It aired 13 episodes beginning on February 6th, 2022, and ended on May 1st.

* MartialArtsUniform: Iwao and Fuku-san are only ever seen wearing this.

* SweaterGirl: Nozomi, with the Asian cultural differences applying to her.

* CuffsOffRubWrists: Ryo and Ren do this after Wong frees them from their handcuff.

* BareYourMidriff: Ren and Joy ought to drop their fitness routines for us. Technically, Chai qualifies for this trope as well, but it's doubtful anyone would want to learn from his example.

** A UsefulNotes/SegaSaturn is hooked up to the TV at the Hazuki residence. The Saturn wouldn’t be released in Japan until nearly almost a decade later.

** Nozomi bears a striking resemblance to Touka Miyashita from the ''LightNovel/BoogiepopSeries''.

* MysteriousPast: Throughout the series, Ryo is slowing learning about Iwao’s history to understand why he killed Sunming Zhao despite them being best friends, and the significance of the Mirrors in all this.

** Mark dismisses Ryo as another punk looking for some easy money, until he learns that Ryo is looking for the Mad Angels because his father's death is somehow connected to them. He tells Ryo that he didn't start working at the harbor for money either; his brother had joined the Mad Angels and was looking for him.
** Although Ryo doesn’t explicitly tell Joy that his father was killed at first, [[MissingMom her mother was also killed]] when she was young, and perhaps notices something similar about him before getting that confirmation.

* ShesGotLegs: Xiuying’s shapely, toned legs are the result of her rigorous martial arts training. Since she wears her qipao more often than her regular outfit in the anime they are quite notable.

* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome:
** Since Guizhang sustained an injury during a fight with Chai after the incident with the Mad Angels, he's in no condition to go and Ryo has no choice but to trek to British Hong Kong by himself.
** Since the police were mostly absent in the games, they're seen investigating the shopping mall after Ryo and Zongquan fended off the Yellow Heads.
** [[spoiler:Just like how it went in ''Shenmue III'', Ryo can't even land a solid hit on Lan Di when they encounter each other in the season finale, as Lan Di has years of training and experience over Ryo's mere months.]]

* WolverinePublicity: While it was Shenhua for the games, now it's Nozomi for the anime. She's heavily featured in the opening & end credits and merchandise. Additionally, her image on the promo poster is quite prominent compared to most of the featured characters. A possible explanation for all this is that it's meant to make up for her not taking on as big of a role in the show as she should or could have given her relationship with Ryo.

* YamatoNadeshiko: WordOfGod considers Nozomi an ideal character.
