[up]The first image in your edited-in set of links didn't load. (Edit: Now it does.) Also I have to ask, do you know of a full-size version of the image used for this wallpaper? I tried image-searching it but apparently all the white space confuses "visually similar images" into returning all Haruhi-related images with white backgrounds.

Incidentally, when I did my search, I stumbled across this absolutely adorable picture.

Maybe I should've been more clear. I meant a full-size image of the picture used to make the wallpaper. As in the picture of Haruhi and Kyon kissing, but without all the white space and bigger than you would see it in any of the wallpaper sizes. tongue

That one's pretty detailed though, so thanks. [lol] (Edit: After cropping it I realized it's possible that wallpaper size IS using the full-size image, so okay.)

You could always try snipping the kiss out of the wallpaper with Paint and then doing visually-similar-image search on that.

Y'know, I just cropped the bigger wallpaper size to save just the image and that idea didn't even occur to me. Good plan. [lol]

Edit: Success! And a bonus I found in the process, not as good as the other one but more such pictures are always nice. tongue

Is it weird that I find that Kyon/Yuki pic a little suggestive due to how Yuki's legs are bent?

I don't but then I'm probably too overwhelmed by the cuteness. [lol]

Also I just noticed two things: Yuki has no shadow, and I think that image is meant to be used for a bookmark.

I think it's a hint that this is mainline!Kyon with Disappearanceverse!Yuki, i.e. the former is "real" while the latter is more or less "an imaginary simulation" made by God-level Digital Physics Manipulation, so to speak.

@Eamil:

I recognize that illustration. It's part of a collection of 21 illustrations from pixiv.

I think the text could be a crucial element to interpret this drawing. As far as I can tell it says "もしも世界で ふたりきりだったら きっと君を選ぶのに。", which I think it means something along the lines of "even if the world were just the two (of us), (I) would choose you (君) for sure." The key part is the pronoun 君, a familiar form of "you" used by males, implying Kyon is the speaker of the sentence.

Edit: typo

I believe it's because she has what appears to be a gravitational singularity within her physical form, but is still visually observable from the outside, thus indicating the absence of an event horizon (which is in contrast to black hole-type gravitational singularities).

She's not naked. She's got clothes on. :P

And I think it's indicated somewhere that she seems to have an event horizon somewhere within her physical form. Either that or her actual black-hole embodiment is off somewhere random doing something else, and her human body is just, well, a human body.

I would refer you back to when Kuyou went unconscious from the "message" that Achakura relayed to her, during the first part of Sasaki's kidnapping by the Family.

Browsing images on this one site I found a one-page comic involving Kyon and Sasaki. It's not really related to anything but I figured someone would find it interesting. tongue

[up][up] Fun fact: that's from a doujin (mostly safe for work) called Cool Drive 3. And actually, going beyond that, it's an in-universe doujin that Tachibana wrote about Kyon and Sasaki, where Sasaki replaced Haruhi at North High from the start.

This doujin also features: Kuyou-in-a-bag. It's less dirty than it sounds.

As I recall, Kuyou did show up at Sasaki's house when Sasaki didn't realize Kuyou even knew where she lived, and then disappeared as soon as she got out the door and of Sasaki's sight. Does that count?

Re. Naked singularity.

I don't think so. In SB-5 Yuki discovered (with the assistance of Haruhi's powers) that the data sent by Achakura to Kimidori was transformed as though it went through an event horizon, which implies she didn't directly observed a singularity, just its effects on the data.

She's not naked. She's got clothes on. :P

Are you aware that from now on I won't be able to hear or read about naked singularities or the cosmic censorship hypothesis without chuckling a little? Thanks!

Re. Cool Drive 3

IIRC, that doujinshi was posted in this thread some time ago. So far I have only found two pages translated to English. For added amusement value, please take notice that apparently Kyouko somehow made Fujiwara draw it.

This doujin also features: Kuyou-in-a-bag It's less dirty than it sounds.

I wouldn't bet on that. IINM, after the doujin Kyouko tried to convince Kyon of taking Kuyou's words about "coexisting in close proximity" at face value by taking Kuyou home(?) and basically being with her 24/7, including bathing and sleeping.

Re. Stealth Hi/Bye

As I recall, Kuyou did show up at Sasaki's house when Sasaki didn't realize Kuyou even knew where she lived, and then disappeared as soon as she got out the door and of Sasaki's sight. Does that count?

IMO, it doesn't. Stealth Hi/Bye happens when a character enters or leaves the scene with any warning to the audience and the characters. Kuyou's case doesn't qualify because she first knocked the door and then she walked out of Sasaki's room before disappearing. Offscreen Teleportation maybe?

I'm not very sure but I think there are a few other instances where Kuyou made someone think something along the lines of "I didn't notice you there until just now." If not her, perhaps Shinobu.

Now I think about it, Yuki apparently taught Kyon how to walk silently, or at least "quietly enough that most humans would not even pick up the sounds" (LL-1). It sounds a lot like a Chekhov's Skill to me, but I can't determine why she gave him such training. To complement his Invisibility Cloak? Or perhaps Kyon himself requested it? It would be amusing if some day Kyon decides to sneak on Shinobu just because he can tongue

Tropes questions.

Does Shinobu qualify for the Stealth Expert trope? I'm tempted to include something like this in the characters' page:

Stealth Expert: Implied to be one and the reason why Kyon considers her a Ninja Maid. If a character hears her steps, it generally means three things: 1) She knows where they are 2) She know what they are doing 3) They should stop before she gets there.

Does the following count as an instance of Worth It?

TL-4: Debriefing

[Yuki] contemplated this, but Kyon thought she didn't look convinced by that answer. And why should she? He wasn't really able to give her much more than vague platitudes. When he stopped to think about it, given her perceptions and ability to understand reality through the link with the IDSE, she probably felt practically blind in comparison. And if she hadn't let it bother her much visibly before, from her point of view being caught off guard as much as she had lately....

Aloud, he asked, "But through it all, there have been some good unexpected things as well, haven't there?"

He picked up the merest hints of surprise in her gaze. "Yes," she agreed, unhesitant despite the evidently unexpected question. "This is uncertainty."

Even if it's a Comedy Trope I think it fits the scene in the sense of Yuki's affirmative answer when asked (probably inadvertently) if deserting from the IDSE, going through several levels of De-Powering and basically being in a position where she can and will blame herself if something goes wrong was really worth it.

Yeah, that part of it is about as naughty as one would think. I was mostly referring to the fact that she's in the bag isn't really dirty. Sorry about the confusion.

Kuyou: I agree, Stealth Hi/Bye doesn't apply here.

Shinobu: ... however in this case Stealth Hi does (even without the "Bye" part the trope still applies).

@Grahf:

It seems my words sounded harsher than I meant to. I apologize for that.

Re. Trope for the main page.

How about:

Worth It: A non-comedic example. In Chapter 32 Yuki became distressed after failing to detect and prevent several situations where Kyon found himself in danger, with threats varying from attacks yakuza Mooks up to getting hit by an artillery-grade particle beam, mainly because of the loss of her near practical omniscience after her desertion from the IDSE. Kyon first tried to reassure her by admitting that getting into that kind of trouble is mostly his own fault, which naturally didn't ease her distress. After fumbling for words a little more he finally pointed out that even if they went through a number of unpredictable situations since the end of The Masquerade, some of them were pleasant surprises which probably wouldn't have been possible otherwise.

I openly admit this is too verbose for a tropes page, but I want to make sure first I have the right idea before posting it.

Now I think about it, is there a trope for "freedom makes you go through a lot of crap but it still is totally worth it"?

Random picture.

A cosplay idea for Rapunzel Hair!Haruhi (source). Probably it's only amusing if you have previous knowledge of the portrayed character (pic) from To Aru Majutsu No Index though.
