The pics were funny but I don't really care for the Die for Our Ship La'Gaan has been getting.

[up] Agreed fully. I'm starting to get annoyed with all the (very) disproportionate amount of hate he gets. Even his own teammates doesn't seem to give him much respect (And I thought Wally always got the short end of the stick). If the show wanted me to root for Supermartian getting back together, then they've failed miserably as not only do I not hate Lagoon Boy, I now officially don't want Supermartian to get back together. I've never felt this much hate towards a shipping due to how unfairly a character has been crapped on since the days of PokeShipping.

I don't hate Lagoon Boy because I want Supermartian back together, (I honestly don't give a crap and I find their being apart and motivations for that much more interesting) I hate Lagoon Boy because he's just kind of a giant douche.

Meh. L'gaan needs more screentime so that we can have some kind of clue as to what the heck he's thinking. At the moment he's just kind of 'generic rival love interest', with a side order of 'stupid catchphrase'. I'm honestly not familiar with his character in the comics- I sadly wasn't able to keep collecting Young Justice for very long due to money issues- but the handful of appearances I've seen of his suggest that his characterization in the series is doing him a bit of a disservice.

Then again, I suppose it's more surprising that so very few of the massive Cast Herd are Flat Characters. Of the active team members, the only others that I can think of that are (seriously) poorly characterized are Bumblebee and Batgirl, mostly for the same reason- next to zero dialogue/screentime.

... and why was Lagoon Boy complaining about being 'stereotyped' as the water guy? Uhm... that's like M'gann whinging about being stuck on eye-in-the-sky duty when she's the only team member present who can fly.

Maybe that's why people don't like L'gaan. He's an idiot >.<

It's hard to notice under all the shipping hate he's been getting but there are plenty of people who dislike him for a decent reason. He is infact dumb and an ass. He's a dumbass. He gets angry over the stupidist crap, for example when Superboy calls him "rookie". Remember this is Superboy, he's probably called all the new members, even Tim, rookie at some point or another. So what does he do?

Charges in giving his location to the enemy, which threatens everyone on the team who are trying to work a STEALTH operation, and proceeds to disobay his superior who just so happens to be Nightwing, the baddest mother fucker to ever come into existince and who was also raised by the GODDAMN Batman. Just because Supey called him Rookie.

Also in the first two episodes what do we find out? He's desprite to prove himself. In the first two episodes it was indeed indearing and amusing to some extent. This episode what are we told he didn't do. Restock on re-breathers! All so he could have the chance to show off and "prove" himself. While this could be argued in that he simply forgot...I highly doubt that's the case. I doesn't matter which one it is just because not doing something that IMPORTANT is incredibly dumb.

Imagine if he had done the same thing, only if it was a different mission. Say whichever team that was chosen didn't include himself Miss M, Gar or either of the birdies. Say the Bioship goes down into the water (rather deeply) so what do they do, go to the back get the re-breathers....except they're not there 'cause LB was to buisy dicking around or trying to prove himself to be bothered in inshuring the safety of his non-water breathing friends. They die. The end.

....fuck you La'gann. (Did I even spell his name right?)

[up]So basically, you're bashing him for the same exact shit Superboy himself was guilty of in the previous season.

I liked superboy a lot, I actually tough I was going to dislike him.

However I am disappointed that he hasn't grown up like all the other characters have.

Heh, Zombiepeas', err I mean Superblys' version of "Depths" was a riot as usual, even if it fangirled too much this time (I got tired of Kaldur in the Korner very quickly.) Her blog helps me like season 2 of YJ better.

Also, agreed that Lagoon Boy is annoying on his own, not just for being Super Martian's foil.

Oh boy L'gann. Yeah, he's getting on my nerves as well. T He catchphrase isn't as grating as "Hello Megan" was for some reason but... I don't know. There's something about the combination of a hot head desperate to prove himself who takes unnecessary risks and is too cocky when he hasn't really earned it couple with Yuri Loenthal's voice that makes a character REEEEEEAAAAALLY easy to dislike. I wonder why tongue

I think I must be a strange breed of person who doesn't dislike catch-phrases. I actually enjoyed "Hello, Megan!". I thought it fit her character. XD

I'm completely neutral on Lagoon boy. His a bit thick, yeah, but he doesn't bother me too much.

This is very random, but...

I watched Homefront after watching Depths, so I heard Dick's "We'll laugh about this someday." twice. It only hit me then how squeaky Jesse McCartney's Robin voice was, and how deep his Nightwing voice is in comparison, despite all the complaints about Nightwing not sounding like an 18-19 year old teenager.

wild mass guess While he's being held captive, La'Goon shall reveal that some of his issues are from the stories his mom Kay told him of her mistreatment during (and after) her encounter with the Creature From The Black Lagoon, and how he himself was hassled as a child for being different. Steroid Boy will never hear of this and never cut him any slack.

Either that or the Martian Mindraper's mental command for the two of them to kiss and make up will have Gone Horribly Right and she'll need to find a new man to sink her claws of insecurity into.

Hello, Megan did fit Miss Martian's character well enough, but it was still particularly grating. Her voice and the sheer unnecessary...ness...of its use in most cases.

Maybe if they had cut back to being like once every three episodes or something...Idunno.

Catch phrases: I'm indifferent. As said above, it fits the characters, and although some of them are used a bit too much per episode, I've certainly heard far worse.

Lagoon Boy: I don't hate him, but I can see why a lot of fans do. Aside of him being lovey-dovey with Miss Martian (which approximately half of the fanbase finds grating), he's kind of a jerk. And he's being played as the foil to Superboy, both romantically and personality-wise. The writers have achieved that second part by making him more or less the Superboy of the first season, only moreso.

I'd expect Superboy to pull something like what Lagoon Boy did back in Season One because the team was young and were all but guaranteed to make mistakes along the way. Lagoon Boy charging in, Leeroy Jenkins-style, directly disobeying Nightwing's orders, and all because of slight provocation from Superboy, however, is another story. I do feel bad about him being abducted, but it was the chip on his shoulder that put him in that predicament in the first place. He only has himself to blame at the moment.

He's kinda flat at the time being (then again, we're only about 1/3 of the way through the series and we have more characters to cover as opposed to the first season), and what characterization he does have... isn't entirely positive.

Anyone seen this yet? Its an interview that Angry Joe did with the YJ team (mostly Weisman, but a couple others) about the show in general, but also its video game.
