She is constantly studying, reading and analyzing, which indicates that she is highly nerdy. Also shown that she is a bit of a GenkiGirl and a MotorMouth, especially once she gets hyped up or excited about something she is passionate about.

* SkilledButWeak: In his witch body. His knowledge of magic is vast but Esther made sure to put him in the body of a relatively weak witch so he couldn't become TheStarscream against her. Consequently he spends much of his time talking Davina and later Rebekah through the various spells they have to do.

* SpiritedYoungLady: Strong, passionate, enthusiastic and opinionated, Cami never hesitates to speak her mind and stand up for what she believes in. She also has no problem in standing up to Klaus and telling him when he is in the wrong.

* AboveGoodAndEvil: How he sees himself; his status as one of the most powerful creatures in existence have given him delusions of being above the rest of humanity. Because he views himself as the most powerful supernatural being on earth, he has a tendency to brag and boast about it, feeling that he can dictate what happens, whether it be moral or immoral. Klaus also doesn't seem to particularly care about doing the right thing, but will do so at times if he finds that it would benefit him in the end somehow.
* AllGirlsWantBadBoys: Hayley used to find him irresistible. Genevieve certainly does. Let's not forget that Camille and Caroline have both found Klaus appealing as well. Most of the {{NiceGirl}}s that fall for Klaus (like Camille and Caroline) have a tendency to deny that they are drawn to or attracted to Klaus out of both disgust and shame that they are attracted to someone who is so messed up and dysfunctional. Although Klaus is sociopathic, dark, and immoral, he is the epitome of TheCasanova and a womanizer, someone who exudes dark charm and a seductive nature and aura about him. Klaus has tons of charisma, charm and he oozes sex appeal. Plus, that British accent also helps matters and gets him plenty of female admiration. Klaus is rich, powerful, strong and hot. How could any girl resist him in the first place?
* AloofBigBrother: To both Rebekah and Kol. Klaus is significantly more powerful than the both of them, even with them being strong and powerful Original vampires themselves. This is because Klaus is the Original Hybrid, the first of his kind, someone who is half werewolf, half vampire. This makes him the most powerful supernatural being in the series universe.Most of Klaus' family, including Elijah, Rebekah, and even their father Mikael, looked down on Klaus and see him as a monster who might not be capable of being redeemed. It's not entirely unjustified, as Klaus continues to commit immoral deed after immoral deed and he never seems to stop repeating the same bad behaviour. Although Klaus has shown BigBrotherInstinct and KnightTemplarBigBrother tendencies towards both Rebekah and Kol, it does not change the fact that Klaus has overall treated his siblings, younger and older, and the rest of his family like garbage. Klaus may be stronger than all of them, including Elijah himself, but personality wise, he is not better than the rest of his siblings or his family.
* AmbitionIsEvil: Klaus achieves his goals and plans through underhanded means. He has shown that he is greedy, selfish and wants everything that he can get his hands on. He also gets intensely jealous and possessive over those whom he holds dear to him and he will do anything, including acting immorally, to make sure he has a hold on the things that he cares about. Klaus often resorts to violence and killing if he does not get his way and he will also use violent tendencies or tactics to achieve he his goals or when he wants something. He has shown that he is incredibly ruthless when it comes to getting what he wants. Klaus always aims to be at the top and will do anything to get there. For example, Klaus wanted to be the Vampire King Of New Orleans and take Marcel's place. So Klaus ended up killing a bunch of Marcel's army and loyal minions just so that he could get Marcel to succumb and submit to him. Klaus has shown that he wants power over people because it is power that makes him feel like he is important.This goes back to his self esteem issues stemming to his human life and hence, why Klaus proves to be so ambitious in regards to getting or achieving something that he really desires whether it is in the form of family, money, status or love.

* AntiVillain: Klaus is [[NobleDemon Type I]] and [[WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds Type II]]. Klaus is Type I, a NobleDemon, as Klaus himself seems to have no problem with committing constant immoral acts and deeds and he seems to embrace the fact that he is a villain who will resort to underhanded and immoral means to achieve his agenda and his goals. However, there are times when Klaus actually has [[EvenEvilHasStandards some standards]] and will not resort to killing all of the time to get what he wants. Klaus has shown that he is capable of doing things more diplomatically than violently. Klaus has shown that he WouldntHurtAChild despite the fact that in the beginning, when he was very skeptical, he wanted Hayley and his unborn child to die. Klaus was also very shocked and disturbed when Caroline had asked Klaus if he was going to hurt her or kill her on her birthday. Klaus has also shown that he is capable of showing humanity, especially in his interactions with Elijah, Rebekah, Marcel, Camille, Hayley and his [[spoiler: daughter Hope]]. His biggest MoralityPet seems to be Cami, as she has become TheConscience and a close friend for him to trust and confide in when he needs to. He also has plenty of PetTheDog moments with Cami as his interactions with her are very tender and heartwarming and is very protective of Camille always doing his best to protect her and keep her out of harms way, even if it means that keeping his distance.

* BadassBoast: Basically all of the time. When is Klaus not boasting? He consistently makes threats towards others, including his own family. He says that if he is family ever gets in the way of getting what he wants when he wants it, he will not hesitate to dagger them and put them in coffins, just like he has done for centuries upon centuries repeatedly. If anyone tries to get in Klaus' way in any way, shape or form, Klaus will not hesitate to threaten to kill you right on the spot. He also brags about how powerful he is and that he can take down anyone with much ease. Klaus even renders himself the most powerful supernatural being on earth and he takes significant pride of this fact because Klaus seems to thrive on being powerful and obtaining power at all cost, even by bragging about himself or making threats towards others to get it.

* BadBoss: Very much so; either you're with him or you're dead. He tends to view his Vampire subjects as expendable and lost half of them when he gave a [[{{MyWayOrTheHighway}} speech pretty much saying as much.]] He slaughtered his previous Hybrids for trying to take him down so they could be free. Attempted to convince Marcel's followers to switch sides by threatening those who didn't with eternal torture, and seems to think that because he's the most powerful, he is due unwavering loyalty from those beneath him. However this could be [[{{BlessedWithSuck}} an unfortunate side effect of his Hybrid nature.]] The curse of heightened emotions from his Vampire side , contribute to amplify his already berserker like Werewolf aggression. Add to his father Mikael [[{{FreudianExcuse}} use to literally beat Klaus]] for any form of weakness. Then you have an Immortal who thinks that might makes right and responds to any sort of challenge to that mindset with murderous rage.

** Does this again with the newly enhanced werewolves who want to protect Hope, except he was never their boss, Hayley and Jackson are the alphas and married each other to empower their packs with Hayley's unique hybrid powers, Klaus has since then, acted like they are his personal army and tries to order them about, he even says "if they are not fighting for me, they won't live to fight at all" He tries to get them to go after Mikael rather than protect Hope due to his own fear, Hayley promptly shuts this down.

* BerserkButton: Never defy him, screw with one of his plans, and if you try to kill him and fail, you'd better start to run as fast as you can. Most importantly, no one, '''no one''' but him is allowed to hurt his loved ones, unless he gives you his consensus. And if he does, ''follow the plan to the letter''. Also, ''do not betray him. Ever.''

* CainAndAbel: Klaus is the Cain to Elijah's Abel. Klaus is the sociopathic, evil and darker brother (Cain) and Elijah is the more noble, moral and upstanding brother (Abel), though the birth order is inverted. Interestingly enough, Klaus and Elijah's relationship with each other directly parallel's Damon and Stefan's relationship, with Damon being the Klaus (Cain) and Stefan being the Elijah (Abel). Similar to Klaus, Damon is sociopathic, dangerous, immoral, and sadistic, and similar to Elijah, Stefan is more noble, moral, compassionate ,and upstanding. Klaus and Elijah often clash because of their opposing personalities and beliefs, which have led to a life long SiblingRivalry, just like Damon and Stefan.
* TheCasanova: Klaus likes to charm women, manipulate them, use them, and then dump them...or kill them.

* DarkAndTroubledPast: He was abused and belittled by his father, tortured, turned into a vampire hybrid.

* EvilIsPetty: His occasional and casual cruelty speak for itself.

* ForgivenButNotForgotten: Elijah and Rebecca tend to forgive him after awhile for all the things he does to them but they never forget and they will every once in awhile throw everything he has ever done in his face when he starts to go to far again.

* HasAType: Seems to have a "thing" for girls with blonde hair and blue eyes, who aren't cowed by him and can see what little goodness he has. Aka Rebekah and the like. Caroline and Camille both being Rebekah's [[ReplacementGoldfish substitutes]].

* IDidWhatIHadToDo: He justifies most of his actions as this even the actions he takes to protect his daughter.

* LaserGuidedKarma: Is given a taste of his own medicine for the first time in a 1,000 years by being daggered with a gold dagger (Klaus is immune to the silver ones) Now the siblings have a dagger just for him in case he gets out of line or at least until Dahlia destroys it.

* MurderIsTheBestSolution: His go to move any problem. One that has caused more trouble then its worth. His siblings and [[{{MoralityChain}} Cami]] are attempting to change Klaus out of that mindset. Even Klaus admits his tendency to drop bodies has caused more enemies and problems then results. As such he has been working to remedy that. Unfortunately nine out of ten times that is still his first instinct and Elijah barely [[spoiler: prevented Klaus from beheading Jackson on his wedding day.]]

* PlotArmor: Despite virtually everyone in the cast constantly trying to kill him, and coming ridiclously close to being KilledOffForReal several times, the writers won't let him die. That is, until "Before Sunset", when he is ''finally'' put into a death-like torpor via the same spell that bound Mikael. But in the next episode he's back up again, though in a new body and after that he back in his own again. Making his comeuppance void.

** Finally got his comeuppance in The Levee Breaks when he is neutralized with the golden dagger by Elijah...but like before, this isn't going to last more than an episode, maybe less.

* [[ReallySevenHundredYearsOld Really One Thousand Years Old]]: Klaus was born in the 10th century. He is also immortal.

* SelfMadeOrphan: He killed his mother Esther after she placed the curse that suppressed his hybrid nature. He's also responsible for Mikael's death in ''Series/TheVampireDiaries''. [[spoiler: And in season two, he kills his recently resurrected biological father Ansel because he knew Hope was alive and of course he later kills Mikael again and his mother Esther again along with his aunt Dahlia and he lampshades this by saying well we're officially orphans.]]

* WellIntentionedExtremist: He is capable of anything when it comes to protecting his family, but especially when it comes to protecting his daughter Hope even if it means having to hurt his siblings, the girl's mother Haley, and the people they care about which is shown by his actions in the final episodes of season 2.
* [[WhenSheSmiles When He Smiles]]: He does grin and smirk sardonically, mischievously or [[PsychoticSmirk psychotically]] quite a lot, but his genuine smiles are quite the sight. So far in this series, the only time he's smiled like this is when Hayley tells him that she thinks their baby is going to be a girl.

* WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds: Caroline seems to think so. Stefan also agrees, but it doesn't stop him from trying to backstab him everytime he has the chance. The fact that he was constantly belittled by his father and cursed and shunned by his mother does bring up an interesting case.

* AscendedExtra: All the Originals vampires became increasingly more important in the story, but Elijah is a particularly extreme example. Julie Plec admits that Daniel Gillies performance and the pull of Elijah's character inspired the writers to make the Originals un-killable to keep him around. And he was originally just a "foot soldier" before being made into Klaus's brother.

* BewareTheNiceOnes: Elijah is usually defined as the most noble out of Klaus and Rebekah but is not afraid to showcase his vicious side when his family is threatened. Which Agnes discovered the hard way.

* BrainwashedAndCrazy: After Esther screws with his head for a while Elijah starts going on unwilling AxCrazy murder sprees, usually triggered by something as simple as a drop of blood on his clothes.

* HeroicBSOD: [[spoiler: Is in the middle of one in season two, after Esther forces him to confront his darker nature, as well as the AwfulTruth above.]]

* NeverHurtAnInnocent: He definitely tries to adhere to this. Notably the only vampire not seen feeding on a human at any point.
* NobleDemon: He is reluctant to kill anyone and has a strong sense of nobility, honourability and morals, but he commits some immoral and morally questionable acts in order to preserve and protect the one thing he values the most: his family. However, despite his claim to nobility, he has ruthless killed many people for little reason, Trevor who was only asking for forgiveness was mercilessly decapitated and Slater, just for talking to Damon and Rose was compel by Elijah to kill himself.

* OOCISSeriousBusiness: [[spoiler: Whatever Esther did to him has left him highly unstable and acting so remarkably out of character. Klaus - the more impulsive, violent brother - has to restrain ''him'' when they deal with Kol and Finn.]]

* PowerTrio: See TheSpock below.

* SelfFulfillingProphecy: [[spoiler:He kills Marcel because of Freya's vision that he will be the end of his family when it is discovered that he has the blood that will turn him into a hybrid that can kill the originals and it was believed that he hadn't taken it yet. Then it turns out that he had already taken it and Elijah killing him turns him and he eventually bites Elijah and the rest of the family except for Klaus causing the very thing he was trying to prevent.]]
* SiblingRivalry: Elijah has had an ongoing rivalry with his brother Klaus for centuries. Elijah has even gone as far as to attempt killing Klaus in order to stop him from breaking his hybrid curse and killing people in the process.

** NotSoStoic: [[spoiler: When the witches tried to kill Hayley's baby, Elijah is constantly on the verge of a full-blown panic attack. This also serves as a clue as to how deep his feelings for her have become.]]

* ActionGirl[=/=]DarkActionGirl: Rebekah is strong, tough and incredibly badass. She is an Original vampire after all and possibly the strongest female character on the show.

* AlphaBitch: Rebekah is like a thousand year old version of the love rival in a Taylor Swift song.
* AnnoyingYoungerSibling: To Elijah, Klaus and kol.
* AntiVillain: Rebekah is [[SlidingScaleOfAntiVillains Type II]]. See WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds.

* DarkActionGirl: Rebekah is an ActionGirl with a little bit of edge. She can be very ruthless when she needs to be and when she wants to be. She can easily put the male characters in their place without hesitation. If anyone so much as crosses her or her family in any way, shape, or form, Rebekah can prove to be a force to be reckoned with. Rebekah can actually prove to be quite cruel and sometimes she will show no mercy. She has shown that she is willing to let Klaus suffer from time to time in order to put him in his place if he crosses the line. However, there is a little bit of an aversion with this trope in regards to Rebekah. Rebekah has shown that while she likes to be feared and intimidating to others, she also secretly yearns for companionship and love. She even admitted that she wanted to be human.

* GirlyGirl: Rebekah is really feminine and enjoys all the girly things including fashion.

* HasAType: Nice, human men, as evidenced by the governer's son, Matt, and Marcel before he turned- though it should be noted she has contemplated turning her lovers before.

* IDidWhatIHadToDo: She actually does have a good reason for basically abandoning Marcel in New Orleans. Mostly because [[ArchnemesisDad Mikael]] had rolled into town and laid siege to their home and for all appearances [[{{NeverFoundTheBody}} it appeared that Marcel had perished]] in the fire that lit up half of the Quarter..

* LoveHungry: See IJustWantToBeLoved. Rebekah seems to desire to be loved more than anything. Unfortunately, all she has gotten is heartache and betrayal. It is no wonder that Rebekah became the way she is.
* LoveMartyr: In regards to Klaus and her family OH SO MUCH. Even when Klaus treated Rebekah like crap for centuries, she still never stopped loving him and remained loyal to him no matter what. She seems to be growing more of a backbone in regards to Klaus and his behavior as of recently though.

* WhatTheHellHero: In as much as Klaus can qualify as a 'hero' in this series. At least once an episode, she'll call him out on all his psychotic behaviour.

However, with the exception of Klaus who is an original, Hybrids aren't much more powerful than Vampires, they merely have human form-werewolf strength on top of their Vampire strength which gets enhanced with anger or a full moon but they benefit from an immunity to stakes, sunlight and werewolf venom. So while they do have an advantage, older vampires can still fight them fairly well and win so long as they don't get bitten. That said, if a hybrid transforms into their wolf form, they would be nearly as strong as an original due to having access to the full power of their werewolf side.

* TheLadette: Hayley is still very feminine however, she also has some strong tomboyish tendencies.

* ParentalAbandonment: Both of her parents are deceased and her adoptive ones kicked her out and she first turned.

The former ruler of all supernatural life in New Orleans. Took over the city while Klaus and his siblings were run [[{{NoodleIncident}} out of Town by their father over one hundred years ago.]] He is charming, intelligent, ruthless, and cunning. He was turned by Klaus back in the day, however he spent over a decade under Klaus' house as his adopted son. Unsurprisingly, this makes their current relationship [[{{Understatement}} a touch complex.]]

At the end of Season Three , Marcel took [[SuperSerum a serum that changed him into a new type of Vampire.]] Stronger then [[TookALevelInBadass multiple Originals with the ability to kill them at will.]] Effectively becoming the most [[PhysicalGod powerful Vampire in existence.]]

* AffablyEvil: He can be charming, giving, and an all round fun guy. As long as everything runs smoothly and nobody forgets whose in charge...if so this can lead to his BerserkButton.

* AmbiguouslyEvil: While his methods are brutal and he shows little mercy towards his enemies Marcel could be considered this as his enemies, the witches sacrifice children and his relationship with the human population is fairly reasonable (though sometimes strained). He has since revealed to be a moral vampire who uses ruthless methods from time to time.

* BenevolentBoss: The vampires in town are quite loyal towards him, and Marcel views his inner circle as family. He displays some affection even towards the nightwalkers (vampires not in the inner circle) by allowing them parties to blow off steam. He showed willingness to allow Thierry to continue his relationship with a witch, and only [[spoiler: imprisoned him in the Garden when Klaus manipulated the situation to appear as if Thierry was planning on betraying Marcel.]] In 1X08 Marcel's leadership qualities are displayed next to Klaus' for full efffect. While Klaus threatens to torture his enemies for eternity, Marcel calmly tells his followers that he'll understand if they switch sides.
* BerserkButton: Challenge him, and by extension his rule, and you get to see the less charming side. Also, like his mentor, and father figure Klaus, he takes disloyalty extremely personal. Davina, who is basically his daughter. Kol learns this the hard way.
** Hell hurting Davina in any way full stop. She is the closest thing he has to a daughter. He is willing to give up anything for her including his Kingdom. Hurting her is the easiest way to a painful end. In fact it was [[spoiler: Elijah and Freya betrayal of her, leading to her fate worse than death. That finally motivated him to take final action against the Mikaelsons.]]
** Children to him are the line that must never be crossed with him. He broke the peace they had with Witches back in season one to prevent innocent girls being sacrificed. He also made Hayley and Hope off limits during their exile despite Klaus numerous enemies wanting to go after them.
* BigBad: was set up to appear as this for The Originals. Though as the episodes pass and the BlackAndGrayMorality show, this trope seems to be muddled somewhat. The competition that Klaus ends up bringing doesn't help. It is then revealed he was GoodAllAlong and has remained one of the more moral vampire thus far.
* BigBrotherInstinct: Is fiercely protective of Davina and will risk anything to for her. Be it his Kingdom or his own life.
** In season two , [[spoiler: after Davina reveals that she is being attacked by a Witch who is attempting to usurp her position as Queen Witch. Marcel doesn't hesitate to offer to kill the Witch in question. Even offering advice on how to handle the situation.]]

* TheCharmer: While he does seek a solid relationship with Rebekah, technically speaking he has managed to have sexual relations with Sophia , Celeste (technically), and Camille.

* EnemyMine: With Father Kieran. Though Kieran doesn't particularly like Marcel, he once came to him for help when the witches were planning on slaughtering four girls for the Harvest ceremony. Despite the strained relationship, Marcel actually thought of Kieran as a friend.
** His ongoing relationship with the Mikaelsons tend to go like this. One moment they are plotting against each other . The next a mutual interest or common enemy leads them to working with one another.

** Also , he doesn't believe in wholesale slaughter of innocents no matter how hungry you are. Because even immortals [[Series/TheWire have to live by a code...]]
* AFatherToHisMen: Considers himself this to his soldiers. Main more evident when his soldiers turned down Klaus offer to switch sides. Also made evident when he decided to bend his knee in surrender rather then go down fighting, in order to save his outmatched soldiers.

** He has shown more traits to show that he is this so far so its mostly played straight, he was not willing to feed on the innocent or allow his vampires to do so when they were all extremely starving which was caused by a spell and he absolutely refused to feed on own men back in UsefulNotes/WW1.
* TheGoodKing: Tends to be fair, if not stern. And is willing to swallow his pride and swear his loyalty to Klaus, in order to stop the slaughter of his people.

* HeroAntagonist: While 'hero' is a bit of a stretch, it's not hard to imagine how Marcel could be seen as a more heroic figure than Klaus or the witches. From Marcel's point of view he's a vampire king with loyal followers who he treats like extended family, an adopted daughter he loves and saved, running a city in a fairly legitimate (for a vampire) fashion that doesn't clearly disadvantage the humans. His rivals are the witches who are willing to sacrifice teenage girls for power and his sire and father-figure Klaus, who is sadistic, volatile and prefers to rule by fear rather than respect. Also as of late of all the Vampires show in show. Marcel has never turned [[EvenEvilHasStandards off his switch or gone on a killing rampage for fun]].

* PetTheDog: Towards Davina, especially after he saved her from the witches. Also, towards Josh, though this isn't entirely out of altruism. Also towards Hayley, when he discovered alone after her parents where slaughtered instead of claiming her as a bargaining chip against the Werewolves he attempted to send her away to safety.
* PragmaticVillainy: While he is more then happy to organize a feeding frenzy to keep his Nightwalkers happy, he is practical enough to keep their meals alive and then heal, mindwipe, and release them. After all you can't keep feeding on tourist's if they stop coming to Town. Also, while he knows the Originals are a threat, he prefers to hold going against them unless he really has to, or he has an edge on them. It's also revealed that he has an (apparently fairly successful) arrangement with the humans of the French Quarter that allows him and his vampires to operate but also keeps the humans (relatively) safe.
* SecretTestOfCharacter: [[spoiler:He secretly drinks the blood that will turn him into a Original Hybrid and acts like he is about to drink it in front of Klaus and Elijah to see whether or not they'll kill him and if they do he will enact a plan to get them out of New Orleans and of course it is Elijah who kills him out of the fear that he will enact the prophecy on his family.]]
* SuperStrength: All vampires have super strength as part of their nature but it usually depends on age as the older they get the stronger they become. Marcel is notable for being exceptionally strong for his age: he is barely two hundred years old, give or take and was able to very briefly dominate the fight between him and Klaus in the penultimate episode of season one. Marcel's punches were able to greatly stagger Klaus and make bleed, which along with a HeartWarming PetTheDog moment, allows Marcel to save Josh from Klaus' bite.
** His strength is first demonstrated against Klaus in episode 11 of season one where Klaus talks about sacrificing Davina, and Marcel hears it and will have none of it, he jumps from a balcony and punches Klaus so hard that he topples him and almost floored him, the only that stopped that was Klaus' hand hitting the floor first.
** Another show of Marcel's strength is when he faced Mikael to protect Cami, he unleashes a series of combos that drive Mikael back, Mikael however, being an Original stronger than Klaus, shrugged it off and effortless floored Marcel, points for trying though and for succeeding in keeping busy until back up came.
** In season three, he impresses an Elder vampire (at least six hundreds years old) with his fighting spirit. She even compliments him before knocking him out.
** At the end of season three Marcel has become the most powerful Vampire to ever walked the Earth. Able to take on multiple Originals with ease. As well as kill them if need be.
* ThePowerOfLove: Marcel claims this is the reasons his followers are so loyal to him despite Klaus' superior strength.

* TheMenFirst: Shown when he bowed to Klaus rather then lose any more of his people. Also in UsefulNotes/WW1 when looking after the soldiers in his battalion.

* DeadpanSnarker: Has a keen dry wit when dealing with the supernatural dramatics he finds himself caught in, usually against his will.

* TheMentor: Shaping up to be this for Davina during the last episodes of season two.

* ScrewThisImOutOfHere: Nine months prior he retired from the Treme Coven, choosing to avoid the Supernatural elements in New Orleans althoghter. Something he recommends to Cami. [[spoiler: May or may not be connected to his wife going on a killing spree.]]

* TheResistance: She represents the Witch's rebelling against Marcel, or so it seems, but it's really more complicated then that.
* TookALevelInBadass: While originally a fun loving, partying borderline hippie who had a casual relationship with Marcel, she quickly became a highly competent witch who plays the Originals against Marcel in an almost fanatical single aim to hunt down and kill Davina. Due to her focus and determination , Elijah has labelled her one of the more dangerous players in the battle for New Orleans, because she is someone with nothing to lose.
* WhyDontYouJustShootHim: Sophie is a bit puzzled as to why Klaus just doesn't rip out Marcel heart on the spot. It takes Rebekah to reveal that Marcel is the nearest thing Klaus has to a son.

* ActionSurvivor: Might be shaping up to be this in the future. She is the TokenHuman in the series and therefore, she does not possess any special powers or abilities, other than her intelligence and her brains. She could also be considered a BadassBookworm. Despite being the only human in the series, she is still able to defend herself when she has to against all of the supernatural beings that surround her. Cami is pretty badass enough that she's even stood up to Klaus on plenty of occasions.

* AngstySurvivingTwin: Her twin brother Sean commited suicide (after commiting genocide as well). Because of this, Cami has consistently angsted about her brother and his death and has come off as distant, icy and aloof at first. She later starts to mellow out and become much warmer once she starts to accept the tragedy that happened to her brother.
* BadassAdorable: She has her moments. Cami is very loveable, kind and endearing. She is also extremely quirky, nerdy and offbeat but she has also proved to be an ActionSurvivor who is a bit of a badass and is more than capable of standing up for herself when she need be. She has even stood up to Klaus of all people and has put him in his place. Meaning that Cami, when angered to provoked, is NOT to be underestimated by any means. Even though she is a mere human girl with no powers, she has shown that she is very brave.

* BadassNormal: Cami is a TokenHuman within a series filled with supernatural beings yet she has shown that she is highly capable of defending herself and fighting for her own safety when she has to. Despite being a bit of a DamselInDistress in the beginning and needing her supernatural male suitors to look out for her, protect her or save her from time to time, Cami has become significantly more brave and badass as the series has gone on. She goes from a DamselInDistress to someone who is more of an ActionSurvivor who is capable of keeping up with the supernatural beings around her. Cami is not much of an ActionGirl since she does not have abilities which require her to defend herself during combat but she is more of a BadassBookworm, using her brains and intelligence to solve problems and achieve her goals and agenda.
** [[spoiler: BadassAbnormal]]: [[spoiler: Once she becomes a vampire.]]

* BettyAndVeronica: Cami is the Betty to Rebekah's Veronica for Marcel's Archie. Marcel was first in a relationship with Rebekah, as Rebekah was Marcel's FirstLove. Cami, on the other hand is extremely good friends with Marcel and was engaged in a sexual relationship with him and there are still unresolved feelings between the two. Marcel has BelligerentSexualTension with both Rebekah and Camille. Rebekah is the AlphaBitch and Camille is the NiceGirl. There might also be a triangle shaping up between Camille, Klaus and Marcel with arguably Cami is the Archie to Marcel's Betty and Klaus' Veronica. Cami is very good friends with both men and has proven to be their MoralityPet. Cami has shown that she turns to Marcel in times of emotional comfort or support and Marcel does the same with her. Klaus has also shown that he has possibly deep (romantic) feelings for Cami as he is very protective of her and became angry when he discovered that Cami had slept with, Marcel going so far as to threaten to kill Marcel to Cami's face. It is unclear what the status of Klaus and Cami's relationship is but what is obvious is the BelligerentSexualTension between them, so much that they have gone into WillTheyOrWontThey territory.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Cami is a NiceGirl but don't piss her off. She will say exactly what is on her mind. She is normally a very understanding and compassionate person but if you so much as push her buttons, she will fight back and she will let you have it with words...and sometimes with a slap. Cami has told off Klaus numerous times and she has told him exactly what is ion her mind. Interestingly enough, Cami's spunkiness and feistiness might be some of the reasons or qualities of why Klaus is drawn to a Camille in the first place.
* {{Bookworm}}: Camille loves to read. She almost always has her head in a book of some sorts. She is TheSmartGirl and a BadassBookworm, so it is understandable why she resorts to reading so much. It is from reading books that she gains and garners all the knowledge that allows her to spout of random facts about psychology and psychobabble. Understandable considering she is a psych student.
* BreakTheCutie[=/=]BrokenBird: Despite Cami coming off as optimistic, happy go lucky and naive and idealistic, there are times when Cami came off as aloof and cynical. This is because she has a DarkAndTroubledPast. At first, she comes off as emotionally detached and distant and she seems to have a habit of pushing others away. The reason for this is because her twin brother Sean had died. After this occurred, she was forever changed and she became severely depressed and hopeless. After her brother's death, she never seemed to fully recover from the loss. Despite this, Cami has also shown that she is very loving, kind, caring and compassionate towards other people and she has sympathized with others who have endured or experienced loss or gone through the process of grief themselves, such as Klaus for example. She has shown that she has empathy for Klaus as she learns to understand his troubles and his background and how endured much suffering and abuse. Still, Cami does have moments of sadness and cynicism despite being the eternal optimist. Understandable considering the pain and heartache that Camille has gone through.

* BrutalHonesty: Wastes no time in telling Klaus exactly what she thinks of him, and never sugarcoats her opinion, [[spoiler: even when being used by him as a compelled spy]]. When it comes to Klaus, she never hides the truth and she is extremely straightforward with him, sometimes to the point of excessive bluntness. However, Cami's bluntness and frankness with Klaus seems to have an effect on Klaus' personality and he does take what Cami says into account. Camille is very feisty and spunky and she is also very opinionated. For such a NiceGirl, she sure has a lot of spunk and fire inside of her. Camille is also capable of begin incredibly sarcastic and snide.
* CanonForeigner: Camille is a new and original character that was created and she did not exist in the original series, ''The Vampire Diaries''.

* TheConscience: Seems to be this for Klaus. Comes with being a MoralityPet for Klaus and she also combines this role with being TheHeart. Cami is a moral touchstone for Klaus. She often reminds him of his immoral behaviour and about doing the right and wrong thing. If Klaus does something immoral or something that Cami does not agreed with, Cami will NOT hesitate to speak her mind, tell Klaus what she feels and put Klaus in his palce with her tact and with her words. Despite the fact that Cami has the potential to be rather blunt with Klaus, she has also shown that she is very compassionate and empathetic towards Klaus and his struggles. She has continuously gone out of her way to be there fore him, befriend him and be there for him for emotional comfort and support. If it is not his brother Elijah that he turns to, it is almost always Cami that Klaus turns to during times of need and support. It is also very evident that Cami has a strong influence on Klaus and his actions and that she brings out a gentler and kinder side of his personality. Cami has shown that she is Klaus' humanity.
* ConstantlyCurious: One of Cami's biggest flaws is the fact that she is always curious about everything. Some times her curiosity gets the best of her and sometimes it manages to cause her trouble or even get her into trouble. Cami has a habit of being too nost at times and sticking her nose in things that she has no business sticking her nose into. It's understandable why Cami would want to find out everything, learn everything and analyze everything she she ends up finding out, since she is a psychology major and making discoveries and analyzing those discoveries is part of her personality. Once she finds out something of importance or something that she is passionate about, she becomes quite TheDeterminator and she never gives up until she finds out the truth or meaning behind everything.
* CryCute: Whenever Cami, who is a bit of a {{Tsundere}}, cries, she manages to still look beautiful while doing so. Because Cami still looks so pretty and beautiful while crying, the audience sympathizes with her even more. Add to her highly tragic past and all of the grief, pain, loss and suffering that she endures, it is very hard to not sympathize with Cami when she cries.
* CuteBookworm: Cami is cute, nerdy, intelligent and brainy. She reads and studies a lot and she is also TheSmartGirl. She always has her head in a book of some sorts, is always analyzing something or researching something, and she engages in psychobabble. Not to mention that she is also always ready to spout of facts about psychology. Comes with being a psych student. See BadassBookworm, {{Bookworm}}, {{Adorkable}}, and TheSmartGirl.
* CuteClumsyGirl: Not that Camille is really physically clumsy per se, but she is a little clumsy in her mannerisms. Not to mention that her [[ConstantlyCurious constant curiosity]] ends up getting herself into serious trouble. She is also high energy and a bit of a GenkiGirl who has a classic case of MotorMouth and when she starts talking, she can't stop which sometimes leads her to say things that she really should not be saying. And sometimes she says things at the wrong time, which leads to even more trouble.

* DamselInDistress --> DamselOutOfDistress: Since Cami is the TokenHuman who has no superhuman abilities, she often requires saving from time to time, mostly by Klaus or Marcel. However, as the series progressed, Cami has shown that even though she is not an ActionGirl, she is more of an ActionSurvivor, suing her brains and intelligence to survive amidst a world of supernatural beings and circumstances. She is also capable of keeping her cool and she is good under pressure.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: Oh dear. Part of the reason why she came off so aloof at first was because she had suffered great loss and tragedy. Her very own twin brother Sean had committed genocide when he had killed his fellow seminary students and then had committed suicide by killing himself all because he was being hexed by a witch. A witch named Agnes had put a hex on him for revenge to get back at his Uncle Kieran for telling off the witches. As a result of being hexed by Agnes, Season slowly started to become crazy and insane. What is sad about the entire thing was that Sean was innocent in all of this and was hexed because of something he didn't even do. As a result, he ended up slaughtering innocents and taking his own life. And Camille lost a family member in the process. It is no wonder that Cami came off so distant when the show first began, as she had suffered the trauma of losing the brother that she loved so much.

* DefrostingTheIceQueen: Originally, Cami starts off as distant, aloof and withdrawn. She's not mean or anything, but she is a little standoffish due to various events in her past. When your twin brother commits mass genocide by slaughtering a bunch of innocent people for unexplained reasons and then commits suicide by killing himself afterwords, it's understandable why you don't want to get close to anyone or even open up about your issues. Despite this, eventually, Camille starts to open up more about her problems and her dark past and in doing so, she becomes much warmer and reveals the kind, compassionate and caring person that was hidden underneath her standoffish facade.

* EatingTheEyeCandy: In regards to both Klaus and Marcel. Cami is seen checking out both Marcel and Klaus and she has an obvious physical and sexual attraction to both of them, although she has never outright said it. She has shown that she is drawn to both men and she has even engaged in a sexual relationship or fling with Marcel, much to Klaus' dismay. Honestly, who can blame Cami for gawking at them or checking them both out? [[MrFanservice Just look at the two of them.]]
* EveryoneLovesBlondes: Camille is beautiful, blonde and intelligent. And she seems to have captured the attention (and the hearts) of both Marcel and Klaus. She seems to be a target for the affections of both Klaus and Marcel because both of them HasAType, as both Klaus and Marcel have a tendency to show fondness and have a thing for blond haired girls with blue eyes. Klaus seems to have a preference for girls or women who show a physical resemblance to [[IncestSubtext his sister Rebekah]], such as his infatuation with Caroline. Marcel also has a preference for blondes because his FirstLove Rebekah was a blonde. Despite the fact that Cami is a blonde, she is more of the GirlNextDoor type and not the sexy FemmeFatale type of blonde. Despite this, she still has the attention of the two major male characters in the show. Cami also breaks the stereotype of being blonde and being TheDitz, BookDumb, the DumbBlonde and the BrainlessBeauty, since she is none of those things and is instead, a blonde and TheSmartGirl, a BadassBookworm and NerdsAreSexy all rolled into one.

* {{Foil}}[=/=]GoodCounterpart: To Rebekah. Both are blonde, smart, spunky and passionate. However, Cami is a NiceGirl while Rebekah is an AlphaBitch. Camille is also a human while Rebekah is an Original vampire. Camille is more of TheHeroine or AntiHero archetype while Rebekah is more of an AntiVillain archetype. Camille is more kind, caring, compassionate and understanding while Rebekah is more immoral, cold, bitchy and ruthless. Both Cami and Rebekah seem to have a strong love of family and will do anything and everything to protect them. Camille is more of a nerdy girl who loves reading and studying and Rebekah is more of a ditzy girl who loves fashion and chasing the opposite sex. Both have shown an interest and attraction to Marcel and both have engaged in a sexual relationship with Marcel. Both have a love hate relationship with Klaus, although both Cami and Rebekah also manage to serve as MoralityPet's for Klaus and bring out the much kinder and softer side of Klaus' personality. Klaus has also shown that he is extremely jealous and possessive over both Cami and Rebekah.

* GoGetterGirl: Camille is very intelligent, scholarly and academic. She is a psychology student and she is the type to be ambitious and work hard. Camille most likely gets straight A's. She devotes her time and effort into her studies and into things that she deems interesting. It could be because she herself has gone through much tragedy and trauma and because of this, she turns to focusing on her goals, dreams and aspirations in the form of studying and analyzing. Another reason Camille seems to be so focused on her academics and why she chose the field of psychology in particular is because she herself wonders about her own mind and her own psychosis. Although she is TheSmartGirl and a BadassBookworm who works hard at what she does, her passion for psychology is more than just about getting straight A's. Her passion for psychology could have a lot to do with wanting to conquer her own demons and learn about other people's demons as well. Camille has also shown that her love life takes a back seat to her studies and her education. However, Camille has shown that when she does find herself attracted to someone, they are most likely of a higher status, complex and very smart and intelligent (like Klaus and Marcel).

* TheHeart: Camille is the TokenHuman of the series and therefore, represents the human aspect of the story. Although it could be argued that Cami shares the role of TheChick with Hayley, Cami is definitely the moral and human aspect of the story as she is a much more moral character than Hayley, who is more of an AntiHero that is morally grey. Cami is a compassionate, kind, caring and loving person who always tries to see the good side everyone, including the likes of a sociopathic and immoral character like Klaus. Camille constantly reminds Klaus and Marcel that there is more to life than personal vendettas and personal agendas that only benefit themselves instead of others. She also serves as a MoralityPet for both Marcel and Klaus and she brings out the softer side of their personalities. She also serves as TheConscience to Klaus, reminding him of his bad behaviour and about doing the wrong thing. She often advises him to think before he acts and gives hymn advice on how to approach things from a more diplomatic point of view instead of subjecting to violence.
* TheIdealist: Camille is somewhat idealistic and naive by nature. She refuses to believe that there is pure evil in the world. Cami is the type of individual who believes that HumansAreGood and that supernatural beings also have the potential to be good if they try. Cami also tries to see the good in everyone even if they don't deserve it and she has shown that she is very naive when it comes to Klaus, despite that she has called him out on his immoral behaviour plenty of times. She is also the PluckyGirl who is very optimistic and happy go lucky, despite the tragedy that she has gone through. Cami believes that no matter how evil someone may seem or how many immoral acts one commits, they are still capable of doing something good if they choose to do so.

* MsFanservice: Cami is blonde, intelligent, very beautiful and physically appealing. She appeals to the male viewers and the male audience. Although not the busty blonde type, she is more of the NiceGirl, TheCutie, and NerdsAreSexy all rolled into one.

* NaiveEverygirl: Cami has shown that she is highly naive and idealistic in nature especially during the beginning. At the start, she believed that nobody was truly or purely evil in the world and that everybody was capable of goodness. She starts to become much more pragmatic as the series progresses probably because of everything that she has been through.
* NerdsAreSexy: Camille is very beautiful and she is also a {{Bookworm}} and a BadassBookworm all rolled into one. She is a psychology major sand she also studies and reads alot, indicating a highly nerdy and scholarly personality. Despite the fact that she is TheSmartGirl who is a nerd, she is also appealing as she has managed to attract the attention of and gain the affections of both Marcel and Klaus. Klaus has also shown that it is Cami's mind and intelligence that he is strongly attracted to as well as her tenacity and her spirit.

* [[NonActionGuy Non Action Girl]]: Cami is shown to not be much into fighting or combat. She depends on her intelligence and her brains to survive. She would also rather resort to using diplomatic tactics and ways in order to achieve her goal instead of resorting to violence of any sort. She seems to be the opposite of Klaus in this aspect, who frequently uses combat, violence or force to achieve his mission or goals.

* PlatonicLifePartners: With Klaus. Despite originally being "against" Klaus because of his bad behaviour and the horrible things he has done, Cami has proven to have become a very good and reliable friend to Klaus. She is always there for him whenever he needs to talk or whether he needs come kind of comfort, advice or support. When Klaus feels like he has nowhere or no one else to go to, he shows that he trusts Cami and turns to her when he really needs to. Cami has been shown to be a good listener and although at first, she as untrusting and skeptical of Klaus because of what he is and who he is, she was reluctant to get closer to him. But once Klaus opened up her eyes and exposed to her his dark past which was filled with pain and dysfunction, Cami began to see Klaus in a different light and began to understand where Klaus was coming from and why he managed to turn out the way that he did. In some ways, Cami has become somewhat of a therapist for Klaus, someone whom Klaus can come to and turn to whenever he needs toy get something off his chest. Cami also serves as TheConscience and a MoralityPet for Klaus, someone who calls him out on his immoral behaviour and reminds him of when he is doing something wrong or when he has crossed the moral line. However, it seems as though Klaus and Cami are platonic and are friends, there might be some mutual romantic feelings between the two of them as Klaus has shown that he has avery big soft spot for Cami and he got very jealous and upset when he discovered that Cami had engaged in a sexual relationship with his enemy Marcel. Cami, on the other hand, has always been drawn to Klaus on some level deep down, despite the fact that she tries to hide it and deny it. Stops being platonic in season 3.

* SavvyGuyEnergeticGirl: Camille is the Energetic Girl to Klaus and Marcel's Savvy Guy. Cami is a GenkiGirl and a MotorMouth who has a somewhat enthusiastic and optimistic personality while both Klaus and Marcel, by contrast, are ManipulativeBastard's and CulturedBadass's that are more sophisticated and have more serious and stoic personality.

* TroubledButCute: Cami is very beautiful and loveable but she has been through so much pain nd suffering that it his understandable why she comes off as so troubled.
* {{Tsundere}}: Type B. Towards Klaus.
* WideEyedIdealist: By far, the most naive and idealistic character in the series. Comes with being the TokenHuman, the PluckyGirl and ThePollyanna all rolled into one.

* BerserkButton: Davina really hates it when someone lies and manipulates her because of the fact that this is what the witches did to her by not telling her that their plan was to sacrifice her life in the Harvest. This is also part of the reason she hates and distrusts the Mikaelsons who have all lied and manipulated her to meet their goals. The first one being Elijah who promised her his mother's spell book but only gives her a few pages and his original plan was to only have her learn a few spells so that she could use a spell that would break the spell that linked Haley to Sophie but of course they are able to convince Sophie to do it herself. Also Elijah was using exact words to postpone giving her the whole book and even then it is not clear if he was ever going to give it to her at all or he was going to but was sidetracked by everything going on at the time. Either way he gets punished for his dishonesty by Davina causing him to choke on his own blood.

* [[DatingWhatDaddyHates Dating What Marcel Hates]]: [[spoiler: She's becoming very close to Kaleb....aka Kol Mikaelson. To say Marcel is upset by this would be an understatement.]]

* DeathGlare: When she hits you with it, you will go flying making it an almost literal death glare.

** Though the situation was more blurred than that, while she was helping him, hurting the witches was her own personal request as she wanted revenge. "you know what I really want Marcel? I want them to pay"

* FateWorseThanDeath: Her fate thanks to Elijah and Freya. [[spoiler: After her death her soul was placed in the Ancestor lands so Kol and Vincent could bring her back. However in order to steal power from the ancestors to kill Lucian Freya and Elijah conspired to take away her protection leaving her trapped and at their mercy. Later after being tortured by them she manages to cut off the ancestors from the the land of the living. {{WordOfGOd}} says that Davina is still alive , but if so she is currently trapped for all time with a horde of pissed off witches who will torture her forever.]]

* HunterOfHisOwnKind: She's a witch who helps Marcel keep the other witchs in line by sensing if, when, and where they do magic. Turns out that she has pretty good reason for being one, too.

* PintSizedPowerhouse: What she lacks in height she makes up for power. Can easily throw around an Original like a rag doll and mind wipe them for equal measure. She gained this power by involuntarily absorbing the power of the three Witch girls that were slaughtered in the Harvest Ritual right before Marcel took her away. She effortlessly beat Klaus and Elijah, making the former start to turn into a wolf against his will and making Elijah choking on a thousand years worth of blood, she then knocks them out.

* SugarAndIcePersonality: Though she often appears aloof and cold, she has been shown to soften around people she knows better (especially Marcel, her childhood friend Tim and Josh).
* TookALevelInJerkass: She's understandably become more ruthless and colder after three seasons of power-plays and temporary alliances with the Originals, Marcel and his crew and the other witches.
* WhenSheSmiles: Understandably, she tends to wear a suspicious scowl when around strangers. Also the Ice aspect of her personality makes her seem cool and aloof. However when she smiles and laughs you remember she's just a teenager looking for some kind of normal.

** Thanks to Elijah and some time and growth, she becomes more skilled and savvy. Even after being depowered, she remains a strong witch and is even more smarter, defeating Klaus by preying on his flaws.

* [[TheWomanWearingTheQueenlyMask The Girl Wearing The Queenly Mask]]: She carries an imperfect facade of authority as Regent, but inside she's painfully aware of how tenuous her rule over the Covens is, and frequently goes to Marcel for advice on how to keep the witches in line.

Klaus has tons of charisma, charm and he oozes sex appeal. Plus, that British accent also helps matters and gets him plenty of female admiration. Klaus is rich, powerful, strong and hot. How could any girl resist him in the first place?

* InsaneTrollLogic: Davina getting a FateWorseThanDeath because of Freya drives him into a murderous rage. The fact that it was done to stop Lucian from killing Klaus and Marcel's so called love Rebekah and eventually killing everybody else not to mention that most of what he does as a result is against anything Davina would have wanted seems to have escaped his thought processes entirely.

* CulturedBadass: His knowledge of Silas, spells and rituals, charms and old fashion drinks.

* SelfMadeOrphan: He killed his mother Esther after she placed the curse that suppressed his hybrid nature. He's also responsible for Mikael's death in TheVampireDiaries. [[spoiler: And in season two, he kills his recently resurrected biological father Ansel because he knew Hope was alive and of course he later kills Mikael again and his mother Esther again along with his aunt Dahlia and he lampshades this by saying well we're officially orphans.]]

The third-youngest of the Originals, notable for being even more AxCrazy and violent than Klaus. He makes his first appearance in season two, after escaping the destruction of The Other Side in TheVampireDiaries, and have joined up with his mother and brother Finn to take out the rest of his siblings. His soul was in the body of a young witch named Kaleb, and he had set his sights on Davina.

* AlasPoorVillain: Even though Kol served as an Anti-Hero on TheVampireDiaries, it was believed by many that he didn't deserve to die at the hands of [[spoiler: Elena and Jeremy Gilbert in Season Four, and by his own brother Finn in Season Two of TheOriginals.]]

* BackFromTheDead: He's brought back from the dead despite his death at Jeremy Gilbert's hands in Series/TheVampireDiaries.
