* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome: Kanpachi is buried alive for days with no air, let alone food and water. Hachidai rightfully points out that there was no chance of him being alive upon their return to the mine...yet that doesn't deter Rokusuke from going to try and dig him up anyway, only for him to get caught by the Kurosuki Family and almost suffer the same fate.

* EvilGloating: Tells Natsuhi and Naruto that he murdered the Third Hoshikage for refusing to allow the star training and later gleefully admits so to the ''entire village'' under the justification that it was the only way to save their village. [[SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome It immediately blows up in his face.]]

* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome: Both are imprisoned and subjected to harsh punishment along with their ringleader for helping him in the Hoshikage assassination. This goes to show that having a pocketful of standards regarding your actions will most certainly not diminish your culpability in them. It doesn't help that both initially tried to cover their asses when the other Hoshi-nin turned on them plus being easily browbeaten by Akahoshi into going along with his plans.

* HonorBeforeReason: He acknowledged that the star training was doing harm and banned it, but couldn't risk destroying the star in order to maintain his people's faith in his authority. As Akahoshi and his followers demonstrated, [[SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome he couldn't sway ''everyone''.]]

* NearVillainVictory: He is one of the few villains closest; Just as Fukusuke is inches from winning the race to claim the harbor for the Wagarashi and disband the Wasabi family, Idate passes Fukusuke for the first and only time during the race and wins for the Wasabi. yūroku and the Minister try one last time to help Fukusuke win by faking the disqualification that Idate was riding on Naruto's back partway, but the Daimyo exposes their plot.

The daimyo of the Land of Vegetables, she's the legitimate heir to the title after her father was killed by invaders. She's introduced in disguise as a travelling peddler named "Shin" as part of efforts to protect her true identity, as well as having a very cynical outlook on life.

* CompressedHair: When disguised as "Shin," she's able to keep her hair, which goes down past her shoulders, stuffed underneath a peddler's cap.

* NearVillainVictory: He is one of the few villains closest; Just as Fukusuke is inches from winning the race to claim the harbor for the Wagarashi and disband the Wasabi family, Idate passes Fukusuke for the first and only time during the race and wins for the Wasabi.

* DarkChick: Kujaku is a textbook example, getting a DesignatedGirlFight with Temari before Shikamaru and Ino arrive as backup.

* BadassBaritone: Has a deep and commanding voice.

* TheComicallySerious: Parodied with Kiyoyasu. His [[BadassBaritone deep voice]] combined his flower schnozz gag almost makes Naruto blow it. He calls it [[IncrediblyLamePun hay fever.]]

* LaserGuidedKarma: Tried to frame Idate for cheating partway through the race[[note]]Riding on Naruto's shoulders due to being poisoned by Aoi earlier.[[/note]] and bribed the minister in order to dissolve the Wasabi. It blows up spectacularly when the daimyō intercedes and admonishes them for trying to fake a disqualification and reveals the bribery for all to see. The minister is subsequently stripped of his power and ordered to become a Buddhist monk whereas Kyūroku is forced to disband ''his'' family, leaving the Wasabi as the permanent rulers of Port Degarashi.

* OneHundredPercentAdorationRating: The Tea citizens appear to have no complaints about Jirōchō or his family's rule, at least in comparison to the [[TheMafia Wagarashi]].

The last member of the Kurama Clan, whose Bloodline Limit allows them to cast extremely powerful genjutsu. A girl of Naruto's age who wanted to be a ninja, but was unable to due to being born with a frail body. She was briefly tutored by Kurenai, but Kurenai didn't have much hopes in Yakumo being a ninja by using only genjutsu, and she ended up sealing away her powers by the Third Hokage's orders since he was aware that the Kurama Clan's Bloodline Limit often resulted in a SuperpoweredEvilSide.

* OffModel: The tint to her hair repeatedly changes from violet (as pictured above) and gray.

* SlapstickKnowsNoGender: Her first important scene ends with some candy getting stuck to her backside, much to her embarrassment.[[note]]She fell on it after Naruto broke loose from her chakra strings. He was mistaken for a thief.[[/note]]

* AmbiguousDisorder: There's almost certainly something wrong with him, being called [[YoureInsane insane]] by his fellow villagers once the truth of his crimes comes out after he gleefully brags about killing the previous Hoshikage. It isn't well explored, but his desire for power and recognition is clearly displayed throughout his appearance plus his lack of respect for life, his own people included, shows signs of clinical sociopathy. Note that he always talks about honoring "[[ExactWords the village]]", but never "the people".

* YoureInsane: Is called this twice by one of the jōnin of Hoshi upon his crimes being exposed, and that was before he fused the star into himself. As explained in AmbiguousDisorder, the man shows tell-tale signs of clinical sociopathy.
