* FreudianExcuse: She was implied to have been starving to death by the time she made a DealWithTheDevil, and said starvation was also the reason why she did in the first place.

* DecadentCourt: Maybe. They're clearly up to something, but they're also extremely incompetent at their jobs.

* CorruptBureaucrat: Of Vesuvia's ruling class, while also arrogant, incompetent, probably evil and more than a little stupid.

Unfortunately, dealing with someone as self-centered as [[ItsAllAboutMe Lucio]], [[RealityEnsues Nadia could do very little and quickly became disillusioned, eventually falling into a depression.]] ]]

* RealityEnsues: Lucio is not as impressive as he thinks he is. [[spoiler: For example, after coming BackFromTheDead in Book XVI, he's ''shocked'' to learn that his previous death had annulled both his marriage to Nadia and status as Count.]]
** Lucio’s past really comes back to haunt him [[spoiler: (literally, in the case of Morga)]] in his own route, where he begins to face the consequences of his reckless deals.

Though she's regretful, she decides that the only way to resolve the situation is to hunt him down and [[OffingTheOffspring kill him.]][[spoiler: Unfortunately, in Muriel's Route, she hesitated when she was about to land the killing blow when Lucio called her "Mama", and Lucio killed her first.]] In Lucio's Route, during the Masquerade when Vulgora goes on a rampage in the palace, after Lucio and The Apprentice get away with Morga's help one of the options to Lucio's question is [[ToughLove "Because she's your Mom".]]

[[spoiler: When choosing the paid option during the conversation with Morga about why she was calling her son a liar. She tells about what REALLY happened in Lucio's story from earlier about how he had scared off a Muskbear when he had been a child, and how she NEVER told anyone otherwise, not even her son. But is called out by The Apprentice that SHE was the liar, because Morga hadn't told anyone the truth about what HAPPENED. So thus, how can she call her son a liar when he was unaware of what she had done? Translation: Honestly Morga, hypocrite much?!]].

* BadLiar: When Nadia tells the Apprentice she wants Julian killed for his crimes, Portia drops her plate in shock and quickly tries to cover it up. Also, when Julian and the Apprentice are in the library, she tries to stall Nadia by pretending to put in the wrong key, to Nadia's growing confusion.
