While Oga was never actually evil to begin with, before he met Furuichi he was dangerously obsessed with fighting and distrustful of anyone who tried to approach him, something that Furuichi had noticed (evidenced in early chapters by his unwillingness in letting Oga get "picked up" by bad influences such as Kanzaki). Years later, though never turning down a challenge, Oga has dropped his habit of ''picking'' fights, and started letting people get closer to him, such as Miki. Had he never met Furuichi, it's likely Oga would've ended up as a misanthrope and a violent beast.
