Heartwarming Moments, Funny Moments, Moment of Awesome, Awesome Music, Tear Jerker, and Nightmare Fuel subpages tend to attract low-quality and unillustrative images that don't evoke the emotions they should, even if the scenes are examples in context. While it is very easy to pull them, the Image Pickin' forum has trouble finding replacements most of the time, leaving most of these threads to close due to inactivity and take up room while doing so.
In order to free up slots, this thread is designed to handle moments subpages with a single bad image.
This thread is not for:
- Start a thread in the following cases
- Removing an image because you already have an alternative suggestion on hand
- Moments page images that are duplicated somewhere else
- Moments pages with multiple images
- Pages that are on Image Pickin' Special Cases (assuming their status allows it)
- Images that you personally don't find funny/sad/heartwarming/awesome/scary, or can't fully glean the context of, but still have some visual element of the Moment they're supposed to evoke (for example, a messy explosion might still be worth keeping on an Awesome/ page even if you don't understand what's exploding, because of Stuff Blowing Up). Remember that these are YMMV items.
- If the only problem is that it's low-quality, try the quality upgrade thread
first.
- If the problem is that the on-page examples are bad, please see the Moments cleanup thread and the specific Nightmare Fuel cleanup thread.
How it works
- First, have you Failed a Spot Check? Check the page source: maybe a previous thread has explained the reasoning for why it's on the page. You can also go to the Ask for Explanations thread for other opinions.
- Link the page with the image you want examined. Please explain why you think it is a bad image (e.g. JAFAAC, "more funny than scary"). Posts without such reasoning will not be entertained. (You can use the Image Pickin' thread guidelines for reasoning help.) If suggesting multiple pages in a single post, please put them in a bulleted list to ensure that each entry can stand on its own and that they won't be missed when the crowner is made.
- Similar to the Image Suggestion thread, a crowner will be run containing the proposed pulls. Each crowner will run about 15 items at a time and last for 5 days. Please do not add items to a crowner once it's running.
- After 24 hours, anything with 10 or up votes will be pulled.
- After 3 days, anything with 8 or up votes will be pulled.
- After 5 days, anything with a positive ratio of at least 2:1 will be pulled.
- Pulled images will be tagged as such:

I'd contest NightmareFuel.Super Mario Bros being JAFAAC, the framing is ominous, the screen looks distorted in a horror-esque way, and the pure white eyes are creepy. Definitely more unnerving than some other NF page images that no one is contesting.

- Awesome.Jacksepticeye: Not sure about this one. It isn’t particularly exciting, but it might be the best we can get for a let’s-player.

- TearJerker.Jacksepticeye: Again, weak (and small) enough that it’s a pull for me.
- NightmareFuel.Jacksepticeye: I can tell what’s going on personally, but others may disagree.
- Funny.Jacksepticeye: Looks silly enough that I say keep.
- Funny.Pewdiepie: Same as above.
- NightmareFuel.Super Mario Bros: What ; the framing and stylization make it enough to work for me.
- Awesome.One Piece: Confusing to me, so I’d pull.
- Heartwarming.One Piece: I think the raised-fist imagery combined with the caption is evocative enough, as someone not too familiar with the series.
- NightmareFuel.One Piece: I could go either way on this one.
- TearJerker.One Piece: Not amazing, but the sunset background and poses convey enough without context that I’d give it a weak keep.
- NightmareFuel.Dragon Ball: Dark abstract background + white eyes + angry expression works well enough as a combination that I’d give it a Keep Until Better Image Suggested.
I think it needs to be clarified what Just a Face and a Caption means, since I think the definition is often misunderstood on this thread. It is about images that supposedly show the trope, but fail to display necessary context. It is not literally images that consist of faces with captions, even if those may often be low on context. An image of a character crying or a scary face might not be the best choice for Tear Jerker or Nightmare Fuel, but it typically at least illustrates the fundamentals of either (something sad-looking, something scary-looking).

In that case I feel like Just a Face and a Caption should be renamed to make it more obvious that it should be about contextless images. Not to mention, the page image (just a face of Haruhi Suzumiya) doesn't help matters.

I mean. JAFAAC actually does mean what it says. The page is extremely clear about it. The issue is that people think any case of a character and a caption counts, when it's more nuanced than that.

Yeah, I feel like people are starting to misuse the JAFAAC trope a bit. The NightmareFuel.Super Mario Bros image can absolutely stay. The framing, creepy painting like feel, and pure whiteness of the eyes make it absolutely scary and not JAFAAC.
Y'all convinced me on NightmareFuel.Super Mario Bros and NightmareFuel.Dragon Ball. Though I still stand by everything else.

I don’t know if this is the right place to discuss this but the image for CurbStompBattle/AnimeAndManga was changed a couple of months ago without a discussion thread and the page is still listed as having an image from dragon ball. Should the old image be put back or should the page be removed from the image source list?
I would like to point out that the image for Awesome.Coryx Kenshin was pulled BECAUSE of the Diamond Play Button, so it's only logical that the image for Awesome.Jacksepticeye would be pulled for the same reason.

This crowner covers posts from here to here (inclusive) and may run for up to 5 days, depending on voting. Vote UP to pull an image; vote DOWN to keep it on the page.
