The primary team of the Alliance, responsible for all major operations.
!!General Tropes:
-----
* BarrierMaiden: The dorms in their base reveal that they've been christened the Guardians of their elements.
* LosingTheTeamSpirit: [[spoiler: After they finish their ten-year training, it's implied the team has fallen apart somewhat, with only Shuu, Rufaro, and Ducasse readily available to contact after Chris dumps the interns into the future.]]
* PutOnABus: [[spoiler: Ineur sends the team into hiding so that they can train in safety for ten years. While we do meet the team (or at least [[LosingTheTeamSpirit what's left]] of them) after this period following Chris's temporal displacement of the interns, the game almost immediately cuts back to the present day to focus on the Dane Gang.]]

[[folder: Team Varia]]
The Alliance's secondary team, though seemingly in-name only. Nonetheless, they band together with the interns to help stop a new threat in the cities... an operation that goes [[FromBadToWorse horribly, horribly wrong.]]
!!General Tropes:
-----
* GoneHorriblyWrong: Their first mission without Team Dimensionia [[spoiler: results in severe damage to the timestream, Varia itself subject to UncertainDoom, and the interns temporally displaced. It's also implied that if [[NiceJobBreakingItHero Reggie wasn't screwing around, they could've prevented all of this.]]]]
* RagtagBunchOfMisfits: There's no real bond between them at all, likely only existing out of seniority.
* UncertainDoom: [[spoiler:They've been kidnapped by Chris Crox (barring Esteban Finlay) and it's unknown what he plans to do with them over the course of ten years.]]
-----
!!Jay Lucero
TheLeader of the team, but a figurehead nonetheless. Is outspoken by pretty much everyone.
-----
* AnimeHair: Yellow with orange tips, and quite spiky.
* ButtMonkey: If he wasn't wearing the basic Alliance uniform, it'd be incredibly difficult to believe that his powers originate from the Aether element - he's constantly outspoken by his own teammates to the point where Zecon Vermeil, an intern, can order people around better than he can. Making matters worse is the fact that [[PlayboyBunny Vis]], of all people, helps the latter out in that task.
* DeathFromAbove: His powers involve stellar light and meteors.
* PlayingWithFire: In a way different from Agni, which has the ground combusting as he razes it with stellar light and meteors from above.
* SuperSpeed: In lieu of a primary attack, he can instead dash to wherever you direct him at a high speed.
-----
!!Alaric Palisade
A KnightErrant dedicated to preventing potential enemies from invoking OutsideContextProblem, but seemingly only on his terms. Carries a spear that functions as a power conduit for Narukami abilities.
-----
* TheFaceless: Wears a mask and hood that darken his facial features.
* HumiliationConga: [[spoiler: He has never succeeded in any of his depicted tasks; he failed to protect Shuu from Zam and, as of Act 69, the Alliance and possibly the world itself from the Cartel.]]
* KnightErrant: Officially a part of Varia, but spends a lot of time alone and away from standard operations.
* KnightTemplar: Shows shades of this, to the point where he activates his SuperMode when the Alliance won't give in to his demands and attacks them at maximum power. Part of the reason he also attacks Zam is because he's afraid of losing his job to a puppet, rather than what's right or wrong.
* ShockAndAwe: His abilities are, as a Narukami user, electric-based and focus on manipulating electric fields.
* SuperMode: "Angelo Electricco," which grants him [[PowerGivesYouWings energy wings]] and allows him to briefly stun targets with a static field whenever he lands an attack. His fight starts him off permanently ascended into this mode.
* VaguenessIsComing: Initially warns the team of Annencio Petrin before his identity is revealed, though with absolutely no hints as to who or what is coming.
-----
!!Reggie Pereskia
A swindler and gambler - to a [[BewareTheNiceOnes dangerous extent.]] Wields cactus-themed Helios abilities in combat.
-----
* ForWantOfANail: [[spoiler: Pretty much dooms the entire world after accidentally crashing Studdton's economy, allowing the [=KeidoCorp=] and by extension the Cartel to move in.]]
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: [[spoiler: Crashing Studdton's economy allowed the corrupt, time-breaking Cartel and its front company [=KeidoCorp=] to move in and wreak havoc on the world.]]
* ImprobableWeaponUser: His powers are conducted through what appears to be a basic crystal shard or cactus spike.
-----
!!Gardi Nakara
A [[OurGhostsAreDifferent long-deceased]] Haze warrior with a MysteriousPast. Wields a spellbook that slings spiritual energy at the enemy in combat.
-----
* MysteriousPast: Has something to do with [[spoiler:Xor]] in his origin, but cannot disclose it under threat of RetGone.
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: Seizes up and becomes scared shitless whenever he encounters [[spoiler:Xor]], since one slip of the tongue could equal death for him.
* OurGhostsAreDifferent: Long dead, but seemingly looks and behaves like a normal living human.
* RetGone: If Gardi ever reveals anything about his past to another person, [[spoiler:Xor]] will do this to him. ''At minimum.''
* SpellBook: Uses one to release actual ghosts and spiritual energy in combat.
-----
!!Diablo Bufon
An irritable Stratus user who is constantly [[ButtMonkey picked on by Gardi and Keith.]] Wields a variety of weapons in combat.
-----
* ButtMonkey: Gardi frequently does cruel things to him just to see the look on his face, and ever since Keith found out about his nodachi they've been at each other's throats.
* DisneyDeath: Mentions dying once and coming back to life after talking to Akuma. Gardi hid all of this from the Alliance as a joke.
* GivingTheSwordToANoob: Keith certainly thinks Diablo doesn't deserve the nodachi they once fought over, to the point that the latter loses it in Act 32 to form Keith's arsenal.
* InferioritySuperiorityComplex: Believes himself to be better than Gardi and Keith, but frequently complains about how they're always stepping all over his accomplishments.
-----
!!Django Haplorhini
A Flux user who is initially encountered as a [[{{Cloudcuckoolander}} gibbering moron]] BrainwashedAndCrazy under Annencio Petrin. Even after getting better, he's still not the most fun to talk to. Releases bursts of raw energy in combat.
-----
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: Initially encountered in this state courtesy of Annencio Petrin. Freeing him initially does nothing for his [[{{Cloudcuckoolander}} personality]] until Rhine-XLV's sheer stupidity snaps him out of it.
* CaptainObvious: A recurring problem he has following the restoration of his original personality.
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: When he initially joins the team, he can only speak in [[NoIndoorVoice loud]], snappy remarks more akin to a small child's. After dealing with Rhine-XLV, it turns out a PuppeteerParasite was forcing him into that state.
* PuppeteerParasite: Apparently had one lodged in his brain, causing his initial persona, which died simply because of how stupid Rhine-XLV was.
-----
!!Esteban Finlay
The last of Varia's members to fully debut, Esteban is an Agni user who seems to work alone. He is initially encountered in the wilds, far from home or even Varia's original mission to stop [=KeidoCorp=], and has attacks centered around charging and releasing massive amounts of energy.
-----
* DiscOneNuke: His reworked abilities used to be absurdly effective against most bosses until being quickly nerfed.
* {{Expy}}: Used to be one of [[Anime/DragonBallZ Goku]] until a rework changed his abilities.
* IWorkAlone: To the point where when he finally appears in the story, he seems to have absolutely nothing to do with his teammates or the interns.
* LockedOutOfTheLoop: Seems to know nothing about [[spoiler: the fate of his teammates or his underlings.]]
* SuperSerum: Carries around a trace amount of one simply called "Vigor Blood." Depending on a vote held on the server, he'll administer it to either Avaxus or Lisuke Higashikata.
-----
[[/folder]]
[[folder: Dane Gang]]
A group of Alliance interns who have seemingly defected from the group due to constantly feeling left out, with the only mission opportunities lying within two of Varia's teammates who, needless to say, are not fun to be bossed around by. They start small, but recruit powerful allies to their side as the story progresses.
!!General Tropes:
-----
* TheAlcoholic: Sir Venon briefly implies they're all [[TroublingUnchildlikeBehavior heavy drinkers]] before Chester stops him and points out that [[MediumAwareness they're in a game platform ostensibly meant for kids.]] Venon himself also carries a seemingly unlimited amount of booze (or [[GettingCrapPastTheRadar simply liquid from a bottle]], if you will) as [[spoiler: an adult, using it to power his backpack and keep his energy up.]]
* DesperatelyLookingForAPurposeInLife: Why they were formed. [[spoiler: They get one as Nick Nebula is forced to use them to help save the world.]]
* InadequateInheritor: At first, when [[spoiler: the disappearance of everyone in the Alliance but them automatically relegates control to the group, Nick realizes that there's no way in hell he can save a world with them. However, as Avaxus, Ivan, and a bunch of other new allies join their cause, the Gang ultimately subverts this.]]
* TroublingUnchildlikeBehavior: Despite being minors like the rest of the Alliance, Sir Venon briefly implies that they're all TheAlcoholic. [[spoiler: They outgrow this trope eventually.]]
-----
!!Dane Vine
The leader of the Dane Gang, named after himself. Wields a viridian katana that uses the power of Narukami to shove around others in combat.
-----
* CharacterDevelopment: Starts off outspoken and weak, but after being entrusted with the role of [[spoiler: savior of the world]], he becomes much bolder and assertive, acquiring the bravado needed to lead the team.
* KatanasAreJustBetter: All of his attacks are channeled through one.
* RealityEnsues: Nearly faints in the desert as a PlantPerson, until Chester Chai gives him some "pizza water" which rejuvenates him back to full health.
* PlantPerson: Has a venus flytrap for a head.
-----
!!Sir Venon
A DJ and NiceGuy who supports allies with Stratus-empowered soundwaves in the field.
-----
* AnimeHair: Despite his model indicating otherwise, [[https://www.roblox.com/catalog/430062818/Stylish-Purple-Hair he does in fact have a full head of purple hair underneath the hat.]]
* BreakingTheFourthWall: Randomly criticizes Anatis Kirche over his {{Leitmotif}}, to Nick Nebula's dismay.
* DrunkenMaster: Aside from the implication that he and the rest of the Gang are TheAlcoholic, [[spoiler: his kit as an adult involves drinking very liberal amounts of what is probably booze from a bottle, and dumping it into his backpack to supercharge it.]]
* MusicalAssassin: All of his abilities are sound-based.
* NiceGuy: Much more humble than Dane or Chester, that's for sure.
* NiceHat: A top hat with crystals poking out of it.
-----
!!Chester Chai
A loud, boastful, and childish Agni user who fights with a BreathWeapon in combat.
-----
* BreathWeapon: All of his abilities revolve around breathing fire and channeling the pent-up energy required to use it.
* SmallNameBigEgo: Thinks himself as leader of the interns despite being part of the Dane Gang. Moreover, the introduction of Zecon Vermeil essentially made him the de facto leader of the interns later on.

Here's the list of all the characters included in Devil Beater. Characters who have yet to debut in the game itself will not be listed.

[[folder:Team Dimensonia]]
!!Cielo De La Asad
[[quoteright:350:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/godlysinha.PNG]]
Team Dimensonia's leader, son of the BigGood, user of Aether.

*AIBreaker: A commonly exploited tactic during Act 40's battle against [[spoiler:Xenon Karambit]] is to use Cielo's basic attack to glitch himself onto the roof of the map. Because of the way [[spoiler:Xenon's]] teleport attack works and the fact that anything in ROBLOX that goes beyond a certain Y-coordinate gets destroyed instantly, Cielo has the ability to [[{{OneHitKill}} instantly kill]] [[spoiler:Xenon]] by ''throwing him into the void below the map.''
*AwesomeButImpractical: Being the leader of Team Dimensonia and one of the only characters to wield an artifact in battle, Cielo's potential is unparalleled by other characters. However, because of his low health and his attacks requiring him to get up close and personal with enemies, this usually results in him getting downed before he can deal significant damage.
*BilingualBonus: ''Cielo De La Asad'' is spanish for ''"Sky of the Lion"''.
*ImprobableWeaponUser: Cielo's weapon of choice (and one of the artifacts) is a can of cola. According to the WordOfGod, the soda itself is a catalyst for Flames of Fate.
*MechanicallyUnusualFighter: Cielo's entire moveset is like a hybrid of grappling, melee and AreaOfEffect attacks.
*TheLeader: Cielo is recognized as the leader of the Team Dimensonia branch of The Alliance.
*UnlockableContent: A variant of Cielo wearing the [[spoiler:Phantom Mask artifact]] is unlocked after completing Act [[spoiler:19]].

!!Drakon Kyrane
TheLancer, close associate of the BigGood, user of Agni.

*CastFromHitPoints: Two of Drakon's attacks sap his own health to deal damage.
*SequenceBreaking: Drakon has the ability to skip the game to Act 21 if he touches a boarded-up door in Act 1 while the first enemy wave ends.
*TheStoic: Unusually pragmatic and mature compared to most of the other characters.
*TornadoMove: All of Drakon's attacks manifest in the form of red twisters.

!!Rufaro Hyperius
Dimensonia's token [[{{CloudCuckooLander}} goofball,]] [[{{SkillGateCharacters}} Starter Character,]] user of Flux.

*BreakingTheFourthWall: Does this on multiple occasions, most prominently in Act 16 where he mentions the number of players currently in the game server.
*{{Catchphrase}}: ''"SHADDAP, DJANGO!"''
**Also keen on using the ":U" emoticon in his dialogue.
*PluckyComicRelief: One of the goofier members of Team Dimensonia.
*MagikarpPower: Rufaro starts off extremely weak, has the lowest damage of any character in the game and is meant to be used up until you buy a better character to play as. However, upgrading Rufaro to 50/50/50 gives him the additional ability of generating [[{{NighInvulnerability}} a short forcefield around himself]] when he deals damage. Combined with his insanely fast rate of fire and 50/50/50 beefing up the size of his projectiles by a ton, Rufaro has the potential of being one of the best tank characters in the game.

!!Shuu Lumina
[[{{TheFightingNarcissist}} Self-absorbed]] blonde prettyboy, Starter Character, user of Helios.

*BottomlessMagazines: Can fire an infinite amount of bullets from his revolvers without ever needing to reload.
*BrainlessBeauty: Ends up getting very easily possessed by [[spoiler: Zam Thane]], which triggers Act [[spoiler:34]]'s boss fight.
*GunsAkimbo: Shuu's weapons of choice are [[{{RevolversAreJustBetter}} dual revolvers.]]
*ItsAllAboutMe:
**Most of his dialogue involves him looking into his mirror at himself.
**Has a gigantic photo of his own face stretched across one of the walls in his dorm in Act 7.
*MoreDakka: The basic principle behind Shuu's play style. Not to mention his "RAMPARTO!" special move kicks his firing speed UpToEleven.
*TheGunslinger: One of the only characters in the game to wield firearms.

!!Ducasse Jonquil
TheSmartOne, Starter Character, user of Narukami.

*BunnyEarsLawyer: Supposedly does all of Team Dimensonia's paperwork.
*ImprobableWeaponUser: Wields a handful of tax papers that conduct electricity.
*TheFaceless: Always wears his antlered helmet.
**Going into his dorm in Act 7 reveals that he sleeps [[{{TheDevTeamThinksOfEverything}} with his face down in his pillow.]]
**Dropping your hat in-game while morphed as Ducasse reveals a basic ":D" face under the mask.
*TimePassageBeard: Ducasse's F attack swaps himself with a version of himself 10 years in the future, who is exactly the same but with a beard and afro.

!!Maurice Altara
Broken French-speaker, cheese enthusiast, user of Stratus.

*BewareTheSillyOnes: [[spoiler: Skipping the second D-Force fight on Act 28 supposedly triggers a TemporalParadox that causes Maurice to be unable to purchase cheese. Because of this, he shows up in Act 40 as a BonusBoss who shoots giant wedges of purple cheese at the players.]]
*CastFromHitPoints: Most of Maurice's attacks sap the player's health, with successful hits restoring lost HP.
*CloudCuckooLander: Arguably moreso than Rufaro. Aside from his unusual speech patterns, Maurice is obsessed with cheese [[spoiler:to a dangerous extent.]]
*GratuitousFrench: Maurice's speech patterns involve him speaking ''very'' broken French, followed by subtitles that [[{{ComicallyMissingThePoint}} don't actually match the translation at all]]

!!Xenon Karambit
SmugSnake, [[spoiler: Traitor to Team Dimensonia,]] user of Haze.

*AmbiguouslyBrown: Xenon's ethnicity is never explained in the game, which has earned him the nickname ''[[{{MemeticMutation}} "Xenon "Spraytan" Karambit"]]'' among the game's fans.
*ChargedAttack: His entire moveset involves charging up "Illusory Power" by hitting enemies with his basic attack. Once enough power is charged, Xenon's special moves become usable and more powerful depending on how high his charge is.
*[[spoiler: HeelFaceTurn: Betrays Team Dimensonia and teams up with Robot Moe to try and claim all the artifacts for himself. He's the final boss of the [[{{MeaningfulName}} Xenon Arc]].]]
*SaiGuy: Xenon's weapon of choice, although he's [[{{OrnamentalWeapon}} never actually seen using it.]]
