[up] I took the liberty of adding it to the Home Pages index, if that's alright with you.

That's awesome! Thanks!

Right now, my pages would link into the English pages, but when I get into doing the Indonesian pages, I'll start redirecting to the more local links.

One trick we use in the French translation is to write non-existing links as "Fr/EnglishNameOfTheTrope". That way, it still indirectly links to the English page, but it also makes it easier to replace it once translated, since you can search the "Related" tab to find every page on which "Fr/EnglishNameOfTheTrope" was used.

So if for instance you wrote the link as "[[Id/WikiMagic Sulapan Wiki]]", it would still show up as a blue link (Sulapan Wiki), but that link would redirect the user to a page stating that the translation doesn't exist yet, and providing a link to the English version of the page. And once the page is translated, you could use the "Related" tab to quickly find every page on which you need to replace "Id/WikiMagic" with "Id/SulapanWiki".

I don't know if that was very clear? I hope it was ^^'

I did just that. Good thing I only had 2 pages so far.

So, SugarWiki tropes like Crowning Moment of Awesome and Crowning Moment of Heartwarming, are being moved to Moment of Awesome and Heartwarming Moments, respectively.

Should the French, and presumably other languages, versions be moved to match?

Since Grand moment de gloire has what's basically a "Crowning", with "Grand"...

This was discussed on the Tropes Needing to Be Renamed page, and it was deemed unnecessary.

I have picked up the task to translate some tropes to Dutch.

Note: for my translations I just directly translate the captions underneath the existing images. Is this okay, or not?

Depends on the situation, really. Sometimes it's the way to go, but sometimes you may find a new caption more fitting for a particular language's audience.

It's the same as with trope pages themselves. Sometimes you can basically translate them verbatim, sometimes an audience in a different language looks at a certain trope differently (I'm looking at you, German version of Heävy Mëtal Ümlaut), so a rewrite may be the way to go.

What is... That's Polish?

~Piterpicher, since you made them...

I guess they're related to the more indexed, PlKomiks.Tytus Romek I Atomek...

So, what's the indexes for those sub-page things?

Because right now, as a non-Pole, I'm utterly confused by these low-page namespaces...

...

At least PlSubiektywnyOdbior.Kajko I Kokosz means one of those namespaces has a second page...

...

I guess they're Polish Trivia and YMMV, respectively... So, what indexes does that go on?

The thing about Trivia and YMMV pages is that they're auto-indexed in the English version, which obviously cannot happen for their translated equivalents. Furthering the issue is the fact that there's no Polish translations for YMMV and Trivia yet (which I'd assume would be Subiektywny Odbior and Ciekawostki).

To solve the lack of auto-index, I'd suggest doing the same thing that was done for the French translation with Index CVQV, which is to make a Subiektywny Odbior Index page and Ciekawostki Index page (or whatever the equivalent would be with proper Polish grammar), which would then be listed on the aforementionned Subiektywny Odbior and Ciekawostki once they are translated.

That's for the Polish translators to work out, though.

Yes, those were attempts at Polish Trivia and Polish YMMV. Look, those pages are currently unindexed and probably will be for a while. Heck, I don't know if I should try to salvage this, at least right now. It seems that there's little to no actual attempt/interest to translate the site to Polish (and admittedly I might have started off from the wrong foot, as maybe I should have done tropes or something, but whatever, I was new and stupid). Anyway, I don't know if an auto-index is worth it anymore. I'd just wait until the moderator namespace configuration tool gets further updates.

Several Spanish-language trope pages haven't kept up with major changes made to their English-language versions. For example, Panty Shot is now No On-Page Examples, while Es/Pantaletazo still has them. Luces De Semaforo is another case - the English version (Mismatched Eyes) is a disambiguation page for various differently-colored eye tropes, not a trope itself anymore. I can only speak about 20 words of Spanish, so I'm afraid I can't help much, but if any Spanish-speaking tropers are able to update the pages or something, that'd be great! Also found (will update as I go):

Lots of English-to-German trope redirects are missing. This might also apply to German work redirects or other languages, but I haven't checked.

Vis Ma Vie de Vampire seems to be written entirely in French, accordingly to Google translate. I'm probably going to move the content to Fr Webcomic/ and rewrite the current page in English, but since I'll be relying on auto-translate to get the gist of the description and examples, it'd be super helpful if a French speaker could glance over the resulting page to see if it's at least mostly accurate to what the original French said.

Wow, this will need quite a bit of fixing... on the French side, which is full of typos and ZCE. Your translation is quite good indeed.

I'll have a go at it presently.

The same Troper had also created a bunch of very low-quality and typo-ridden pages about French video creators last year, to the point where several of them were nuked and they got suspended for it at the time.

I must admit that while I had planned to fix the few surviving pages, I never actually got around to it, but it really seems like it's about time to...

It.Elenco Provvisorio A has a wick for Author Existence Failure, which has been renamed to Died During Production. I am wondering if anyone could translate Died During Production to Italian.

[up] I'll try to translate it tomorrow, as Morto Durante La Produzione, and then I'll add it to the It.Elenco Provvisorio D-E . Do I also have to remove Author Existence Failure from the It.Elenco Provvisorio A ?

EDIT: I've done it! The page Died During Production has bee translated as It.Morto Durante La Produzione. Now the only thing left is to fix the wick for Author Existence Failure on the It.Elenco Provvisorio A.

EDIT 2: I've added a redirect to the italian page for Author Existence Failure (FallimentoEsistenzialeDellAutore), so now it will redirect to Morto Durante La Produzione.

While translating the page, I found various tropes which weren't already on the It.Elenco Provvisorio, so I will add them later.

Best to hold off on the non Latin-8 lingos until we have a look at the implications of changing the storage encoding.

So...is this ever going to happen? That post was made twelve years ago.

It can happen now, but we need a list of languages and the encoding needed for each.

The admins have said that too many things would break if we changed the entire site to UTF-8.
