The loa are spirits worshipped by the trolls. The first and most famous loa were Wild Gods, of which many made their home in the mountain range of Zandalar, prompting the ancient trolls to declare the land sacred. However, it is believed that powerful and enlightened individuals can become loa, and indeed even the wisps of the night elves are considered to be loa.

* EarlyInstallmentWeirdness: In addition to the more familiar Ancient Guardians who prmarily look like giant animals, ''War of the Ancients'' describes a number of other Ancient Guardians with very different forms. Some of them include a winged panther with humanoid hands, a group of tiny winged people called pixies, a race of humanoid stick bugs, and a dwarf-like warrior who rode into battle standing on two wolves and wielded a bladed PrecisionGuidedBoomerang. After that early appearance, they and anything like them were quickly dropped and never mentioned again, and from then on Ancient Guardians and Wild Gods are consistently shown to be superpowered animals with a few specific exceptions.

* SavageWolves[=/=]NobleWolf: As is so often the case with mythological lupine creatures in fantasy, Goldrinn is a little bit of both, although the Night Elves say his savagry outweighs his nobility.

* FriendlyRivalry: Has one with Pa'ku, Loa of Pterrorsaurs. His followers tend to get into rivalries with Pa'ku's followers as well.

* TheChick: Constantly preaches about hope being about trusting others and letting them trust you, and so on.

* ApologeticAttacker: He genuinely thinks you and Malfurion been corrupted through no fault of your own in the Emerald Nightmare raid due to Xavius corrupting him. He is really not happy about fighting you and if you wipe he will take some time out to mourn you.

* BackForTheDead: Returns one final time in Battle for Azeroth just to be killed off by [[spoiler:Yazma]].

* KilledOffForReal: After appearing numerous times and being killed by the players throughout World of Warcraft history, she finally meets her permanent end [[spoiler:at the hands of her own high priestess, Yazma]].

* CoolPet: A variation of sorts. Monk players can summon an effigy of him who fights alongside them.

[[spoiler:During the war against Zul and the Blood Trolls, Rezan gets caught in a trap -- a blood ritual circle used to drain his power. His spirit is severed from his physical body, and his body is resurrected into undeath as a mindless ghoul at Zul's command. This act severed the Prelate's connection to Rezan's light to all but a very powerful few, such as Princess Talanji. Rezan's spirit is not done yet, though.]]

Elortha no Shadra, or simply Shadra, is the Mother of Venom, God of Spiders, and Mistress of Spies. An enormous spider loa, she is worshipped by several different troll tribes, including the Witherbark, Gurubashi, Vilebranch, Sandfury, Darkspear, and even the Zandalari. She is repeatedly summoned into the world across Azeroth by the different tribes in order to use her power for different rituals. [[spoiler:In Battle for Azeroth, she is summoned to her shrine in the Garden of the Loa in Zuldazar by Prophet Zul's radicals. Using techniques learned from the Drakkari ice trolls, Zul's lieutenant Yazma, formerly Shadra's high priestess, betrays her loa and absorbs her power, permanently killing Shadra.]]

[[spoiler:At least they used to, until the Blood Trolls killed him off-screen to harness his power. By the time the adventurer, Princess Talanji, and a band of Tortollan pilgrims find him in order to seek his aid against the Blood Trolls, all that remains of Torga is an enormous rotting corpse infested with Blood Troll cultists using Torga's dwindling essence to power dark rituals. With the help of Bwonsamdi, the players commune with Torga's spirit, who tasks them with expelling G'huun's minions from his body. This task complete, Torga promptly reincarnates into a baby turtle, who rides around with the Tortollans.]]

* [[KingIncognito Celestial Incognito]]: She disguises herself as a young girl named Fei, who is a low-ranking member in the temple of the Jade Serpent.

* EverythingIsBetterWithDinosaurs: The Ancient Guardians and August Celestials tend to be more stereotypical fantasy animals such as big cats, wolves, birds, stags, etc. While some of the Loa are some of these more mundane animals, the scene in Zandalar is dominated by Loa based on dinosaurs, and other reptiles.
