It's not clear whether Majesty Maiden and Dinomight Knight are the listed older monsters or not; they just simply take influence from the latter's respective archetypes, with their Dracoslayer forms looking more like a combination between them and each theme's Field Spell than anything.

Theme Deck is going to be cut as per this TRS thread.

* ThemeDeck: Invoked. The Amorphage archetype strongly discourages using non-Amorphage monsters, since their effects that hinder non-Amorphage cards affects their controller's cards. That said, it is viable to put a few Amorphage monsters in non-Amorphage decks as lockdown tools.

Misuses of Expy; an Expy must be based a character from a different work, and all these comparisons are within the same work of YGO.

* {{Expy}}: The Dracoslayers can be seen as one to the D/D and Odd-Eyes due to being an archetype of Pendulum Monsters that supports other summoning methods and have access to all three types of Extra Deck monsters. In addition, those Extra Deck monsters are FIRE, WATER, and WIND monsters.

* {{Expy}}:
** Like the Igknights before them, the Metalfoes are a group of Normal Pendulum Monsters whose Pendulum Effects let them destroy their own cards to add new ones from the deck.
** To a lesser extent, the Gem-Knights, as both archetypes feature non-Effect Monsters and make use of constant Fusion Summoning.
** Fullmetalfoe Alkahest can be seen as one of Thousand-Eyes Restrict. Both are level 1 Fusion monsters with 0 ATK/DEF as well as the ability to equip other monsters to themselves to increase their stats.

* {{Expy}}: The True Draco are similar to the Zefra in that they are an archetype tied to a specific storyline which features cards based after other archetypes from the same storyline and oppose a world-ending threat.

* {{Expy}}: The True Kings are Wyrm counterparts to the Dragon Rulers, being a group of high-level draconic monsters associated with elements with the ability to summon themselves in exchange for two cards. The value of their ATK and DEF also parallels those of the Dragon Rulers.

They are also connected to the '''[[http://yugipedia.com/wiki/Dracoverlord Dracoverlord]]''' archetype comprised of two Pendulum Monsters and a Ritual Monster. They have a connection to the Amorphage archetype.
----

* AmnesiacHero: Luster/Master Pendulum has no memories of who he was before becoming the Dracoslayer.
* ArchEnemy: The two archetypes are this to each other, reinforced by the artwork and effect of [[http://yugipedia.com/wiki/Draco_Face-Off Draco Face-Off]].

* FusionDance: Dinoster Powerful appears to be a fusion of Luster Pendulum and Dinomist Plesios, although you can use different monsters as material.
** While not a fusion monster, Amorphactor Psycho appears to be the result of Lector merging with Amorphage Goliath.
* HorseOfADifferentColor: Majester Paladin uses a winged Majespecter Unicorn as a mount.
* HunterOfTheirOwnKind: Master, Vector, and Lector are all Pendulum monsters, yet they have Pendulum Effects that nullify or destroy the opponent's Pendulum Cards.
* NighInvulnerable: Dinosaur Powerful prevents all Pendulum cards from being destroyed by battle or card effects.
* OurDragonsAreDifferent: Luster/Master Pendulum looks more like a human with dragon wings and tail than an actual dragon.

** Vector's Pendulum Effect nullifies the effects of the opponent's own Pendulum Cards if they are in the Pendulum Zones.
** Lector nullifies the effects of face-up Pendulum Monsters.
** Amorphactor Psycho negates the effects of all Fusion, Synchro, and Xyz Monsters.
* ScaledUp: Vector Pendulum is able to use Dragon Alchemy to turn other beings into dragons.

[[caption-width-right:300:[[Memes/{{RWBY}} They're also a gun.]]]]

'''[[http://yugipedia.com/wiki/Igknight Igknight]]''' monsters are an archetype of FIRE Warrior-Type monsters that, for the first time since the [[http://yugipedia.com/wiki/Gem-Knight Gem-Knights]], use an engine revolving around Normal Monsters. This time around, they are also Pendulum Monsters, and they exploit their Extra Deck retreat mechanics by destroying themselves for benefits.
----

* CoolGuns: All of the Igknights are modeled after one.
* DiscardAndDraw: The Pendulum Igknights all share the same Pendulum Effect, where if there are two Igknights in the player's Pendulum Zones, they can destroy both of these Igknight cards and then add another FIRE Warrior-Type monster from the Deck or Graveyard to their hand. It's hardly a detriment to them, since Pendulum Monsters go to the Extra Deck face-up when destroyed, and can be re-summoned via Pendulum Summoning.
* FamilyFriendlyFirearms: Averted — surprisingly enough for a franchise known for the trope; none of the card artworks were censored in the TCG despite a heavy resemblance to guns in their weapons and armor. This may be because their weapons were made to look and operate more like blades than actual firearms.
* GatlingGood: Igknight Avenger, as is only fitting for he is named after the GAU-8 Avenger. [[DubNameChange At least in the OCG.]]
* LoopholeAbuse: Prior to a ruling judgement that banned the loophole, the card-protecting effect of Number 66: Master Key Beetle (and others) was used to protect one of the Pendulum Igknights when using their Pendulum effects, letting the player search out another Igkight while only destroying one Pendulum Zone Igknight, setting up a loop of searching and Extra Deck setup that can then be unleashed all at once. The clarified rulings stated that both cards in your Pendulum Zones ''must'' be destroyed to use the searching effect, blocking off the combo.
* MixAndMatchWeapon: The Igknights all wield melee weapons that use guns as bases. Igknight Squire uses a short sword with a revolver grip, Igknight Lancer uses a Gatling gun with a lot of spears, and so on and so forth.
* RainbowMotif: The Igknight Pendulum Monsters are each colored in the colors of the rainbow. Margrave is red, Templar is orange, Squire is yellow, Gallant is green, Crusader is blue and Paladin is purple. Champion and Lancer are also colored yellow and orange. Of the Pendulum Monsters, the ones with high scales are the warmed colored ones and the ones with low scales have cool colors.
* RedOniBlueOni: Played with Cavalier and Veteran. Cavalier has a blue background, but is described to be reckless and often attacks her own troops. Veteran has a red background, but supervises her and gets annoyed with her recklessness.
* SummonMagic: "Ignition Phoenix" shows Squire, Crusader, Templar, and Paladin summoning Ignister Prominence, the True Dracoslayer.
* ThanatosGambit: Igknights Lancer and Champion can be summoned by destroying "Igknight" cards you control and the Igknights have self-destructive Pendulum effects to search out other Igknights. This is hardly a detriment, since Pendulum Monsters go to the Extra Deck instead of the Graveyard when destroyed, and can then be Pendulum Summoned from there. Their self-destruct effects not only accumulate advantage but also set you up for later plays.
* ThemeNaming: In the OCG, the theme was [[ArmsAndArmorThemeNaming guns]] (e.g. Derringer, Dragunov, Uzi). [[DubNameChange Their TCG names]] are instead derived from medieval military positions and other "knightly" terms (for instance, the aforementioned three become Cavalier, Templar, and Veteran respectively).
* ZergRush: The Pendulum Igknights aren't too strong for their Levels and they can be Pendulum Summoned to make up for their destruction. They can be easily used for Xyz Summons.

* EverythingsBetterWithDinosaurs: The Dinomists are Machine-Type monsters that resemble various dinosaurs.
* FusionDance: Although they can be summoned using other monsters, Dinostor Powerful appears to be a fusion of Luster Pendulum and Dinomist Plesios, as shown on the art of [[http://yugipedia.com/wiki/Dynamic_Powerload Dynamic Powerload]].
* MeaningfulName: The name Dinomist refer to both the appearance and the Attribute of the monsters. The name can also refer to "dynamis", the Greek word for "power".
* StatusAilment: Plesios' effect is to reduce the ATK and DEF of opposing monsters by 100 for each Dinomist card on your side of the field.

'''[[http://yugipedia.com/wiki/Majespecter Majespecters]]''' are an archetype of WIND Spellcaster-Type Pendulum Monsters. They combine their ability to come back from the Extra Deck with effects that adds other cards to the hand when normal or Special Summoned. This also works win conjunction with the archetype's Spell and Trap Cards which have the ability to get rid of opposing monsters but require your own monsters to be tributed.
----

* BlowYouAway: Not only are they WIND monsters, but tornadoes are featured in their artwork.
* HorseOfADifferentColor: Majispecter Unicorn serves as the mount for Majester Paladin the Rising Dracoslayer, gaining wings in the process.
* NoSell: The Majespecters cannot be targeted or destroyed by the opponent's card effects.
* WeakButSkilled: High ATK isn't the Majespecters' strong point with their strongest monster having only 2000 ATK, but between their immunity to targeting and the deck's abilities to add more cards to the hand and get rid of opposing monsters with Spell and Trap Cards, they shouldn't be underestimated.

The '''[[http://yugipedia.com/wiki/Amorphage Amorphage]]''' are a group of EARTH Dragon-Type Pendulum Monsters. Appearance-wise, the Amorphage monsters are animals being gruesomely transformed into dragons; they're lore-wise related to the Dracoslayer archetype. They focus on limiting the actions both players are able to make, but require a monster to be tributed while they are inside a Pendulum Zone.
----

* SevenDeadlySins: Their Japanese names are derived from the [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seven_deadly_sins#Origin_of_the_currently_recognized_Seven_Deadly_Sins eight evil thoughts]], precursors to the Seven Deadly Sins. Their English names, however, play this straight and are actually named after the Seven Deadly Sins, with Irritum's English name being derived from [[DavidVersusGoliath Goliath]].
* BearsAreBadNews: Amorphage Sloth is a mutated bear reaching the final stages of its transformation. As a result, it has higher attack, lower defense and a more powerful effect than the other Amorphages named after a sin.
* BodyHorror: The process of becoming an Amorphage involves dragonic body parts sprouting from your body. In almost every case, the victim retains characteristics of its previous self such as Wrath having its original head on top of its new one.
* DubNameChange: From the components of Eight Evil Thoughts to the Seven Deadly Sins and Goliath.
** Gastr to Gluttony.
** Lux to Lechery.
** Plest to Greed.
** Cavum to Envy.
** Olga to Wrath
** Hyper to Pride.
** Nortes to Sloth.
** Irritum to Goliath.
* EyesDoNotBelongThere: The monsters have a number of red eyes with slits for pupils throughout the mutated parts of their body.
* FliesEqualsEvil: Amorphage Gluttony is a mutated fly and has one of the more devastating effects of the Amorphages, as it nullifies monster effects.
* FusionDance: Amorphactor Pain, the Imagination Dracoverlord, is Lector Pendulum merged with Amorphage Goliath.
* GlassCannon: Lechery, Wrath, Pride, Sloth, and Goliath, which have decent ATK for their Level but 0 DEF.
* {{Irony}}: The deck's playstyle basically revolves around restricting both players from using any cards other than those belonging to the archetype. However, the Amorphages barely have any synergy amongst themselves, as the two best pendulum effects are tied to monsters who have the same scale (Gluttony and Lechery) and the two boss monsters can't even be pendulum summoned due to their levels being too high.
* MeaningfulName: The name of the archetype is comprised of the words "amorphous" and "phage". The first is derived from a Greek word meaning formless or deformed with the latter fitting the appearance of the monsters. And while "phage" is derived from the Greek, it is also used as a name for virus that parasites bacteria. Not only does this refers to how the monsters are created, but the rod-like objects seen on the monsters resemble the structure of a phage (specifically, a T4 bacteriophage).
* MysticalPlague: The virus that originated the Amorphages was created through Dragon Alchemy, which is implied to combine both biotechnological and magical techniques.
* MythologyGag: This archetype shares a few similarities with the Evilswarm, as both of their monsters are the result of creatures being changed by a virus and those monsters have an ATK or DEF score that ends with 50. Also, all Amorphage monsters possess either 0 ATK or 0 DEF and have boss monsters intended to be Tribute Summoned, similar to the Steelswarm.
* OurDragonsAreDifferent: Although they are a little bit... [[BodyHorror off]]. Amorphage Goliath, the boss of the archetype, is a straighter example, having the most resemblance to traditional dragons.
* OurDragonsAreDifferent: They were all once ordinary animals until being infected.
* PricklyHedgehog: Amorphage Greed used to be a simple hedgehog. It can be seen being infected in the artwork of "Amorphage Infection".
* SavageWolves: Amorphage Wrath is a mutated wolf and one of the main offensive monsters in the archetype.
* ScaryScorpions: Amorphage Lechery is a mutated scorpion. Its effect nullifies all magic cards except those related to the Amorphage archetype.
* StatusAilment: Amorphage Lysis causes any non-Amorphage monster to lose 100 ATK and DEF for every Amorphage card on the field.
* StatusBuff: Amorphage Infection lets all Amorphages gain 100 ATK and DEF for every Amorphage card on the field.
* StoneWall: Gluttony, Greed and Envy, which have great DEF stats, but 0 ATK.
* TragicMonster: They are all innocent animals transformed into draconic abominations to be used as bioweapons.
* ViralTransformation: How the Amorphage are made in the lore, courtesy of Vector Pendulum's Dragon Alchemy.
* WeakButSkilled: Stat-wise, they're relatively weak, and they require constant Tributes to stay inside the Pendulum Zones—but they come with devastating effects and support cards to make up for it.

[[caption-width-right:300:Metalfoes Orichalc, Goldriver's PoweredArmor form.]]
'''[[http://yugipedia.com/wiki/Metalfoe Metalfoes]]''', (メタルフォーゼ, Metarufōze), known as '''Metalphosis''' in the OCG, are an archetype of FIRE Psychic-Type monsters based on various crafting metals. They use their Pendulum Effects to destroy their own cards to set Spell and Trap Cards directly from the deck and also have access to Fusion Summoning.
----

* AllYourPowersCombined: Parametalfoes Azortless' armor is a combination of the other Metalfoes' armor.
* ArmorPiercingAttack: Metalfoe Orichalc has the ability to inflict doubled piercing damage.
* TheBigGuy: Volflame; his Fusion form Crimsonite has the highest ATK, but no effect.
* {{Bishounen}}: Bismugear, big time. His full face can be seen in Fullmetalfoes Fusion.
* TheChick: Silverd; her Fusion form Mithrilium also has a defensive effect.
* DualWielding: Orichalc is wielding a fiery sword in one hand, and an axe in the other.
* {{Expy}}:
* FantasyMetals: The Fusion Monsters derive their names from these.
* FragileSpeedster: Silverd and Goldriver. Subverted with Steelen, which looks like it at first but is actually a StoneWall.
* FusionDance: Adamante, Orichalc, Crimsonite and Mithrilium are all Fusion Monsters. Azortless is a Fusion Pendulum Monster.
* {{Hihiirokane}}: Cardinal's name makes reference to this.
* TheLancer: Steelen; he is a high-DEF two-wheeler based off Steel, which symbolizes "stoic" (thus the term "cold iron" and "cold steel") and is mostly a construction metal; his Fusion form Adamante has balanced stats, and no effect. He gains two new forms in Blazing Vortex, which are known as Heavymetalfoes Amalgam and Metalfoes Vanisher. The latter is based on True King Agnimazud, the Vanisher.
* TheLeader: Goldriver; he is an high-ATK four-wheeler based off Gold, which symbolizes "champion" and is mostly a decorative metal; his Fusion form Orichalc also has the second highest stats among the Metalfoes Fusions, only below TheBigGuy Crimsonite and has an effect.
* PoweredArmor: The archetype's Fusion Monsters are actually its Pendulum Monsters wearing armor made from their vehicles.
* TheRival: Volflame is apparently the "vanquisher" of True King Agnimazud, the Vanisher. Judging by the artwork of Metalfoes Vanisher, he then proceeded to turn Agnimazud's body into armor.
* SixthRanger:
** Heavymetalfoes Electrum is the first Link Monster in the archetype, it's the sixth Extra Deck monster overall, and the latest Metalfoes monster to be revealed.
** Mercaster shows up in Blazing Vortex. She is named after the mercasting/mercast process, an investment casting method that involves mercury, indicating the other Metalfoes monsters assist her in obtaining her perfect form. And she does that in spades with her Azortless form.
* TheSmartGuy: Bismugear; his base form is the archetype's only Pendulum Effect Monster, and his Fusion form Alkahest is a SquishyWizard alchemist.
* TheSmurfettePrinciple: Silverd, and by extension Mithrilium and Electrum, are the only female monsters in the archetype until the introduction of Mercaster/Azortless.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: The katakana [メタルフォーゼ] can be read in various ways, with literal translation being "Metalphoze" or "Metalphose"; "Metalphosis" is the popular translation for information usage. The TCG finally went with Metalfoes.
* StoneWall: Steelen's appearance suggests a FragileSpeedster, but his stats suggest otherwise.
* StrongButUnskilled: The ATK and DEF of Adamante and Crimsonite are both 2500 and 3000, respectively, but neither monster has an effect.
* SquishyWizard: Alkahest has 0 ATK/DEF, as does Raremetalfoe Bismugear.
* ThemeNaming: Metalfoe monsters are all named after various metals. The main deck monsters are named after real-life metals while the Extra Deck Monsters are named after mythical alloys.
* WeakButSkilled: Alkahest has 0 stats, but his effect is quite useful.
* WizardClassic: Fitting for someone who is a Squishy Wizard, Alkahest has this as their look.

[[folder:Crystron]]
[[quoteright:230:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/crystron.png]]
[[caption-width-right:230:One of the Crystron Aces: Quariongandrax]]
'''[[http://yugipedia.com/wiki/Crystron Crystron]]''' is an archetype of WATER Machine-Type monsters who focus on Synchro Summoning, especially during the opponent's turn. The non-Tuner monsters can banish themselves from the Graveyards to activate certain effects, while the Tuners are able to bring out Synchro Monsters during any player's turn. They are based on quartz and TheFourGods. They are connected to the Metalfoes, Dracoslayer and Igknight archetypes.
----

* AllYourPowersCombined: Metaltron XII, the True Dracombatant is Cryston Quariongandrax with the powers of the Metalfoes and the Zoodiac archetypes.
* AntiMagic: Phoenix can banish all of your opponent's Spell/Traps in their field ''and'' Graveyard when it is Synchro Summoned.
* BackFromTheDead:
** Quandax and Ametrix can Special Summon a non-Synchro Crystron from the Graveyard when they're destroyed.
** Phoenix can Special Summon a monster from the Graveyard when it is destroyed, except for itself.
* ConfusionFu: They focus on Synchro Summoning during the opponent's turn to disrupt their plays.
* DubNameChange: Needlefiber to Halqifibrax. Became something of a retroactive FanNickname, as many still call the card "Needlefiber" since Halqifibrax took over two years to be ported to the TCG.
* {{Foil}}: Phoenix and Quariongandrax. Both are level 9 Synchro monsters and serve as the boss monsters of the archetype. However, while Phoenix banishes Spell and Traps and revives a monster from the graveyard when destroyed, Quariongandrax banishes monsters and when destroyed summons a banished monster. Furthermore, both monsters need to be summoned using variant of the normal Synchro Summon: Accel Synchro for Phoenix and Double Tuning for Quariongandrax.
* TheFourGods: The five non-Tuner monsters are based off these (although Thystvern is purple instead of the usual blue).
* FusionDance: While the archetype focuses on Synchro summons rather than Fusion summoning, the Crystron Extra Deck monsters resemble a combination of the group's monsters and in most cases, can be summoned using those monsters.
** Quan + Smiger = Quantax
** Citree + Thystvern = Ametrix
** Quan + Citree + Rosenix = Phoenix. [[GameplayAndStorySegregation However, Phoenix cannot be summoned using those monsters as materials]].
** Quan + Rion + Sulfefnir = Quariongandrax
** Quan + Rion + Citree = Halqifibrax
* GirlishPigtails: Citree sports a pair.
* MechanicalLifeForm: All of the Crystron are mechanical in appearance.
* OrangeBlueContrast: Both Tuner monsters are humanoid machines; Quan is a blue robot who looks like a knight, while Citree is a yellow-and-orange robot that looks like a girl (complete with GirlishPigtails and a skirt). Additionally, two of the Synchro Monsters resemble a FusionDance between each Tuner and a Main Deck monster (see below).
* OurDragonsAreDifferent: Thystvern is a machine that looks like a purple wyvern, hence the name.
* PantheraAwesome: Smiger is a robot that looks like a white tiger.
* StatusBuff: Crystolic Potential buffs Crystrons' ATK and DEF by 300.
* ThePhoenix:
** The archetype's ace monster, Phoenix, fits this trope: aside from his name, he also has a reviving effect and a Spell/Trap removal effect that is reminiscent of the Spirit monster Fenghuang—which itself looks like a phoenix as well.
** To a lesser extent, Rosenix certainly looks like a phoenix; although it is based on the Vermilion Bird of the South, and not a phoenix.
* ThemeNaming: In addition to referencing TheFourGods, the Main Deck Crystron monsters are named after various types of minerals, primarily quartz: Citree (citrine), Quan (''milky'' quartz), Rion (morion), Thystvern (amethyst), Smiger (smoky quartz), Rosenix (rose quartz), Prasiortle (prasiolite) and Sulfefnir (sulfur). The Synchros follow suit with Ametrix (ametrine), Quandax (quantum quattro silica) and Phoenix (red onyx).
* TigerVersusDragon: Quandax's and Ametrix's Levels and names imply that they are the result of Smiger (resembling a tiger) and Thystvern (a dragon) combining with Quan and Citree, respectively.
* TurtlePower: Prasiortle looks like a turtle with a snake for a tail.

[[folder:Zoodiac]]
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/zoodiacratpier_lod2_jp_vg_artwork.png]]

'''[[http://yugipedia.com/wiki/Zoodiac Zoodiacs]]''', known as the '''Zodiac Beasts''' in the OCG, are an archetype of EARTH Beast-Warrior-Type monsters based on the EasternZodiac, focusing on Rank 4 Xyz Summons. They have the unique trait of being able to summon their Xyz Monsters by using a single Zoodiac monster, allowing them to rapidly Xyz Summon and use multiple monster effects in quick succession.
----

* AllYourPowersCombined: The Xyz Monsters of the archetype gain ATK and DEF equal to the combined ATK and DEF of the Zoodiac monsters attached to them. Additionally, each of the Main Deck monsters gives an additional effect to any Beast-Warrior-Type Xyz Monster they are attached to, including the Xyz Zoodiacs.
* AnAxeToGrind: Broadbull's weapon of choice.
* AnimalMotifs: They're based on the EasternZodiac, so this is a given. In Zodiac order, we have [[YouDirtyRat Ratpier]], [[ALoadOfBull Broadbull]], [[PantheraAwesome Tigermortar]], [[BunniesForCuteness Bunnyblast]], [[DragonsUpTheYinYang Drident]], [[SnakesAreSinister Whiptail]], [[SapientSteed Thoroughblade]], Ramram, [[KillerGorilla Hammerkong]], [[CluckingFunny Kataroost]], [[HeroicDog Chakanine]], and [[FullBoarAction Boarbow]].
* BackFromTheDead: Chakanine can, in exchange for an Xyz Material, summon a Zoodiac from the graveyard. Ramram has a similar effect that activates when it's destroyed.
* {{BFG}}: Bunnyblast's comically oversized blunderbuss.
* {{BFS}}: Thoroughblade and Ratpier. The latter gets bonus points for his sword being a ''rapier''.
* BladeOnAStick: Drident's halberd.
* DropTheHammer: Hammerkong's weapon is one, as indicated by its name.
* EasternZodiac: The inspiration for this archetype.
* EquippableAlly: Whiptail can attach herself to a Zoodiac Xyz Monster as an Xyz Material via its effect.
* LittleBitBeastly: They're portrayed as being largely human, but with traits of their respective animal.
* LuckilyMyShieldWillProtectMe: Ramram. Fittingly, he also has the highest DEF in the archetype, at 2000.
* MechanicallyUnusualFighter: The Zoodiac Xyz Monsters can be summoned using a single Zoodiac monster with a different name as Xyz Material, and unlike other Xyz Monsters with similar effects, that one monster does not have to be an Xyz Monster. While most Xyz decks need at least two monsters on the field to start Xyz Summoning, the Zoodiac can get started with just one, and can then go on to swap out their Xyz Nonsters at will while building up a ludicrous amount of Xyz Material.
* MythologyGag: Several monsters in ''Anime/YuGiOhZexal'', the series that introduces Xyz Monsters, had an ability that let them count as two materials for an Xyz summon meaning that one could Xyz Summon using only said card, not unlike what this archetype is capable of doing although in this case, it's due to the Xyz Monster's effect rather than the Material's.
* PunnyName: Broadbull's OCG name, Bullhorn (another name for a megaphone, as well as those thingies growing out of a bull's head), Thoroughblade ("thoroughbred" + "blade"), and Boarbow's original name Wildbow ("wild boar" + "bow").
* RedRightHand: Each of them wears an oversized gauntlet on the hand they use to wield their (equally oversized) weapon.
* RingsOfDeath: Chakanine's weapon is a giant chakram.
* WhipItGood: Whiptail, naturally. Appropriately, it also resembles a snake.

[[caption-width-right:300:Master Peace, the True Dracoslaying King]]

[[caption-width-right:300:True King of All Calamities]]

The '''[[http://yugipedia.com/wiki/True_Draco True Dracos]]''', or '''True Dragons''' (真竜 ''Shinryū'') in the OCG, are an archetype of high-level Wyrm-Type monsters with the ability to Tribute Continuous Spells/Traps instead of monsters for their Tribute Summon. Their archetypal Spells/Traps are mainly Continuous, and all have effects that allow for the immediate Tribute Summoning of a True Draco - even on the opponent's turn, for the traps - and can destroy cards if they're sent from the field to the GY. Their monster effects are divided into two types: some True Dracos grant blanket immunity to certain types of cards based on the types of cards used for their tribute summon, while others can once-per-turn search out or activate a True Draco card from the Deck when the opponent activates any effect.\\\

Related to the True Dracos are the '''True Kings''', technically a sub-archetype of True Dracos as they're known as '''True Dragon Emperors''' (真竜皇 ''Shinryūō'') in the OCG.[[note]]All True Draco/King support cards name both archetypes simultaneously, so there is no issue with card names as it relates to support. Interestingly, True Kings, the sub-archetype, was released first before True Dracos, its super-archetype.[[/note]] The True Kings are Level 9 Wyrm monsters that can Special Summon themselves from the hand by destroying two other monsters from the hand or field, including at least one with their Attribute. If both destroyed monsters had their Attribute, then their summon triggers an additional card banish effect. If they're destroyed by card effect, they will trigger a search or summon for a Wyrm monster with a different Attribute from the deck. Their boss monster is the True King of All Calamities, a Rank 9 Xyz with its own powerful monster suppression effect.\\\

Lore-wise, the True Kings are evil dragons rampaging across the world, while the True Dracos are warriors dedicated to fighting the True Kings. The lore of the True Draco and True Kings are connected to a whole host of other archetypes. In no particular order, these include Igknight, Dinomist, Majespecter, Amorphage, Dracoslayer, Metalfoes, Crystron, and Zoodiac. One of the True Dracos is also related to the Zefra archetype from the Duel Terminal universe by name, though there is currently no clear lore connections between the True Draco/Kings lore and DT lore.

----
!!!Tropes associated with the True Dracos:

* AntiMagic: When either one of the True Draco Continuous Spell cards is sent to the graveyard from the Spell/Trap Zone, their player will be able to destroy a Spell/Trap on the field.
* AllYourPowersCombined: Metaltron XII is Crystron Quariongandrax equipped with the Metalfoes' armor and the Zoodiacs' weapons.
* CallBack: Ignis Heat, Majesty Maiden, Dinomight Knight and Dreiath III's names and appearances are ones to the Igknight, Majespecter, Dinomist and Amorphage archetypes, respectively.
* CuteMonsterGirl: Majesty Maiden looks like a young woman with wings and a tail.
* DubNameChange:
** "Dinomight Knuckle, the True Dragon Fist Fighter" to "Dinomight Knight, the True Dracofighter".
** Majesty Maiden's title was changed from "True Dragon Mage" to "True Dracocaster".
** Draius is translated as Dreiath in English.
** "Dozen Metatron, the True Dragon Machine Combatant" is changed to "Metaltron XII, the True Dracombatant".
* {{Expy}}: The True Draco are similar to the Zefra in that they are an archetype tied to a specific storyline which features cards based after other archetypes from the same storyline and oppose a world-ending threat.
* MeaningfulName: Da'at Metatron is the named after both the Da'at sephirah and Metatron, the angel associated with the first sephira.
* NoSell:
** Dreiath III's effect protects other True Draco and True King monsters from being targeted or destroyed by card effects while he's on the field.
** Master Peace, the True Dracoslaying King and Metaltron XII both have an effect that make them unaffected by the effects of cards that share the same type as a card used for its Tribute Summon (Monster, Spell or Trap). And since the latter requires three Tributes to Normal Summon or Set, this means Tributing one of each type can make it all but invincible.
* OurDragonsAreDifferent: Despite all of them being Wyrm-type, none of them have reptilian or draconic forms (most of them are humans or humanoids, and Mariamne is explicitly a phoenix), making them dragons InNameOnly.
* StatusBuff: Dragonic Diagram gives both the True Dragons and the True Kings an extra 300 ATK and DEF.
* WorldsStrongestMan: Metaltron XII and V.F.D., The Beast are tied for the highest ATK among all Wyrm-type monsters, as well as the highest DEF alongside Bahrastos.

!!!Tropes associated with the True Kings:
* AntiMagic: Bahrastos' effect lets him banish up to two Spell/Traps from the field or Graveyard.
* {{Bowdlerise}}:
** Bahrastos's epithet was changed from ''the Führer'' to ''the Fathomer''.
** True King V.F.D, The Beast had his name changed to ''True King of All Calamities''.
* DraconicAbomination: The True Kings are enormous beasts with vaguely draconic traits. True King of All Calamities in particular is a dark and multi-eyed monstrosity with eyes growing on its body and radiating with green electricity.
* {{Expy}}: The True Kings are Wyrm counterparts to the Dragon Rulers, being a group of high-level draconic monsters associated with elements with the ability to summon themselves in exchange for two cards. The value of their ATK and DEF also parallels those of the Dragon Rulers.
* {{Foil}}: True King V.F.D., The Beast and Metaltron XII, the True Dracombatant. Both have 3000 ATK and DEF and a Level/Rank of 9 but while the former is an organic-looking DARK Xyz Monster that serves as the Boss monster of the level 9 True Kings, the later is LIGHT, mechanical in apperance and works with Tribute summoning like the other True Dracos. Even their names are opposites of each other with V.F.D. being named after the Beast of Revelation when Metaltron's Japanese name (Da'at Metatron) referencing one of the Sephira as well as an angel.
* MeaningfulName:
** Agnimazud appears to be named after Agni, the Rigvedic god of fire, and Ahura Mazda, the highest deity of Zoroastrianism.
** Bahrastos' appears to named after Bahamut, the Arabic sea monster, mixed with what seems to be "Christos".
** Lithosagym's name is derived from Lithos, the Greek word for stone, mixed with what seems to be "Azim", one of the names of God in Islam.
** V.F.D. is derived from the expression Vicarius Filii Dei which is sometimes associated with the number 666 and by extension, the Beast of Revelation. V.F.D. could also refer to the epithets of Agnimazud, Bahrastos, and Lithosagym respectively.
* NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast: With names like Vanisher and Disaster, those are dragons you don't want to mess with. V.F.D, The Beast takes it even further by being named after the Beast of Revelation itself.
* PowerNullifier: True King of All Calamities has an extremely powerful suppression effect: it can declare an attribute, change all monsters on the opponent's field to that attribute, and prevent monsters of that attribute in the opponent's possession from activating their effects or attacking. This puts a blanket attack and effect suppression for monsters on the opponent's field, but since it affects monsters that the opponent ''[[ExactWords possesses]]'', ''all'' monsters your opponent has with the declared attribute will be unable to activate their effects, regardless if they're in the hand, the graveyard, or the ''banish zone''.
* StoneWall: Bahrastos has 1800 ATK, which is low for a level 9 monster, but a respectable 3000 DEF.
* TokenGoodTeammate: Mariamne seems to be this for the other Level 9 monsters as, not only it is not a True King like them, but the other True Dracos are its disciples and opposes the True Kings.
