* NotSoDifferent:
** The permanent grudge Aiwarn and Yuni have for each other are for the same reason. They each took something important from each other (Aiwarn took Yuni's home and Yuni cost Aiwarn her spot in the Notraiders)
** All of the Cures are shown to have a FriendlessBackground (Lala and Yuni are aliens with Yuni as [[TheLastOfHisKind the last of her kind]], Hikaru was bullied as a child due to her quirky nature, Madoka and Elena are both [[LonelyAtTheTop idolized by their peers]]), and there are several episodes that explore how they relate to one another because of this, as well as the general feeling of being outcast.
** Madoka and Lala both suffer the same complications in their lives of tying to live up to their family's expectations and also dealing with complications with hiding their Cure Identities from their family. Both cures revealed their identities in different episodes by transforming in front of them.
** Episode 43 shows this between Elena and Tenjo, as well, as they both felt like outsiders in their childhoods for different reasons. Elena even mentions that it is thanks to Tenjo she was able to remember what made her happier and more confident, and she wants to do the same for her.

Prunce is one, able to translate for Lala and acts as Lala's TranslatorBuddy until the Pendants take over.
** Elena is also skilled at multiple languages a lesser example, thanks to her mum mother being a an interpreter ad and her dad being Mexican.Mexican-Japanese heritage. She's shown to fluently understand Japanese, English, and Spanish, making her at least trilingual.

* RealityEnsues:
** Lala is BookDumb to the point of being amazed by Earthlings being able to do ''double digit calculations'' and various jobs by themselves despite also being TheSpock of the group. Having your entire race have over reliance on AI to do everything doesn't really give any incentive to study and learn things themselves.
** Even though the Starscape Alliance has FasterThanLightTravel, they still explain that it would take several years of real time to reach Earth from the Starscape; Fuwa's warp ability is what speeds it up.
** Cure Cosmo tells Garuoga "[[FreudianExcuseIsNoExcuse Just because you couldn't protect your planet, that doesn't excuse relying on Darknest's power and taking from others!]]" Cure Cosmo lost her own planet too to the Notraiders, and she suffered PTSD the second after he revealed that he lost his own planet, but she still does not tolerate it being used in an exploitative manner as Garuoga does.
** When the Cures met an alien who can't speak, Elena is given the job to accompany them because, her mother being a translator, she is the one with the best experience with foreign language, even more so than aliens Lala and Yuni. Even so, she still runs into difficult trying to understand them; as her mother explains, language isn't all there is to understanding other people.

** Episode episode 32 has the Cures seeing Darknest.Darknest.
* WhatMeasureIsAMook: The series shows that the Nottorei aren't just faceless mooks, but actual people who lost their planets much like the other Notraiders; Aiwarn developed a special suit that amplifies their power by feeding on their despair. [[spoiler:When the Cures release them from Darknest's control, they also take a HeelFaceTurn, and are shown living peacefully among each other after the episode 49's timeskip.]]
* WhereAreTheyNowEpilogue: The final episode, as per recent series tradition, takes place after a timeskip--15 years, to be exact. [[spoiler:Madoka leads a government project to launch Japan's first manned space shuttle, Hikaru becomes an astronaut for said project, and Elena is an interpreter between the United States and Japanese governments. Lala, meanwhile, becomes a respected foreign ambassador for Saman and influences change in its terminally-dependent lifestyle, while Yuni and Aiwarn work together to restore Planet Rainbow to its former state. Even the Notraiders now have a beautiful planet to live on, free from the control of Darknest. The episode ends as Hikaru launches into space and hears Fuwa's voice once more.]]

* GenreThrowback: The season is intentionally an homage to the '80s SpaceOpera, and while it sticks with many of the modern ''Pretty Cure'' conventions, there are several reminders that the series is meant to represent the '80s. For example, computers and cell phones are rarely seen (other than the occasional background character), with much of the alien technology being a retro-futurist sort; the group at one point watches a movie on cassette tape, which Prunce notes is "very analog". Compared to, say, [[Anime/FutariWaPrettyCure Mepple and Mipple]] being kept in cell phone-like devices, Hikaru keeps Fuwa in a notebook. Even the series' music largely uses a retro synth sound, while the ending themes cross into UsefulNotes/{{synthwave}} territory. [[spoiler:It also makes the ending timeskip more understandable, as it's not TwentyMinutesIntoTheFuture, but rather the present day.]]
