Locked Pages: Lock, UnLock and Edit requests

Go To

This thread is for requesting edits or unlocks to Locked Pages or for requesting locks. It can also be used for technical requests to moderators such as:

  • creating new pages in the Main/ and other restricted namespaces without going through Trope Launch Pad
  • moving discussion pages
  • moving reviews

Please keep the following guidelines in mind:

  1. Check Locked Pages and Permanent Red Link Club first. They can provide guidance on what are good and bad requests.
  2. Include working links in your request to the page(s) in question.
  3. If asking for edits, state your changes exactly as they should appear on the page, including proper Example Indentation, namespacing, and pothole and quote formatting. And make sure that what you want to add is actually a valid example.
  4. We do not edit archived articles, even to correct links.
  5. If you need to have the capitalization of a page title or namespace of a work fixed, ask here.
  6. If you need to remove a ghost wick, go here.
  7. To request a page to be moved along with its history, go here.
  8. Some locked pages have ongoing cleanup threads, like Complete Monster (Thread), Five-Man Band (Thread), and Magnificent Bastard (Thread). Other than purely technical requests, edits to these pages ought to be discussed in these threads first.
  9. Also, we do not do direct edits (other than changing wicks) to Magnificent Bastard or Complete Monster example lists. Rather, you need to do the edit to a sandbox page that follows the format Sandbox.Magnificent Bastard<Name of the example subpage> and Sandbox.Monster<Name of the example subpage> (e.g for Monster.Disney it's Sandbox.Monster Disney) and ask for it to be swapped in on Saturday for Magnificent Bastard and on Monday for Complete Monster.
  10. Inappropriate pages that keep being recreated, pages banned under The Content Policy and subpages that are disallowed (like Headscratchers pages for tropes) are valid reasons for requesting page locks.

NOTE: Edited with OP's permission.

@Star Sword: That's not a Scrappy Mechanic because it has nothing to do with Blizzard's games, only getting access to them.

@Drake Clawfang: That sounds like Sequel Hook, not Left Hanging. Cut it out with the complainy edits to FFVII and friends.

[up] Wait. What about Blizzard's servers? It is a Scrappy mechanic of their servers' security measures, so wouldn't it go on that page?

Can someone please fix the grammar errors on Lolita's 1st paragraph? The 2nd sentence (the one starting "Chronicling") isn't actually a sentence. Either the full stop at the end of the previous sentence needs deleting (making the sentence "Lolita is a 1955 novel, Vladimir Nabokov's wacky road-trip "romance" chronicling the misadventures of erudite pedophile Humbert Humbert and his stepdaughter/kidnappee Dolores Haze.") or "Chronicling" needs to be changed to "It chronicles".

The Full Metal Alchemist subpage for Complete Monster is finally edited to the satisfaction of a majority of the forum. If we could please have it locked, before somebody tries to readd some of the examples we've removed.

Thank you

Any comment from moderators about splitting the FF 7 page?

At this point, I think we're done listening to you, Drake.

Edit: I'm putting YMMV.Blizzard Entertainment on the Cut List. It's pointless when we already have articles for all of the company's games.

I am sorry about the "bite me" comment. I didn't mean to incite anything and didn't think it was a big enough deal to be suspended, but I do sincerely apologize, I'll be more careful about my language here in the future.

However, even if I am suspended, I would still like discuss the FF 7 page. The page is very lengthy and I think it could benefit from being split into a page for just the base game and a page for the entire Compilation. Given that the page is locked though, I'm not sure if this could be done, and if so, how to go about asking it be done. All I'm asking is what steps would be preferred on my part to go about doing this.

[up] The page is 253K characters, which is hefty but not near the danger zone for splitting. If this project was to happen, what might work in lieu of a hard split would be to section off the examples that are strictly in the Compilation below the examples that occur in both FFVII and the Compilation, but I've never played the game(s) and have no idea what would go where unless it's specifically mentioned in the examples. It would be something best pitched in a thread about the game in the Video Games forum.

@Fighteer: Then at least spread out the example across the relevant work pages.

This Troper should probably be added to Administrivia under Manual of Style.

EDIT: Ah, nevermind, it was already there. The lack of an index listing on the page itself confused me.

I see. That makes sense, from a strange coding perspective, I suppose.

The image on Freud Was Right is potholed to BFG, can this be changed to Awesome, but Impractical(or maybe some other page) as it's not an example of that trope?

A BFG is a "very large man-portable weapon".

@Star Sword: I do not believe that it is a valid example. Scrappy Mechanic is for stuff in the game.
