This thread is for quick questions. A "quick question" is a question which has a relatively quick, generally factual answer; a question which is not likely to inspire an extended discussion.
e.g.
Quick Question: How tall is an average ten-year-old boy?
Not a Quick Question: Why are Americans obsessed with guns?
Quick Question: Why is ALS sometimes called Lou Gehrig's Disease? Who was Lou Gehrig?
Not a Quick Question: In Alan Dean Foster's Thranx Commonwealth series, is Pip a Mary Sue?
Get the idea?

Depends on the employer. Usually a criminal record of any kind will be bad but if it's for something relatively minor like drug possession, and you've cleaned up since then, a good boss would still hire you.
But it really just depends on person to person
Oh really when? It's a significant obstacle, frequently. Depending upon how serious the crime was, how much the potential employers can ask regarding a criminal record. See also this for the US, although it's a bit old.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanDrug possession is "relatively minor"? I suppose if it's only that and not actually using or selling it...
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.Yeah, drug possession is typically a relatively minor offense, depending on the drugs and the amount. The things you learn in high school outside of the classroom XD
Possession is just getting caught with a blunt hidden in your sock or something.
If you have a lot you can be charged with intent to sell and if you're under the influence you can get nailed for that too.
Oh really when?I read an article somewhere on MSN where you can 'trick' your body into becoming well rested but is 'tricking' your body into being advisable? Are there ways where you can take a nap without it impede on your job? There are times where my brain is tired but I am wide after my eight hours of sleep and I need a nap. How useful are power naps? And how do you do them?
"Analay, an original fan character from a 2006 non canon comic. Do not steal!"Is there a specific type of trope that deals with changing landmarks and significant locations we're familiar with today into something we would barely recognize if we were in that future?
Living The Fever DreamWhat like finding the Statue of Liberty at the end planet of the apes?
hashtagsarestupidI think he means like putting other people's faces on Mt Rushmore.
what do you mean I didn't win, I ate more wet t-shirts than anyone elseIn one of my original universes, several of the world's known landmarks and significant buildings are altered in such a way that they couldn't accurately be compared to what they're supposed to be in present day. (Featured examples include the noticeable lack of a Capitol Building in Washington D.C. and a heavily-modified Empire State Building.)
Living The Fever Dream"reality over long timescales"
:P
(Sorry, I don't know the trope name you're thinking of, but I recognize it as a distinctive concept.)
I'm really starting to enjoy my series I've been developing for years now that has been stalled repeatedly. Mainly because I'm a little over halfway done with the first trilogy, which was when I planned to revise and even share...still need to finish that third book and revise all three.
Living The Fever DreamI think Monumental Damage is the closest we've got.
Join us in our quest to play all RPG video games! Moving on to disc 2 of Grandia! You should create a trope for that.
I'm thinking of making one of my own.
what do you mean I didn't win, I ate more wet t-shirts than anyone elseJust for Fun, I'm taking suggestions for an appropiate name for a hypothetical counterpart to Gory Deadly Overkill Title of Fatal Death that switches the violence and death elements with Fanservice, Fetish Fuel and Hotter and Sexier. "Overkill" seems to be the easiest: Switched it with "Oversexed".
A list of synonyms and related words for "sexy".

Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus."Erotic Kinky Oversexed Title of Climactic Hotness?"
(I want to use "sticky" for the first word—it seems to me to parallel the use of "gory" in the original title—but I'm not sure that it would be appropriate...)
My Games & WritingOrgasmic hotness?
Fresh-eyed movie blogHow about "sultry"? Bonus points for the Double Entendre factor.
Sultry Kinky Oversexed Title of Orgasmic Hotness... Hmmm, I kind of like the ring of that.
Still open to other suggestions, of course. Can't go wrong with multiple alternatives, after all.

Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.I have a question based on a character I currently have in an RP here on this forum.
You all know what penal armies are, right? Basically, they're military units for condemned criminals. Sometimes the criminals are forced into it but other times, it's an alternative for jail and could even get them a pardon. My question is could a deserter ever be part of a penal unit? If he was AWOL and imprisoned and then a war or something major happened, would they let a condemned deserter into a penal unit or would they just assumed he'd go AWOL and keep him locked up?
"You're an enemy of art and I pity your ignorance" - Domingo Montoya Help save the rainforest for free simply by going to Ecosia.org.It would probably depend on how desperately they needed the manpower.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.I read somewhere that the USSR, during WWII, used penal battalions for clearing minefields - by having the convicts simply march through the minefield ahead of the troops that they actually considered worth saving.
I wouldn't be surprised if deserters have also been used for that sort of thing.
Quod gratis asseritur, gratis negatur.^^Depends on the initial reasons I guess. If he went AWOL because the exceptional circumstances, say his commanding officer was a psycho more than him realising being in the army means there is a good chance you could get hurt.
hashtagsarestupidOn average, how many discrete parts make up a hand gun?
Slide, barrel, recoil spring, barrel bushing, frame, trigger unit and magazine in a semi-automatic pistol.
I might be missing some.
I'd suggest that you either ask that in the gun thread and/or look at exploded views of handguns.
How badly does having a crime on record (specifically, possession of marijuana/controlled substance and being available on the first page if you Google the person's name) affect a person's chances of getting a job?)
Anyone who assigns themselves loads of character tropes is someone to be worried about.
