* NeverMyFault: He refuses to believe that he did anything wrong, and that everybody would have made the same choice he did if placed in a similar situation (prioritise not only their own lives and their livelihood over the life of someone else). Chloe points out that he was vilified not because he chose to save himself, but because he went back for his computer but Carlisle ignores this. When his second victim, a surgeon, chooses to damage her hand and therefore ruin her career, he decides that she only did that because she was being observed by the police and changes the situation of the experiment simply to try and prove that he was right.

When Chloe and Lucifer find him, he then releases a poisonous gas in the room in order to prove that she would choose capturing him over risking her life to save the two victims, oblivious to how this is a completely different situation to the one he went through and what he forced others to experience.

Foils need to interact with eachother. Lilith and Eve never meet in the show itself, and it's implied that they've never met period.

* {{Foil}}: To Eve. Both are the first women in humanity's history (Lilith the first one created, Eve humanity's first ancestor) and were both married to the first man (Adam). While Lilith hated Adam and left of her own accord [[TheOneThatGotAway leaving Adam pining for her company again]], Eve worked incredibly hard to please Adam but could never measure up. Both are hedonists, but while Lilith is like this out of apathy towards humanity and Heaven's laws, Eve does it because she grew bored with Heaven's virtuousness and wants to try modern delights. While it is implied that Lucifer and Lilith were completely platonic and parted affably, Eve and Lucifer were lovers and that excess drove them apart.
** To Lucifer. They are both Biblical immortals with strong connections with Hell (he was its king, her children its subjects), are hedonists, have an apathetic opinion towards children and they both find regular humans equal parts infuriating and fascinating, this fascination causing both of them to go through figurative and literal metamorphoses (Lucifer's [[ClapYourHandsIfYouBelieve self-actualizing]] affecting his powers, Lilith deciding to become mortal).

* LackOfEmpathy: Deconstructed and then reconstructed. He truly loves his children and cares about all living beings, even demons like Maze. But being omniscient and omnipresent means he can't truly connect with anyone on a personal level, and he can't truly understand them either, because they're ''not'' omniscient and omnipresent. Combined with his DissonantSerenity, he comes off as apathetic and smug to his children and doesn't understand why they have issues with him. It is not until he spends time as a fallible, non-omniscient human that he starts to experience a wider spectrum of feelings: the excitement of uncertainty, taste and digestion, fear of death, unpleasantness of physical pain and experiencing shock at his son's Devil-face firsthand. This allows him to realize how his behaviors have affected others, and he apologizes to his wife and sons and tells them he loves them before [[ButNowIMustGo leaving with his ex-wife to her universe]], deciding it's time he let her be in charge for a while.

* HeManWomanHater: His views on women are rather backwards, insisting that men should have control over women and regarding Eve's impending wedding to Maze as a cry for help. This is unsurprising since standards for how men should behave have evolved considerably since Adam was alive; both Lilith and Eve were literally created for him but until Linda set him straight he didn't see any reason to change.

This is unsurprising since standards for how men should behave have evolved considerably since Adam was alive; both Lilith and Eve were literally created for him but until and he was the first human being on Earth, so he set a lot of standards for behavior to follow, and then he spent the millennia since in Heaven. Linda set finally sets him straight he didn't see any reason that society on Earth has changed, including what it means to change.be a ''real'' man.

Added DiffLines:

* RatedMForManly: The show directly addresses his behavior as toxic masculinity, and deconstructs it. Adam is handsome, proud, and believes Eve belongs to him since she was created by God to be his wife, but deep down he knows that Eve has changed and he wants to change to be a better husband for her. Once Lucifer draws out his true desire, he spills that when he was first created, life was simple and he knew his place in the world, but now life is complicated, he doesn't know his place, and men are expected to be complex individuals able to show vulnerability, and that frightens him.

* AlternativeCharacterInterpretation: InUniverse. The only information we have on him is from his family, mainly Lucifer and Amenadiel, who both have their own ideas on what he's like: Lucifer thinks he's a sanctimonious JerkassGod while Amenadiel has a more favorable opinion of him. Though in Season 2, Amenadiel, while still not agreeing with Lucifer on the subject, admits that he has come to see that their father has a tendency to overreact.

* GodIsFlawed: GodIsGood, yes, but he's also this, and it is hard for him to admit it. His primary flaw is that he tries not to interfere with matters between his children, both because he's God and he respects free will, and also because he's a father and wants them to be able to live their own lives. However, he's also omniscient and truly wants what's best for them, so he will interfere in subtle ways to nudge them into a place he believes will be better for them, even if it takes a while for them to get to that point because he plays the long game. This causes his children to view him as a ManipulativeBastard who toys with their lives behind the screens and refuses to help them or give them answers when they confront him directly, and he doesn't seem to realize that his conflicting behaviors are why they hate him and are the cause of many of their personality flaws.
