* NiceCharacterMeanActor: While calling Zeke in the game "nice" might be a stretch, [[https://www.reddit.com/r/survivor/comments/690kgg/interview_with_queen_sandra_in_spanish/dh36f2s/ a Skype chat with Sandra]] revealed that Zeke said some pretty cruel things to Andrea during their fight. When Andrea asked, "What would our friends at home think of you treating me like this?" he responded, "They don't like you very much anyways". ''Ouch''.

* CryCute: The poor girl breaks down in tears at having to vote out Zeke.

* EpicFail: The first contestant who managed to upset his fellow tribe so much he got himself effectively '''[[UpToEleven expelled]]''' from the game for misconduct, having done something so taboo that nobody needed to cast votes for him to make it clear they wanted him off the island.

* TragicMistake: "Why haven't you told anyone you were transgender?" Whatever chance he had of surviving the vote was undone by those eight little words. This is because Jeff assumed Zeke had already made this public, but then Zeke confides that in the two seasons he's been on Survivor, he told ''nobody''. That's when Jeff realizes he made a huge mistake. As a result, a quick voice vote was held and Probst decided there was no need to actually vote, eliminating Varner on the spot- because the rest of the tribe was ''[[UpToEleven that]]'' clearly unified in getting rid of him.

* BadassMustache: Still has that mustache, and still pulling power moves like eliminating Sandra.

* HistoryRepeatsItself: Like last time, he gotten eliminated on Day Nine.

* WorldOfCardboardSpeech: Delivered a pretty epic one after recovering from his HeroicBSOD at Tribal.

* OneDegreeofSeparation: He competed with Brad, the husband of fellow ''One World'' castmate Monica.

* GoOutWithASmile: Describing her as a GracefulLoser is an understatement.

* FiveManBand (Post Tribe Swap)
** TheLeader: Brad. The most effective one in challenges so far, and the one that comes up with most of the tribe's plans.
** TheLancer: Sierra. Second best player, and the one that converses with Brad the most.
** [[TheSmartGuy The Smart Girl]][=/=]TheChick: Hali. Law Student, and the only original female of the Mana tribe.
** TheHeart: Tai. Nuff said.
** [[TheSmartGuy The Smart Girl]]: Debbie. Eccentric, but pretty smart.
** TheBigGuy [=/=] SacrificialLion: Caleb. Strong guy, but it was the reason he was voted out early.

* FiveManBand: For their new lineup:
** BigBad: Sandra, the leader of the Mana Alliance who wants to maintain her position as Queen of Survivor.
** TheDragon: Malcolm, the strongest challenge performer on the tribe. Ironically, he is also the SacrificialLion and the TokenGoodTeammate.
** TheEvilGenius: Jeff Varner, who has proven his worth as a skilled strategist.
** TheBrute: Michaela, the third-strongest challenge competitor on the tribe, but the one with the least self-control.
** TheDarkChick: Aubry, who is aligned with them, but not particularly hostile.
** TokenGoodTeammate / TheStarscream: JT (the only original Nuku member on the tribe), who is on the bottom and trying to topple Sandra. JT also shares TokenGoodTeammate with Malcolm. Of course JT's "good" is more edited and very much a case of NiceCharacterMeanActor in especially after Sandra reveals they DID eat a baby goat, whereas Malcolm's is far more genuine.

* FiveManBand
** TheLeader: Ozzy. Given that he's played the game four times right now, and is the main provider for the tribe.
** TheLancer: Cirie. She's a fourth time player like Ozzy but prefers to use mental and social skills over physical skills.
** [[TheSmartGuy The Smart Girl]]: Andrea.
** [[TheBigGuy The Big Girl]]: Sarah. She's the strongest female on the tribe. Fitting since she was on the Brawn tribe in ''Cagayan''.
** TagAlongKid: Zeke. Given that he is playing the game two times in a row, and has the least experience out of them.
** SixthRanger: Troyzan. Only Mana member in a tribe with five Nuku members

* {{Adorkable}}: Who would have thought Brad Culpepper was into interior decorating and antiquing? And then there are his little moments of gushing about his wife.

* TookALevelInKindness: Not that Brad was necessarily mean before, but this season is showing a more affable, open-minded, and rather {{Adorkable}} side to him, which is endearing him to his tribe.

* TheReveal: He's ''trans''. In his debut season, Zeke had never made this public, leading everyone to assume that he's cis. Unfortunately, Varner did a background check on him and went public with it, leading to one of the most controversial moments on the show and primetime television in a serious question of morality. That's because what Varner did wasn't just going to have an effect on Zeke in the game, but a permanent, damaging effect on Zeke's private life as a normal human being that could ''never'' be undone.

* TooCleverByHalf: It never occurred to Sandra that one day people might catch on to her {{Metagame}} and she should try to switch it up (because if it ain't broke, don't fix it, right? WRONG!) People noticed Sandra is TheCharmer who uses {{Charisma}} to sweet-talk people into following her lead and deliberately plays AffablyEvil so that she appears harmless but can take you down if you aren't watching your back and only goes after people who have wronged her so these actions appear justified and the target stays off her back. And for the very first time, they cracked her strategy- the end result of putting a ton of savvy people together who could collectively decode her facade.

* TragicHero: This is ultimately his story. He came into the game as the only player to play a perfect game in a previous season, but his trusting nature destroyed his tribe in his second season. He came back this season, having failed to learn his lesson, thus making a TragicMistake in trusting the Mana tribe that leads to his only ally being voted out. Once again, JT fails to learn his lesson and doesn't even take his immunity idol to Tribal Council, taking his enemy Sandra at her word that she would vote out Michaela, but getting blindsided instead.

* EtTuBrute: He's betrayed by JT, despite being JT's only friend on the new Nuku tribe, and he takes it hard.

* BadassGrandpa: He's not actually a grandfather - however, he's in his fifties, making him the oldest person out there, and is very physically capable. He even won immunity in episode ten, over the younger and more physically fit players.

* BadassGrandpa: At 52, he beat Ozzy in an immunity challenge he had won twice before.

* YouAreBetterThanYouThinkYouAre: As evidenced in episode ten, where the whole tribe rallied behind her and encouraged her to finish the reward challenge, even though she felt she couldn't do it. [[CrowningMomentOfHeartwarming But thanks to their belief in her, she did]].

* FiveBadBand: For their new lineup:

* DarkSecret: Told absolutely nobody outside his closest inner circle at home that he was once a woman. Varner blew the lid off that one and left him feeling so sickened that he froze up for a while, and the rest of the tribe immediately rushed to his aid.

* TheReveal: He's not really clear-cut gay. He's ''trans'', and he's retained the preference for men he had as a woman. In his debut season, we were led to believe he's just a gay man, as Zeke had never made it public about his sex change operation.
