openPortuguese Novel? Probably 20th century? Literature
Looking for the name of a Portuguese novel that's probably (but not for sure) written in the 20th century. The plot apparently follows a man who is retelling his life's story as someone else is either listening or recording it down. The novel is most likely by a very famous Portuguese author? The theme is pretty distinct on memories and storytelling. (Sorry for the vagueness of it all, it's something a friend recommended to me but I forgot the name!)
open[SOLVED] folk song? Music
I heard a song on the radio years ago, during an NPR folk song program. I think it was about old people in a nursing home asking a fiddle player to play for them because they are sad. Does anyone know the title? SOLVED: It's 'Play Us A Waltz'
Edited by SomberCaeliferaopenBook set in san francisco during 1906 earthquake about sibling immigrants Literature
Ten or so years ago I read a book with SF locale. A sister and brother were involved with someone who was actually a pedophile. And thinking back, the book was probably published twenty years ago. The children were not related to the pedophile. They were either orphans or had been given away or kidnapped. It was set starting in the early 1900’s and included the period of time of the San Francisco earthquake. It continued through the lifetime of the main character. The pedophile lived in a tent, who I believe was Chinese (believe the children were also either Chinese or from the same country as the pedophile). Both children go into the tent, where the reader assumes they will be assaulted. Only the boy exits the tent. The child becomes a very successful business man. His business dealings by themselves were intriguing, balancing keen business sense and a sense of morality. On the final pages, at the businessman’s death, he is being readied for his funeral, and it is discovered that he is the sister, to the shock of everyone who had so admired this man. In reality, the boy had been killed by the pedophile, the girl has dressed in her brother’s clothes, and assumed the boy’s identity. The girl killed the pedophile in retaliation for her brother’s murder. She had masqueraded throughout her life as her brother – presumably recognizing that as a girl child in that era she would be more likely to be victimized. As a man, she would have more control of her life choices. Many things were great about the book but most impressive is that it was written so skillfully that there were really no hints to give away the surprise ending. Many thanks if you have any information on the title or author!
openNot sure video game is the right category--website about bird adaptation Videogame
I've looked for this site/game for years now! It was around in the early 2000's. Basically, you had to choose different customizable features for a new bird species (I remember beak shape and foot structure), then choose where it would live, like a swamp or a forest, etc.. You'd get a score/message telling you how well your bird would do based on its adaptations. It is NOT "build-a-beast"—but that's a similar idea! It's also not "who wants to live a million years", although I enjoy that one. I think the pictures were realistic/almost watercolor-like, but I was four or five at the time, so that detail is a little sketchy.
Edited by Raevynstaropenvillain breaks up couple for attention
im not sure if it is a tv show or movie but i just remember that a villain has made life miserable for some people for some time and finally they get a little happy and two of them wants to get married but the villain is not satisfied with this because the couple get all the attention and the villain doesn't so they make the girl in the relationship to break the wedding off and can't tell her fiancé about it because the villain wants drama. So now their happiness is gone and they are miserable again and the villain gets attention again.
openShow about a group of people on a train Live Action TV
It didn't last very long; I think it was cancelled after one season, but it was about a group of people who would discuss their lives between train destinations. It was British or Canadian; can't remember which.
openLoser Super Heroes
I remember seeing a clip of a show about two wannabe superheroes who completely mess everything up. I can't remember what it was called. All I can really remember is that one of them was British.
openTV show with teens in a jungle with a dinosaurs Live Action TV

openKids Pirate Ship Game Show Live Action TV
I lived in France from 1998 to 2000, and there was this game show on, where a pair of kids had to infiltrate a pirate ship, steal their treasure, and escape. One of the kids served in a kind of "overwatch" position, in a computer/command station, while the other had to overcome physical obstacles, navigate mazes, and avoid capture by pirate actors who would chase them around the ship. I think they had limited time for each task, and at the end, they were scored on the number of challenges they completed, and how many target items they picked up along the way. I also seem to remember there being a big deal about sneaking into the captain's quarters to steal the treasure map. Anybody know that show?
openWhat TV or Movie is this from? Youtube Link Below
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TssFEymqY34
Don be afraid to click link, it is much easier to click link than explain the scene. I did not see the TV or Movie this is from, I just saw the scene. The person who runs the youtube channel posts hundreds of film scenes but never tells what show or film they are from.
openTrying to remember this game
I'm trying to remember this Beat Em Up game we rented once but I can't recall it's name, but what I do know is that is one fighter had a cute little pig that followed her, There was also this big blood stained guy with huge sword,I think his name was Despair or Misery And the final boss was this guy dressed in black like a crow and his weapon was a hand gun
I think it might have been on the Play Station 1
openA mother believes her daughter is still alive Film
I honestly don't remember much about this movie. It was a live action movie about a woman and her teenage daughter. The daughter was attacked at the beginning and the mother saves her, and she spends the rest of the movie doing whatever she can to keep her daughter safe from strangers. However, we learn at the end that her daughter was Dead All Along and she's been hallucinating the entire time. There's plenty of foreshadowing, as nobody ever acknowledges the daughter. That's all I can remember, sorry!
Edited by ChaoticQueenopenA show with three friends finding a monster dimension and befriending the monsters
Okay so there was this show that used to be on Netflix, it was about this boy and his group of friends(him, another boy and a girl) and they found a secret liar or something. I think the main boy protagonist went to karate and his sensei had this whole other cave underground and a portal of aome sort to a monster realm/world/dimension. I remember that each person had there own monster familiar/companion friend. The main protagonist boy had this big furry-ish green monster that eventually ,in one episode, learned the ability to use his back spikes. I think the boy was chinese and had an altar for his dad or grandfather, he lived in a trailer park with his mom, and the other friend (boy) might've been black or dark skinned and had a water based familiar monster. The main boy's monster was of the nature elemant. Just a quick thing, the world had different elements like: fire, nature, water, light, and i think shadow, and maybe earth or something like that. But the other friend( the girl) was maybe white in ethnicity. there is also a website for it but i just cant remember what its called! The girl i think had a light element based familiar. And there was a bad woman or person that had a puppet like shadow familiar, and in one episode she unleahed it on rhe girl in a band room when the power went out (maybe) at school. I have more info but i think it would be too long.
openAnime I watched years ago Anime
Ok so I only remember one scene from this anime as it kind of stuck with me due to how much it scared me. From what I can remember the scene contained a man walking up some stairs and a girl is melted into his torso.
openLooking for an old TV show that aired on MTV Live Action TV
It has been years since I've seen this show but I've been trying to find it for a while now with zero luck, hopefully someone here knows!
The TV show was made up of several parts where the host would come onto a set and talk for a little while then it would go into skits and such. The host was violent and a heavy cocaine user from what I remember. He had a Jew fro with a (I think) red shirt on all the time. He swore like there was no fucking tomorrow and would come up with outrageous business ideas like a cigarette bubble for your head or a poop scooper designed to fling the poop at people. He would constantly get into fights for no reason too.
If any of this rings a bell then please help because I've been looking for a stupid amount of time! I think the name of the show started with an 'S'.
openRom/Com Show on Hulu
I watched a show on Hulu a couple years ago about a guy (I think a writer) and an outgoing girl (I think some sort of publicist; I remember she worked for some famous young kids who smoked pot). I believe the girl was a redhead. The guy's house was really nice, and I think he had a friend (maybe from Mexico?) move in with him.
openTv show with humans that have superpowers Live Action TV
In this show some people had different powers. I remember a guy that could shoot from his fingers and a guy that was killing other people by making crack in their forehead with his telekinesis.
I played an online game back when I was in elementary school (so in the range of 2006-2008). The main characters were yellow and spherical. I don't think they were emoji-based, though; this was before emojis were popularized. The name was rather cutesy/whimsical, if I remember correctly. I think there were mazes/quests involved? It might have been available on Big Fish Games, but I'm not sure about that. Sorry if it's not enough information. Also, I'm pretty sure it had absolutely nothing to do with the Pac Man franchise.
