Klaus is a 1,000+ year old hybrid, who is half vampire and half werewolf. Originally, Klaus, like all of the other Original vampires, was born a human until Esther and Mikael bestowed the curse of vampirism/immortality onto him and the rest of his siblings.

* AboveGoodAndEvil: How he sees himself; his status as one of the most powerful creatures in existence has given him delusions of being above the rest of humanity. Because he views himself as the most powerful supernatural being on earth, he has a tendency to brag and boast about it, feeling that he can dictate what happens, whether it be moral or immoral. Klaus also doesn't seem to particularly care about doing the right thing, but will do so at times if he finds that it would benefit him in the end somehow.
* ActionDad: Being the father of a tribrid girl who is one of the rarest supernatural being in the TVD universe, fighting skills are a requirement which it's easy for an Orginal Vampire with a werewolf side.
* AllGirlsWantBadBoys: Hayley used to find him irresistible. Genevieve certainly does. Camille and Caroline have both found Klaus appealing as well. Most of the {{Nice Girl}}s that fall for Klaus (like Camille and Caroline) have a tendency to deny that they are drawn to or attracted to Klaus out of both disgust and shame that they are attracted to someone who is so messed up and dysfunctional. Although Klaus is sociopathic, dark, and immoral, he is the epitome of TheCasanova and a womanizer, someone who exudes dark charm and a seductive nature and aura about him. Klaus has tons of charisma, charm and he oozes sex appeal. Plus, that British accent also helps matters and gets him plenty of female admiration. Klaus is rich, powerful, strong and hot. How could any girl resist him in the first place?
* AloofBigBrother: To both Rebekah and Kol. Klaus is significantly more powerful than the both of them, even with them being strong and powerful Original vampires themselves. This is because Klaus is the Original Hybrid, the first of his kind, someone who is half werewolf, half vampire. This makes him the most powerful supernatural being in the series' universe. Most of Klaus' family, including Elijah, Rebekah, and even their father Mikael, look down on Klaus and see him as a monster who might not be capable of being redeemed. It's not entirely unjustified, as Klaus continues to commit immoral deed after immoral deed and he never seems to stop repeating the same bad behaviour. Although Klaus has shown BigBrotherInstinct and KnightTemplarBigBrother tendencies towards both Rebekah and Kol, it does not change the fact that Klaus has overall treated his siblings, younger and older, and the rest of his family like garbage. Klaus may be stronger than all of them, including Elijah himself, but personality wise, he is not better than the rest of his siblings or his family.
* AmbitionIsEvil: Klaus achieves his goals and plans through underhanded means. He has shown that he is greedy, selfish and wants everything that he can get his hands on. He also gets intensely jealous and possessive over those whom he holds dear to him and he will do anything, including acting immorally, to make sure he has a hold on the things that he cares about. Klaus often resorts to violence and killing if he does not get his way and he will also use violent tendencies or tactics to achieve he his goals or when he wants something. He has shown that he is incredibly ruthless when it comes to getting what he wants. Klaus always aims to be at the top and will do anything to get there. For example, Klaus wanted to be the Vampire King of New Orleans and take Marcel's place, so Klaus ended up killing a bunch of Marcel's army and loyal minions just so that he could get Marcel to succumb and submit to him. Klaus has shown that he wants power over people because it is power that makes him feel like he is important. This goes back to his self esteem issues stemming to his human life and hence, why Klaus proves to be so ambitious in regards to getting or achieving something that he really desires whether it is in the form of family, money, status or love.
* AnnoyingYoungerSibling: To Elijah, for whom he usually causes problems. Klaus has proven that in terms of personality and outlook, Elijah is more serious, stoic, calm, collected and rational while Klaus has proven that he is very hotheaded, impulsive, over emotional, troublesome and quick tempered. Because of the differences in their personalities, temperaments and outlooks, the two often clash and do not see eye to eye. Elijah tries to constantly talk sense into his hot headed brother but Klaus never seems to listen, which ends up causing major problems with Elijah in the long run. Even though Klaus has managed to consistently disappoint Elijah with his actions, Elijah still manages to be as loyal to Klaus as possible and even tries to believe that there might be a chance for Klaus to redeem himself and change his behaviour and his ways. In comparison to Elijah, Klaus comes off as very pouty, spoiled and bratty when he does not get his way and it seems as though Elijah becomes more of a paternal opt parent figure for Klaus rather than a brother figure.
** He seems to become this for Freya. He takes an especial delight in scaring off her one-night stands and teasing her about her partying.
* AntiVillain: Klaus is [[NobleDemon Type I]] and [[WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds Type II]]. Klaus is Type I, a NobleDemon, as Klaus himself seems to have no problem with committing constant immoral acts and deeds and he seems to embrace the fact that he is a villain who will resort to underhanded and immoral means to achieve his agenda and his goals. However, there are times when Klaus actually has [[EvenEvilHasStandards some standards]] and will not resort to killing all of the time to get what he wants. Klaus has shown that he is capable of doing things more diplomatically than violently. Klaus has shown that he WouldntHurtAChild despite the fact that in the beginning, when he was very skeptical, he wanted Hayley and his unborn child to die. Klaus was also very shocked and disturbed when Caroline had asked Klaus if he was going to hurt her or kill her on her birthday. Klaus has also shown that he is capable of showing humanity, especially in his interactions with Elijah, Rebekah, Marcel, Camille, Hayley and his [[spoiler: daughter Hope]]. His biggest MoralityPet seems to be Cami, as she has become TheConscience and a close friend for him to trust and confide in when he needs to. He also has plenty of PetTheDog moments with Cami, as his interactions with her are very tender and heartwarming. He is very protective of Camille, always doing his best to protect her and keep her out of harm's way, even if means that keeping his distance.
** Klaus is also a Type II, a WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds. Although Klaus embraces the fact that he is a villain and that he constantly commits horrible deeds, it is obvious that Klaus became the way he is because of his DarkAndTroubledPast. He comes from a highly dysfunctional family of abuse and psychological damage. His father, Mikael, has continuously abused him spiritually, physically, mentally, and psychologically, to the point where he became so inherently damaged that there was almost no point of return. Klaus tends to act out and commit immoral deeds for his family and his own survival. He is very ruthless when he wants to be but there are many circumstances which led him to become that way. Klaus is TheUnfavorite in his family and everyone always turns their backs on him. He feels like the BlackSheep within the family and he never felt like he fit in within his family. Part of this is because Klaus is a BastardBastard due to the fact that his mother Esther had an affair on Mikael with an unknown man who was a werewolf. Therefore, Klaus was born an un-triggered werewolf. When his father Mikael turned the entire family into vampires and Klaus made his first human kill, it triggered the werewolf gene, which caused him to become hot headed, violent and angry. Klaus own inner demons of self esteem issues and growing up in an abusive household and upbringing has made Klaus become the violent, blood thirsty and dark character that he has come to be in the current times.
** Despite having some positive traits, he is not above killing children. He has done this numerous times, sometimes for petty reasons too. He killed the two young twin children of Papa Tunde, though this was a tactical choice as Tunde used them to draw power from but Klaus tried to kill Tim and Davina, simply because she didn't want to be his weapon, he succeeded but Davina was brought back via a protection spell Marcel has arranged.
* ArchnemesisDad: This works both ways for Klaus. His own father (his stepfather really) Mikael is his greatest enemy. For centuries upon centuries, Mikael has [[HunterOfHisOwnKind hunted]] Klaus down and has made it his mission to kill Klaus. Mikael has always hated Klaus because he is the illegitimate offspring of his wife Esther and an unknown man who was a werewolf. For this, Mikael does not see Klaus as his son or his own since he is not his blood. Flashbacks show that Mikael was very abusive towards Klaus since childhood and often abused him spiritually, emotionally, and physically. His siblings would often have to stop Mikael's abusive ways towards Klaus so that Klaus would not be even more psychologically damaged. The major reason why Klaus becomes the way he does and goes from a fun loving, gentle and free spirited soul to someone who becomes so dark, twisted, sociopathic and vengeful is because of Mikael and his abuse and hatred against Klaus.
** Also in regards to Marcel, whom [[LikeASonToMe he sees as a son]]. Technically, Marcel is considered to be Klaus' adopted son. While not related to each other biologically, Klaus did raise him. He brought him up when his real parents, his father being the Governor, had abandoned him because he was nothing more than a mere slave. Klaus saw a lot of himself in Marcel, someone who was treated horribly, abused and battered. Despite the fact that they share such things in common, Marcel and Klaus have also schemed to kill each other. It's also what Klaus fears his offspring will see him as, someone that she will grow to hate because of who he is and what he has done.
* AxCrazy: Klaus is the epitome of psychologically unstable, and he is rather dangerous. Klaus obviously presents a very clear danger to others. He threatens to kill or hurt others if he is either crossed or if he is angry. Klaus is capable of extreme violence and murderous rage, especially if he is crossed. Klaus is also the type to [[TheBerserker go off]] at any short second and he can go from calm, cool and collected to downright angry, crazy and murderous. Klaus has shown that he is HotBlooded and has a HairTriggerTemper and even minor things can set him off. Klaus is also into killing and going on murderous rampages and he always seems to be ready to fight someone in the most violent and gruesome way as he is a BloodKnight. He is capable of getting extremely jealous, homicidally so and he has shown that if he does not get his way, he will resort to violence and lashing out at others.
* BadassBoast: Basically all of the time. When is Klaus not boasting? He constantly makes threats towards others, including his own family. He says that if his family ever gets in the way of getting what he wants when he wants it, he will not hesitate to dagger them and put them in coffins, just like he has done for centuries upon centuries repeatedly. If anyone tries to get in Klaus' way in any way, shape or form, Klaus will not hesitate to threaten to kill them right on the spot. He also brags about how powerful he is and that he can take down anyone with much ease. Klaus even considers himself the most powerful supernatural being on earth, which he takes significant pride in. Klaus seems to thrive on being powerful and obtaining power at all cost, even by bragging about himself or making threats towards others to get it.
* BadassInCharge: He was the Vampire King of New Orleans. This granted him power over the French Quarter, and he was therefore in charge of all of the vampires, werewolves and witches that live in the quarter. Klaus was actually the Co-King of New Orleans with Marcel as Klaus had asked Marcel to rule New Orleans with him together.
** When Klaus became the sole leader, no one respected or liked him due to his methods and lack of what seemed to be competent leadership. He tried to rule through fear, aggression and threats rather than respect and love, which got Marcel an UndyingLoyalty filled vampire army. Even the human faction preferred Marcel.
* BadBoss: Very much so; either you're with him or you're dead. He tends to view his Vampire subjects as expendable and lost half of them when he gave a [[{{MyWayOrTheHighway}} speech pretty much saying as much.]] He slaughtered his previous Hybrids for trying to take him down so they could be free, attempted to convince Marcel's followers to switch sides by threatening those who didn't with eternal torture, and seems to think that because he's the most powerful, he is due unwavering loyalty from those beneath him. However, this could be [[{{BlessedWithSuck}} an unfortunate side effect of his Hybrid nature.]] The curse of heightened emotions from his Vampire side contribute to amplify his already berserker like Werewolf aggression. His father Mikael also [[{{FreudianExcuse}} use to literally beat Klaus]] for any form of weakness. Then you have an Immortal who thinks that might makes right and responds to any sort of challenge to that mindset with murderous rage.
** Does this again with the newly enhanced werewolves who want to protect Hope, except he was never their boss. Hayley and Jackson are the alphas and married each other to empower their packs with Hayley's unique hybrid powers, Klaus has since then acted like they are his personal army and tries to order them about, he even says "if they are not fighting for me, they won't live to fight at all." He tries to get them to go after Mikael rather than protect Hope due to his own fear, Hayley promptly shuts this down.
* BarbarianLonghair: In the flashbacks to his human days.
* BastardBastard: Klaus is the illegitimate child of Esther and Ansel, a werewolf. Klaus never knew him before his death.
* BeastAndBeauty: Downplayed. Klaus is the Beast to Camille's Beauty. Klaus physically looks like a human but he is technically a beast as he can shift into a werewolf. He is also an Original Hybrid which means that he is half vampire and half werewolf. This sort of makes Klaus sort of a HumanoidAbomination as with the exception of Tyler, who is no human again and Hayley who has now become a Hybrid, and his daughter hope, there is no one else of his kind. Klaus is also very dangerous and highly capable of violence and destruction. He has shown that he will go the lengths to protect Camille from harm. Camille is a human girl who is beautiful, sweet, kind, compassionate and caring. She also brings out the best in Klaus and serves as a MoralityPet for him. She is also highly naive and idealistic, believing that not everyone is fully evil and that circumstances make people the way they are whether they turn out good or bad.
* BelligerentSexualTension: With Rebekah. Sometimes also with Hayley and Camille.
* TheBerserker: Klaus is very impulsive and throws himself amidst violence without a second thought.
* BerserkButton: Never defy him, screw with one of his plans, and if you try to kill him and fail, you'd better start to run as fast as you can. Most importantly, no one, '''no one''' but him is allowed to hurt his loved ones, unless he gives you his consent. And if he does, ''follow the plan to the letter''. Also, ''do not betray him. Ever.''
** Never, ever, ''ever'' try to keep him away from his daughter. You ''will'' suffer the consequences, no matter who you are. ''Especially'' if you're her mother.
** Perhaps more importantly, never try to replace him as his daughter's father.
* BigBad: For the entire series.
** BigBadFriend: To Marcel and Camille.
* BlackSheep: Klaus is this to his family, especially to his father Mikael. He doesn't really fit in and he seems to be ostracized by most of them.
* BloodKnight: Klaus has shown to be very violent and he gets a thrill out of fighting.
* BreakoutVillain: Klaus was a very popular character on ''The Vampire Diaries'', hence why he was given his own series, ''The Originals''.
* BroodingBoyGentleGirl: Klaus is the Brooding Boy to Camille's Gentle Girl. Klaus is a cynical ByronicHero who has a very DarkAndTroubledPast. He is sociopathic, dark and sinister in personality and he broods a lot because he comes from such a dysfunctional background. Klaus is obviously filled with much darkness and has many demons. Cami, on the hand, is a NiceGirl and a GirlNextDoor, who is generally kind, compassionate, caring and understanding. Despite having her own inner demons and having suffered her own pain and trauma, Cami is still the PluckyGirl who still remains optimistic regardless, which serves as a bit of a foil for Klaus. Cami has shown that she brings out the nicer and kinder side of Klaus' personality and even manages to make a generally brooding Klaus crack a smile from time to time.
* CainAndAbel: Klaus is the Cain to Elijah's Abel. Klaus is the sociopathic, evil and darker brother and Elijah is the more noble, moral and upstanding brother, though the birth order is inverted. Interestingly enough, Klaus and Elijah's relationship with each other directly parallel's Damon and Stefan's relationship, with Damon being the Klaus (Cain) and Stefan being the Elijah (Abel). Similar to Klaus, Damon is sociopathic, dangerous, immoral, and sadistic. Similar to Elijah, Stefan is more noble, moral, compassionate, and upstanding. Klaus and Elijah often clash because of their opposing personalities and beliefs, which has led to a lifelong SiblingRivalry, just like Damon and Stefan.
* TheCasanova: Klaus likes to charm women, manipulate them, use them, and then dump them... or kill them.
* TheCharmer: Comes with being The Casanova and a ManipulativeBastard.
* TheChessmaster: Klaus is very intelligent, manipulative, and scheming.
* ChronicBackstabbingDisorder: Klaus will never hesitate to backstab anyone, literally. He has daggered his entire family multiple times over the centuries. Small wonder nobody ever truly trusts him.
* ChronicVillainy: Klaus just can't help himself from committing bad or evil acts. Sometimes one wonders if he is capable of changing or being truly redeemed.
* ComedicSociopathy: Klaus is sociopathic and manipulative, but he can be very funny and witty at the same time even amidst committing immoral acts.
* CorruptTheCutie: Subverted. His interactions with Camille pull her dangerously close to the actual conflict of the series, but he seems to be aware of this and wants her out of harm's way.
* CrazyJealousGuy: Klaus has a strong tendency to get extremely jealous and envious, homicidally so. He has shown frequent jealousy in regards to Hayley and her relationship and bond with Elijah, mostly because Klaus feels threatened that Elijah is moving in on his family and his daughter. He also shows strong shades of jealousy and possessiveness over Camille. He even said that because Camille slept with Marcel, he told Camille to her face that he would kill Marcel. Klaus has also shown that he gets jealous over every single guy that Rebekah gets involved with, which only increases the IncestSubtext. Klaus has gotten so jealous over Rebekah's love interests that he has managed to kill almost every single one of them (with the exception of Stefan because Klaus actually loved Stefan himself).
* CrazyPrepared: Klaus ''always'' has a plan. And if Plan A doesn't work out, then a Plan B, and a Plan C, etc.
* CulturedBadass: Klaus is WickedCultured, and is highly sophisticated, cultured and chic. Klaus is also rich and he spends money on lavish and expensive things. He seems to have a penchant for decorating, and obviously spends his time going to museums and art galleries. Klaus has also proven that he is a very good artist himself, as he loves to draw. He is also knowledgeable about a wide variety of topics, such as art, literature, food, and he has been exposed to many different cultures over the centuries due to travelling all around the world. Klaus even became a British nobleman during the 1400's and adopted the British way of living.
* CurbStompBattle: Put it this way: Marcel's vampire army ''did not stand a chance against Klaus.''
* DarkAndTroubledPast: He was abused and belittled by his father, tortured, and turned into a vampire hybrid.
* DarkIsEvil: Klaus is seen wearing a lot of darker clothing, particularly black. He is never seen wearing lighter clothing, indicating a dark and immoral character.
* DarkMessiah: Klaus is ''the'' only Original Hybrid on the planet, making him extremely powerful and dangerous.
* DeadpanSnarker: He has his share of witty comebacks, lines and phrases.
* TheDeterminator: Klaus '''NEVER''' gives up when he has a goal, agenda or plan that he wishes to achieve.
* DisproportionateRetribution: His punishment towards anyone who displeases him in the slightest.
* TheDreaded: Marcel's vampires are very, very nervous about the idea of him running loose in New Orleans.
* DudeWheresMyRespect: All Klaus has ever wanted was loyalty and respect from others, especially from his own family.
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: Even though Klaus is a villain, he has been shown to be capable of love and affection. He does love his sister and brother, all things considered, and [[spoiler:adores his daughter.]] He has also shown some affection for Hayley as the mother of his child and has also shown that he cares for Camille. Klaus also cares for Marcel and sees him as a son.
* EvenEvilHasStandards:
** Seemed horrified when Caroline asked if he was going to kill her on her birthday.
** While not even his favourite siblings are safe from his wrath, Klaus is extremely reluctant to ever harm his daughter, and never actively does so.
** This tends to be what sets Klaus and the rest of the Originals apart from the various {{Big Bad}}s each season as, while they are bad people, they have their own morality and there are some lines even they wont cross, whereas their enemies tend to have no lines.
* EvilBrit: Klaus has a British accent due to Joseph Morgan being from Britain.
* EvilCannotComprehendGood: One of Klaus' biggest flaws. He thinks everyone is running an angle, which is why when he comes up against Marcel, who is willing to submit to him to protect Davina and his vampires and prevent a war in New Orleans that would endanger everyone, or Jackson, who is willing to die to protect Hayley and the wolves, his first instinct is to think they're trying to harm him.
* EvilGenius: Klaus is very intelligent, strategic and manipulative.
* EvilGloating: When is Klaus not gloating? It could practically be his middle name (if he were to have one).
* EvilIsHammy: Klaus is not always subtle and can be rather grandiose and over the top in his actions and mannerisms.
* EvilIsPetty: His occasional and casual cruelty speaks for itself.
* EvilParentsWantGoodKids: While Klaus is not a particularly good person most of the time his unconditional love for his daughter Hope is one of his genuinely admirable qualities. In Season 4 he actually tries to tone down his more homicidal tendencies to not break the image Hope has in her mind of her father being her hero.
* EvilTastesGood: Well, Klaus ''is'' a vampire and a werewolf.
* FallenHero: If you look back at when Klaus was human, he was actually a kind, gentle soul who loved to have fun. All that changed when he felt responsible and blamed himself for the death of his younger brother Henrik, became a vampire and unleashed his werewolf side as well.
* FireForgedFriends: With Marcel.
* FirstOfItsKind: Klaus is the very first Original Hybrid.
* {{Foil}}: To Elijah. Klaus is the immoral brother and Elijah is the moral brother. This mirrors the brother dynamic between the Salvatore brothers (with Klaus and Elijah paralleling Damon and Stefan respectively). Like Klaus, Damon is immoral, sociopathic and dark in character whiles like Elijah, Stefan is moral, compassionate and upstanding.
* ForgivenButNotForgotten: Elijah and Rebecca tend to forgive him after a while for all the things he does to them, but they never forget, and they will every once in a while throw everything he has ever done in his face when he starts to go to far again.
* ForTheEvulz: Klaus will gleefully torture or kill anyone if it benefits his plans or even amuses him.

* FreudianTrio: Is part of five, actually. In promotional material, he's [[TheMcCoy the Id]] to [[TheSpock Elijah's]] Superego and [[TheKirk Rebekah's]] Ego.
** In ''The Vampire Diaries'' 3.15, he's [[TheKirk the Ego]] to [[TheMcCoy Kol's]] Id and [[TheSpock Elijah's]] Superego.
** In ''The Vampire Diaries'' 4.17, he's [[TheSpock the Superego]] to [[TheMcCoy Caroline's]] Id and [[TheKirk Stefan's]] Ego.

* GenerationXerox: Klaus has a lot more in common with Mikael than he would like to think or believe.

* GodzillaThreshold: Klaus is this for the witches of New Orleans. They're so desperate to end Marcel's tyranny that they summon an Original vampire into their hometown just to even the odds.
** Turns out to be a lie by the witches, Marcel was in fact a "good" guy using ruthless methods to protect Davina from said witches who wanted to sacrifice her, they just wanted Marcel out of the way so they could get to Davina.
* HairTriggerTemper: Klaus is very quick tempered and gets angered very easily.
* HasAType: Seems to have a "thing" for girls with blonde hair and blue eyes, who aren't cowed by him and can see what little goodness he has. Aka Rebekah and the like, Caroline and Camille both being Rebekah's [[ReplacementGoldfish substitutes]].
** Of course his past loves subvert this with brown-haired, brown-eyed Tatia and red-haired hazel-eyed Aurora.
* HeartbrokenBadass: Klaus has had quite a bit of heartbreak along the way in regards to his family, his friends, and his love life. He has a very tumultuous relationship with his siblings, primarily Elijah and Rebekah, both of whom have tried to remain loyal to him, yet Klaus keeps disappointing them repaetdly in some way. This has caused Elijah and Rebekah to turn their back on him many times. His father, Mikael, hated him and abused him as a child; he also spent centuries upon centuries trying to hunt Klaus down and kill him. Not to mention that within the family, Klaus is the BlackSheep and TheUnfavorite who is constantly looked down upon by everyone. Klaus is also a BastardBastard as he is the illegitimate child of his mother Esther and an unknown man who was a werewolf and whom his mother had an affair with behind Mikael's back. Because of this fact, Klaus has never felt like he fit in with the family and he has always felt 'different'. Klaus' family life and his upbringing has been complete and utter dysfunction. Nevermind his friendships and his love life. Every single friend or companion that Klaus has made has either died, has turned their back on him or has betrayed him somehow. Not to say that it is not without good reason why every single person that Klaus gets close to wants to or manages to turn their back on Klaus considering his constant immoral and evil acts and deeds and the way he treats others. Regardless, it paints Klaus in a sympathetic light that nobody seems to remain loyal to him for too long. It seems Klaus has a case of IJustWantToBeLoved and IJustWantToHaveFriends, which is why Klaus tries to control others through the use of compulsion to gain respect and loyalty. Klaus' love life is also a disaster. His FirstLove (when he was human) was a young and beautiful woman named Tatia, who was a Petrova doppelgänger. According to Elijah, Klaus loved her more than anything, even though Elijah had feelings for her as well. When Tatia had died, Klaus became depressed and became cynical about love. It could be argued that Klaus' opinion regarding love and becoming cynical about the topic in general was because of Tatia and how the LoveTriangle between himself, Tatia and Elijah sparked a SiblingRivalry between the two brothers, with history repeating itself later on during the 15th century with a LoveTriangle forming between himself, Katherine and Elijah. Although, Klaus was not really in love with Katherine the way he was in love with Tatia and only wanted Katherine so that eh could sacrifice her in order to break his hybrid curse. Klaus has engaged in many sexual flings with numerous women throughout the centuries but he has never really been in a serious romantic relationship with one woman for too long. the last woman that he ever had deep feelings for was Tatia, although he did have feelings for Caroline and could be showing some romantic feelings for Camille as well. [[spoiler:He really becomes heartbroken in season 3 when Camille dies after they finally acknowledge their feelings for each other leading to them sleeping together and it turning out that she was compelled to kill herself by one of his first loves and he sees her dead body when he wakes up. Though of course it turns out she was fed vampire blood and eventually becomes a vampire, but becoming a vampire makes her cold towards him as she is dealing with the changes. Then eventually she is bitten by Lucien who has become a new breed of hybrid and she is poisoned with an incurable werewolf venom and she eventually dies again for real this time with Klaus spending the last moments of her life in the dream world with her to ease the pain of her death.]]

* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: Davina. In later episodes he'll do anything to get her back including working for the Hollow against his own family.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: Kol is horrified at Davina's decision to work for the Strix, telling her that whatever power they promise her (i.e, the power to bring him back to life) isn't worth what they'll make her do.

** Hurting Davina in any way. She is the closest thing he has to a daughter, and he is willing to give up anything for her including his Kingdom. Hurting her is the easiest way to a painful end. In fact, it was [[spoiler: Elijah and Freya's betrayal of her, leading to her fate worse than death that finally motivated him to take action against the Mikaelsons.]]
** Children to him are the line that must never be crossed with him. He broke the peace they had with Witches back in season one to prevent innocent girls being sacrificed. He also made Hayley and Hope off limits during their exile despite Klaus' numerous enemies wanting to go after them.
* BigBad: Was set up to appear as this for The Originals. Though as the episodes pass and the BlackAndGrayMorality show, this trope seems to be muddled somewhat. * BigBrotherInstinct: Is fiercely protective of Davina and will risk anything to for her, be it his Kingdom or his own life.

** His ongoing relationship with the Mikaelsons tends to go like this. One moment they are plotting against each other, the next a mutual interest or common enemy leads them to working with one another.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: He won't feed on children and he is openly disgusted by the witches' plans to slaughter their daughters to gain more power. It then turns out, he isn't evil at all and is one the more moral vampires of the show.
** Also, he doesn't believe in wholesale slaughter of innocents no matter how hungry you are. Because even immortals [[Series/TheWire have to live by a code...]]
* AFatherToHisMen: Considers himself this to his soldiers. Made more evident when his soldiers turned down Klaus offer to switch sides. Also made evident when he decided to bend his knee in surrender rather than go down fighting, in order to save his outmatched soldiers.
* GoodAllAlong: Played straight and subverted; Marcel wants to control the witches and prevent them from doing magic because they were willing to sacrifice four teenage girls (and did successfully sacrifice three) as well as hexing a young man to go on a killing spree. Marcel is obviously disgusted by the act, and this disgust at what they did certainly played a role in his rescue of Davina and the restrictions on witchcraft.
** He has shown more traits to show that he is this. So far it's mostly played straight, he was not willing to feed on the innocent or allow his vampires to do so when they were all extremely starving, and he absolutely refused to feed on his own men back in UsefulNotes/WW1.
* TheGoodKing: Tends to be fair, if stern. And is willing to swallow his pride and swear his loyalty to Klaus, in order to stop the slaughter of his people.

From Marcel's point of view, he's a vampire king with loyal followers who he treats like extended family, an adopted daughter he loves and saved, running a city in a fairly legitimate (for a vampire) fashion that doesn't clearly disadvantage the humans. His rivals are the witches who are willing to sacrifice teenage girls for power and his sire and father-figure Klaus, who is sadistic, volatile and prefers to rule by fear rather than respect. Marcel has never turned [[EvenEvilHasStandards off his switch or gone on a killing rampage for fun]].

After all you can't keep feeding on tourists if they stop coming to town. Also, while he knows the Originals are a threat, he prefers to hold going against them unless he really has to, or he has an edge on them. It's also revealed that he has an (apparently fairly successful) arrangement with the humans of the French Quarter that allows him and his vampires to operate but also keeps the humans (relatively) safe.
* SecretTestOfCharacter: [[spoiler:He secretly drinks the blood that will turn him into an Original Hybrid and acts like he is about to drink it in front of Klaus and Elijah to see whether or not they'll kill him. If they do, he will enact a plan to get them out of New Orleans. Of course, it is Elijah who kills him out of the fear that he will enact the prophecy on his family.]]
* SuperStrength: All vampires have super strength as part of their nature, but it usually depends on age as the older they get the stronger they become. Marcel is notable for being exceptionally strong for his age: he is barely two hundred years old, give or take and was able to very briefly dominate the fight between him and Klaus in the penultimate episode of season one. Marcel's punches were able to greatly stagger Klaus and make bleed, which along with a PetTheDog moment, allows Marcel to save Josh from Klaus' bite.
** His strength is first demonstrated against Klaus in episode 11 of season one where Klaus talks about sacrificing Davina. Marcel hears it and will have none of it, so he jumps from a balcony and punches Klaus so hard that he topples and almost floors him, were it not for Klaus' hand hitting the floor first.
** Another show of Marcel's strength is when he faces Mikael to protect Cami, he unleashes a series of combos that drive Mikael back. Mikael however, being an Original stronger than Klaus, shrugs it off and effortlessly floors Marcel. Points for trying and for succeeding in keeping him busy until back up came.
** In season three, he impresses an Elder vampire (at least six hundred years old) with his fighting spirit. She even compliments him before knocking him out.
** At the end of season three Marcel has become the most powerful Vampire to ever walk the Earth, able to take on multiple Originals with ease, as well as kill them if need be.
* ThePowerOfLove: Marcel claims this is the reason his followers are so loyal to him despite Klaus' superior strength.
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: To Klaus, after Marcel is forced to turn over his kingdom to the hybrid. Marcel says that Klaus will never have the loyal followers Marcel does, because Klaus tries to force love out of people. Marcel adds that while Klaus taught him many things, he had to figure out for himself that loyalty is both respect and love, because Klaus himself has never understood this.

After that, she became more serious, obsessed with the goal of killing Davina so she can complete the ritual and bring her niece back from the dead. Sophie has made it clear that she will do whatever it takes to reach her goal, which makes her dangerous to have as an enemy.

Due to the events that happened, three girls died, including Monique, Jane-Anne's daughter, while Davina got away. If Davina doesn't die, then none of them will resurrect, meaning Jane-Anne sacrificed her daughter for nothing. It is to this end that the entire show's plot came to place. Jane-Anne gave her life so Sophie could find and kill Davina to bring back the sacrifices, including Monique, of whom is the reason Sophie is blaming herself for everything going wrong and the motivation for trying to fix it.
* TheResistance: She represents the Witch's rebelling against Marcel, or so it seems, but it's really more complicated than that.
* TookALevelInBadass: While originally a fun loving, partying borderline hippie who had a casual relationship with Marcel, she quickly became a highly competent witch who plays the Originals against Marcel in an almost fanatical single aim to hunt down and kill Davina. Due to her focus and determination, Elijah has labelled her one of the more dangerous players in the battle for New Orleans, because she is someone with nothing to lose.

A bartender and psychology student who begins the series with no knowledge of the supernatural world. She is drawn to Klaus and is the object of Marcel's affections. Her motivation for finding out what makes a person good or evil and the primary reason she returns to New Orleans is to find out why her twin brother Sean went mad and slaughtered all the people in his choir and then himself, especially since Sean had no signs of mental breakdown or anything of the sort before it happened.

Cami also has a strong connection with Klaus and has shown that she is strongly attracted to him despite the fact that Klaus has continuously committed evil and immoral deeds. However, Camille has shown that she does bring out a much kinder and softer side of Klaus' personality and it could be argued that Cami is Klaus' humanity.

She has also shown that she has a soft spot for Klaus and cares about him, despite all the immoral and evil acts that he has committed. She constantly gives Klaus second and third and fourth chances and she believes that Klaus is not truly evil and that there is still goodness inside of him no matter how much he tries to run from it or hide it. She has extended and shown compassion towards Klaus and has been there for him in times of need and support. Cami is TheConscience and a MoralityPet for Klaus and Klaus always comes to Cami whenever he needs to have a heart to heart or needs to get something off of his chest. The fact that Cami has such qualities of over optimism and belief in someone like Klaus shows that she is very determined and refuses to give up on people when she believes deep down that they are capable of being good if they choose to do so. This does however result in Camille coming off as overly idealistic and naive.
* AngstySurvivingTwin: Her twin brother Sean committed suicide (after committing genocide as well). Because of this, Cami has consistently angsted about her brother and his death and has come off as distant, icy and aloof at first. She later starts to mellow out and become much warmer once she starts to accept the tragedy that happened to her brother.
* BadassAdorable: She has her moments. Cami is very loveable, kind and endearing. She is also extremely quirky, nerdy and offbeat but she has also proved to be an ActionSurvivor who is a bit of a badass and is more than capable of standing up for herself when she needs to be. She has even stood up to Klaus of all people and has put him in his place, meaning that Cami, when angered, is NOT to be underestimated by any means. Even though she is a mere human girl with no powers, she has shown that she is very brave.
* BadassBookworm: She's intelligent and scholarly. She is always shown to be studying, reading or analyzing. She often depends on her intelligence and her brains in order to achieve her goals instead of resorting to violence or force. Cami is shown that she is not physically imposing or intimidating. Despite being a bookworm and a nerd, she has shown that she is a very strong willed person and she can stand up for herself when she has to. She also has no superhuman abilities and is therefore subjected to using her brains, intellect and intelligence to achieve her goals and agenda.
* BadassNormal: Cami is a TokenHuman within a series filled with supernatural beings yet she has shown that she is highly capable of defending herself and fighting for her own safety when she has to. Despite being a bit of a DamselInDistress in the beginning and needing her supernatural male suitors to look out for her, protect her or save her from time to time, Cami has become significantly braver and more badass as the series has gone on. She goes from a DamselInDistress to someone who is more of an ActionSurvivor who is capable of keeping up with the supernatural beings around her. Cami is not much of an ActionGirl since she does not have abilities that allow her to defend herself during combat but she is more of a BadassBookworm, using her brains and intelligence to solve problems and achieve her goals and agenda.

Cami has had a sexual affair with Marcel (which caused Klaus to become jealous). Cami also seems to be Marcel's type physically, as she is blonde and beautiful (like Marcel's first love, Rebekah). Cami also has a strong connection with Klaus and there is an obvious spark between them. Klaus obvious deeply cares about Cami as he has gone out of his way to protect her as much as possible. Cami also has a tendency to bring out the much kinder and caring side of Klaus, something that Klaus does not show to often around many other people (other than Rebekah, Elijah, Stefan and Caroline). There is so much pent up sexual tension between Klaus and Cami that they have officially veered into the WillTheyOrWontThey territory.
* BettyAndVeronica: Cami is the Betty to Rebekah's Veronica for Marcel's Archie. Marcel was first in a relationship with Rebekah, as Rebekah was Marcel's FirstLove. Cami, on the other hand is extremely good friends with Marcel and was engaged in a sexual relationship with him and there are still unresolved feelings between the two. Marcel has BelligerentSexualTension with both Rebekah and Camille. Rebekah is the AlphaBitch and Camille is the NiceGirl. There might also be a triangle shaping up between Camille, Klaus and Marcel with arguably Cami is the Archie to Marcel's Betty and Klaus' Veronica. Cami is very good friends with both men and has proven to be their MoralityPet. Cami has shown that she turns to Marcel in times of emotional comfort or support and Marcel does the same with her. Klaus has also shown that he has possibly deep (romantic) feelings for Cami as he is very protective of her and became angry when he discovered that Cami had slept with Marcel, going so far as to threaten to kill Marcel to Cami's face. It is unclear what the status of Klaus and Cami's relationship is but what is obvious is the BelligerentSexualTension between them, so much that they have gone into WillTheyOrWontThey territory.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Cami is a NiceGirl but don't piss her off. She will say exactly what is on her mind. She is normally a very understanding and compassionate person but if you so much as push her buttons, she will fight back and she will let you have it with words... and sometimes with a slap. Cami has told off Klaus numerous times and she has told him exactly what is on her mind. Cami's spunkiness and feistiness might be some of the reasons or qualities of why Klaus is drawn to her in the first place.
* {{Bookworm}}: Camille loves to read. She almost always has her head in a book of some sorts. She is TheSmartGirl and a BadassBookworm, so it is understandable why she likes reading so much. It is from reading books that she gains and garners all the knowledge that allows her to spout of random facts about psychology and psychobabble. Understandable, considering she is a psych student.
* BreakTheCutie[=/=]BrokenBird: Despite Cami being optimistic, happy go lucky and naive and idealistic, there are times when she comes off as aloof and cynical. This is because she has a DarkAndTroubledPast. At first, she comes off as emotionally detached and distant and she seems to have a habit of pushing others away. The reason for this is because her twin brother Sean had died, after which she was forever changed and she became severely depressed and hopeless. She never fully recovered from the loss. Despite this, Cami has also shown that she is very loving, kind, caring and compassionate towards other people and she has sympathized with others who have endured or experienced loss or gone through the process of grief themselves, such as Klaus for example. She has shown that she has empathy for Klaus as she learns to understand his troubles and his background and how he endured much suffering and abuse. Still, Cami does have moments of sadness and cynicism despite being the eternal optimist. Understandable considering the pain and heartache that she has gone through.
* BroodingBoyGentleGirl: Camille is the Gentle Girl to Klaus' Brooding Boy. Klaus is a cynical ByronicHero who has a very DarkAndTroubledPast. He is sociopathic, dark and sinister in personality and he broods a lot because he comes from such a dysfunctional background. Klaus is obviously filled with much darkness and has many demons. Cami, on the hand, is a NiceGirl and a GirlNextDoor, who is generally kind, compassionate, caring and understanding. Despite having her own inner demons and having suffered her own pain and trauma, Cami is still the PluckyGirl who still remains optimistic regardless, which serves as a bit of a foil for Klaus. Cami has shown that she brings out the nicer and kinder side of Klaus' personality and even manages to make a generally brooding Klaus crack a smile from time to time.
* BrutalHonesty: Wastes no time in telling Klaus exactly what she thinks of him, and never sugarcoats her opinion, [[spoiler: even when being used by him as a compelled spy]]. When it comes to Klaus, she never hides the truth and she is extremely straightforward with him, sometimes to the point of excessive bluntness. However, Cami's bluntness and frankness with Klaus seems to have an effect on Klaus' personality and he does take what Cami says into account. Camille is very feisty and spunky and she is also very opinionated. For such a NiceGirl, she sure has a lot of spunk and fire inside of her. Camille is also capable of being incredibly sarcastic and snide.
* CanonForeigner: Camille is an original character who did not exist in the original series, ''The Vampire Diaries''.
* TheChick: The opposite of Rebekah, who is TheDarkChick. Cami represents the spiritual, the feminine and TheHeart aspect of the series. She is also a TokenGoodTeammate out of a group of supernatural beings who are very immoral and morally grey. She may not be TheHeroine of the story but she is the classic GirlNextDoor and the NiceGirl who serves as a MoralityPet to both Klaus and Marcel, the two major male characters in the show. She has also shown that she is the mediator between Klaus and Marcel.
* TheConscience: She is this for Klaus, along with TheHeart and his MoralityPet. Cami is a moral touchstone for Klaus. She often reminds him of his immoral behaviour and about doing the right and wrong thing. If Klaus does something immoral or something that Cami does not agreed with, she will NOT hesitate to speak her mind, tell Klaus what she feels and put Klaus in his place with her words. Despite the fact that Cami has the potential to be rather blunt with Klaus, she has also shown that she is very compassionate and empathetic towards Klaus and his struggles. She has continuously gone out of her way to be there for him, befriend him and offer him emotional comfort and support. If it is not his brother Elijah that he turns to, it is almost always Cami that Klaus turns to during times of need and support. It is also very evident that Cami has a strong influence on Klaus and his actions and that she brings out a gentler and kinder side of his personality. Cami has shown that she is Klaus' humanity.
* ConstantlyCurious: One of Cami's biggest flaws is the fact that she is always curious about everything. Sometimes her curiosity gets the best of her and it manages to get her into trouble. Cami has a habit of being too nosy at times and sticking her nose in things that she has no business sticking her nose into. It's understandable why Cami would want to find out everything, learn everything and analyze everything she ends up finding out, since she is a psychology major and making discoveries and analyzing those discoveries is part of her personality. Once she finds out something of importance or something that she is passionate about, she becomes quite TheDeterminator and she never gives up until she finds out the truth or meaning behind everything.
* CryCute: Whenever Cami, who is a bit of a {{Tsundere}}, cries, she manages to still look beautiful while doing so. Because Cami still looks so pretty and beautiful while crying, the audience sympathizes with her even more. Add her highly tragic past and all of the grief, pain, loss and suffering that she endures, it is very hard to not sympathize with Cami when she cries.
* CuteBookworm: Cami is cute, nerdy, intelligent and brainy. She reads and studies a lot and she is also TheSmartGirl. She always has her head in a book of some sorts, is always analyzing something or researching something, and she engages in psychobabble. Not to mention that she is also always ready to spout of facts about psychology. Comes with being a psych student.
* CuteClumsyGirl: Not that Camille is really physically clumsy per se, but she is a little clumsy in her mannerisms. Not to mention that her [[ConstantlyCurious constant curiosity]] ends up getting herself into serious trouble. She is also energetic and a bit of a GenkiGirl who has a classic case of MotorMouth and when she starts talking, she can't stop which sometimes leads her to say things that she really should not be saying. And sometimes she says things at the wrong time, which leads to even more trouble.
* TheCutie: Cami is very loveable and endearing. She has been through so much tragedy that she is pretty much a broken soul and everyone that she loved and cared about has died on her. Despite this, Camille still finds the strength and the will to fight and to keep going no matter what. She still retains her optimism and her ability to see the good in situations and the good in other people. Her relationship and her interactions with Klaus are very tender and heartwarming and she is seen to bring out the much warmer and kinder side of Klaus' personality. That, in itself, makes Cami loveable.
* DamselInDistress: Since Cami is the TokenHuman who has no superhuman abilities, she often requires saving from time to time, mostly by Klaus or Marcel.
* DamselOutOfDistress: As the series progresses, Cami has shown that even though she is not an ActionGirl, she is more of an ActionSurvivor, using her brains and intelligence to survive amidst a world of supernatural beings and circumstances. She is also capable of keeping her cool and she is good under pressure.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: Part of the reason why she came off so aloof at first was because she had suffered great loss and tragedy. Her twin brother Sean had committed genocide when he killed his fellow seminary students and then committed suicide, all because he was being hexed by a witch. A witch named Agnes had put a hex on him for revenge to get back at his Uncle Kieran for telling off the witches. As a result of being hexed by Agnes, Sean slowly started go crazy. What is sad about the entire thing was that Sean was innocent in all of this and was hexed because of something he didn't even do. As a result, he ended up slaughtering innocents and taking his own life. And Camille lost a family member in the process. It is no wonder that Cami came off so distant when the show first began, as she had suffered the trauma of losing the brother that she loved so much.
* DeadpanSnarker: Cami can be very sarcastic and snide, especially when she is angered or irritated. She also throws in an occasional witty line or two. Most of her sarcasm and snide comments and remarks often come in handy whenever she is interacting with Klaus. This often results in SnarkToSnarkCombat or SlapSlapKiss between the two of them. The sarcastic and snide comments between Klaus and Camille are also a result of the BelligerentSexualTension between the two of them as well.
* DefrostingTheIceQueen: Originally, Cami starts off as distant, aloof and withdrawn. She's not mean or anything, but she is a little standoffish due to various events in her past. When your twin brother commits mass genocide by slaughtering a bunch of innocent people for unexplained reasons and then commits suicide by killing himself afterwards, it's understandable why you don't want to get close to anyone or even open up about your issues. Despite this, eventually, Camille starts to open up more about her problems and her dark past and in doing so, she becomes much warmer and reveals the kind, compassionate and caring person that was hidden underneath her standoffish facade.
* TheDeterminator: Even Klaus says that Camille's tenacity is one of the things he loves most about Camille.
* DistaffCounterpart: Cami is basically the female version of Matt Donovan (from ''The Vampire Diaries''). Both Cami and Matt are HairOfGoldHeartOfGold and have InnocentBlueEyes. Both Cami and Matt are the TokenHuman of their respective series. Matt is the classic NiceGuy and Cami is the classic NiceGirl. Matt is the BoyNextDoor and Cami is the GirlNextDoor. Both Cami and Matt also like to see the good in everyone as much as possible.
* DoNotCallMePaul: Hates being called Camille and prefers to be called Cami instead, as she feels that her name is a "grandma's name". Everyone in the show seems to call her Cami.
* EatingTheEyeCandy: In regards to both Klaus and Marcel. Cami is seen checking out both Marcel and Klaus and she has an obvious physical and sexual attraction to both of them, although she has never outright said it. She has shown that she is drawn to both men and she has even engaged in a sexual relationship with Marcel, much to Klaus' dismay. Honestly, who can blame Cami for gawking at them or checking them both out? [[MrFanservice Just look at the two of them.]]
* EveryoneLovesBlondes: Camille is beautiful, blonde and intelligent. And she seems to have captured the attention (and the hearts) of both Marcel and Klaus. She seems to be a target for the affections of both Klaus and Marcel because both of them [[HasAType have a type]], as both Klaus and Marcel have a tendency to show fondness and have a thing for blond haired girls with blue eyes. Klaus seems to have a preference for girls or women who show a physical resemblance to [[IncestSubtext his sister Rebekah]], such as his infatuation with Caroline. Marcel also has a preference for blondes because his FirstLove Rebekah was a blonde. Despite the fact that Cami is a blonde, she is more of the GirlNextDoor type and not the sexy FemmeFatale type of blonde. Despite this, she still has the attention of the two major male characters in the show. Cami also breaks the stereotype of being blonde and being TheDitz, BookDumb, the DumbBlonde and the BrainlessBeauty, since she is none of those things and is instead, a blonde and TheSmartGirl, a BadassBookworm and NerdsAreSexy all rolled into one.
* {{Expy}}: Of Caroline Forbes. Both are blonde haired and blue eyed, although Camille is more of TheSmartGirl while Caroline is more of TheDitz and the DumbBlonde. Both Cami and Caroline are passionate, outspoken, spunky and both stand up to Klaus and call him out on his behaviour. Both Camille and Caroline are also a MoralityPet to Klaus and they both bring out Klaus' much kinder side and bring out his humanity. Both Camille and Caroline are also incredibly idealistic and naive from time to time. Also, the only major difference between Camille and Caroline is that Cami is a human while Caroline is a vampire, although like Cami, Caroline also originally started out as a naive, gullible and idealistic human girl.

Both have a love hate relationship with Klaus, although both Cami and Rebekah also manage to serve as {{Morality Pet}}s for Klaus and bring out the much kinder and softer side of Klaus' personality. Klaus has also shown that he is extremely jealous and possessive over both Cami and Rebekah.
* FreudianTrio: Cami is the [[TheKirk Ego]] (the balance, the mediator, TheChick, TheHeart) to Klaus' [[TheMcCoy Id]] (emotional, hotheaded, passionate, BloodKnight) and Marcel's [[TheSpock Superego]] (manipulative, calm, cool, TheStoic).
* GenkiGirl: Cami is rather high energy and loves talking, especially when she gets excited. She also has a classic case of MotorMouth and when she gets excited, she seems to get overhyped to the point where she becomes full of so much energy that she might exhaust others around her.
* GirlNextDoor: Cami is a classic NiceGirl who is the TokenHuman of the series. She is also the casual blonde girl whom everyone would want to befriend.
* GoGetterGirl: Camille is very intelligent, scholarly and academic. She is a psychology student and she is the type to be ambitious and work hard. She devotes her time and effort into her studies and into things that she deems interesting. It could be because she herself has gone through much tragedy and trauma and because of this, she turns to focusing on her goals, dreams and aspirations in the form of studying and analyzing. Another reason Camille seems to be so focused on her academics and why she chose the field of psychology in particular is because she herself wonders about her own mind and her own psychosis. Although she is TheSmartGirl and a BadassBookworm who works hard at what she does, her passion for psychology is more than just about getting straight A's. Her passion for psychology could have a lot to do with wanting to conquer her own demons and learn about other people's demons as well. Camille has also shown that her love life takes a back seat to her studies and her education. However, Camille has shown that when she does find herself attracted to someone, they are most likely of a higher status, complex and very smart and intelligent (like Klaus and Marcel).
* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold: Cami is blonde haired along with having InnocentBlueEyes. Personality wise, she has consistently proven that she is a very compassionate, kind, caring and empathetic character who believes nobody is innately evil. She is clearly a very innocent spirit and she is also woefully naive and gullible. She is the classic NiceGirl and DamselInDistress combined with BeautyEqualsGoodness, TheHeart, AllLovingHero, TheIngenue, and IncorruptiblePurePureness. Aside from being a compassionate and noble individual, Cami has also shown that she is very wholesome, sweet and modest. She also represents the human aspect of the series as she is the sole human character. However, even if she is the ultimate sweet and nice girl of the series, DO NOT push her buttons or provoke her for she can veer into BewareTheNiceOnes territory. Even though Cami is generally nice and polite, she does not take crap from anyone, especially Klaus.
* TheHeart: Camille is the TokenHuman of the series and therefore, represents the human aspect of the story. Although it could be argued that Cami shares the role of TheChick with Hayley, Cami is definitely the moral and human aspect of the story as she is a much more moral character than Hayley, who is more of an AntiHero that is morally grey. Cami is a compassionate, kind, caring and loving person who always tries to see the good side everyone, including the likes of a sociopathic and immoral character like Klaus. Camille constantly reminds Klaus and Marcel that there is more to life than personal vendettas and personal agendas that only benefit themselves instead of others. She also serves as a MoralityPet for both Marcel and Klaus and she brings out the softer side of their personalities. She also serves as TheConscience to Klaus, reminding him of his bad behaviour and about doing the wrong thing. She often advises him to think before he acts and gives him advice on how to approach things from a more diplomatic point of view instead of resorting to violence.
* TheIdealist: Camille is somewhat idealistic and naive by nature. She refuses to believe that there is pure evil in the world. Cami is the type of individual who believes that HumansAreGood and that supernatural beings also have the potential to be good if they try. Cami also tries to see the good in everyone, even if they don't deserve it, and she has shown that she is very naive when it comes to Klaus, even though she has called him out on his immoral behaviour plenty of times. She is also the PluckyGirl who is very optimistic and happy go lucky, despite the tragedy that she has gone through. Cami believes that no matter how evil someone may seem or how many immoral acts one commits, they are still capable of doing something good if they choose to do so.
* TheIngenue: Cami has a very innocent, pure and naive quality about her. Probably because she is so idealistic and optimistic about life. She is woefully naive which make her an easy target for danger and for villainous characters, such as Marcel and Klaus, to take advantage of her. Not to mention that Cami is also the classic TokenHuman who is a DamselInDistress and needs constant saving from her supernatural male suitors in Klaus and Marcel. Cami is also a blonde who is a HairOfGoldHeartOfGold with InnocentBlueEyes, which also adds to her innocence and purity. Personality wise, she has shown to be a noble, compassionate, caring and empathetic character who has managed to show kindness to villains like Klaus. She is also TheCutie, someone who is very loveable and endearing and ThePollyanna and the PluckyGirl, someone who has endured a lot of pain, suffering and tragedy yet has remained hopeful and optimistic regardless.
* InnocentBlueEyes: To match her HairOfGold. Her eyes are very clear, innocent and honest, indicating a kind, noble, caring and compassionate person.

* MotorMouth: Sometimes when Camille gets going, she can't stop. Especially when it is something that she is either worried about, anxious about, passionate about or excited about. Cami will also go into her rants about psychobabble or she will also tend to keep talking when she is telling off Klaus for his behaviour. She is very similar to Caroline in this aspect.
* MsFanservice: Cami is blonde, intelligent, very beautiful and physically appealing. Although not the busty blonde type, she is more of the NiceGirl, TheCutie, and NerdsAreSexy all rolled into one.
* MuggleBestFriend: Could be considered this to Klaus. Klaus is a very powerful Original Hybrid (who is half vampire and half werewolf) who has superhuman abilities and Camille is a regular human girl who has no superhuman abilities.
* NaiveEverygirl: Cami has shown that she is highly naive and idealistic in nature especially during the beginning. At the start, she believed that nobody was truly or purely evil in the world and that everybody was capable of goodness. She starts to become much more pragmatic as the series progresses because of everything that she has been through.
* NerdsAreSexy: Camille is very beautiful and she is also a {{Bookworm}} and a BadassBookworm all rolled into one. She is a psychology major sand she also studies and reads a lot, indicating a highly nerdy and scholarly personality. Despite the fact that she is TheSmartGirl who is a nerd, she is also appealing as she has managed to attract the attention of and gain the affections of both Marcel and Klaus. Klaus has also shown that it is Cami's mind and intelligence that he is strongly attracted to as well as her tenacity and her spirit.
* NiceGirl: The nicest girl in the series. She is also the TokenHuman and TheHeart of the show. Cami is kind, caring, emotional and compassionate. She manages to try to see the good in Klaus, someone who has consistently shown to commit endless immoral and evil acts. Cami also serves as a MoralityPet for Klaus, as she has been seen to bring out the much softer and kinder side of Klaus.
* NonActionGuy: Cami is shown to not be much into fighting or combat. She depends on her intelligence and her brains to survive. She would also rather resort to using diplomatic tactics and ways in order to achieve her goal instead of resorting to violence of any sort. She seems to be the opposite of Klaus in this aspect, who frequently uses combat, violence or force to achieve his mission or goals.
* OnlySaneWoman: Out of all of the characters in the series and as the only TokenHuman, it is understandable why Cami would be considered the most sane and rational out of all of the characters. She is also practical and intelligent as well and depends on her brains in order to survive.
* PlatonicLifePartners: With Klaus. Despite originally being "against" Klaus because of his bad behaviour and the horrible things he has done, Cami has proven to have become a very good and reliable friend to Klaus. She is always there for him whenever he needs to talk or whether he needs come kind of comfort, advice or support. When Klaus feels like he has nowhere or no one else to go to, he shows that he trusts Cami and turns to her when he really needs to. Cami has been shown to be a good listener and although she's initially untrusting and skeptical of Klaus because of what and who he is and is reluctant to get closer to him, once Klaus opened up her eyes and exposed to her his dark past which was filled with pain and dysfunction, Cami began to see Klaus in a different light and began to understand where Klaus was coming from and why he managed to turn out the way that he did. In some ways, Cami has become somewhat of a therapist for Klaus, someone whom Klaus can come to and turn to whenever he needs toy get something off his chest. Cami also serves as TheConscience and a MoralityPet for Klaus, someone who calls him out on his immoral behaviour and reminds him of when he is doing something wrong or when he has crossed the moral line. However, it seems as though Klaus and Cami are platonic and are friends, there might be some mutual romantic feelings between the two of them as Klaus has shown that he has a very big soft spot for Cami and he got very jealous and upset when he discovered that Cami had engaged in a sexual relationship with his enemy Marcel. Cami, on the other hand, has always been drawn to Klaus on some level deep down, despite the fact that she tries to hide it and deny it. Stops being platonic in season 3.
* PluckyGirl: Despite all of the pain and tragedy that she is endured, she has managed to still think as positively as she can. She is also shown to be someone who is rather naive, idealistic and optimistic. She's strong, passionate, enthusiastic and opinionated and never hesitates to speak her mind and stand up for what she believes in. She also has no problem in standing up to Klaus and telling him when he is in the wrong.
* ThePollyanna: Camille is strong willed and optimistic, despite all of the pain, tragedy and suffering that she has endured.

The first one being Elijah who promised her his mother's spell book but only gives her a few pages and his original plan was to only have her learn a few spells so that she could use a spell that would break the spell that linked Haley to Sophie, but they are able to convince Sophie to do it herself. Also, Elijah was using exact words to postpone giving her the whole book and even then, it is not clear if he was ever going to give it to her at all or he was going to but was sidetracked by everything going on at the time. Either way he gets punished for his dishonesty by Davina causing him to choke on his own blood.
* TheChosenOne: Davina is the key to the Harvest, a ritual that will ensure the witches reconnect with their ancestors' spirits and will thereby enhance their powers. However, Davina has to die for the Harvest to be completed.
* CuteWitch: A pretty, powerful witch and the youngest of the main characters. She can qualify as a HotWitch since she's in her late teens.

She gained this power by involuntarily absorbing the power of the three Witch girls that were slaughtered in the Harvest Ritual right before Marcel took her away. She effortlessly beats Klaus and Elijah, making the former start to turn into a wolf against his will and making the latter choke on a thousand years' worth of blood. She then knocks them out.
** Despite being reduced to a "normal" witch, she is still high in power, being stronger than Kaleb, and Klaus still considers her powerful.
* ScrewDestiny: The reason she helps Marcel keep the Witches in line. She was chosen to sacrifice herself along with three other girls in a Harvest Ritual that was to keep the New Orleans Witches in contact with their Ancestral Magic. Though they downplayed the killing part, it was supposed to lead to their resurrection. Though such a promise means little in the face of traumatic slaughter with no real guarantee they'd come back alive, so you could imagine her reasons for fighting that fate once she learned the truth.
* SugarAndIcePersonality: Though she often appears aloof and cold, she has been shown to soften around people she knows better (especially Marcel, her childhood friend Tim, and Josh).
* TookALevelInJerkass: She understandably becomes colder and more ruthless after three seasons of power-plays and temporary alliances with the Originals, Marcel and his crew and the other witches.
