Their initial meeting (based on the tale of Robin Hood and Little John's first encounter) resulted in a fight that went on for fifty hours, ''still'' without a clear victor, and it was all started because they met each other going different ways on a rope bridge that was too small for either of them to pass the other, and neither one of them wanted to go back the way they came (the bridge is so long it takes days to cross). Fortunately, the two buried the hatchet when circumstances forced them into TeethClenchedTeamwork, and the Scotsman became Jack's best friend and ally in the future.

* NoodleIncident: It's never made clear how the Scotsman got to the position of "most wanted man on the planet" (before Jack came along). It's not a ''surprise'', mind you, it's just not explained.

* ObiWanMoment: [[spoiler:The Scotsman delivers a BadassBoast to Aku before getting struck down and bravely accepting his death. Fittingly, just like Obi-Wan, he comes back stronger as a spirit]].

The fact that he's wheelchair-bound and needs the assistance of one of his daughters to move quickly, [[spoiler:as well as how quickly Aku eliminates him, drives that point home. Likewise, no matter how large or badass your army, that does little good against a NighInvulnerable EldritchAbomination that they have no means of actually harming.]]

* ComplainingAboutRescuesTheyDontLike: Might as well be the poster child for the trope. When her husband comes along with Jack to rescue her from the Celtic demons, all she does is nag, complain, and whine about every little thing they do. As a bonus, she does it so loudly, that any hope Jack and the Scotsman had of escaping via stealth is dashed, they are captured by the Celtic demon swarm, and had the lead Celtic demon not made the mistake of calling her [[BerserkButton "fat,"]] Jack and the Scotsman, who were being worn down by a massive ZergRush would have been killed, and she would have been "sacrificed." Though thats assuming she wouldnt have gotten involved if things got serious, since the episode is mostly PlayedForLaughs, and the Scotsman and Jack never end up worse than "slightly tired".

* InsistentTerminology: "I am not fat! ''I'm stout''!"

Additionally, said magic from the sword also empowered the Scotsman's spirit, giving him the ability to harm Aku with his music, Which means retroactively, his sword ''did'' have the power to harm Aku]].

* IncorruptiblePurePureness: An ... unconventional example. In Episode 7, when he finally meets the Sirens, he’s not even a little tempted by their hypnotic song and remains devoted to his wife. This arguably makes him more noble than Jack, as even the titular samurai couldn’t resist them.

* NoAccountingForTaste: The Scotsman's wife is anything but beautiful, well-mannered, or the type of girl most men would want, yet he fell in love with her. To be fair, the Scotsman is hardly beautiful, well-mannered, or the type of guy most women would want either.

* DamselOutOfDistress: She had to be rescued by Jack and the Scotsman, but was somehow still capable of destroying the same army that captured her and were about to defeat the two men. Why she couldn't (or wouldn't) save herself earlier [[{{Headscratchers/Headscratchers}} is anyone's guess]], but it was likely due to the RuleOfFunny.

* OverlyLongGag: When the Scotsman introduces them to Jack, it takes almost twenty full seconds to list them all. One might need a dialogue transcript or a TV recording with the captions turned on to keep track of them being named in rapid sequence, or even understand their Celtic names at all (some of which are pretty challenging to pronounce), and coupled with the Scotsman's thick burr of an accent, good luck.
** The scene is also a CallBack, as the way he cheerfully lists off the names of his daughters is edited together in the same way he listed off a long list of colourful insults about Jack's dress and mannerisms when the two first met.
