^Indeed. I expect her Butt-Monkey status will be fully lived up to.
Also, I saw in the reviews someone mentioned a Nanoha reference. I didn't catch that in this chapter, anyone spot what it was?
Ah, just realized something: The Organization said that they asked a TFEI if Kyon was "normal". I guess the interface they asked was Asakura. Though I wonder why Koizumi never considered her disappearance all that remarkable. I don't remember Kyon ever telling him about Ryoko trying to kill him; perhaps I'm mistaken?
More Les Yay between Mikuru and Haruhi, and Kyon accusing Haruhi of making the harem for herself. All in all, hilarious chapter.
And Asahina finally remembers to bring up her "older sister." WHEN WILL IT HAPPEN?

So does Achakura count as the Brigade's Token Evil Teammate?
I can't wait to see how she fits into the action. Good times.
You wouldn't care what people thought about you if you knew how seldom they did.Let's see... someone mentions Koizumi getting a (smaller) harem. Someone wonders who would win between Kyon and Koizumi in a fight.
"I...is that so?" Koizumi asked, looking down at the tiny girl with consternation.
"Yeah! Just stab him a few dozen times!" she cheered, winking. "Please?"
Kyon raised his eyebrows to the esper. "In proper shonen style, I guess we could be rivals and beat the crap out of each other," he said, sounding unconvinced. "You know — as friends."
"Ah ... energy weapons, the need to keep a low profile.... And the idea that, really, anyone would think I'd be so desperate for a date that— No, I think this shouldn't be dignified with further response," Koizumi determined, shaking his head. "If it's all the same, I think I'll just as soon ignore her."
:D I see what you did there, Durandall.
My Fanfic, My FanartI Knew It!. Some pages back I posted a theory that Achakura would be a representation of Skynet's AI when she showed up. And I was partly right. Joyous day for me! =D
Also, every day Durandall updates instantly turns into a good one.
Achakura is a bouncy ball = most hilarious use for her to date.
I wonder if she'll start compulsively cleaning Kyon's room, should that be possible?
On a scale of 1 to 10, with one being normal human and ten being 'not human', where do you think Kyon currently is? Nagato, Asakura, Kimidori, and Kuyou are all presumably at 10.
Now collecting White-Haired Pretty Girls.Intrinsically speaking? 1-2. With equipment? 5 at maximum.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.I'd have said 2-3, with all the training, nanonmachines, the addition of the interface, being slightly older than he should be due to The Slow Path, and having been moved through time so much.
I'd put Haruhi at 9. Not sure where to put the other supernatural brigade members.
Hmm... maybe it should be a logarithmic scale of alienness, with 1 as Muggles and 10 as Starfish Aliens?
Actually... Starfish Aliens at 9, Eldritch Abominations at 10.

Now collecting White-Haired Pretty Girls. And of course, Haruhi at fully unrestricted power would be over 9000.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus. This isn't a scale of power, it's a scale of not-humanness.
Would Ridiculously Human Robot or Rubber-Forehead Alien go higher?

Now collecting White-Haired Pretty Girls.Oh, okay. Does "humanness" only cover physical appearance/structure/composition and inherent powers only, or does it extend to metaphysical aspects? If so, then it gets quite complicated in those cases.
edited 20th Mar '11 2:42:53 PM by MarqFJA
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.Define metaphysical aspect.
Now collecting White-Haired Pretty Girls.Mind, soul, psyche, spirit, "data"... You know, anything that lacks physical substance.
PS: Has anyone seen Mad Kitsu? I wanted to congratulate him on correctly guessing Asakura's punishment.

Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.I'd put Kyon at 3 (training, time traveling, equipment, etc.), Yuki at 7 (was higher, but she's very slowly humanizing), Mikuru at 2 (time traveling and such aside, she's pretty much a normal girl [unless you want to count her Supreme Chef and paramedic training as abnormal]), Koizumi at 4 (improved ESP, can use powers outside of closed space, turns into a flaming ball of cuttyness, Rena-sensei Squeeing Fanboy), Kanae at 2 (same with Mikuru; sliding and teleportation aisde, she's pretty much a normal girl), and Tsuruya at 1 (she may be a Yakuza Princess, but she's still normal).
Okay, very much ninja'd, but (for now) my numbers remain the same.
Okay, based on that, I made one change, but I think the rest is fine as is.

I'd stick to those metaphysical aspects that have a direct effect - souls, for instance, haven't come up in this, but if the scale was to be applied generally then they probably would.
In this case, I think I'm suggesting sticking to those metaphysical aspects directly linked to the physical.
So... basic scale construction.
10 (100000000000?) - Eldritch Abomination
9 (10000000000?) - Starfish Aliens
8 (1000000000?)
7 (100000000?)
6 (10000000?)
5 (1000000?)
4 (100000?)
3 (1000?)
2 (100?)
1 (10?)- Muggles
0 (1?) - Not Even Alive/Sentient/Sapient.
Need to fill in the blanks.

Now collecting White-Haired Pretty Girls.-1: Nobby Nobbs
-10 Baldrick
edited 20th Mar '11 3:07:52 PM by maxwellelvis
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatWouldn't Nobby actually be about 1.5 or something, seeing as he needs a certificate to prove his humanness? XD
So... linear or logarithmic scale?

Now collecting White-Haired Pretty Girls.@Marq FJA: You rang? And it wasn't surprising that this would be so, as Durandall did say "Achakura". Why would he say that if he didn't mean that Achakura?
On another note, I was surprised that Betatrack was correct about the theory of Asakura becoming part of Skynet, which Durandall went and made a great form of Fridge Brilliance with at the same time. Congrats, Betatrack.
Now that that's out of the way, I have a few things to state...
Now that Achakura is around, I had a strange thought. What if, for some reason, the following people somehow were able to be able to see and interact with Achakura somehow?
1. Nonoko. 2. Rika and Hanyuu. 3. Rena. 4. Shamishen.

I have returned, and my vacation in the void was so boring...That's why I put him at just -1; we CAN prove he's a human, but he needs a paper proving it most of the time.
Baldrick, on the other hand, is actually some sort of offshoot sub-creature that only looks like a dirty human, if his family tree is to be believed.
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatI'd say Rena because she hasn't gotten much screen time and is going to show up soon.
@Mad Kitsu:
Achakura + Shamisen = Hilarity Ensues!
In fact, Shamisen is acting as a container of that "paragenetic silicon-based data lifeform" since the end of the short story "Wandering Shadow" in the 8th novel, therefore it's not so far-fetched for him to see her. Hanyuu is a human-based data-entity according to Nagato, so she has a good chance too.
I don't see how Rena or Rika could see Achakura, except as an after-effect of the Hinamizawa Syndrome and only in the case that it was a data-based disease. There is also the possibility that the SOS-Brigade decides to extend the effect of the Augmented Reality to them or Nonoko for some reason. In any case the result is pretty obvious and funny:
Achakura + Rena = I'm Taking Her Home With Me! (Bonus points for being the Trope Namer)
I don't sure why, but in Rika's case the first thing that pops up in my head is:
Achakura + Rika + somebody telling Rika about Asakura's attempts to kill Kyon= A very scared Achakura!
I'm in two minds about Nonoko. On one hand, I picture Nonoko gushing over Asakura and advising Kyon on how to pull off a successful Defeat Means Friendship (after all, it's an important element in both Shōnen and Magical Girl genres) and on why he should be nice to her, etc. But on the other hand, I also visualize her raising the slapstick comedy to an art form (something like Nagato's treatment of Achakura in Haruhi-chan). In my eyes, an Odd Friendship between Achakura and Nonoko is not entirely impossible either. Of course, this will depend whether Kyon allows them to interact in the first place or not.

K: I have an idea, but I'm not sure how safe it is. S: I like it already!Just checking in after reading the new chapter. Achakura is adorable.
Read all of my fanfics! The scale is of non-normal humanness. Nobby and Baldrick would be higher, not lower. 0 pretty much exists as a 'why are you trying to apply this to something that cannot conceivably be thought of as a person or people?' label.
Interestingly, human society would probably get a 9 or 10.
Now collecting White-Haired Pretty Girls. If you hurt Kyon, Yuki's retribution is such a foregone conclusion that even asking about it is mildly confusing to her.
Am I the only one who imagined a scary black man voice in the background when Yuki backhands Achakura? 'Bitch.'
edited 21st Mar '11 9:37:18 AM by PaxEmpyrean
...holy shit, talk about an awesome bit of Fridge Brilliance.
Also, Yuki's backhand is an interesting bit of character development for her. It's the first time she's ever expressed anger or rage—I don't think she's really forgiven Asakura for harming Kyon, which looks like her Berserk Button.
The fact that Achakura looks like she can bounced around like a ball also opens up the way for lots of comedically sociopathic abuse.
