). The couple name referring to Davis and Kari is actually ''Dai''kari due to Davis being called Daisuke in Japan, but Mykan prefers the English names so much that he removed the ''i'' from the name and pronounces it "Day-kari". While we're here, he also likes to pronounce "Takari" (TK and Kari) as "Tay-Kari" despite there being no basis for such (at least the former one can be excused by being based off of an English name).

* AppealToPity: Mykan's favored characters essentially have a license to be the biggest jerks possible and still get pity and sympathy from the story, just because they had a rough life and the world hates them (or so they think, anyway). Beast Boy and Davis (''especially'' Beast Boy) get this treatment pretty much all the time, as do most of the [=OCs=] from ''Friendship is Failure''.

* ''Series/Batman1966 (only the 60's Creator/AdamWest show)''

** In ''Brother of the CORPSE BRIDE'', the character Mykan shows off a dress he made for Queen Elizabeth the First, who lived from 1558-1603, yet earlier mentions that his parents died in a car accident; the very first car accident occurred in 1869.

* AdaptationalAngstUpgrade: Beast Boy and Davis, by the truckload. In Mykan's works, their entire purpose is to angst about how they DidNotGetTheGirl and use that as the justification for everything they do, to the point where [[UpToEleven they bear virtually no resemblance to their canon selves]].

* TheComplainerIsAlwaysWrong: Oftentimes, he'll make entire characters that hate the way his universes operate, [[ThisLoserIsYou just to paint them as losers or villains]]. {{Iron|y}}ically, [[EnsembleDarkhorse they end up becoming the most well-liked characters in his fics.]] Naturally, the exceptions are [[AuthorAvatar Beast Boy and Davis Motomiya]], who are portrayed as always right about whatever they're complaining about.

* [[DrunkOnMilk Drunk on Milkshakes]]: A recurring theme in his fanfics. Usually, this involves Beast Boy.

* SympathyForTheDevil: [[DownplayedTrope Downplayed.]] Though this is definitely the case for a few select villains in Mykan's works, the author himself doesn't truly feel this way about any of the villains.
